Phineas & Ferb: Jerk De Soleil/Toy To The World
Reviewed: 01/04/2014
Phineas & Ferb Are Going To Do It All!
Welcome kiddies to 2014 and it's time to do another new Disney show. YAY! Only this time; this is a show that actually has the most popular fanbase in DTVA right now. It's simple; yet brillant in it's own way. It introduced a new generation to likable characters and even funny villains again. It's all about being yourself and doing it in the most absurd ways possible. Welcome to the Rant Shack Phineas & Ferb; they might be doing it all; but sadly, I cannot. I only have enough episodes to go about ten weeks of this stuff. Basically; in this show there are two or three main stories: (1) Phineas & Ferb try to do something that is so outrageous that you'll want to watch until the end. (2.) Phineas & Ferb are so outrageous that Phineas' older sister is either trying to expose them to her parents (that sounds perverted); or trying to win the dense boyfriend; and (3) Phineas's pet is actually a secret agent whose mission in life is to take down some ultra funny mad scientist with a goofy name who is so stupid that even stupid DTVA villains look smart. Yeah; this is MY kind of show because it's both outrageously stupid and funny at the same time. Phineas & Ferb is the brain child of the creators from Rocko's Modern Life; Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh (who provide character voices in this show as well; more on those goofballs later) which stars a young average boy with a triangle head (which was unleashed in a restuarant in Vince Russo-ish fashion) and this all happened as early as 1991 because according to sources, it took 16 years to get the show approved. I see why Maxie Zeus hated the show; because when it takes 16 years to get a show approved, it usually means the Disney execs had nothing else to put on the table at this point. Finally; after all that time, the show was previewed on August 19th, 2007 and got 10.8 million viewers. That's on par with TaleSpin's rating in 1990; so that's a win for the show. Also; it is one of the few shows on Disney XD to get over one million viewers; including the Christmas Vacation special which has 2.62 million viewers on Disney XD! Those are amazing numbers for a cable channel that is lucky to get less than half that. So it's not unusual to see Phineas & Ferb getting such a main event push on television (and in toys, video games and DVD sets. However; almost every successful DTVA show has this even if they screw it up.) as it is even getting Marvel and Star Wars crossovers. In fact; I am going to be doing the Mission Marvel crossover rant near the end of this winter session. Tons of fun! This feels like The Simpsons; only for children and unlike Family Guy is to the Simpsons, Phineas & Ferb is actually really good. I once said that in about ten years from now (I think it was in 2010 during the 20 Years of Spin rants); Phineas & Ferb will be put on the same podium as Gummi Bears, Ducktales, TaleSpin, Darkwing Duck, Gargoyles and Kim Possible as shows that defined the Disney Television Animation group. I still stand by that statement too; however, it's time for Phineas & Ferb to face the ultimate critic of DTVA, which is me.
Now I will not be ranting on every episode of Phineas & Ferb since I don't have every DVD set with me at this point. The DVD sets I have at this point are Phineas & Ferb's Daze of Summer, The Fast & The Phineas (false advertisting moment #1: It states that there are five episodes in the package. It is actually 10 episodes in five 22 minute blocks; two episodes per block), The Perry Files, The Perry Files: Animal Agents, Phineas & Ferb: Across The 2nd Dimension, and the Mission Marvel DVD sets. In other words; enough episodes for three months. Also; I will not be doing the episodes in order of airing because the DVD sets are all over the place. Jerk De Soleil is episode 1-12 (8a) on the animation paper; while Toy To The World is episode 1-16 (8b) on the animation paper. It's too bad because I was looking forward to doing this series in order, but oh well. Anyhow; Jerk involves Phineas & Ferb creating their own circus after the circus in real life was cancelled while Doctor Doofenshmirtz (oh lord; I thought Leap Bogus Boys Mooney Count from the Bryan & Vinny Urban Wrestling Federation: Hood Justice review was the only one making me lose myself. He's Doofen to me because it's easier to spell.) tries to make everyone's voice sound higher. Then Phineas & Ferb use their pet to create an inaction figure to show up their sister while Doofen basically channels Tweegs and creates toll booths to become rich. Now this sounds like a lot of fun to watch. How do these episodes fare? Let's rant on shall we...?!
Jerk De Soleil is written by Bobby Gaylor, Martin Olson, J.G. Quintel and Kim Roberson. Bobby Gaylor is the voice of Buford in this show (television movies, series and the Take Two segments) among his writing duties. He also was a guitar player in LA Blues in 2007. Writing credits outside of Phineas & Ferb include Johnny Test, Hope & Faith (which he produced), Easy Money, Becker, The Bernie Mac Show, The PJs, Rosanne and Nick Fit Extreme (which he directed). That's it basically. Martin Olson according to Wikipedia (DANGER! DANGER!): Olson sold his first spec screenplay "IQ 83" to Dreamworks SKG, produced by Andrew Lazar of Mad Chance. As a result, he took a year off to write "Encyclopaedia of Hell," a satirical book, and sold the film rights to Warner Bros. through Andrew Lazar's Mad Chance Productions. With Ken Kaufman and Howard Klausner, Olson co-wrote the final draft of the screenplay adaptation of his book for WB under a new title, "D-Men." Olson collaborated on a number of screenplays: with legendary special effects director Phil Tippet on the screenplay "Veronica's Daughter," with writer-director Bobcat Goldthwait on the screenplay "Sightings" for United Artists, with writer-comedian Rob Schneider on the screenplay "Family Disorder" for Touchstone, with writer-comedian Kevin Nealon on the screenplay "Late Bloomer," with Ken Locsmandi on the story and screenplay for "Bronson Beak." Olson co-wrote the story and eight songs for Disney's TV film Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension. Olson also adapted the novel "The Man Who Was Thursday" by G. K. Chesterton as a screenplay for Andrew Lazar of Mad Chance. Olson is a twice-Emmy-nominated songwriter, and an Annie-nominated songwriter. He has appeared as a singer on several television shows including SpongeBob SquarePants and Phineas and Ferb.
His satirical songs were regularly featured on many television series, including London Underground (Comedy Central), Rocko's Modern Life (Nickelodeon), "Get That Puss Off Your Face" (HBO), Camp Lazlo (CN), Penn and Teller's Sin City Spectacular (FX) and The Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat (ABC). Olson has written or co-written over two hundred songs for Phineas and Ferb (Disney). Olson and Bobcat Goldthwait co-wrote the theme song for "Don't Watch This Show" (Cinemax). At Disney Studios in 2011, with songwriting partners Dan Povenmire and Swampy Marsh, Olson co-wrote two songs with Bobby Lopez, co-writer of Broadway's The Book of Mormon. Olson has written songs for a diverse array of singers including Clay Aiken, Chaka Khan, Jack Jones, Kate Pierson of The B-52s, Fee Waybill of The Tubes, Michael McKean of Spinal Tap, Wayne Brady of Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Jack McBrayer of 30 Rock, Jaret Reddick of Bowling for Soup, Richard O'Brien of Rocky Horror Show, French Stewart, Ashley Tisdale, and his daughter, singer-songwriter Olivia Olson. Olson first collaborated with song-writer Jeff Root on four home studio albums in the 1970s. Their independent lo-fi album "Idiot's Delight" (1975) was praised by Beatles producer George Martin as "the best songs on a home-recorded disc I have ever heard."[3] Olson's latest Cd was recorded with his daughter Olivia Olson (July 2013) and called "The Father-Daughter Album of Unspeakable Beauty," released at Comicon SD 2013. Music Awards: 2010 Emmy Nomination for Songwriting,[4] 2009 Emmy Nomination for Primetime Songwriting,[5] 1997 Annie Award Nomination for Songwriting in an Animated Series. He began his career in 1987 with the New Adventures of Bean Baxter in 1987. He has 18 writing credits, eight acting credits and three production credits to his resume.
J.G. Quintel according to IMDB: James Garland Quintel, or simply JG, was born on September 14, 1982, in Handford, CA, to Terri (nee Morris) and James Quintel. Growing up in a rather boring town, he and friends would have to entertain themselves to pass time, many of these experiences grew into influences for many episodes of Regular Show. As he grew up, he grew fond of drawing, leading him going to California Institue of the Arts (CalArt). There, he and friends compete in 48Hour completions every weekend they would throw a word into a hat, draw a word, and develop a cartoon from the word in 48 hour rushes. Two films that came out of this were "The Man From Loliland" & "2 in The Am Pm." These cartoons featured his voice works, alongside with future collaborator Sam Marin. The features included pretypes of such characters as Mordecai, Benson, and Pops. After graduating, he got an internship at Cartoonetwork, working on such cartoons as Camp Lazlo & The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack. Soon enough, he was finally able to pitch what is now Regular Show, for a short lived block known as 'Cartoonstitute' when the block was dropped, Regular Show was picked up as a series. He began his career in 2 In The AM PM in 2006. Phineas & Ferb is his DTVA debut and only appearance. Regular show is his most recent credit. Six writing credits, four acting credits, one production credit, six storyboard credits, eight direction credits, one soundtrack and one character designer credit to his resume. Kim Roberson's DTVA debut was Brandy & Mr. Whisker in 2004. Other credits: Camp Lazlo and Little Angelita. That's it.
Toy To The World is written by Mike Diederich, Bobby Gaylor, Chong Lee and Martin Olson. Story editing for both episode are done by Martin Olson. Mike Diederich's debutted as a character designer in Beverly Hills Teens and the TV movie Meet Julie in 1987. Mighty Ducks The Series was his DTVA debut and also appeared as a storyboard revisionist in Kick Buttowski. He has 33 storyboard credits, three writing credits (Evil Con Carne, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy), one visual effects (Spicy City), and one art director credit (Channel Umptee-3) to his resume. Other credits include Batman: The Animated Series, Johnny Bravo, Garfield & Friends, Gen 13, James Bond Junior and among others. Chong Lee's DTVA credits: Mickey's Mouse Works in 1999, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, House of Mouse, Teamo Supremo, Dave The Barbarian and American Dragon: Jake Long. Non-DTVA credits: Dexter's Lab (his debut), Dilbert, The Oblongs, Time Squad, My Gym Partner's A Monkey (Oh geez...), Special Agent Oso, and the 2012 edition of TMNT. He also did layout for Avatar: The Last Airbender and assistant direction for Family Guy. That's about it basically. 16 storyboard credits, four other credits. Animation is done by Rough Draft.
