Gargoyles: Leader Of THE PACK~!
Reviewed: 08/10/2013
Oops; Drake Did It Again!
Yeah; I did it again. Just like The Secret Origins Of DARKWING...DUCK; my sarcasm lives again! Welcome to season two of Gargoyles as we begin what is the meaty portion of the series and many of the episodes in this one will lead to what gave this show the legendary status it so rightfully deserves. The only question is; will I care about it and will I feel it? Well; our first episode is the return of THE PACK~ as they are busted out of prison by some robot thingy called Coyote. If you cannot guess who Coyote is; you have no business reading this any further. So; let's rant on shall we...?!
This episode is written by Steve Perry and Michael Reaves. Animation is done by Walt Disney Animation Japan. Backgrounds and additional services are done by Nakamura Productions, Takhashi Productions, Studio Cats, Studio Robin, Light Foot and Jade Animation. Now they are going back to the old method of design which is to do the designs in America and then ship them overseas to have them animated; probably to cut costs.
Opening Moment #1: The new opening for season two is like a lot of DTVA programs that get second seasons: a few of the opening shots are changed with new ones; mostly for that season. Only three scenes are changed; two of them are in between the beginning of the rampart crumbling sequence in Awakening Part Five to Brooklyn climbing up the castle walls in Awakening Part Five. Most involve Goliath fighting Red Goliath Xanatos and a monster with furry arms. And there is a group shot before the money shot of Goliath arising from his sleep in the thunderstorm in Awakening Part Two. Nothing special. No; the real difference is that unlike the first season; Goliath actually narrates the opening instead of just having the opening footage being in silence with the music playing in the background. I'll let Goliath say what needs to be said:
One thousand years ago, superstition and the sword ruled.
It was a time of darkness.
It was a world of fear.
It was the age of gargoyles.
Stone by day, warriors by night, we were betrayed by the humans we had sworn to protect, frozen in stone by a magic spell for a thousand years.
Now, here in Manhattan, the spell is broken, and we live again!
We are defenders of the night.
We are Gargoyles!
Now that was pretty epic! It was short; to the point and very poetic
all at the same time. I can fully see why so many older youth
audience members at the time wanted to see this show. Not only that;
but we get a recap with Lexington saying "Previously on
Gargoyles" which is a nice bit of detail since THE PACK~
betrayed him in The Thrill Of The Hunt. We get footage from The
Thrill Of The Hunt and mostly from The Edge episodes as it ends with
Fox proclaiming that Xanatos is the most brilliant man on the face of
the Earth. I love real comments that aren't supposed to be real
comments.
We begin this one with a great stylized pan shot of the sun beating on the water surface as it is nearly sunset near the prison where THE PACK~ is as we head to the prison walls to see a robot made of bronze and looking like some sort of coyote scaling the walls. Good; at least the writers are smart enough to not have Xanatos wear the Red Goliath suit this time; although it wasn't damaged much, so it's a convincing disguise, but I know it's Xanatos. Why? Read on viewers...So we see on the far shot that he's not making holes in the walls; but he is on the near shot and on the sky shot. So we head inside as men are shouting while the prison hallways show a security guard being serious about twirling his night stick while walking at the same time. So the robot with red eyes (another giveaway to who is underneath the suit) uses a smoke laser device in his arm and that cuts through the prison bars which clang onto the floor like the floor is concrete and the officer turns around and brings out his guns. So the golden robot brings out the laser gun which is now a sound wave device that makes the officer go into convolutions thinking that his hands were literally melting and the world going all wave like. He drops onto the ground shaking and his heart pounding. Now there's a good way to make the character look alive without having the ultra-contrived "I'm all right" spot. So we head inside a jail cell as Jackal is looking out the prison barred window while Wolf is doing one handed pushups for fun. Then they notice Dingo at the prison door. Huh? Okay; I get that Dingo wasn't arrested earlier; but wasn't he on vacation or something? Never mind; he uses a plastic explosive on the door lock and the door explodes while Jackal and Wolf uses mattresses to protect themselves. So they run out with Wolf as we cut to Hyena using a rubber band to throw small objects at cockroaches on the floor while Fox is reading something. But it's not Nietzsche because that is too butch for her and Kafka reminds her too much of Hyena's little friends. Ooookkkkaaayyyy.
