Phineas & Ferb: Cheer Up Candace/Robot Rodeo

Reviewed: 02/25/2014

Cheer Up Candace! No One Likes A Robot Rodeo In The Backyard Either!

Next up is the halfway point of Animal Agents. I know that is hard to believe; but here we are. So we have episode #76 (2-17a) and #96 (2-29b) on the animation paper as Candace is depressed since Jeremy canceled his date with her so Phineas decides to cheer her up with the most absurd spinning top ever. Perry is now been framed for a crime he didn't commit too. Then Candace must be focused to go to a concert with Stacey while Phineas and Ferb build a robot rodeo in the backyard. Meanwhile; Doofensmirtz is trying to win a competition for the best inator ever. Yeap; we're back to status quo this time around. Let's rant on shall we...?!

Cheer Up Candace is written and storyboarded by Michael Diederich and Perry Zambolas. The direction is done by Robert F. Hughes, story by May Chan. Traffic Cam Caper is written and storyboarded by J.G. Orrantia and Kaz. Direction is done by Jay Lender, story by May Chan. Story editing for both episodes are done by Scott Peterson. Animation is done by Rough Draft.

Cheer Up Candace: We begin this one with Isabella and her camera on a tripod. We discover that she is taking a remote control picture of Phineas & Ferb's house of cards version of Temple of Angkor Wat (a religious temple in Cambodia by the way); and this one is life-sized. Using crane lifters no less to build. When Phineas thinks big; it's life-sized! Phineas wonders where Candace is because she would love this. I'm sure she would; and then she can bust you both later. So we head to Candace's room as she is reading another beauty magazine on her bed. It's called QuazMo magazine and it's ten times to become better. I have one way to become better: Stop acting like a complete fool. Then the cellphone rings and we get the triangle split screen with Jeremy as he has canceled the date because something came up. He never explains what that something came up as Candace stands there stunned. Now why didn't Jeremy just explain why he has to cancel the date? I mean; even if you believe that "well; if he told her, then the episode is over" nonsense; Candace is obessed with Jeremy and dating him; so even if Jeremy explains it and has justification to cancel the date, the result is exactly the same: Candace is stoned so much that Jeremy thinks he's been cut off and hangs up. In other words; Candace would have acted like her world just got crushed anyway. It's like they are trying to justify Candace's reaction; which is irrational no matter how you slice and dice it. Then Candace decides to think that hanging up and cancelling a date is fine; but she decides to read the magazine, and yes folks, she's hooked on it like a drug because she believes what it says. How do I know this? The second after she looks in the magazine; she puts it down and begins to whimper. Cut back to Phineas & Ferb on the forklifts as Phineas offers Ferb to put the last card on. Ferb tries to; but Candace does the loudest whine I have ever seen and no amount of cheese could ever be as cheesy as Candace crying like a little baby. So much so that Tarzan King of The Drapes could hear it from 3000 miles away in Disgraceland. What? I'm as confused as Tarzan is when he yodels back, no reason.

So Candace is on her bed stunned as we see outside the window Phineas & Ferb on the forklifts wearing firefighter helmets out of nowhere. Yes; their house of cards fell down into a pile, why do you ask? Candace calls them dweebs and tells them to get lost because she's having a crisis of being a rigid gender role female. Phineas & Ferb bring the forklifts down to ground level wondering what to do with Candace's crisis as Isabella brings out her Tween Bleep magazine which is purple. Damn; the one female girl has stooped to Candace's low. Isabella tells us that the first rule of cheering someone up is a complete makeover as Phineas & Ferb bail to go see someone who can do makeup and hairstyles. Isabella is confused about this as she wants to earn her makeover patch; and then asks where Perry is. So we see Agent P run to a doghouse which has a white dog sleeping in it. I don't recall Phineas having a dog now that the one from It'a About Time is dead and bones in the museum. So he opens the front of the doghouse and enters inside. When he closes the front; the dog looks confused. Yes folks; the whole front of the doghouse contains the dog; and somehow Perry was able to get in. So Perry goes into OWCA headquarter via a door and sits in front of the computer. Then; in a twist of fate, Agent E and Arf are right behind him and look fatter than ever as we hear Major Monogram sobbing. He stammers and we don't see his face because the hard camera is focused on Agent's P and E and D. PED. Oh my god! I just realized what reprehensible behavior Agent P has done over the last few days. He tested positive for performance enhancing drugs! I told that platypus that Larson & Gary are much more evil than Doofensmirtz, Poofenplotz and Love Muffin combined; but nooooooooo. He had to test out the magic elixir Ben Johnson took to see if it was safe for animal consumpation. And considering how big Agent E and D are on; I'm guessing that they were in on it too and pinned the blame on Agent P to deflect their massive size. Yeah; it makes no sense, but it's not like Monogram is smart anyway.