Opening Moment #1: Okay; the theme song is awesome as it contains clips of Phineas & Ferb doing stuff while driving Candice to such insanity. Funny spots include Phineas & Ferb playing "Whack-A-Mole" as they are cosplaying being the moles while Candice plays the player on a game called "Whack-A-Pest". That spot was hilarious. The chrous of this sing is that Phineas & Ferb are going to do it all; and considering that this show is still going on strong after six years tells me that this is accurate. The ending sequence is Phineas & Ferb finish their rock and roll florish and then Candice walks in; points at the two kids and yells "MOM?! Phineas & Ferb are doing a title sequence!". That would prove to be Candice's major catchphrase as well. I swear to god that I would be so disappointed if I find out Phineas & Ferb flew an airplane in the back yard in front of Candice and Candice doesn't yell: "MOM?! Phineas & Ferb are watching TaleSpin again!". The opening song is done by "Bowling For Soup" which is not a family friendly band most of the time. I do have one major beef with this song though. The opening lyric is that there are 104 days of summer vacation. I can tell you right now that is bullcrap. I live in Canada and I can tell you that we don't get 104 days of summer vacation. School usually ends on the last week of June and starts again on the first week of September. Even at the most; most Canadian children get 75 days of summer vacation, and up to 95 days of vacation overall if you include holidays and inservice periods. In order for the lyric to make sense; then summer begins in the first week of June and ends in the second or third week of September. So yeah; that is dumb. Other than that; this song is great. I should point out that there are 118 22 minute episodes and over 204 shorts have aired. So in other words; this show has basically broken it's original continuity because the show was too awesome to be canceled at this point. Oh well; it's not like kids care about continuity anyway.
Jerk De Soleil: We begin this one in front of your average suburban house with has a green car parked in the front. We see a dark skinned boy with black hair wearing a white shirt, blue overalls, and sneakers running towards the house yelling "We're going to the circus!" over and over again. According to my notes; he is Baljeet Tjinder, who is of Indian descent and is basically a nerd who gets bullied by the resident bully. Baljeet is voiced by Maulk Pancholy and according to IMDB: Maulik Navin Pancholy (born January 18, 1974) is an American actor. He is best known for his recurring role as Sanjay on Weeds from 2005 to 2009, and his role as Jonathan on 30 Rock, which he has played since the show began in 2006. He is also well known for his vocal role of Baljeet Rai in Phineas and Ferb. He is currently a series regular on the NBC sitcom Whitney. He began his career with USA High as Achmed and then did cameos in City High, Malibu, CA and Felicity in 1998. The Replacements as Kamil Satter is his DTVA debut. HR as Farshid is his most recent credit. He has 43 acting credits, and one Self credit (Running Wilde) to his resume. We then jump cut inside to the kitchen as we see at least five other kids, including four of them eating POW cereal. I know this because there is a pink box called POW on the table. And yes; there is a carton of milk on the table. Baljeet is so happy because today is the day they go to a circus act called Cirque De Loon. I'm guessing that they couldn't get the real Cique De Soleil guys to do voices here and this is a rib on them. We then see a triangle shaped head of a boy with orange hair wearing an orange/white striped shirt, sneakers and blue shorts tellin g Baljeet to have a seat at the table. Now; I know a lot of people complain about modern cartoons being drawn in simple shapes; but even the most complex, ancient cartoons (CGI or not) use simple shapes to construct them as models before finishing them. Also; complex drawing cost a lot more money nowadays anyway.
Another thing: Why do people bash Phineas for having a triangle shaped head; yet in the same breath have no problems when Arnold from Hey Arnold has a head shaped like a football? Anyhow; for those who haven't been paying attention, that triangle shaped head boy is Phineas Flynn-Fletcher who is the creative genius and basically the model which the creators of this show project themselves at when they were of age. See; Dan and Jeff during their summer vacation were inspired by their mothers to "never waste summer vacation"; so they were in the backyard creating stuff. So there is a sense of believability in this show; no matter how outrageous the projects would end up in this show. I was hoping that Phineas & Ferb would be voiced by Dan and Jeff; but sadly, that is not the case. Don't worry; they do voice characters in this show. So, Phineas is voiced by Vincent Martella and according to IMDB: Even though he is one of the newest additions to the Disney family, Vincent Martella is no stranger to the entertainment industry. In addition to playing the lead role of 'Phineas' on Disney's new hit animated series, and now Emmy nominated "Phineas and Ferb", Martella is also shooting his fourth season as one of the leads on the CW comedy, "Everybody Hates Chris", the People's Choice and Golden Globe nominated comedy which is loosely based on the childhood of comedian Chris Rock. However, this role which Martella landed almost four years ago is far from his first time in front of the camera. Born and raised in Florida, Martella began dancing at the age of three, and delivered his first live performance in The Nutcracker. Not long after, Martella was performing in school plays, appearing in local commercial spots as well as attending acting, piano, and vocal training. By the tender age of seven, Martella was one of the hottest kids in the Central Florida market, working both print and national commercials. It soon became clear that Martella was ready for a bigger market: Los Angeles.
During his first trip to L.A., he landed a guest spot on Fox's Cracking Up and a recurring role on Nickelodeon's Ned's Declassified, where he developed his own character for the role of "Scoop". The following summer, Vincent nabbed his first film role working opposite Rob Schneider in "Deuce Bigelow: European Gigolo." Since then, Vincent has guest starred on the Fox comedy "Stacked", starring Pamela Anderson, and lent his voice to the feature film "Bad News Bears". Vincent stayed busy while on hiatus from "Everybody Hates Chris" and in fact he shot the Universal film "Role Models" (November 14th) opposite Sean William Scott and Paul Rudd and also the film "Baitshop", where he co-stars opposite of Billy Ray Cyrus and Bill Engvall as one of the lead characters "Scott." This young thespian, known for his quick wit and impersonations, is also a musician. In fact, his new album, "Time Flies By" is now available for download on ITunes. It is obvious that Martella is very passionate about performing, whether it be by singing, dancing or acting and that he has a very bright future before him. Martella currently splits his time living in Los Angeles while working and Florida with his mother, father and three siblings. He began his career as Robin Reveta in Cracking Up in 2004. Phineas & Ferb is his DTVA debut and only appearance. Clinger as Robert Klingher is his most recent credit. He has 22 acting credits and 23 Self credits to his resume. Baljeet is so happy as he sits down and then in comes a brown haired man with glasses on; wearing a white shirt with purple trim, blue pants and gray sneakers with the newspaper proclaiming that the lead performer has a severe allergy; and thus the Cirque De Loon circus is canceled. What? They don't have a backup performer. FACKING BULLSHEET! Boy; they are going to lose a lot of money for that tour, that is for sure. I discover that this is Lawerence Flynn-Fletcher, aka Phineas' dad.
Lawerence Flynn-Fletcher is voiced by Richard O'Brien and according to IMDB: Born in Cheltenham, England, Richard Smith's family moved to Tauranga, New Zealand, in 1951 when his father, an accountant, decided to become a sheep farmer. Watching horror and science-fiction double features in nearby Hamilton, Smith added an interest in acting to his love of rock and roll. He moved back to England in 1964, tried singing, then became a movie stuntman and fringe theater actor. He changed his name to O'Brien (his beloved maternal grandmother's name) one day while on the phone to British Actors Equity, to avoid confusion with another Richard Smith. He met director Jim Sharman in 1972, when Sharman cast him in the dual roles of Apostle and Leper for the London stage production (transferred from Sharman's native Australia) of "Jesus Christ Superstar". Working again with Sharman on a production of Sam Shepard's "The Unseen Hand", O'Brien mentioned a new rock musical he'd been writing called "Rock Horroar." The play went into rehearsals as "They Came from Denton High," and at Sharman's suggestion, was retitled "The Rocky Horror Show" before opening in June 1973. He began his career with Carry On Cowboy in 1966 in an uncredited role. Phineas & Ferb is his DTVA debut and only appearance. The Stolen as Mr. Russel is his most recent credit. He has 40 acting credits; 2 stunts credits (Casino Royale and The Fighting Prince Of Donegal), three composer credits (Shock Treatment, The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Glee), 39 Self credits, 5 writing credits (Digital Dreams, Premiere and The Rocky Interactive Horror Show) and 23 soundtrack credits to his resume. Strangely; Phineas takes it well as a Latino female kid who dresses up like Shellsea; only with black hair and blue eyes calls this a bummer. I discover that she is Isabella Garcia-Shapiro which makes this one of the few shows where some of the characters have two last names sewed together. Isabella is basically the girl who has a love interest with Phineas and is considered the Kit/Molly toy ship combination if you will. Only Isabella and Phineas are not cast as siblings like Kit and Molly are.
Isabella is voiced by Alyson Stoner and according to IMDB: Alyson Stoner was born in Toledo, Ohio. While growing up, she studied ballet, tap, and jazz dancing at the O'Connell's Dance Studio in her hometown. She also modeled and trained at the Margaret O'Brien Modeling Studio there. She even attended the IMTA Convention in New York City with Ms.O'Brien's studio in 2000, and she won many awards in acting, modeling, and dance. After this, Alyson decided to try hip-hop dancing. She moved to LA and trained with such well-known choreographers as Wade Robson, Fatima Robinson and Hi-Hat. She auditioned and was cast to dance in the 'Missy 'Misdemeanor' Elliott' videos "Work It" and "Gossip Folks". Because of these videos, Alyson has been in demand by such media outlets as Extra (1994), Maury (1991), Ellen: The Ellen DeGeneres Show (2003), and magazines such as "YM" and "M". She performed on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (1992), and with Missy Elliot at the 2003 American Music Awards, on "MTV's Fashionably Loud" and Seattle's Radio Concert. Not only is Alyson a talented dancer, she is also the co-host of the Disney Channel's Super Short Show (2002), an infomercial segment that sells upcoming DVD and Video releases of Disney features. She began her career as Sarah Baker in Cheaper By The Dozen in 2003. Lilo & Stitch The Series as Victoria is her DTVA debut and she also appeared on WITCH as Lilian Hale. Selling Isobel (Katie), Step Up 5 (Camille) and Hoovey (Jen Elliott) are her most recent credits. She has 41 acting credits, 19 Self credits and one credit as a choreographer in Alice Upside Down in 2007; to her resume. So we hear an adult female wearing your usual stereotypical female mom clothes (cream dress, brown skirt, white shirt, Hartman-equse hips, blue earrings) come in talking about them being similar to Candace's problems which gives her red blotches and wouldn't blame her if she didn't go to the public. Oh yeah sure; great way to teach the kids about rigid gender looks, huh.