Hyena uses a paper clip to slingshot and apparently hit one of the cockroaches because she said gotcha. That's not really gruesome since we have seen Khan do worse to a bug in Plunder and Lightning Part Two. And here comes the golden robot who can talk as his name is Coyote. Hmmmm; now where have I heard that name before? He uses a plastic explosive to destroy the cell door. He gives Hyena her claws back as an female Africian American officer is about to bash Hyena in the head; but Coyote grabs her and throws her to Hyena who is threatening to invoke THE CLAW~ on her. Fox then takes offense to it and grabs the officer and protects her! Wow; that was out of nowhere. Fox states that there is no reason for killing the officer and Hyena begs to differ! Wow; Hyena is a racist and a psychopath. And now; just because she's voiced by Cree Summer doesn't make it not racist! Get over yourselves. She's a heel so it's expected though. Fox proclaims that she is serving the rest of her sentence and pay her debt which pisses off Hyena so she tries to seduce Coyote. I don't think Coyote knows what to think of this as the security guards and their guns arrive as Coyote shoots at the ceiling and lots of debris fall to the floor in front of the guards. Coyote Xanatos and Hyena bail to a corner of the prison hallway which contains a dead end and an open window clear as day which Hyena gets on his case about. So instead of opening the window; Coyote uses his laser arm and creates a hole in the prison wall; so much so Hyena drops on her ass as a result. Hyena is impressed; but the police have them surrounded much to Hyena's disdain. So Coyote cradles her in his arms and jumps out of the hole and lands on his feet and makes Donald Duck in the lumberjack short look like a wuss. Hyena likes these surprises as all of THE PACK~ (except for Fox) head to the prison gate door (under spotlights in the late afternoon no less) as the police are shooting with bullet shooting guns and orange flashes. Apparently; the animation effects were too costly to animate actual bullets.
So Coyote is a mystery man so to speak as he tears into the door and breaks both doors off the hinges and throws it at the running police officers which squash them. I think. So THE PACK~ bail behind the rocks as the officers shoot at them. At least the bullet flashes are hitting rock this time around. Wolf asks about Fox; but is instantly ignored anyway as Dingo proclaims that they are saving their tails. Dingo is supposed to be from "Down Under" but he sounds nothing like Monty and sounds more like Pete in an Aussie accent. So they all wonder how they are going to get out of this since this place is an island of some kind. Coyote proclaims that they have little faith and summons from the water; a ship which looks similar to the one THE PACK~ uses. Huh. Coyote then starts telling soda machine jokes and then airplane jokes during the whiplash jump cut while Coyote is in the cockpit while THE PACK~ is fastening their seat belts in the chairs. Yawn. So the ship (which has an octagon window with red glass I might add) flies up into the sky and around the prison as the spotlight are the only thing chasing them; but not succeeding either. So the ship turns out to be a scene changer as we head back to NYC after exactly five minutes into this episode! So we head back to the clock tower on the western pan shot as it is 7:00 pm and I know this because Goliath is on the perch and still in stone sleep. The sun officially sets and the Gargoyles live again for the first time in the second season. Broadway scratches himself for fun and we scene change to inside the clock tower as Goliath is stunned to see Eliza here in the clock tower. Eliza has bad news as THE PACK~ has escaped from Rikers Island. Not quite Eliza. All but Fox has escaped; unless you are implying that Fox is turning babyface; which I don't think she is. Lexington is pissed as he looks stare crazy and hopping around wanting to catch those rats. Goliath asks how it happened and Eliza proclaims that Dingo and someone dressed in black sprung them from prison. WHAT THE HELL ELIZA? There was a second man; but he was NOT dressed in black. He was in bronze/gold plated armor with red eyes. How can any idiot make that mistake? Now wearing black pants; yeah, but still...
Lexington runs to the exit of the clock tower as he wants to check out Pack Media Studio; thinking that they will return there like snakes; and he'll be waiting for them. Do you get the feeling that Lexington wants to...I don't know... murder these guys legit?! Lexington runs out and perches on the railing as Goliath tells Lexington to wait as Eliza states that they are checking out Pack Media Studios anyway. Brooklyn decides to perch with Lexington and states that they will check it out together. Bronx then walks to them and Brooklyn asks if he wants to come along. Bronx nods and Brooklyn and Lexington carry Bronx and swoop down into the NYC sky. We pan over to Hudson as Goliath is damn certain that THE PACK~ wouldn't be foolish enough to return to the studio and Hudson agrees with him since they have to trace it back to it's source. Do you get the feeling that Goliath allowed Lexington to go to the studios knowing that Lexington was acting far too unstable to control his emotions and feels that Lex is going to kill them if he sees them again? I certainly do and it's great booking. The source of course is Xanatos which I assume Eliza has informed Goliath about it from Fox. So we head inside the Red Glass Octagon Ship Of Doom as Coyote puts the thing on auto-pilot and assures them that the ship is rigged to fly without being detected by radar. He wants to discuss the Krackpotkin plan he has which causes Wolf to stand up (and yes; they unfasten the safety belts) and call him out on it. Coyote has declared himself the leader in Fox's absence which means Fox is still a heel at this point. Wolf proclaims that this will be the shortest term in office. Yeah; I'm supposed to buy that this Wolverine wannabe can be a better leader than HYENA; let alone Coyote Xanatos. He's just asking for a Bradley-equse pounding if you catch my drift.