No folks; it's not PEDs that Agent P has done. Agent P has been caught stealing money, running from police officers and littering. Wait; that's Ma Beagle! It's so obvious Agent P has been framed and I betcha Agent D was the one who started it as he was in on the conspiracy to get a dognose back into a DTVA show. Apparently; reading cereal boxes is a crime too as we see footage of Perry pushing over trash cans; stealing sacks of money and throwing it away at the police while driving a car. Wait; so Agent P gave the money back to the police? So Perry has joined the police force of Danville? That is so underhanded that only the police of Danville would pull this off. Monogram is shown on screen with tears in his eyes and Karl is screaming "Why'd do it?" while Monogram blows him off for not letting him finish. I guess he cannot discharged Agent P if Karl asks why; which is really lackluster justice if you ask me. So Monogram has no choice, despite having the only useful agent in the force, has too much compelling evidence to not discharge him. Huh? That's it? I mean; this makes no sense because after Monogram finally lets Karl say why did he do it, he tells Agent E and D to handcuff Agent P. Why didn't Monogram just say that he was putting Agent P under arrest? I mean; is there something I'm not seeing here. Anyhow; Agent P dodges and both agent handcuff each other like Hulk Hogan did to Slick and Boss Man at Main Event #2 in 1989. So Perry bails stage left and the other agents chase him like a Scooby Doo chase sequence only it involves Agent L (Canadian loon) bringing in a wooden chair for fun. So we cut back to Candace sitting on her bed and she is on her cellphone talking to Stacey, informing her that Jeremy has lost interest in her because the magazine is always right see. Stacey tells her that she'll be right there; and then there is a knock on the door. Candace calls this impossibly fast; and opens it to reveal Mr. Shuffles. Okay; it's not him, it's just some clown with a lime green doctor's bag and squeeze horn. It's Shlocko the clown by the way as Shlocko goes to the same magic bag store as Eleroo and Felix The Cat.

So Candace gets dressed in a blue clown suit and is forced to sit down as she protests this outrage. Even more so when Shlocko brings out the big ass CLOWN PIE OF DEATH and Candace takes it right in the kisser; and then leaves honking. The CLOWN PIE OF DEATH just turns her into a clown with white makeup; which has become the gimmick for Candace at this point. Stacey then walks in and is stunned to see Candace as Candace looks into the conveniently placed mirror and we repeat the scream spot of death; only Tarzan King Of The Drapes gets beat down by monkeys. That was actually funnier than the last one. So we head back outside in front of the house as Phineas thanks Schlocko (wow; I almost got the name right actually) for trying at least. Schlocko frowns and leaves as Isabella walks in with her magazine. Phineas proclaims that a clown makeover was a bad idea. Isabella gleefully retorts that one for me as she reads on and the number two way to cheer someone up is to make them laugh because it is often the best medicine. UH OH! I think we know where this is going and I like the prospect. Phineas proclaims that this is a great idea because he remembers what happened when Candace got her head stuck in the sink. Ooookkkkkaaayyyyy; that was too much information there Phineas! So we head to Candace's room as Stacey wants to get ice cream now because when it comes to stereotypes, ice cream is the solution. When Phineas is the enlightened one; you know the writers don't care about splash damage. So Stacey opens the door as Candace is back to her usual sulky self, and we see Phineas dressed in a tuxedo as the hallway looks different for some reason. So Stacey and Candace follow Phineas and I just realized that the hallway has turned into a nightclub. Yes; we're going to do Improv tonight which cannot end well for Candace, in the same way it didn't end well for Sandy Sweetcheeks and Spongebob. Squirrel jokes are an ass to deal with, let me tell ya! So there is about 30 people in this nightclub as Candace and Stacey get a circular table close to the stage. Yeah; this is not going to end well for Candace.

So Phineas gets on stage which has a piano player playing the piano on the left side of the stage. I discover that in cheese colored lettering, this is known as the HAHA Hut. Hey! HAHA is MY gimmick you gimmick infringer! So Phineas is on the microphone and introduces us to the math funny man known as Baljeet who is sitting in front of the microphone on a stool with a wooden doll that looks like him; along with a glass of water. You can guess where that water is going without me telling ya. I know this goes against BS&P; but a glass of wine or can of beer would make this a funny twist. The doll is called Little Jeet and apparently he went to New Delhi. I can smell the deli meat reference coming a mile away; and the crowd is dead on cue as Little Jeet blows him off and we do the water drinking spot called the Pythagorean theorem and Baljeet chokes and spits the out; beheading Little Jeet's head just before Little Jeet can complete the educational promo. Because you see; if you do a spot that is supposed to be educational and funny, kids will change the channel because they want to get away from school; not be reminded of it. Which is kind of like blasting a movie for having bible references and saying that it's false advertisting because apparently; the bible and entertainment can not, do not and will never mix. If that makes any sense to you; do not get into the reviewing gig. Trust me; you'll thank me for that free advice. Phineas tells the crowd to get a hand for the dummy; which he is implying that Baljeet is the dummy because he also states that the puppet isn't bad either; which earns a drum cymbal whack from Ferbs on drums. Out of nowhere as usual. Phineas then announces that he has a stand up comedy comic named Broccoli Top. And then we pan over as we see Buford with out of control green hair and a box of junk; and wearing a t-shirt with a screw and a tennis ball. So Buford is implying that he loves to screw Vince's balls? Ooookkkkkkaaaayyy.