I discover (Unlike the Recess wikia; the Phineas & Ferb Wikia is PACKED with all the information I need to get through this show without figuring out who is who) that she is Phineas' mother Linda Flynn-Fletcher who is apparently a one hit wonder pop star (and yes folks; there is an episode featuring her as a pop star, so this is not OUT OF NOWHERE), which I note stems from Linda telling Lawernce that she is going to the mall and Lawerence is free to join her on something called Live At The Squat & Stitch. Lawerence proclaims that it should be swinging which seems awfully dated to me. Linda Flynn-Fletcher is voiced by Caroline Rhea and according to Wikipedia (DANGER! DANGER!): Her film debut was as a bikini-clad extra in the film Meatballs III, shot on location near Montreal. She moved to New York in 1989 to study stand-up comedy at the New School for Social Research. Rhea has said that her true training came from her first gigs at the comedy club, Catch a Rising Star. Performing around New York City, she quickly gained a reputation in the city's competitive comedy scene. These performances were augmented with appearances on MTV's Half-Hour Comedy Hour, Comic Strip Live and Caroline's Comedy Hour. She decided to move to Los Angeles for a career in Hollywood, debuting in NBC television series Pride & Joy co-starring with Jeremy Piven. She gained fame for her role as Aunt Hilda on the ABC (and later, The WB network) television show, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, as well as being a regular on the latest incarnation of Hollywood Squares. In 2002, Rhea landed her own syndicated daytime talk show, The Caroline Rhea Show. Rosie O'Donnell hand-picked Rhea as her replacement. In 2004, Rhea became the first host of the series, The Biggest Loser on NBC, a weight loss reality show in which overweight members of two teams try to lose the most weight. After her 3rd season, Rhea was replaced by Alison Sweeney.
In 2005, Rhea was in the movie The Perfect Man, playing a co-worker of Jean (Heather Locklear). She has appeared in Comic Relief 8, as well as the Ms. Foundation's "Women of Comedy from Caroline's Comedy Club" (no relation to Rhea). She appeared as a contestant in 2001 on a special edition of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, winning $125,000 for charity. She had her own stand-up special as part of Bravo's three-part Funny Ladies series, along with Joan Rivers and Paula Poundstone. Rhea has had a recurring role on the hit Disney Channel Original Series, The Suite Life of Zack & Cody as Ilsa Shickelgubermeiger-Von Helsing der Keppelugerhofer, an inspector turned manager of the rival hotel. In the series, she is well known for a large mole on her cheek. She has appeared on Disney's Mom's Got a Date with a Vampire as the mother and also Christmas with the Kranks in 2004. She has competed on Bravo's Celebrity Poker Showdown and GSN's World Series of Blackjack. She now does the voice of Linda Flynn in Phineas and Ferb, an animated show with Ashley Tisdale, Mitchel Musso, and Alyson Stoner. Rhea will next appear on the upcoming Fox animated series Two Dreadful Children. Caroline Rhea also plays Noleta Nethercott on the TV series Sordid Lives: The Series. She has also been in the original Lifetime Television movie To Be Fat Like Me with Kaley Cuoco. Rhea stars as a down on her luck waitress alongside Justin Guarini and Mircea Monroe in the Marvista Entertainment production of Fast Girl. Rhea has also done a live webcast with author, Meg Cabot. Rhea currently hosts the Canadian television series Cake Walk: Wedding Cake Edition on Slice, which premiered September 7, 2011.[3] She is also frequently a guest on the revival of Match Game on Canada's The Comedy Network.[4]
In 2013, Rhea hosted a travelling live stage show version of the game show Family Feud which toured fairs in the US and Canada, including the Calgary Stampede. She began her career in Meatballs 3: Summer Job in an uncredited role in 1986 (!!!). Filmore as Mrs. Konquist is her DTVA debut. Baby Daddy as Jennifer Perrin is her most recent credit. She has 33 acting credits, 56 Self credits, three producer credits (The Biggest Loser, Caroline Rhea & Friends, and Pulp Comics: Caroline Rhea) and seven writing credits (The Halifax Comedy Feast (YAY!), Just For Laughs, One Night Stand, Fools For Love, Caroline Rhea: Rhea's Anatomy and Laughing Out Loud: America's Funniest Comedians) to her resume. So Linda goes over to Phineas and tells him that she is sure to have a fun day anyway; and then she leaves with Lawerence. Now; I fully expected at least Baljeet to complain about this; but nothing like that happened. Isabella reads the newspaper and wonders about the wonders of being in a circus. Phineas then proclaims that they will be doing their own circus as he's the ringmaster, Isabella will sow up arty costumes. We discover that the brown haired person in a yellow shirt, orange/yellow splash shorts and sandals is actually a male and he wants to do a human pretzel act which he flops off his chair and loses his sandal in the process. He proclaims that he'll be working on it still as his name is Django Brown who is the resident artist of the group. Django is voiced by Alec Holden and he has nine credits to his resume besides Phineas & Ferb: His debut is on NYPD Blue as Vinny's son in 2002. From there he was on Marty (Marty Body Double), Jimmy Kimmel Live! (Friend At Birthday Party), The Unit (Sam), The Grand (Little Larry), Battle For Terra (Tulo), Mine (Oab) and his most recent credit; Party Down (Muki). He also appeared on 3 Minute Game Show. That's it. Phineas proclaims that even his pet Perry can have an act called the Amazing Perry complete with trumpets playing.
We then see Perry eating what looks like a chocolate bar styled dog food in a black bowl with green letters saying Perry. Ummmm; did I mention that Perry is a green platypus? Yeah; that is so not silly at all, after all; we saw Ron Possible have a naked mole rat as a pet. Baljeet claims that he has an act of his own which is a magic act called Stupifying. Oooookkkkaaaaayyyyy; I don't get what finger trick Baljeet was doing; it might have been the same one I saw in Wizboy in Fanboy & Chum Chum. So then we see a black shirt fat boy with the Guile brown hair, brown shorts and rubber boots with the zipper in the middle do the Gruffi pose and proclaim that he has an act to bring the house down. Somehow; that doesn't help my confidence any. This is the resident bully known as Burford and I have already mentioned that Bob Gaylor does his voice. Basically; Buford is the less stereotype bully of what Jocktopus would become in Fish Hooks. So then we head into a pinkifed bedroom with a sky shot of a red haired girl wearing all orange snuggling up in the covers and then turning to her right to a picture to a blond haired teenager with a green jacket and dark green shirt on. Apparently; this is the female teenager's love interest which is basically a version of Steve Jackson in Fish Hooks. He also has green eyes too. Logic break #1: When Candace is showing off her picture and cosplaying a romance; she goes from her regular clothes to wearing the same clothing colors as the picture trim on the girl's photo which is purple and white. She then hears power tools and we discover that this girl's love interest is named Jermey. I'm assuming that this is Candace; the older sister of Phineas & Ferb, whose gimmick in life is other than to get Jermey to love her; she is also hell bent on busting Phineas & Ferb for their outrageous creativity. She is basically the biggest failure of BS&P unleashed on cartoons today. POW! OUCH! Ummmm... So let's get her and her boyfriend out of the way...
Candace is voiced by Ashely Tisdale and according to IMDB: Ashley Michelle Tisdale (born July 2, 1985) is an American actress and singer who rose to prominence portraying the candy-counter girl Maddie Fitzpatrick in Disney Channel's The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and the female antagonist Sharpay Evans in the High School Musical film series. The High School Musical series became a successful franchise which included two television films, a feature movie, a spin-off and numerous soundtrack albums. The popularity earned by Tisdale in High School Musical led her to sign a solo record deal with Warner Bros. Records in 2006 that allowed her to release two studio albums, Headstrong (2007) and Guilty Pleasure (2009). Tisdale has a prominent voice role as Candace Flynn in Disney Channel's Phineas & Ferb, a cartoon which became television's most-watched animated series among kids and tweens and had been met with acclaim by critics. She began her career with MGM Singalongs as Kate Lionheart and then had cameos in Smart Guy and 7th Heaven in 1997. Kim Possible is her DTVA debut as Camille Leon. The Great Migration is her most recent credit. She has 58 acting credits, 97 Self credits, 30 soundtrack credits and eight production credits (Miss Advised, Vanessa & Ashely: Inner Circle, Young & Hungry, Cloud 9, The Keys, Picture This, Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure and There's Something About Ashley: The Story of Headstrong.) Jeremy is voiced by Mitchel Musso and according to IMDB: Born in Rockwall, a suburb of Dallas, Texas, Musso began his professional acting career at the age of 8, following in the footsteps of many family members who are actors and musicians. He currently resides in Los Angeles. In his spare time he loves to hang out with his friends, go to the beach, write songs with his brothers Mason & Marc, and perform his music live for his fans around the world.