Dingo stops Wolf before he can be murdered (Dammit! I wanted to see Wolf get squashed like a bug too!) as Jackal reminds him that he cannot tear prison gates from it's hinges in roundabout terms. Wolf doesn't care as he makes contact with the armor and Coyote uses the SHOCK TREATMENT HAND OF DEATH and Wolf is shocked with peach shock treatment. HA! So Wolf falls on his ass as Coyote asks if he should use both hands next time. Wolf gets up and runs in; giving the squeeze on Coyote while THE PACK~ is rooting for him I guess. Except for Dingo; so I think they are rooting for Wolf here. Coyote does some squealing wheel sounds which confuse Wolf enough for Coyote to get him into a headlock and then uses the knock out gas from his laser arm to causes Wolf to sell being stoned and then he falls on his face knocked out. That was pretty neat. Hyena is impressed as they broke them out of stir; but THE PACK~ doesn't just follow anyone so Jackal demands to know who the hell this Coyote really is and Coyote takes his helmet off and THE PACK~ is in shock because it's....wait for it...David Xanatos. I called this before the episode even started I should note. Why? David bought the "Coyote Diamond" and his "masked" voice clearly indicated it was Xanatos; as it wasn't masked all that well at all. This ends the segment nine and a half minutes in. Very good episode thus far...
After the commercial break; we see Xanatos proclaiming surprise and Hyena is giddy about this because this proves that there is such a thing as Santa Claus. HA! Jackal is pissed off now because if you recall, they were trying to KILL him in Her Brothers Keeper. So Dingo grabs Jackal to restrain him because he busted them out as Xanatos sounds emotional here explaining that it was FOX who ordered them to assassinate Xanatos. Now that is excellent booking because if you recall; Xanatos is Fox's boss, but the rest of the THE PACK~ don't know about it; so Xanatos is lying and putting the heat on Fox for trying to have him killed when Xanatos is the one who ordered his assassination attempt to play misdirection on the Gargoyles. Apparently; Xanatos is going to a storage cabinet proclaiming that the real enemy is the Gargoyles because they put him in prison once; which is funny because he should only be so lucky. Goliath wanted to kill him for turning on him. Xanato throws red duffel bags at THE PACK~ as they open them to reveal their trademark THE PACK~ armor and weapons. Wait; I thought Hyena already got her claws. So David wants to call a truce and go after the Gargoyles to hunt them down. They agree to it; but Wolf asks where to find them since they aren't in the Yellow Pages after all. David proclaims that they won't have to worry about finding them because they will come to them instead. We head outside as the ship is over the NYC skyline and in comes Goliath, Hudson and Broadway. So I guess Goliath has talked Hudson out of playing Mrs. Crackshell again. This is perfectly fine with me; Hudson's the only one who has won a fight in this series for the babyfaces anyway. So they land in Castle Wyvern and on the far shot; they all walk stage left after they land in such a choppy way; that it looks like they are the same character. Yeah. So we go to the doors leading to Xanatos office and they are flung open by Goliath as he demands to see Xanatos right now. And as usual; it's Owen informing him that he's not here and Goliath is stunned that Owen knows that he has business with THE PACK~ and should be at Pack Media Studios by now.