Buford proclaims that he's doing prop comedy and they will like it. So he brings out a house for a mouse which shatters as it's slips and falls on the wooden stage. Then a math book. Then an oyster shell and the crowd is completely dead as he puts it back in the box. The only part of note is Buford somehow grabbing Baljeet from the box as Baljeet is gleeful to be in both acts; and gets tossed away. Crowd boos that one out of the building as Candace proclaims that this is not helping her at all. Buford wants to knuckle up; but Phineas cuts him off because it's Ferb Flynn-Fletcher's turn as he walks on stage. He starts talking about airline food and of course everyone is laughing at everything he said. This has to be a rib on iCarly's use of the heat machine, there's no other way to explain it because Ferb isn't even telling jokes. He's just talking. Candace feels worse as Stacey is laughing and then asks what about the airline food as Phineas is backstage and realizes that this is not working. So we do the flip-flop scene changer of doom and head outside with Phineas (still in tuxedo), Ferb (still realizing why he rarely speaks) and Isabella (still with lying magazine) as Phineas asks for number three. So Isabella tells us that they should introduce someone new to Candace. Phineas proclaims that this should be easy as there are nice people in Danville; so he has a Krackpotkin plan to counter that. So we finally cut to Doofensmirtz's Evil Inc. as we get serious music and "Agent P" shown carrying a sack of something into the building from the ground floor. Zoom out to see the real Agent P looking on. Agent P uses his grappling hook and shoots up onto the walls and climbs up. He jumps into the lab where there are at least ten Perries surrounding Doofensmirtz. Doofensmirtz greets him as he proclaims that he finally realized how to defeat Perry: Do the proper way of doing Double Darkwings by playing fire with fire. Yes folks; he means that he was playing with real fire and during this decided to destroy and discredit Perry using clones of Perry. Doofensmirtz really needs help with his rational thinking skills.

So he introduces us to his cloning machine with lime green pipes called the Plata-Proliferator-inator as the door opens and out comes a "Perry" with a fedora hat put on it's head by a robot arm. The clones' eyes glow red as Doofensmirtz gives them booking names as one of them breaks some sticks for fun. The only one of note is Jerry who is a fatass drooling platypus who pulls a lead pipe out of nowhere and hits Doofensmirtz about three times in the groin. Oh; I see what the shirt Buford was wearing was for. So the agent clones blitz Agent P as Perry breaks out a lead pipe and smacks some clones for a while before becoming completely subdued. Doofensmirtz and Jerry the drooling agent are sitting in lawn chairs cheering ans sharing a bowl of popcorn; because Doofensmirtz has feelings for him. Sadly; Perry makes the babyface comeback and pops from the clone tomb. Doofensmirtz doesn't like this as we head back to the street on the sidewalk as Candace is whining about Jeremy not answering his cellphone. Then we see Baljeet and Little Jeet arrive in a bellhop uniform and sandals showing off a two page flyer which reads Mixer Mingler; which Candace is cordially invited to. Candace then asks if Little Jeet is the dummy from the nightclub and Little Jeet does the best counter by claiming that she means Baljeet. HAHA! Candace blows this off as a lame attempt to cheer her up; and so we have Stacey dragging her to the backyard as the Mixer Mingler is simply a cross between the Roulette Wheel Spinner in the amusement park and a Christian Mingler type website; only with real males. Phineas is at the top of the amusement park ride telling everyone to fasten their seatbelts; as Jeremy is so much on the brain of Candace that it prevents her from busting the boys. That; and the fact that Linda doesn't appear in this episode, so it's pointless. So we Mix & Mingle complete with Teddy Ruxpin song of doom. I'm not calling this; but believe it or not; this is actually a direct reference to the Mingle option in Wii combined with the Monorail song in The Simpsons. Lots of talking and rhyming; but little else. It's a fine song; but none of the stuff was funny or anything.