Mitchel Musso stars as responsible and anxious twin Brady, who is eager to prove his worth as king, in Disney XD's Emmy-nominated comedy series "Pair of Kings." A familiar face on Disney Channel, Musso is the dynamic host of reality series "PrankStars," directing pranks live from a covert mobile command center. He can also be heard in Disney XD's Emmy Award-winning animated comedy series "Phineas and Ferb," as the voice of Jeremy Johnson, a handsome teen who works at Mr. Slushy Burger and is the object of Candace's affection. Musso is best known for his role as Oliver Oken, eternal optimist and Miley and Lilly's loyal best friend, in the Emmy-nominated hit Disney Channel Original Series "Hannah Montana." Mitchel is the only Disney star selected to participate in all 4 Disney Channel Games. Musso was first introduced to Disney Channel viewers in the Disney Channel Original Movie "Life is Ruff" and went on to star in Disney Channel Original Movie "Hatching Pete." Mitchel also co-starred in the hit Disney Channel Original Movie "Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension" and Walt Disney Pictures' feature film "Hannah Montana: The Movie." Mitchel starred in Steven Spielberg and Robert Zemeckis' Oscar-nominated feature film, "Monster House" and co-starred in the feature film "Secondhand Lions" with his brother, Marc. Among his other acting credits are roles in the popular television series "King of the Hill," as well as "Snow Buddies," "The Search for Santa Paws," and "Walker, Texas Ranger: Trial by Fire." Also an accomplished singer/songwriter, Musso released his sophomore album Brainstorm in November 2010. His self-titled Walt Disney Records solo CD debuted in 2009 at #19 on the Billboard Top 200 chart.
The premiere single "Hey" shot to #8 on the iTunes Pop chart and to date, over 500,000 digital tracks have been downloaded from his debut album. Musso has also recorded songs for the soundtracks for "Hannah Montana 3," "Wizards of Waverly Place" and "Phineas and Ferb." He co-wrote and performs the theme song for "PrankStars" as well as performs the theme song for "Pair of Kings." He began his career as a cub scout in The Keyman and then as Ritchie in Am I Cursed? in 2002. Phineas & Ferb is his DTVA debut and only appearance. Sins Of Our Youth as Scott is his most recent credit. He has 22 acting credits and 23 self credits to his resume. So Candace rushes out of bed towards the window and notices that there is a purple circus tent in the backyard which seemly pisses her off because she wants quiet kissy-kissy cosplaying. Or something. So Candace runs out and we then rush inside the circus tent as everyone is in the costumes that make them look like complete tools. HAHA! Ferb comes over to Phineas who is wearing the most outrageous ringmaster outfit I have ever seen. He looks like someone from Phantom Of The Opera with that outfit. So Phineas asks Ferb where Perry is because he is wearing a costume which makes Perry look like a clown. Ferb is voiced by Thomas Sangster and according to Wikipedia (DANGER! DANGER!): Sangster's first acting job was in a BBC television film, Station Jim. He subsequently appeared in a few more television films, including the lead roles in Bobbie's Girl, The Miracle of the Cards (based on the story of Craig Shergold) and Stig of the Dump. He won the "Golden Nymph" award at the 43rd Annual Monte Carlo Television Festival[7] for his role in the miniseries Entrusted. Love Actually, in which he played Liam Neeson's stepson, was Sangster's first major theatrical film.[3] He was nominated for a "Golden Satellite Award"[8] and a "Young Artist Award"[9] for his role in the film. Sangster next appeared in a television adaptation of the novel Feather Boy and played a younger version of James Franco's role in the film version of Tristan and Isolde.
Among other things, Sangster takes part in a (child's) swordfight in the film. Sangster next starred in the commercially successful film Nanny McPhee, as the eldest of seven children.[3] In 2007 he appeared in a two-part story ("Human Nature" and "The Family of Blood") in Doctor Who as schoolboy Timothy 'Tim' Latimer,[10] and guest-starred in the Doctor Who audio dramas The Mind's Eye and The Bride of Peladon. His voice lowered during filming of the Doctor Who episodes. He also starred alongside Love Actually and Nanny McPhee co-star Colin Firth in the film adaptation of Valerio Massimo Manfredi's historical novel The Last Legion, released in 2007.[3] That same year he voiced the character of Ferb Fletcher in the Disney Channel animated series Phineas and Ferb alongside Love Actually co-star Olivia Olson. As of December 2007, he was also working on the filming of a television series of the story of Pinocchio, filmed in Italy. In March 2008[11] it was announced that Sangster would star in Steven Spielberg's CGI motion capture film The Adventures of Tintin as the title character of Hergé's comic books. Sangster left the project after scheduling difficulties when filming was delayed in October 2008 and the role was given to Jamie Bell.[12][13] At the end of March 2008, he began working with Oscar-winning director Jane Campion on her film Bright Star, a love story with Ben Whishaw and Abbie Cornish portraying John Keats and his lover Fanny Brawne. In March 2009 Sangster joined Aaron Johnson, Kristin Scott Thomas and Anne-Marie Duff in Nowhere Boy, a film directed by award-winning artist Sam Taylor-Wood, about the teenage years of John Lennon and the two women who shaped his early life: his mother Julia (Duff) and his aunt Mimi (Scott Thomas).[6] He played Paul McCartney .
This would be his second time acting with Johnson, the first being in 2004's Feather Boy. Sangster appeared in the film Some Dogs Bite in the role of Casey. The story involves a boy who wants to keep his family together. Casey (Sangster) takes his baby brother out of care, and with the help of his older brother, goes in search of their father.[14][15] He also appears together with Andy Serkis in an Irish film, Death of a Superhero, based on the novel, Death of Superhero by Anthony McCarten.[16] Additionally, Sangster plays Liam in the 2011 film, The Last Furlong. In April 2011, Sangster made his guest appearance as Adam Douglas in an episode of British detective drama Lewis. In 2012 he starred in The Baytown Outlaws alongside Billy Bob Thornton, Natalie Martinez and Eva Longoria, and Ella Jones's short film The Ugly Duckling, the third instalment of the Tales trilogy of reworked fairy tales from More Films.[17] He also plays the role of Jojen Reed in the HBO series Game of Thrones.[18] He began his career as Henry in Station Jim and then The Miracle of The Cards as Craig Shergold in 2001. Phinea & Ferb is his DTVA debut and only appearance. The Maze Runner (Newt), Phantom Halo (Samuel Emerson) and Shoplifters Of The World (unconfirmed) are his most recent credits. He has 40 acting credits; three self credits and one production credit (A Hat For The Camel) are his most recent credits. So we head outside as Perry is dressed like the bearded lady (without the beard of course) for goodness knows what reason is heading to the wooden fence. Perry is now wearing a black mask as he looks at the hard camera and suddenly a capsule pops up from the grass behind him. Ooooookkkkkaaaaaayyyyyy. Perry steps in and we go down underground as Perry doesn't look all that thrilled of wearing the coconut bra. Yes folks; Perry is an anthro International....SUPER SPY~! Apparently; Dan and Jeff felt that Ignatz was such a unique character that they just had to steal the concept from TaleSpin's Polly Wants A Treasure. Fine by me.
So yes; we are in an underground buncker complete with all the trimmings of a secret agent; including the giant computer screen of doom. We see Perry sit in front of the CPU control center as there is a white haired old man with a white mustache and a green uniform with gray trim. He is reading papers. We discover that Perry's codename is Agent P (that is obvious peeing joke; no siree!) as apparently there is an "evil scientist" by the name of Doctor Doofenshmirtz is buying biochemical equipment and the white haired man laughs right after that, for no reason. Yeap; this is a parody of the spying genre as the poor guy is lauging over elocution tapes. Agent P is NOT amused and I don't blame him. I discovered through the Wikia that his name is Major Monogram and he's the head of a spy agency called OWCA which stands for Organization Without A Cool Acronym. Well; no wonder no one takes this organization seriously because the irony is completely lost on them that OWCA is a cool acronym. Major Monogram is voiced by Jeff "Swampy" Marsh and his credits are all over the place: writing for Rocko's Modern Life; acting in Bounty Hunter and Aaagh! It's The Mr. Hell Show; prop designer/storyboards for King of the Hill, Little Dracula (his debut), Dumb & Dumber: The Series, and the Ren & Stimpy Show; direction for Shadow Of The Elves and backgrounds for The Simpsons. Phineas & Ferb is his DTVA debut and only apperance. He also has four self credits (I Know That Voice, Disney 365, Piper's Quick Picks, and Piper's Picks Television.). That's it. 15 paragraphs in already and we are not even two minutes into this episode. So we discover that Monogram is laughing at Agent P for his stupid outfit which offend Agent P; so he tries to walk out of the meeting. Monogram is claiming that he was laughing at a funny joke he heard this morning and wants him to turn around to finish the meeting. So Perry turns around and we see Monogram with his "smart" phone take a picture of Perry which Perry simply storms out in disgust as Monogram calls for Karl to get some e-mail address. That was not a good first impression of Monogram in my view. Then we get a female chant of "Perry" in the background for no reason which was better than anything that happened in this scene...
So we head outside the circus tent as Buford is wheeling in props for his act as Phineas comes out wearing a red mask (I guess the purple one clashed with his creditability) asking what exactly his act is. So Buford brings out a kids like blueprint and points out that he'll he catapult into mud with a paper bag on his head. See; the gimmick here is that Buford is such a bully that he is willing to self-humliate himself. Okay; that was different at least. So Phineas shrugs his shoulders and walks Buford in with the stuff. So now comes Candace's main gimmick which is to bust up this act and expose Phineas & Ferb for...what exactly? I don't know as Candace does the Gruffi pose and proclaims that he will NOT phone Linda at all. Then we hear an elephant cry in the background; which is enough for Candace Flynn-Fletcher to bring out the "smart" phone. So we cut to Linda talking on her light blue cell phone while on stage with a microphone and a keyboard piano. She blows off Candace nicely because she's recording and she asks if this is a life or death (death reference #1 for the series for rant purposes). Candace claims no; so Linda hangs up causing Candace to get all flustered and such. Then we hear a male voice and we see Jermey walking in with a basket of what appears to be a califlower (as he is wearing brown sneakers by the way, and gray shorts) which he gives as a gift to the Flynn-Fletcher family. Jermey talks about Linda's jazz routine and then sees a circus tent and he's cool with it. He calls it more of a Cirque than a Circus as we see Candace wiping her eyes and she is having dellusions of Jermey loving her outright; instead of just being friends. Candace giggles as this sappy music is playing in the background, and it finally stops when Jermey asks if she wants to watch the cirque with him together side by side. Candace is about to agree to this; but then she gets pink spots all over her face and wheezes. We discover that there are parsnips inside the basket and Candace drags herself with the basket stage right. So it was Jeremy that got the Cirque De Loon canceled then! That is living proof that assholism can sometimes be unintentional.