Yeap; they ARE REALLY STUPID enough to return to the scene of the crime. After all; they are hardly defenseless if you get where I'm going with this. Goliath proclaims that he'll talk to Xanatos later and the babyfaces storm out of the office. So we head to a building about 50 feet away from Pack Media Studios as Brooklyn, Lexington and Bronx watch on from the building look out about five floors up looking at the studio surrounded by police cars outside on the far shot. Lexington wants them to have at them after he deals with them personally. Brooklyn finally tries to explain that Lexington is letting his personal emotions consume him; sounding like Freya after Odin was killed by Loki in Valkyrie Profile Lenneth (You cannot let your emotion consume you. You'll lose everything.) . Lexington blows him off claiming that he has his priorities (What is this everything you speak of? I wish Lexington had just said that instead.) and then the police cars leave the scene which is obvious that there is no one there. Lexington flies in anyway as Brooklyn asks Bronx about going away from the safety of the lookout and Bronx nods. So we get a sky shot of inside the studio as it's dark and there's no one there which Brooklyn subtly rubs it in Lex's face. Lex feels defeated; but Bronx sniffs the air and growls as the floor opens and we get a lot of white light as the ship slowly rises from the floor. Brooklyn proclaims that they know how to make an entrance. I love real comments that aren't supposed to be real comments. So the underneath door opens and out comes Wolf from the light as Lexington instantly goes into white eyes mode and tries to pounce; but Brooklyn grabs him. Why? Because we need a plan silly. Lex has none of it and wiggles free and manages to knock Wolf onto his ass with ease. Brooklyn shrugs his shoulders as he and Bronx go into white eyes mode and they pounce as THE PACK~ run in and we have a wicked fight. And yes; we FINALLY get male on female contact as Brooklyn punches Hyena in the face like Baloo in From Here To Machinery. I think that's the first time in DTVA that a woman was punched in the face by a man. A gargoyle male yes; but still.
So Coyote Xanatos rises from the hanger and watches the fight. He then gets bitten on the left arm by Bronx! Bronx gets thrown away and he goes through some canvas and then impacts the far wall which he sells with a smile before dropping down on his face knocked out. More fighting as Brooklyn then headbutts Hyena in the armor and she goes flying and impacts another wall. Jackal is angry about this sexism which Brooklyn gets off the obviously lame excuse that she is no lady. Ummm; yes she is you dirty sexist! Sure; she's a psychopath with a claw fetish who can defend herself, but she's still a lady...JACKASS! Thankfully; Dingo gets in from behind and throws a blue shock device on Brooklyn's back and that shocks and appalls him to be knocked out. HA! IN YOUR FACE YOU ROTTEN SEXIST! So it's Everyone Hate Lexington time! MUGEN LIVES~! Okay; maybe not. Logic break: Lexington punches Wolf in the gut and Wolf still sells it in spite of the fact that he has armor on. Even Hyena less sold her headbutt Brooklyn inflicted on her. So Coyote gets him from behind with the MELTING SOUND WAVE GUN OF DEATH as Lexington's vision goes spiral on him and he falls down knocked out. Sadly; no panting and heartbeat noises are present as Jackal proclaims that they shouldn't let the bed bugs bite; and that ends the segment 13 and a half minutes in. That was a good fight and this episode is very good so far...
After the commercial break; we are inside Pack Media Studios again as the door opens and in comes Goliath, Hudson and Broadway as Hudson inspects the area and proclaims that there was a struggle. NO?! REALLY?! Then the phone on the wall rings as Broadway teases answering it before Goliath nods to him to answer the phone. So Broadway answers the phone and I swear to god; he sounds like a prototype to Patrick Star. We then cut to Owen at the window inside a building with a lot of walls and a roof made of glass so I'm guessing that it's a plant nursery. Owen is calling from his cell phone to inform Broadway (which Owen knows his name somehow) that he has been instructed to inform them that THE PACK~ is having an intimate soiree tonight. That's awfully perverted! Logic break; when Owen is looking at the window from the direct FPS shot with his back to the hard camera; the coloring of the windows and walls are changed; and then go back to normal on the next Owen shot. Owen informs them to appear at midnight at the Otoshiana Maru (In Japanese; Maru means "round"; so I'm guessing that it means Round Otoshiana; although one Wikia claims Owen really said Oceana so it might be a play on words: "Round In The Ocean" which makes sense sort of...) which is an oil tanker in the middle of the bay. Owen also implies that some of their friends have already made the trip. Owen disconnects his phone and Broadway states that THE PACK~ has them. Sure they do Broadway. So we head to the "Round In The Ocean" oil tanker as Bronx is scratching against the oil tanker's hull while Brooklyn is up looking around proclaiming that there is no way out as the walls are countless feet thick. And in the background; there is a LADDER to climb up. Idiots! Lexington finally gets up and he's in white eyes mode and pissed off as he still thinks he got them as Brooklyn sarcastically retorts that one for me. Lexington is still enraged as Brooklyn tries to calm him down; but no dice as Lex bangs on the walls of the hull. Brooklyn proclaims that he is not getting off to a great start. Booking states that you are full of yourself there Brooklyn so let Lex be enraged and LIKE IT!