So we head back to the lab as Perry kicks the clones' asses and beheads a few of them with the lead pipe. Then Perry jumps onto the lawnchair and Jerry slingshots right into the red button which makes the machine go in reverse. Ooops. Jerry lands in the conveyer belt and this creates a vacuum effect as all the clones gets sucked up by the machine. Something tells me this was originally a vacuum sealer as Doofensmirtz gets slingshotted into the opening of the machine and we head off-screen to outside DEI as Perry escape via his handglider device and the device explodes as the body parts go flying into the air and all around. Doofensmirtz curses the platypus of course as the parts go flying into the gears of the Mixer Mingler which causes the ride to completely deattch from the rest of the machine and go flying into the air. Phineas & Ferb pull strings on their devices and Phineas yells that they have to make an emergency ejection as the seats all spring up from the ride and then they come down with parachutes. No one can accuse Phineas & Ferb of not knowing safety first; that is for certain. We see Phineas over top of Candace and Stacey; as Phineas admits that in hindsight, ice cream is more effective as Stacey states that this proves her point. We cut over to Agent P on his handglider as Monogram is on the monitor watch sobbing about realizing that Perry was innocent of all charges; and he's reinstated. Karl blows a streamer in Monogram's face for fun and his annoyance. So we head into the park BEFORE HAPPY HOUR (sunset) as Candace and Stacey are in the park as Stacey proclaims that ice cream always makes her feel better. So we pan over to the ice cream freezer as a blond haired man in a green shirt and white apron is waving to a kid who is bailing stage right. If you cannot guess who he is; you have no business reading this rant. He turns around and yes folks; it's Jeremy. Jeremy greets Candace and admits that he didn't want to break the date; but he needed to gain some extra money for said date. Candace is so happy to hear that as we do a jump cut and notice Jeremy and Candace riding in the park on a horse and carriage with a British man wearing a top hat.

Candace is so dreamy about this as Jeremy is glad that he picked someone who doesn't freak out when a date is postponed (he sezs canceled; but cancel means "it never will happen"). Of course; this would probably had been avoided if Jeremy had explained WHY he was canceling the date. Idiot plot is idiot plot. Candace stammers and throws away her magazine as the carriage rides away from the hard camera. So we fade to black and this ED is probably one of the most awesome things I have seen in a long time: Candace is wrestling an alligator in the sewers wearing a Fireside Girls uniform. Phineas & Ferb don't know what to make of it. I do; and it kicks ass! Phineas & Ferb cheer on and wants her to pin it. So we roll in the sewers as Candace has the alligator in a choke hold (WWE normally would cut this out; although it was with the hands, so I guess they would allow it) and then we head off-screen as Phineas shows his watch because this is taking forever. Then we hear a chomping sound off-screen and Phineas proclaims that this is going to leave a mark; and Ferb responds: "Yes. On the alligator". Implying that Candace bit the alligator! SCORE! This is the best Candace scene ever; and it has absolutely nothing to do with this episode! That ends the episode at 10:44. Great ending (even if it is supposed to be from another episode) to an otherwise completely average episode. Baljeet's dummy was more over than the real thing; which is a really BAD sign for Baljeet now as a character. Call it *** (60%).

Robot Rodeo: We begin this one in the backyard with Phineas & Ferb reading yellow magazines; and the picture on the cover looks like a cigar rocket (!!!). They cannot decide what to do as Isabella shows up in her Fireside Girls uniform asking what they are doing. Phineas is trying to figure this one out and asks Isabella if the Fireside Girls need anyone achievement patches. Isabella checks her notes and proclaims that she needs a Rodeo Clown patch as Baljeet and Buford comes in. Baljeet asks what a rodeo clown is and Buford proclaims that it's someone who shoves bulls around; like when Buford pushes Baljeet to the ground. Baljeet claims that this would be helpful as Phineas proclaims that they'll build robots and have a robot rodeo; as he then asks where Perry is. So we are in OWCA headquarters with Perry sitting down in front of the computer. Major Monogram is on screen as he informs Agent P that Love Muffin is back and having some huge gathering somewhere; and none of the agents sent there have reported back. Monogram fears that they have been captured and Agent P must find them and stop Love Muffin. Perry salutes him; and we head to Candace's room as Candace is doing a cosplying of shooting funs claiming that Tiny Cowboy is their favorite band ever. Stacey calms her down and tells her that she cannot go with her. See; it's not because Mrs. Hirano hates Candace; it's because she's flighty and not focused, and Tiny Cowboy is a grown up band; thus she wants someone grounded and matured. Candace doesn't understand until she blows off Ferb for using a band saw; which forces Stacey to yell at her to focus. Candace claims that she can be grounded and mature. BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! No, really. She's not making a funny here. I wish she was actually. Candace claims that she'll fake it long enough to convince Mrs. Hirano; as they hold hands and scream in unison. This is not going to end well for either of them.