So we cut to a secret hideout that looks like a bunker as a middle age man with brown hair with a long nose wearing a white doctor's coat, black shirt, gray pants and black shoes blowing off a tape recorder claiming that he's dancing with his wife. Geez; this guy has issues man! So the man on the tape recorder claims that he was eating nectarines and asks if he has a problem with that. I then discover that this goofball is none other than Doctor Doofenshmirtz himself. Oh boy! This is going to be fun to mock. Doofen and Agent P are in my opinion the real reasons why this show got over. Sure; Phineas & Ferb doing outrageous acts is neat if you are a small child and even some of these acts are amusing for adults; but for the grown ups; the Agent P/Doofen battles were the comedy diamond of this show in general. This show actually gets it right in giving us stuff for everyone; unlike Kick Buttowski which attracts boys while Fish Hooks is more for the rigid female gender role set. That's why this show gets awesome ratings and rightfully so. So Dr. Doofenshmirtz is voiced by Dan Povenmire and according to Wikipedia (DANGER! DANGER!): Povenmire left USC[9] without finishing the degree requirements,[11] and used the money from Fish merchandise to fund a short-lived career as a street artist. His first professional animation commission came on the Tommy Chong project Far Out Man, for which Povenmire produced two minutes of animation. By age 24, Povenmire was freelancing on several animated television series, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.[9] In 1989, he appeared in a small role as a band member in Adam Sandler's first film, Going Overboard.[9] In the 1990s, Povenmire secured a job as a character layout animator[13] on the hit animated series The Simpsons.[9][14] His desk placed him opposite Jeffery Marsh, another up-and-coming animator. They shared similar tastes in humor and music, and later became colleagues on other projects.[14]
Povenmire's experience, from both previous industry work and from his own projects, earned him respect at The Simpsons.[10] He worked on layout animation and collaborated on storyboard production for the series, recalling later that staff were handed pages of production notes and instructed to "Do the Brad Bird notes and any others that make sense."[2] He maintained a side interest in film, writing scripts[11] and the screenplay for a low-budget horror movie, Psycho Cop 2.[1][11] The movie's producers offered Povenmire the opportunity to direct the film, but its terms required that he quit The Simpsons. Povenmire chose to stay with The Simpsons, which he enjoyed and considered a better fit with his future ambitions.[11] Rif Coogan ended up directing the picture instead.[15] While directing for Family Guy, Povenmire was offered a job as storyboard director of the series SpongeBob SquarePants.[2][30] He wrote various musical numbers for the series, including "The Campfire Song Song" in "The Camping Episode" (April 3, 2004).[31][32] He began his career as a storyboard artist for Never On Tuesday in 1989. Phineas & Ferb is his DTVA debut and only apperance. He has 18 art department credits, seven acting credits, seven writing credits, seven directing credits, two production credits, seven animator credits, three other credits, and seven Self credits to his resume. So then the ceiling crumbles and destroys the tape recorder as Agent P arrives with no build whatsoever. Doofen is more concerned about Perry using the front door instead of crashing down from the ceiling. HAHA! Then we discover why Perry didn't use the front door as the front door has at least seven different traps set up including the dreaded bear trap of death. TaleSpin hater! So he repeats the "ate a necterine" promo and then brings out the remote control and nets Perry with ease. HA! See; Doofen has a problem with his voice because he doesn't sound tough enough. Ah; I see the toxic machoism of man has struck poor Doofen's brain. So sad to see him that way.
Anyhow; Doofen points out that ever since he was a child; he had a high pitch squeaky voice. Agent P's voice is Dee Bradley Baker (last seen on Fish Hooks) by the way. So he proclaims that this problem is no longer a problem as he shows off a Fisher Price Toy with a helicopter prop on top. He calls this thing the Voicenator. Ooookkkkkkkaaaayyyyyy; that is only slighty less lame than the Dollarnator in Fanboy & Chum Chum, only reason is that the Voicenator actually makes sense with the plot here. See; this device converts normal air biomechanically into something called Doofelium which causes everyone's voice except for Doofen to become much higher than his; thus allowing him to have a lower voice. That is the highest form of fictional quackery I have ever heard, and I'm shocked Mike Adams hasn't stolen it yet. Doofen claims that trying to lower his voice was too much trouble and then the Voicenator is apparently a large flying machine as it rises up and destroys the entire ceiling. Doofen yells "Oh, come on!" for no reason that I can think of. So we see Candace at her desk going through the dresser drawers to find her allergy pills. I should note that parnsip allergies do not exist; although there is a similar reaction to what Candace is going through; only it's described as a chemcial burn. She opens the medicene bottle and there's no medication left; and we discover that these allergies also cause her voice to grow deep like a man's. She panics and looks outside to notice that Jermey is now talking to a blond haired girl wearing a blue shirt, cyan sweater, gray pants and blue shoes in front of the tent. I discover through Candace's panicky moment that her name is Mindy (voiced by Ashley Tinsdale in this short. Dan provides Candace's allergic voice by the way) as she has to somehow stop this relationship from going further. Candace looks around and notices a brown paper bag and gray jogging gear. So we head outside as various kids are in front of the circus tent in the backyard as Mindy and Jermey are exchanging notes; and Jermey claims that he promised Candace that he could sit with him to watch the cirque. So one of Candace's gimmicks is that she is insecure. Where have I seen that before? Oh yeah; Bea from Fish Hooks.
So we see Candace with the paperbag of shame on her head as she runs off next to Jermey and runs off into the street. Jermey excuses her and calls her bro in the same matter as Garrett Bischoff does when he was a babyface. So we head back to Doofen's secret lair as I should note that Perry is wearing nothing but a regular spy hat and a watch as he is starting some type of motor from inside said hat. We discover that there is a handle bar helicopter inside the hat and we uses it to cut the net. He then breaks through the ceiling as the singers do this silly gibberish song which ends with "AGENT P~!" and out of the secret lair. Doofen is going to be pissed seeing that. Not because there are two holes in the ceiling; but because Perry is supposed to be the babyface of this operation. That looked awfully heelish to me. So Perry is flying over the circus tent as Phineas' voice informs us that Phineas & The Amazing Perry is about to start. So Perry brings out the coconut bra and flies down as we head inside the tent with Phineas and Ferb as Ferb is of course a silent clown because it's Ferb's gimmick. So Perry comes in all dressed up. Yeah; Perry has foresaken the mission to stop Doofen from making everyone's voice sound like a child; just to perform circus tricks like a pet. Perry should never live this one down; but he will somehow. So we head to the center ring to see one of the most awkward moments ever as Baljeet is doing his devil finger trick pose while wearing blue alien ears, a palm tree on his head and clown gear. Is this some sort of message about President Obama? If it is; THAT'S RACIST~! If not; THAT'S EVEN MORE RACIST~! He ends the trick with smoke and Ferb playing drums out of nowhere. The crowd still pops for it because they are kids whom do not know any better. Baljeet bows to the crowd while Phineas calls him Baljeet the Stupefying which is awkward. I should note that Phineas is wearing a top hat, a blue coat and orange shorts while announcing Ferb and Perry's act.
So we cut to center ring as Ferb is handling Perry as we discover that Perry is going to jump from the trampoline; through a hoop and into a kid's swimming pool. Yeah; and the crowds goes OOOOOOOO over that. There is a diving board which is in star and crescent moon design painted orange and red. Ferb bounces Perry off the trampoline and Perry goes through the hoop and into the pool. Yeah; no flaming hoop at all and all on one static shot. BS&P strikes again! So we get shooting water out of firework launchers creating a lot of steam which I am dead certain Perry will use as his escape route from this circus. Which we sadly never see him doing since they already cut back to outside as Perry crawls under the tent and apparently; his helicopter thing is in mid air during this whole stunt. That was much more impressive than Phineas' shallow pool act. So Perry flies up and catches up with the Voicenator as we head to the mall of doom called the Googolplex Mall. Okay; that is a neat booking name for a mall. Basically; it's a purple walled mall which looks like Crystal Palace. Okay. So we head inside on stage as Linda and her non-lyrical band is on stage in the food court it looks like. So Linda is playing the keyboard as Paperbag Candace is on stage and Linda notices her right away since the pink splotshes on her face instantly give her away. Candace whines about Phineas & Ferb again because her main gimmick is to bust the boys for doing absurd acts of creativity. Or something. So Candace breaks out in song while the music is playing. HAHA! At least this plot thread makes sense to use Dan as a voice instead of Ashley; but if you are trying to get Ashley over as a musical superstar, this is not the way to do it. During this we see a Latino-Jewish adult wearing an orange vest, white shirt, red pants and sandals playing the chello telling her to testify which indicates that she has some sympathy for her. I discover that she is Vivian Garcia-Shapiro who happens to be Isabella's mother. She also talks with a Yiddish accent too.
Mrs. Vivian Garcia-Shapiro is voiced by Eileen Gaundo and according to IMDB: Born in Bronx, New York, Eileen enjoys quite an eclectic background: her father is Puerto Rican and her mother, although born in NY, comes from a mix of Cuban and Spanish blend. Her mother's family stepped foot in the US in 1868 following the tobacco trade as cigar workers, first in Key West, then finally settling in Ybor City (Tampa), Florida. Strongly connected to her Latin heritage, Eileen made it a priority very early on to learn Spanish (which, of course, she speaks fluently). Eileen is passionate about children's television, especially the world of Animation. She has been involved in several award winning projects including "Dora The Explorer" (Emmy Award Winner), "Phineas and Ferb" (Emmy Award Winner) and the long running PBS Science show "Newton's Apple". On stage Eileen appeared opposite the legendary Chita Rivera in "The House of Bernarda Alba", the critically acclaimed world premiere of "Chavez Ravine" with Culture Clash (Mark Taper Forum) and "The Clean House" at International City Theatre in Long Beach, CA, for which she was nominated for the 2010 Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Featured Performance. On the political front, Eileen served as a board member of the Screen Actor's Guild for three years. At only twenty one years of age, Eileen became instrumental in the non-traditional casting movement that gained momentum in the 1990s, putting herself on the picket lines to encourage Broadway producers to endorse diversity in casting. As a result, today Broadway is certainly more integrated. She began her career as Linda Diaz in The Super in 1991. Phineas & Ferb is her DTVA debut and only appearance. Body High (Paloma) and Hello, My Name Is Frank (Maria) is her most recent credits. She has 36 acting credits, One Self credit (Newton's Apple), and 3 ADR credits (Swing Vote, Employee of the Month and Caught) to her resume.