So we cut to outside the oil tanker as it is foggy and the moon is barely lighting the scene. We see the heels all readying their weapons as Jackal gets the claws; while everyone else gets laser weapons. Dingo questions these gargoyles coming because it's an obvious trap as Coyote proclaims that they will come and they come from the side as two Gargoyles show up and Coyote shoots the red laser arm and both gargoyles dodge it easily. THE PACK~ turns around to his direction which allows Broadway to tackle them down from behind like a back fighter. Broadway looks around just as Coyote jumps over Broadway onto the upper deck and doesn't even bother to hit Broadway at all. Goliath flies after him as Broadway notices the banging of the hull walls and notices the port hole chained up. He goes over and tries to rip the chains that bind the door; but Wolf runs in and tries to hammer Broadway; but Broadway dodges and Wolf hits the porthole with his face. So this means Hudson must face Jackal, Hyena and Dingo three on one. They surround him and Hudson brings out his whacky sword to tell them to bring it on because we aren't getting younger. So Dingo charges and Hudson moves out of the way and Dingo face plants. Hudson slices the claws of Jackal and throws him away; then Hyena gets thrown into Broadway who is still trying to open the porthole; and that is enough to snap the chains and open the porthole. Broadway and Hyena go flying and take a sick off-screen bump right into the conveniently placed oil barrels. Some of the oil barrels pour oil out of them; so if cannot guess what is going to happen; you have no business reading this rant. Lexington and Brooklyn all come out as Lexington sees Dingo; goes into white eyes mode and tackles Dingo to the ground. This is just great. So we cut to Coyote hiding behind a door as Goliath pounces in front of it and Coyote invokes the SOUNDWAVE SPIRAL GUN OF DOOM on Goliath and he sells it...for about ten seconds as he goes into white eyes mode and as Coyote is about to shoot the laser; but Goliath nails him and the blast goes right to the oil barrels and it explodes as we have out ship fire. HA!
Goliath pulls off the helmet and it's Xanatos of course. So what is this android that they are talking about here? So Xanatos and Goliath spar and Goliath gets thrown into piping and that is impacted. This is just wonderful as all the babyfaces fight the heels and the underling gargoyles manage to actually more than hold their own. Dingo's gun gets destroyed by Broadway; as per his gimmick and then gets it thrown in the mid section. There is one odd moment where Hudson is fighting Wolf and it appears that the camera is zooming in on Wolf's groin; so I was thinking that Hudson was going to punch him in the groin like you see heel cowardly wrestlers would do; but no, it was a mid section punch. Lexington nails Jackal good and cuts his claws down as we cut back to Goliath and "Xanatos" and yes; the scare quotes are intentional here. "Xanatos" cups Goliath's mouth to push him back; but Bronx runs in out of nowhere and pounces on "Xanatos" face and chews it on screen in the fire. Then he leaps off and "Xanatos"' back is to the hard camera; and then he turns around and we discover that he's a Terminator robot. This would be lifted for So The Drama in Kim Possible I should point out; minus the chewing of the face. Erik's death was more hilarious than this I should add. THE PACK~ is shocked; but Hyena thinks this is even better; the psychopathic person that she is. So Xanroid tries to rush Goliath; but gets shot in the chest with a laser gun and sports the biggest entry and exit wound in history. And who shoots the laser gun? Lexington of course. Broadway and Brooklyn are in shock over this; which is apporos because Broadway absolutely hates guns now. Xandroid falls to his knee claiming that he'll have his revenge as Goliath flies in and kicks Xandroid's head off his shoulders!