So we head to an inn called the Quantity Inn which has a sign in the front that sezs: Welcome Love Muffin. I'm guessing this hotel mistakenly thought Love Muffin was a band. We hear a male judge tell us that this is the second annual Inator Creator Contest who is a brown haired male with a black tuxedo and a full on beard and mustache. He's on stage with all the other evil scientists watching him. It's basically a convention with a science fair project for grownups. Only it's evil. The judge introduces Rodney; who was last year's winner as Rodney walks down the aisle and he shows off his N8R championship belt; which indicates that evil scientists love professional wrestling. Everyone gasps as Doofensmirtz is mingling with one of the fatass scientists who states that he'll win this year because his inator will be greater this year; making sure to remind them that he doesn't mean cheese grater. And then he looks not thrilled and walks away stage left. I'm guessing the judge is voiced by Robert Knepper and according to Wikipedia (DANGER! DANGER!): Although Knepper never intended to work in film and television projects, he began his television and film career in 1986 with The Paper Chase and That's Life!. Knepper went on to have larger roles in such films as Wild Thing, Young Guns II, When the Bough Breaks and Everyone Says I Love You. He also made appearances on well known television series such as The Twilight Zone, Star Trek: The Next Generation, ER and Law & Order. Through this time Knepper still continued to do theatre work. In 2005, after a recurring role on the HBO series Carnivàle, Knepper was cast in his most well known role, as Theodore "T-Bag" Bagwell in Prison Break. The series received positive reviews upon release and T-Bag is often considered to be one of the greatest television villains of all time.[3][4] During his time on Prison Break, Knepper also starred in a number of films; Good Night, and Good Luck, Hitman, Transporter 3 and The Day the Earth Stood Still.

After Prison Break ended in 2009, Knepper was cast as villain Samuel Sullivan in the fourth and final season of Heroes.[5] After this Knepper went on to have a recurring role in Stargate Universe in 2010 and guest-starred on season six of Criminal Minds as Rhett Walden, a serial killer. The same year he played the titular character in the film adaptation of Burning Daylight.[6] In 2011, he reprised his role of T-Bag in one episode of the A&E series Breakout Kings. The next year he played Frank Sinatra in the film My Way, biopic of Claude François, a French pop singer who wrote the song "Comme d'habitude", the original version of Sinatra's song "My Way". Knepper was cast in the 2013 television series Cult as Roger Reeves, an actor playing Billy Grimm on a show called Cult [7] The show was cancelled after only one season. The same year, he also starred in the films R.I.P.D., Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters and guest starred on the television series The Blacklist, playing the titular character in the episode "The Courier". At the end of 2013 the TNT series Mob City premiered, in which Knepper played gangster Sid Rothman.[8] He began his career as Steve Larwin in That's Life and The Paper Chase (Howard) in 1986 (!!!). Phineas & Ferb is his DTVA debut and only appearance. The Hoarder (Vince) and The Hunger Games - Mockingjay Part 2 (Antonius) are his most recent credits. He has 108 acting credits and 11 Self credits to his resume. So we head back to Candace's room as Stacey and Candace are trying to make each other give that focused look of doom. Apparently; fake glasses are the symbol of real focus which has got to be a prank pulled by Stacey to get out of Tiny Cowboy. Anyhow; we hear Ferb calling for cowgirls and cowpokes; which puts Candace's phaser to "Bust Phineas & Ferb" mode as she goes to the window and we see a rodeo track as two kids are bucking on robotic horses.

Candace wants to bust them brothers and tries to go to the cellphone; but Stacey stops her. Why? Because that is why Candace is flighty and unfocused. Why didn't you just tell her that from the start? Candace goes into resist mode as Stacey calls it a big responsibility as Candace claims to look at Linda as we see Linda in the kitchen looking at cherry white frosted three layer cake and saying "Cake is a sometimes food" again and again. So we head to the rodeo and zoom in on the fence; and damn the zoom in was choppy and not believable as Ferb is on the podium wearing a top hat and what appears to be an ascot with a red ribbon string. Ferb wants the cowboys and cowgirls to get it on them little doggies; even short ones. Ferb tells everyone to try the veal as we see Baljeet come through with the steel robotic bull into the arena and we invoke the TEDDY RUXPIN SONG OF DOOM MONTAGE and we're not even three and a half minutes in. Phineas is on violin and Ferb is on keyboard guitar against a blue nut and bolts background. There is also a weird design on the peach floor as I just realize that there is no fiddle or violin in this musical piece. Here's a hint writers: If you are going to use modern music, make sure it matches what they are playing; otherwise, change the thing that they are playing. Gretchen is literally a rodeo clown as she's dressed like a clown too. Baljeet gets bucked barely thirty seconds in as Isabella balances perfectly on it's back with lasso rope background. Yes; robot bull can dance and poop nuts and bolts with flies. Why do you ask? Holly and Milly are taunting the bull into the Bugs Bunny target spot and the bull hits the target everytime despite the girls being beside the wooden target. Holly goes under a trap door underneath the arena (huh?) as Buford tames a bull which is BULLSHEET! I know; I should have said that when we saw the nuts & bolts poop; but whatever. Isabella and Ferb outclass everyone; and this was a fun song with lame dance moves and bad choice of music. So we see Agent P heading to the Quanitity Inn and inside as Doofensmirtz uses the CUFF ROD OF DOOM to capture Perry with ease. Yeah; this is too easy.