So she wipes off the white board and writes EVIL BOYS with red marker while spelling it out; which actually makes sense unlike most Federator jackhammering when the words come out of nowhere. In this case, the jackhammering actually has a build to it. Linda gets out her banana yellow electric guitar and plays it. Well; no wonder she is a "one hit" wonder. Gedo fashion sense will always make you a jobber for life in the music world. I should also point out that all of those things she has accused Phineas & Ferb of not only are believable; they actually happened as television episodes. Sadly; they all happened AFTER this episode; not before. That HAD to be intentional. I should note that Doofen's lair has a triforce on the wall. Lawerence is DJing and playing the kazoo; while the ladies at the tables are all knitting according to the song. That was neat as well as them knitting EVIL BOYS on the end flourish. So the song ends as Candace asks about coming home; but Linda no sells because she wants to do another one. HAHA! Candace gets flustered and storms out stage right. So we head outside as Perry manages to land on the deck of the Voicenator as Doofen is standing in front of the fan and next to the red switch of doom. Doofen tries to proclaim that it's too late as Perry notices the switch. Perry tries to switch the thing off; but Doofen blocks it with the LEGAL HAND OF GOD. So we do the lamest karate moves this side of Darkwing Duck; and Perry invokes the most devastating move in all of DTVA: the Chooie-Chooie-Coo of Death on Doofen's ribs. Is Tad Stones booking here? So we then proceed with the slapping of doom on the far shot and then return to outside the circus as the entire female kids' squad does the pryamid spot. I should note that the entire squad is known as the Fireside Girls as they are similar to a Girl Scout troop. In other words; they are the more reasonable version of the Honeybee Troop from The Mighty B! Isabella is apparently the leader and one of them is named Gretchen. I mention this because...
Gretchen is voiced by Ariel Winter according to IMDB: Ariel Winter is an American child actress. She is best-known for portraying "Ellie Layton" in the 2008 film, One Missed Call (2008), and for the character of "Alex Dunphy" on Modern Family (2009). Winter also had a recurring role in the TV series, ER (1994) as "Lucy Moore", the daughter of Hedy Burress's character, "Joanie". She also voices "Gretchen" in Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension (2011). Gorgeous, perky and adorable are just a few words to describe young Ariel Winter, who started her acting career at the age of four. Ariel can next be seen in the supporting role of "Lila", opposite Eddie Murphy and Kerry Washington in the DreamWorks comedy, A Thousand Words (2012), about a man who finds out he only has 1,000 words left to speak and then he'll die. Most recently, Ariel has had a recurring role on the final six episodes of ER (1994) as "Lucy", a young girl whose mother is brought into the ER in need of a heart transplant. This year, she will also appear in the thriller, Duress (2009), opposite Martin Donovan. Best-known as "Trixie" in Warner Bros.' Speed Racer (2008), Ariel's other recent credits include the film, Opposite Day (2009) and Nic & Tristan Go Mega Dega (2010). Ariel always wanted to act. She can remember wanting to enter the TV set and actually explore Dora the Explorer (2000). After noticing her daughter's passion for the craft, Ariel's mother started to research and found her an agent. She landed her first paying job immediately in a Cool Whip commercial and hasn't stopped working since! Ariel's past credits include guest-starring roles on the hit TV shows, Criminal Minds (2005), Crossing Jordan (2001), Nip/Tuck (2003) and Bones (2005). Feature credits include a lead role in the hit thriller, One Missed Call (2008), in which she plays the killer of the film.
In addition, Ariel is the voice of "Gretchen" on Walt Disney's hit show, Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension (2011), voiced a supporting character in the hit animated film, Horton Hears a Who! (2008) and played "Thumper's sister" in Bambi II (2006). She started her motion picture career at age seven in director Shane Black's hit cult film, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005), starring Val Kilmer, Robert Downey Jr. and Michelle Monaghan. When she is not working, this Los Angeles native is an avid singer and has a band, with her best friend, called "WickedSweet". They've already recorded their first CD. Ariel also enjoys hanging out with her three dogs -- Pebbles, Hercules and Cher -- jumping on her trampoline and going to the movies with friends. Even at her young age, Ariel is aware of dangers to our environment and is involved in environmental charities to promote a greener living. She began her career as Little Girl in Listen Up; followed by Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (Harmony Faith Lane - Age 7), Tickle U (Pipoca), and Freddie (Hobo) in 2005. Sofia The Princess as Sofia is her DTVA debut and has appeared on Jake & The Neverland Pirates (Marina The Mermaid). Truck Stop (Kate) and Mr. Peabody & Shurman as Penny Peterson are her most recent credits. She has 59 acting credits; 18 Self credits, and one ADR credit (The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning) to her resume. So Phineas & Ferb are talking to Buford who has a paperbag and gray jogging gear on. If you cannot guess what the next gag is supposed to be; you have no business reading this rant. I should also note that the Singer For Agent P's voice is provided by Luara Dickinson. Luara Dickinson's credits outside of DTVA: Use Only As Needed, Late Show With David Letterman, Pitch Perfect and Vox Lumiere: The Hunchback of Notre Dame. She also appeared on Doctor Phil as a Caroler and a singer for the MTV Video Music Awards in 2010.
The Emperor's New Sckool as Screaming Girls is her DTVA debut and she also appeared on Fish Hooks in various roles (which I missed), Jake & The Neverland Pirates as Pirate Princess and additional voices for Sofia The First. All these voices are her most recent credits. She has 10 acting credits, 2 self credits and nine soundtrack credits (White Collar, Yu-Gi-Oh! The Abridged Series, Modern Family and Sonny With A Chance) to her resume. So Phineas has some suggestions for him to make the act more outrageous; but Buford asks if he is going to land in mud. Phineas sezs yes and Buford claims that he wants mud. So we head back to center ring as Isabella in her absurd blue outfit which makes her look like a cross between a blueberry and a Teletubby; wheels away Django who is officially twisted into a pretzel and is moaning. Phineas claims that this had to hurt. HAHA! No kidding Sherlock! Phineas then introduces the "Catapult From The Heavens" (religious reference #1 for the series) as Buford is about to land in an Aztec style mud pit of doom. Yeah; Buford is a self maimer. So we cut outside again as Paperbag Candace runs into the tent and notice Jermey is sitting in the stands; and there is an empty spot for her. Candace goes all weak as she has no idea that there is a spotlight on her and she is playing The Amazing Baggo. UH OH! Phineas is going to get a Bradley-equse pounding from Buford backstage after this gaffe. So yes Buford notices that Candace is stealing his act; but doesn't run in because the catapult fly swatter device flips Candace into the air as the tent is ripped from the ceiling. And she never comes down as Phineas & Ferb claim that this is lighter than they had calculated. The implication is that they are too dumb to notice that Candace is much taller than Buford and much thinner than Buford. This is where making her fat and short and ugly would have worked better as a gag. Buford then runs in and jumps into the Aztec mudpit of doom. He waves to the crowd as he gets up and the crowd pops for him anyway. HAHA! Phineas is all confused as Ferb finally speaks about how amazing Buford really is; almost ten minutes into the episode!
So we head back to the Voicenator as Perry punches Doofen in the face on screen (which misses by four inches anyway) as Doofen plows into the switch and that breaks the entire device as there is a pipe that goes through the hole in the tent as Phineas & Ferb proclaim that they are doing their grand finale with The Amazing Perry as Perry escapes and helicopters down to ground level. They are doing the human pyramid spot at the end which has some of the most obvious logic breaking use of Economy of Characters Syndrome ever assembled. Phineas and Ferb appear in four different places at the same time as the their human pyramid is revealed. In fact, for less than a second you can see two copies of them in the same shot at the same time. Django and the Fireside Girls also appear in more than one place in the pyramid. Again; this HAD to be intentional. I should also note that the pipe is inside the tent and as Phineas is introducing the finale; his voice gets a lot higher from the Doofeium. I should point out that in real life; if this happened, it would be like carbon monoxide poisoning in that all the kids would die from a lack of oxygen. Although the tent is well ventilated; so it's not much of a logic break here. So it ends with Phineas & Ferb on the trapzee as Perry lands on the moon prop near the ceiling as Doofeium is pumped into the tent so much as the tent completely unhooks from the ground and rushes up to completely destroy the Voicenator in mid air and send Doctor Doofen for the Team Rocket exit as we get the off-screen explosion as apparently; Doofen hit something in which Doofeium is an explosive gas. His voice also goes even higher when he is crusing the hell out of Perry for his failure. As usual. I would like to say that Doofen is dead; but I wouldn't count on it. So we see all the kids and teenagers walk away from the backyard proclaiming that this circus was great and all. Meh; I think this was a *** 1/2 act at best.
So Linda's car parks in the driveway as Ferb is manning the out of nowhere levers and the entire stands get dropped down below ground. Oh why not? It's not like we haven't already seen an elevator capsule in the backyard already. So Linda and Lawerence comes out and goes to the backyard as Phineas & Ferb are sitting in front of the tree with Perry dressed up like a complete fool. Phinea tells them that they missed the cirque as Linda chuckles as if this is funny; and Perry chuckles as if it is not funny at all. So Linda shows a CD in a case and asks if they want to listen to her song. Phineas & Ferb like the idea and they all head inside and close the door. So then crawling out from the gate is Candace who is roughed up really badly; but she notices that her allergy is officially gone. Then Jermey comes in with his CD and he listened to it; and proclaims that Candace's singing was awesome. That's an understatement there pal! Sometimes Evil Boys can bring out the best in Candace. Jermey asks what Candace's secret is and Candace points out that it's the wild parsnips as we circle fade out to end the episode at 11:20 approx. Really fun episode when Doof/Perry are being silly; and Candace's singing really made up for an average idea at best for Phineas & Ferb. *** 1/4 (65%).