Wow; I didn't see that one coming at all, and would have made more sense if Xandroid wasn't exposed by Bronx earlier. Instead; this is the "glorified violence" parents groups have been warning us about. Along with Lexington shooting Xandroid in the chest; but that would have gotten by BS&P. Sadly; I think all of these shots and the shots of Xandroids head were cut in the Toon Disney version, but that is a moot point now. So THE PACK~ notices that the entire ship is about to explode as Lexington has the laser gun set to profits now. Memo to Broadway: Grab the damn gun and destroy it! Lexington is unstable right now! THE PACK~ decide to bail as they run off to jump ship as Lexington is not liking this at all. Oh come on Lexington! YOU WON! EASILY! THE PACK~ manage to get on the ship and head inside. The ship flies into the sky as Lexington is looking through the scope and is about to fire; but chooses not to. Why? Because earlier; Brooklyn flies into a pipe due to an explosion and is crumbled on the railing over the ship and might fall into the oil water below. Lex is pointing the gun at him; then up and then down again as Lex decides to throw the gun away and runs in to grab Brooklyn's hand or tail and pulls him up as there are more explosions on the ship as we see the rest of the gargoyles looking at the head of Xanadroid as Hudson is mad that they ALL got away. And Xanadroid proves Hudson's statement right as the head rockets into the sky and we'll never see it again. At least in theory. The Gargoyles shake as the explosions rock the hull and then water pours into the hull as the ship slowly starts to sink and this takes about two minutes to set up as the body of Xanadroid and the oil barrels all go overboard. The gargoyles wait forever before they all fly into the hard camera as we cut to Bronx sitting on the front of the ship as it completely sinks as he howls at the moon wondering when he is going to be rescued and Goliath swoops in and grabs Bronx and flies away. Brooklyn thanks Lexington for saving him and they both fly away from the ship as Lex thanks Brooklyn for finally setting his priorities straight as the tanker explodes some more.
Sadly; Lexington had basically gotten his revenge because Goliath finally won a battle in NYC for the first time ever. So now he's 2-9-3 which isn't a cause for celebration, but he hasn't lost since losing his home so that accounts for something at least. So we head to the courthouse and the parole review board as Fox is standing before four judges while wearing a green dress and a green skirt as the grey haired man with glasses (Jim Cummings I bet voiced him) states that due to her decision to stay in prison to finish her sentence and acted like she was serious in reforming herself including saving the woman prison guard in the process during the escape of THE PACK~; she is granted early parole as the judge takes off his glasses. Fox has this wicked smile on after hearing it as we head outside the gates of prison it appears as we see Owen (In his limo gear) open the back door of the limo and she hops in as we see Xanatos in the back seat and they hug and kiss. That's right folks; Xanatos and Fox are soul mates! I honestly did not see this coming when I first saw this and considering that Xanatos is the boss of Fox; it makes more sense now as an adult than it did when I saw it in late 1995. Fox asks who won and Xanatos doesn't care because that was the icing and she is the cake as they kiss on the lips; and Hoppo is regretting. POW! OUCH! Ummmm... Xanatos finally explains that he staged the escape to grant her early parole as we see in the paper package that he opens up is the Xanadroid robot's head as he was testing it. Fox is worried because he lost against the gargoyles and wonders about revenge. Xanatos no sells because revenge is a suckers' game and he can built dozens of Xanadroids. True love is hard to come by. How funny in all this that Xanatos is the one who knows about how to play the revenge game better than Demona does. We zoom in with a closeup shot of the head and that ends the episode at 21:12. This was a great way to start season two as Goliath finally got his first win and Lexington pretty much got his revenge on THE PACK~ too! A few mistakes and Eliza's stupid "dressed in black" line dragged it down a bit. **** 1/2 (90%).
THE REVIEW LINE
Well; we begin this season of Gargoyles with a literal bang. I was glad that they didn't drive Lexington's thirst for revenge and make him merely a child who was angry at being betrayed and wanted revenge; and he got it; and also I was happy at the booking of making a separate robot form for Xanatos; albeit as a robot instead of using Red Goliath which would have given away Xanatos before the episode even went into fruition and not play into the whole "Coyote Diamond" thing which was the payoff to the previous episode The Edge. THE PACK~ was great here; most so Hyena (as she took a punch from a male! Amazing!) as we find out where Dingo was all this time in a sort of implied way and everything was build up nicely from Lex's simmering thirst for revenge at the expense of his family was paid off perfectly and we got to see Goliath kick someone's head off. What more could you want?! Maybe Eliza not acting so stupid early on (If he was dressed in black; then why isn't he wearing black armor?) and not having Bronx expose Xanadroid too soon to justify the laser shot to the gut and kicking the head off. Otherwise; I was FEELING this episode and the animation was almost perfect (a few spots looked raw), but it was great. I also had fun too watching the two fights in this one as there was intensity and the shots actually made contact which was a big problem with Temptation. And Xanatos SWEVERES us as we discover that he is MORE than Fox's boss too at the end. That was awesome. So next up is Metamorphosis and the return of Derek Maza and SPOILER ALERT....He didn't quit his job with Xanatos Enterprises as Xanatos' bodyguard either. And apparently; there is a certain doctor creating chimeras who has Tim Curry's voice. Ooooooooooo... So....
Thumbs up for this episode and I'll see you all next time.