So Doofensmirtz shows him the Inhospitiality Suite which is basically a similar barrier wall about 20 feet high; only it's 50 feet wide and has all the agents in them. Agent P is plopped in with them and that is that; as Doofensmirtz was blowing him off for not showing up on time. Then we see Rodney and I swear to god he sounds like Marvin The Martian from Looney Tunes. Fatso member and freaky hairdo member (yeah; I'm sounding like the Agony Booth again) are with him as Rodney blows him off for monologing with Perry because they want to see the Inator. This is Rodney's fourth appearance on this show as he taunts Doofensmirtz for renting a private room because he's still making his and the evil scientists laugh it up. Doofensmirtz blows him off and basically tells him that he's going to make Rodney cry for his mommy; which Rodney gleefully retorts before they leave stage left. Doofensmirtz steals Don Karnage's "It makes me so angry" promo; and sorry Doofen, Don Karnage is cooler than you doing that promo. So he goes in admitting that he's right as the private room is filled with inator designs on the walls all crossed out. HA! There is only a fog machine present and that was for special effects as he's going to fog out the contest to buy him some time. Well; it's not the dumbest Krackpotkin plan ever, so why not? We head outside to the backyard as Stacey and Candace with fake glasses on; walk out right into the rodeo. Candace teases the busting urge as Phineas is having a good time asking Candace if she is liking this. Candace is flustered; but Stacey manages to talk her out of it and keep her eyes on the prize. So we head to a living room which I believe is Doctor Hirano because we see her for the fourth time in this series (I only mentioned her in I, Brobot) and she is a black haired female with a red sports jacket and black shirt; with white pants and matching red heels. Linda and Hirano are having tea which leads to the "Aren't you a little young to be doing this spot" and Hirano sezs that her mother never let her go to a concert by herself. And she answers it like she's a robot; which is not a good first impression.

Dr. Hirano is voiced by Ming-Na also known as Ming Wen and according to the Phineas Wikia (Huh?): Wen's most prominent role may be as Dr. Jing-Mei "Deb" Chen on the NBC drama series ER. She first guest starred during the first season. Five years later, she was invited back as a series regular in Season 6 and remained on the show until midway through Season 11. Wen starred in the movie version of Amy Tan's novel The Joy Luck Club and played Chun-Li in Street Fighter. She also appeared in a supporting role on the comedy series The Single Guy which starred Jonathan Silverman. Wen also provided the voice for the title character in Disney's animated movie Mulan, and its sequel Mulan II, as well as reprising her role in the Square Enix/Disney video game Kingdom Hearts II, Aki Ross in the computer animated film Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, and Detective Ellen Yin in the animated series The Batman. She was also the voice actress for Jade, a minor character in the HBO animated series Spawn. Earlier in her career, Wen played Lien Hughes from 1988 to 1991 on the long running series As the World Turns. In 2004, she took part in a Hollywood Home Game on the World Poker Tour, and won. In fall 2005, she starred on the NBC drama series Inconceivable as the lead character, Rachel Lu. However, the series was canceled after only a couple episodes. Her next TV role was an FBI agent in the Fox kidnap drama series Vanished, which premiered in the fall of 2006 then was canceled roughly three months later. She also has played a small role as a college professor in the comedy series George Lopez. On October 8 through October 29, 2007, Wen (billed as Ming Wen) appeared in a four-episode arc of CBS' Two and a Half Men playing Charlie Sheen's love interest, a judge closer to his own age.