Toy To The World: We then begin this one with the TEDDY RUXPIN SONG OF DOOM as an anthro monkey wearing a gold/blue striped shirt is climbing a palm tree. We discover that he is Shimmy Jimmy and it's clear that the writers are not hiding the fact that he's wearing no pants as it's directly in the jingle. I'm not calling this other than the fact that there are dancing hula girls, baseball and a lot of splattering mangos. We discover that Shimmy Jimmy is a toy (which changes from brown to black fur in the logo shot) from HarDHar Toys which has it's own logo containing a laughing hyena. That is a fair warning to ANYONE who buys this product. So we head to a toy store as we see Candace in a red/pink uniform (with white) talking to a balding white haired man in the male version of the same outfit. He talks about this great toy for a bit and then leaves as Candace is giddy about her first job as employee of the HarDHar Toy Store as she notices that across from the store; there is a hot dog joint called Slushee Dawg which is where Jermey works; wearing a slighty less dumb uniform. Candace claims that she can look at him making hot dogs all day as we discover that Candace is on her "smart" phone (which is sadly pink) talking to Stacey. She talks about Jermey noticing how cute she is; and then the store clerk comes back and plops the Shimmy Jimmy hat right on Candace's head. BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Jermey notices it right away and he's ready to chuckle at a moment's notice. Candace looks shameful as the clerk notices that she has customers which are Linda, Phineas, Ferb and Perry. Candace walks forward as the store clerk tells her to do the laugh as Candace welcomes the family in the most wooden silted performance this side of a Z-grade movie. She is so fired now; but it doesn't happen. Linda tells us that she has some gifts to exchange; so she's leaving the boys here to browse around. So Linda leaves as Phineas & Ferb want Candace to do the laugh again; but Candace blows off. Now; I wish that Candace would do the Helga routine and calls Phineas "Deltahead" or something along those lines. Because that always provokes a laugh.
So the store clerk clears his throat and Candace grabs a model palm tree with a monkey on it and does this wooden acting bit about Shimmy Jimmy being the toy of the centuary which is so stupid that I cannot blame Candace for her wooden performance now. Look; just because it has monkeys in the show; doesn't mean that it's always good. Phineas & Ferb are basically onto Candace's lack of glee for the toy as they call it really old really quickly. So Candace DARES them to make a better toy; calling them geniouses. Never ever say that phrase to a creative type person because they see it as a dare and creative people have no hesistation of accepting a dare. Phineas proclaims that this is what they are going to do and we head to Sherman's Hardware store as Ferb is walking around in the background while Phineas is in a lawn chair writing stuff on a notepad. Perry is doing nothing of course because he's a pet until Doofen goes into hideously evil mode. So Ferb is running around as blue paint splatters on the ground. As this is happening, Perry just walks away stage left. Ferb returns looking like he is not messy after being messy for the background running shots. Phineas asks where Perry is as Phineas is basically wanting to create something that is so insulting that it can do anything. So we see Perry practicing the fine art of not being seen as he makes it to the Fasteners section of the store and pulls on the bag of screws. And apparently; this does the old Scooby Doo rotating wall spot as he is inside the exact same bunker he was in the previous episode; only it's next to the hardware store instead of underground. So we see Major Monogram on the screen as Perry is dressed up in his agent clothes (hat and watch of course) as Monogram is pointing out that Doctor Doofenshmirtz is stealing bricks from houses; not unlike Megavolt when he steals light bulbs from light sources. Apparently; the prison system in the Tri-state area is so overcrowded that convicts are serving their sentences in zoos. That made me laugh.
So Perry has to stop him and he runs over to a door and uses the password on the panel to open it. This reveals basically a white helicopter like device which looks similar to Beastly's ride in Care Bears: The Nelevana Edition. So we flies through the vent and into the sky as we head to the building of HarDHar Toys as the chairman of the board is a white haired guy in a brown suit as his aide wearing glasses points out on a chart that toy sales for the company have plummeted since kids don't give a crap about climbing toys anymore. A Scottish accent suit proclaims that they always made climby toys. I mean, who could forget Climbin' Simon? Or what about Ascendin' Brendan? And then of course there's Ladderman Larry. Or the classic Climby Jaimie? Ladderman Larry is at least original since most of them are basically of ape/monkey stuff anyway. I discover that the CEO of this company is known as J.B. J.B. is voiced by J.K. Simmons and according to Wikipedia (DANGER! DANGER!): Simmons is known for his TV roles as Dr. Emil Skoda, a police psychiatrist, who has appeared on three of the four incarnations of Law & Order and New York Undercover, and as the sadistic inmate Vernon Schillinger on the prison drama Oz. He also stars as Ralph Earnhardt, the father of race-car driver Dale Earnhardt, in 3: The Dale Earnhardt Story. He played B.R. in the film Thank You For Smoking and has been praised for his performance in Juno as "Mac" McGuff, the title character's father. Until recently he played Will Pope, Assistant Chief of the LAPD, in The Closer. He also played J. Jonah Jameson in all three of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man films and the expanded video game adaptation of Spider-Man 3. Simmons provided his voice for two newspaper editors in two episodes of the eighteenth season of The Simpsons.
The characters are never named, but are obviously meant to emulate the character of Jameson (one, bearing Jameson's appearance, even demands "pictures of Spider-Man", then on being reminded he works at a poetry journal, demands "poems about Spider-Man"). Similarly, Simmons voiced an editor-in-chief of a newspaper (with Jameson's appearance and mannerisms) for a 2013 episode of The Hub's Pound Puppies. Simmons also provides the voice of the yellow M&M in the product's commercials, as well as the 3-D film I Lost My M in Vegas, playing at M&M's World in Las Vegas, NV. He has also done voiceover work for Norelco razors. He also provided the voice of General Wade Eiling in Justice League Unlimited. He recorded an audio book for Tom Clancy's Net Force Point of Impact. Like many of his Law & Order co-stars, he also appeared in an episode of Homicide: Life on the Street, portraying a criminal in an episode that crossed over with Law & Order before Simmons joined the cast as Skoda. He also played a small role as an army general in the television sitcom Arrested Development, alongside his Juno co-stars, Michael Cera and Jason Bateman. As well, he played Dan the Barber in the surreal Nickelodeon kid's show The Adventures of Pete & Pete in 1995. In 2008, he had a small part as the "CIA Superior" in Burn After Reading. Simmons appears also in Postal as Candidate Wells. He has also been featured as Professor Nathaniel Burke of the University of Farmers in television commercials for Farmers Insurance Group beginning in 2010.[6] He also played Paul Rudd's father in I Love You, Man. Simmons is quickly becoming known for starring in films that are produced or directed by his friend Jason Reitman, including Thank You for Smoking, Juno, Up in the Air and Jennifer's Body, written by Juno screenwriter Diablo Cody.
He also lent his voice to Reitman's latest film Young Adult voicing the protagonist's boss through a series of voicemails. Simmons voices the character of Tenzin, an Airbending master and the son of Aang and Katara, in the 2012 Nickelodeon series The Legend of Korra. Also, he has resumed his role as the voice of J. Jonah Jameson in the animated series Ultimate Spider-Man and in The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. He said he would like to reprise the role again in Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man series, a reboot of the Spider-Man film series.[7] He began his career as a patrolman in Popeye Doyle in 1986 (!!!). Kim Possible as Martin Smarty is his DTVA debut. Tibetan Rock Dog as Khampa is his most recent credit. He has 137 acting credits and 24 self credits to his resume. Yeah; he sounds like Jame Jonah Jamieson from Spiderman as the door opens and in comes Phineas & Ferb with a tray covered in a white cloth covering the top as he proclaims that their troubles are over as they have the perfect toy to show. J.B. then asks if they are really young to be toy makers; which is funny in itself since toys are supposed to be for kids anyway. Phineas doesn't think so and then proceeds with the pointing stick as he calls it the most fresh, hip and soon to be biggest toy in the market today. Ooooo; I am gushing with excitement here. So they uncover the guy and it's a wooden model of Perry The Platypus. So J.B. asks what it does and Phineas claims that this is the best part as it does absolutely nothing...AND THE ROCK MEANS NOTHING! See; now that it doesn't do anything, it can be anything they want, as Ferb demonstrates such stuff as a race car, a horse, an airplane (Candace: MOM! Phineas & Ferb are watching TaleSpin again!) and other stuff. That is enough for J.B. to say that they are promising the moon without promising anything. He likes it; he really, really likes it! Most of the board agrees with this; except for the brown haired glasses dude with the cyan blue tie as he blows it off; calling it a stupid block of wood that doesn't do anything.
So J.B. has a joystick (I see someone is overcompenstating here) and pushes a button which opens a trapdoor below the chair and the exec is dropped into what appears to be a watery pit of hungry hyenas judging by the off-screen howls. Folks; that dude is dead. That's the end of him in Phineas & Ferb. We're not screwing around here as a pink suit, pink shirt dude with a black tie and brown hair drops from the ceiling into a new chair and proclaims that this is a great idea. Then he asks what are they talking about. HA! So JB approves of the toy and therefore he'll double their salaries as Phineas points out that they never made a salary; so JB proclaims that he'll triple it. HA! Still makes it zero though as JB opens the door to the FACTORY OF INTENSE BOREDOM as we see some How It's Made stuff; only it seems to be the director's cut version as everyone in the factory is bored, asleep, or soon to be dead from the machinery as they sleep on the conveyer belt. JB leaves as Phineas calls this all boring and it's time for a major makeover. Which means we do the TEDDY RUXPIN SONG OF DOOM and a parody of Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. Complete with a parody of blueberry Ommpa-Lommpas. The employee look like violet Robin Hoods, we have bubble smoke from straw painted pipes. This is basically okay; but the best part is that the new yes-man that got hired earlier is fully getting into the "Perry The Super Platypus" angle well already; which is a rib on the SNES in 1991. And yes; people complained about it being the same video game system too. I will say that the How It's Made Phineas style is a whole lot better than the original; and the new exec is really pushing the envelope in terms of hilarious nothingness. HAHA! Death reference #2 ensues for thes two episodes. Phineas & Ferb wear detective outfits in order to force the point that he's just a damn platypus. HAHA! Someone complains about the outfits; but the other builder claims that it gives him purpose. Thus he hates his life as I discover that the same guy who was working in the toy store with Candace is now working in the factory.