In November 2008, she guest-starred on two ABC series: Private Practice and Boston Legal. On December 5–6, 2008, Wen starred in a benefit production of the musical Grease with "Stuttering" John Melendez at the Class Act Theatre. She was cast as a regular in the Stargate Universe television series as political attaché Camile Wray; the series ran from October 2009 to May 2011. Wen made an appearance in "Disney Through the Decades", a short documentary about the history of the Walt Disney Company through to the present, as the hostess of the 1990s section. It can be found on the Diamond Edition release of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. In August - September 2011, she appeared on the SciFy Channel series "Eureka", as the inquisitive U.S. Senator Wen.  In the fall 2013, she will star in Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., alongside Clark Gregg, who is married to Jennifer Grey. She began her career as Lien Hughes #1 in As The World Turns in 1988. Phineas & Ferb is her DTVA debut and only appearance. Agents of SHIELD as Melinda May is her most recent credit. She has 60 acting credits and 34 Self credits to her resume. So Candace and Stacey open the door and come in as Candace acts like a snob which is a really bad idea in my view; but this is Candace we are talking about. Candace asks about if there is anything she would like to do for Doctor Hirano which causes Linda to say that she thinks it has something to do with busting her brothers. Then a cow moos and Candace claims that this is childish instead of saying that this different; which is true in this case. Stacey does the hard sell of her being level-headed and responsible. So being grounded is no longer a requirement I see. Stacey brings up the brothers again and she stammers like an idiot. Candace talks about reckless stuff and Stacey elbows her in the arm which she sells; and blows of Stacey for being childish while selling the arm. So we head back outside the door of the private room as the door opens to reveal Doofensmirtz placing the fog machine on the floor and closing the door behind it.

So the fog machine turns on and apparently; this is an extra strength and extra distance fog machine because it not only engulf the entire inn in fog; it also fogs up the entire Tri-State area; most so the backyard where Phineas & company are having their rodeo. Baljeet wants Phineas to call off the rodeo; but Phineas no sells because he wants a foggy robot rodeo. This would be hilarious...if we could see what is going on; although it's killing the perm of Isabella's hair. Buford is doing something; no one cares, let's go back to Stacey doing the hard sell on Candace as she looks jittery and insecure. Yeah; she is SOOOOOO mature. NOT! Candace finally gives up and yells that Phineas & Ferb are building a rodeo in the backyard with robot bulls and this is all dangerous. Is anyone really surprised this happened; considering that it was Stacey who basically sent Candace right into the rodeo arena beforehand. On the other hand; there is a big fogbank; so Candace does have a point in busting them this time as she drags off Linda towards the room. Hirano wants to see this as the door opens and there is fog in Dnaville. Candace doesn't care and everyone runs out into the fog. So we head back to Doofensmirtz's private room as he is creating his inator and then hears the crowd cheering which surprises him. So he goes out and opens the door. Then the fog gets blown away as a big ass electric fan is shown created by Rodney called the Clear Fog-inator which the judge states is enough to put Rodney into the lead. Doofensmirtz blows it off as just an electric fan and easy to beat. However; Doofensmirtz needs more time and then he notices the Inhospitiable Unit where all the secret agents are held and has a Krackpotkin Plan. You don't suppose he's planning to release the agents to buy time now isn't he? That would be really dumb right? Speaking of focus dumb; Stacey, Linda, Hirano and Candace continue to walk in the fog as Candace licks her finger and tests the air. Candace knows where the backyard is because it smells like motor oil and compentence. So you finally admit it Candace; that Phineas & Ferb are brilliant creators who you are jealous of.

So we head to the rodeo as Buford's bucking bull is out of control as Buford has no idea what it is and then we zoom in to one of the brown haired male kids holding a red balloon on a string. Wait; so Phineas & Ferb built a robot bull that had the same features as a ficitional bull who sees red and gets excited; only this one isn't color blind? I take it back; P&F aren't so compentent. So Doofen practices the fine art of not being seen and throws a scroll paper right into the cell. It bonks off Perry's head and Perry grabs it. It is blueprints to get out; which involves doing the human chain ladder spot and then throw them over the wall and then climb down and squash the frog agent. To Kermit: The humans are not judging you based on the color of your skin; they are judging you because you are a talking animal. They aren't racist; they are animalist and at least frogists. The scientists panic as Perrry has officially made the entire cast of Bubba's Big Brainstorm look like complete morons. So everyone kicks ass and destroys inators with impunity. Apparently; the one with the triangle beard is the resident foil for Cluck (aka Agent C) because his inator is destroyed by Agent C with the SLEDGEHAMMER OF PLOT. First kill reference of the episode too as Rodney begs for mercy claiming that his inator benefits mankind as Agent Meow comes in teasing it's destruction and then he walks off stage right. Yeah; whatever, commence the beatdown of scientists as every shot is shown on screen with no impact stars and at least two of the agents are punching and kicking scientists in the face again and again. So we continue with the rodeo as Buford notices the kid with the red balloon is causing the bulls to go nuts. Phineas asks the kid to let go of the balloon nicely; but the kid blows it off because it cost 50 cents. Yeah; what's 50 cents for three dozen kids getting killed by bulls huh? So the kids get in his face and demand he let go of the balloon and he does. The balloon floats away in plain view of the bulls. The bulls take off and they destroy the entire arena; taking it with them and clearing both the backyard and the fog.