By the way; platypi are monotrems; not marsupials Mr. Yes Man who needs a biology lesson. Speaking of the Oompa-Lompas; we have a chocolate river and here they come in a rowboat as they address themselves as the Badinkadinks. Okay; that was funny. Apparently; they are tired of making foam peanuts and snipping tabs off plastic, so now that they are free, they will lay waste to the surface dwellers. Phineas just looks at them and tells them to carry on. HAHA! Next poster involving the Yes-man; is Perry Platypus...International....SUPER SPY~! HAHA! You can guess what Phineas' reaction is now. So Ferb goes over and gives the actual poster to the Yes-Man who opens it up and reveals Perry The Platypus as an Inaction Figure that does nothing! HA! They swiped that from those Inaction Heroes commercial I saw years ago. I cannot remember the product they were selling; but I remember the Suck Up one the most which is fitting considering that the Yes-Man doing these promo is about as Mr. Suck Up as you can get. Balloons and confetti rain down on cue as they load up the inaction figures into the trucks and haul them out of the toy factory and into the street. This ends the montage with about three and half minutes to go in the episode. So we do a segueway to a truck driving in front of a building called Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorperated Annex Building-K. Not only that; it even gets a jingle song for it. Get use to it guys! You'll be hearing this jingle in nearly every episode in this series; and you'll get sick of it. So we head inside as Perry is hiding behind some crates as we get a sequence of the JAWS OF HALF LIFE grabbing bricks and putting them into the back of trucks. Perry then just stands there and one of the JAWS OF HALF LIFE opens up above him and drops bricks on him; which happen to create a brick prison in perfect sequence. Yeah; that was a dumb move on Perry's part as Doofen mocks him with a remote control and a tray with a white cloth covering it. So Doofen is happy to see him and he whips off the cover to reveal a 1/100th scale model replica of the Tri-State area.
He then uses the remote control as we see a huge circular brick wall surrounding the model as Doofen proclaims that the citizens will be cut off from the rest of the world. That would be more convincing if there were not at least three tunnels shown for that brick wall. However; there is a point to this evil madness as he is going to put toll booths in front of the wall and make the denizens pay through the nose so to speak. What a bastard this Doofenshmirtz is? He stole that idea from Crock in The Wuzzles. So Perry is standing upright as this proves to be a segueway to a toy shelf as the store clerk from earlier (who was also a worker for the toy factory) giving one of the wooden Platypus toys to a brown haired boy in green shorts, pink sneakers and a green shirt; who is with a fatter blond haired boy wearing a purple/pink striped shirt with gray pants and gray shoes. I discover that the brown haired kid is Balthazar Horowitz; aka Ballpit Kid. He's voiced by Django Marsh (!!!). He only has four acting credits: Legion as Minivan Boy, Hop as Young EB and Wini + George as Party Boy. Phineas & Ferb is his DTVA debut and only appearance; and he was on Piper's Quick Picks. He is also Jeff Marsh's son for the two of you who still care. The blond haired boy is Little Timmy by the way. Balthazar is giddy about this inaction figure and he leaves with Little Timmy; and apparently, we never see him pay for the toy. No wonder the sales are plummetting. So the store clerk calls for Candace and she comes out of the dressing room looking like the Perry Platypus Inaction Figure. She complains about being number two which the store clerk thinks is spirit and he shoves Candace forward to bring in new customers. Candace looks at the Slushee Dawg and sees that Jermey is not there. Candace takes this as a blessing and that Jermey is having a smoke break. However; we see him poking Candace's shoulder and she gets startled as Jermey is surprised because he couldn't tell if there was a girl in there. That is sexist Jeremy! Candace giggles like she is insecure and Jeremy leaves as Candace is watching on the television set proclaiming that this isn't worth $3.50 an hour anymore.
So the television reporter is a red haired female in a blue dress as she is intervewing Phineas & Ferb in the mall! I know this because Phineas is waving to Candace during the interviewing and praising her new suit. HAHA! Phineas explains all on Perry as Candace is not amused and brings out the "smart" phone to call Linda...AGAIN! So we see Linda in a long lineup at the exchange counter as the cast of characters is so colorful, I swear that they are from the Village People. Linda is on her blue smart phone as she tells Candace to calm down and she'll be there as soon as she is done. So we return to the Annex Building-K as the bricks are being loaded; so Perry casually pushes one of the bricks on his right and it pushes through and causes the brick prison to crumble down into brick. Doofen is on the catwalk surprised by this logic break sequence and stretching right arm of Perry. Then he covers up the logic break nicely by admitting that he failed to use cement to stick the bricks together. What an idiot?! So we see Doofen on some sort of lift proclaiming that he'll never be caught by Perry; ande then we jump cut to the roof as Doof and Perry have a Scooby Doo Chase Sequence, only the heel is being chased by the babyface. So the chase continues as Doofen proclaims that he cannot be stopped by Perry or a billion Perries as he steps onto the glass ceiling roof and pops through right into the boxes containing those wooden inaction figures; which Doofen panics like mad. HAHA! See; make the joke and then pay it off. Doofen somehow makes it on the conveyer belt and is panicking like mad; pleading for someone to get those Perries off of him. HAHA! The two worker simply look bored and then talk about a nail biting football game or something. So Doofen blows this off as distrubing and then he drops down the slide and gets coated with Perries; which leads to him being sealed up in a box and loaded onto a pallet. Yay!
AGENT P~ drops down from a rope after him; and then Phineas & Ferb show up; so Perry freezes like a statue; in which Phineas gets mad and blows off the workers for screwing the design up. HAHA! See folks; Phineas does have more than one emotion, he just knows how to use them and not abuse them. So Perry gets tossed into the rejection bin and then as Phineas & Ferb leave; he goes to the pallet as Doofenshmirtz curses Perry; and then gets loaded onto a forklift and driven to a tugboat on the docks. Nice attention to detail spot: Doofen actually states that he smells seawater. So the tugboat leaves the harbour as Doofen is worried because if he's on a boat, that he gets seasick. We then pan over to Perry flying the Beastly helicopter ride as we head to HarDHar headquarters and go inside to see the board meeting again. J.B. has only underwear on and when he asks about the new look; everyone approves of it. HAHA! Ferb speaks for the second time in as many episodes by pointing out that the CEO literally has no clothes. JB doesn't care as he thanks Phineas and forgets Ferb's name in the process. HAHA! Perry the Inaction Figure is a hit and he wants them to come up with the next idea. Phineas states that he's retiring from the business which surprises JB because they are on the top of their game. Phineas states that he's going home to eat fried chicken for supper and waves goodbye. JB is not happy to hear that and wants ideas NOW! So the Yes-Man brings out a brick proclaiming that he found this somewhere in his office as someone threw it through the window. So Perry did this? Because we never saw what happened after Perry saw Doofen loaded up. Bad logic break there guys! So the clueless execs call this a genius move and we get one of the dumbest ads in the fake world of cartoons as they show bricks with letters on and a kid just saying, it's fun. We segueway to Phineas' living room as Phineas, Ferb and Perry are sitting down eating fried chicken. Phineas blows it off like Baloo blows off television. At least this toy has a worse chance of succeeding than television. HA! Ferb proclaims that it does absolutely nothing...
...and then we go to the ED. Normally I would skip the ED's; but Phineas & Ferb makes great use of them by doing some small segment which is usually funny. Usually. However; this one is basically the full Brick promo and then kids flock to buy a brick from the store. HAHA! The store clerk at the counter is so happy as we pan over to Candace behind the lineup dressed up as a brick and blowing off the kids. HAHA! So Jermey notices her and cannot believe the stuff they wear nowadays. However; Jermey proceeds to put a hat on which has a hot dog on the top; and it's shaped like a penis having an errection. I'm not making this up. I would be offended by this; but this is nothing compared to the "weiner is in the snitchel" promo Dumptruck did in Ransom Of The Red Chimp. Candace is charmed; proclaiming that he understands her and feels her pain as we end the episode at 12:00 approx. Really good episode with some wonky logic breaks near the end. Dan and Jeff at least know how to pay off a joke properly and it shows here compared to Kick Buttowski and even Fish Hooks. Perry/Doof was good and even the idea Phineas had made for entertaining television overall. **** 1/4 (85%).
THE REVIEW LINE
So we finally got the first two Phineas & Ferb episodes in the book; and both of them were above average to really good. Jerk De Soleil was pretty good; but the circus act was just there and wasn't one of Phineas' better idea as it came off as rookie night. However; the high voice angle with Doofenshmirtz and Perry more than made up for it, and Candace was really awesome during her singing sequence when she called the boys evil. That was great. So this one felt like an average Phineas love in; which is not as good as with Kim Possible's lead in, but still better than most of the first episodes with Fish Hooks and Kick Buttowski. Toy To The World was much funnier and didn't even require much fantasy to pull off. The whole toy MO of kids buying anything was a great rib which proves my point of: If they are stupid enough to buy into bad shows; then they should be stupid enough to buy into GOOD classical shows too. Phineas's blowoff of the brick at the end was hilarious; as well as most of the Perry/Doof stuff. I love how the writers are actually paying off the actual jokes and making them funny. It feels like they know what they are doing; without making it look contrived. The Willy Wonka parody spot was just there sadly because the Yes-Man stuff was funnier than it. JB is an idiot; but I sort of expected this from the new Disney, so at least it was HAHA stupid; instead of just stupid. Overall; we have a pretty good start to this show. So next up is It's A Mud, Mud, Mud, Mud World and I, Brobot. So....
Thumbs in the middle for Jerk De Soleil and thumbs up for Toy To The World for this episode and I'll see you all next time.