Candace, Linda, Stacey and Hirano all run in and Candace notices the fog lifting and she stammers like she always does in every episode while Phineas greets her. Stacey thinks the Tiny Cowboy concert is a wash now; but Hirano decides to let her go to the concert anyway. Because you see; despite the fact that she wanted to bust the boy like a childish jealous teenager; she was unflightly and focused on her mission and thus that's enough to convince her that Stacey made the right choice. BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I think Hirano agreed to it because Candace's failed busting gave her peverse entertainment, since she seemed so interested in this one. So we head into the show room as Doofensmirtz wheels in his inator which looks like a milk shake shaker as Rodney taunts it as the Late-inator as that is the worst laugh I have ever heard from an evil mad scientist. He sounds exactly like that scientist from Animanics and even looks like an older version of him too. Doofensmirtz calls it the Eradicate-Rodney-Inator-Inator which we tease a lever; but Doofensmirtz brings out a remote control and pushes the button. A spring loaded boxing glove arm comes out and smashes the inator like Alexender the Grape. NYUK! NYUK! NYUK! Hey; Doofensmirtz won after all! Rodney calls this unfair and sobs like a little baby. HAHA! See; make the joke and then pay it off. He runs off as Doofensmirtz does some grade S taunting just to be a dick. So yeah; he won by default which Doofensmirtz calls his favorite way to win. I cannot argue with that overwhelming logic there Doofensmirtz. The judge proclaims that the championship belt was destroyed in the fight which we never saw happen actually; and down pops the conveniently placed red balloon as the judge grabs it and gives it to Doofensmirtz. Doofensmirtz is happy with it and call it Balloony 2. That made me laugh as then the mech bulls all stampede in and MURDER everyone inside as we head outside in front of the inn as the whole thing collapses and tumbles to the ground. We then zoom out from the destruction to the backyard; which means the inn was right next door. That makes no sense!

So Perry walks in and Phineas & Ferb notice him while sitting under the tree. We then pan over to Isabella as she has another acute case of Bed Head; or in this case, Fog Bull Bed Head! AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Isabella walks off stage right to wash her hair and in any other universe, this would be the end of the episode; but we have at least a minute left as we have another montage with the TEDDY RUXPIN SONG OF DOOM as it's Isabella dancing against an awesome special effects background with awesome music and lyric as Izzy's Got The Frizzies. HAHA! This is the best part of the episode bar none; sorry Doofensmirtz, you almost got it this time. Isabella ends the song claiming that the humidity is the cause as she springs her hair again and that ends the episode at 10:15 approx since the ED is the song played again. Okay; the song was great, but it means nothing because it was just there to pad the running time. It's a bad sign of the writing of this episode when you need to do that pointless song; no matter how good it is (and man; it was the best thing in the episode); just to make sure the running time is met. They couldn't add the scene where the championship belt was destroyed? Kids love smashing stuff; even wrestling title belt. Look how many kids loved it when Mr. Perfect destroyed the WWE championship belt with a sledgehammer? That was MONEY, MONEY, YEAH, YEAH! Otherwise; this episode was perfectly acceptable, it was just too short. *** 1/4 (65%).

THE REVIEW LINE

Okay; I felt bloated and rushed through this (which still took longer than it should have), and there was nothing really bad about either of these episodes. Cheer Up Candace was basically average as I will give points for Doofensmirtz pulling off the Double Darkwings act perfectly on Agent P. At least Doofensmirtz showed how to do it right without making everyone act like they have an IQ of less than eight. However; I basically called the finish a mile away and Phineas' Mingle Mixer ride was average and it looked like a souped up amusement ride; and the song was okay, but it wasn't all that memorable. Robot Rodeo was mostly the same average stuff; but it did have a great finish and one of the best pointless songs ever. In spite of that; the song was clearly there because they were a minute short on the running time, but it was a neat payoff to Isabella's hair. I wish they did a one minute ED; and used the thirty seconds to show the agents smashing the championship belt of the Inator because that would have gotten over. Candace was fine and everyone else was just there. I didn't care much about the robot rodeo and even the poop joke didn't catch nor offend me. It was just there not making any sense. Sadly; this was all overshadowed by Candace wrestling an alligator in the sewer and biting which was in another episode (and probably one when Candace tried to become a Fireside Girl or something). Overall; not much to say. Nothing bad; nothing memorable. So next weekend is the final four shorts of this set: Lotsa Latkes/Agent Doof and then What'd I Miss/Bowl-R-Drama to complete the shorts; and then it's the 44 minute Where's Perry special, plus the Phineas Take Two Segments. I should note that all six segments are completed and yes folks; Tom Bergeron does make an appearance in one of them. Stay tuned for that one. So....

Thumbs in the middle for both shorts and I'll see you all next time.
