Hey Duggee #2 Rant

Reviewed: 06/01/2025

Weagle? Isn't It Time For... DUGGEE~!

Well, my hunt for some perverse entertainment struck again thanks to Family Junior up here in Canada. I had considered revewing "The Fabulous Show with Fay and Fluffy", but the cross-dressing angle is just there and it's just a storytime segment show for the most part. It's a fun show, but it isn't qualified to be an Easter Sadism show. You need perserve, creative entertainment, where the creators just don't give an elf. That's when I saw our following subject from the UK, only this time it's a BBC show. This show is an awesome fun mess of an episode that intentionally is trying to get onto the trainwreck scale. Welcome to the Rant Shack, Hey Duggee! Just watching this show made me giggle in an amusing way because the characters and everyone making the show is fully committed to make this story stand out. Hey Duggee started out in 2014 as part of a Christmas special for the BBC and then was made into a show. The premise according to Wikipedia (DANGER! DANGER!):

The programme's characters are talking anthropomorphic animals, with Duggee communicating in woofs. The episodes are based around The Squirrel Club, an activity club for children that Duggee leads. The children – the club's Squirrels – take part in all kinds of activities, have adventures and earn badges for their accomplishments. Each episode shows the Squirrels completing an activity or adventure relating to a badge that they earn at the end of each episode. There is no set formula for every episode, with many referencing or parodying pop culture.

I disagree with the last sentence as there is a sort of set formula to the episodes, but they often would go off-script in certain ways. For example, there are always at least FIVE opening sequences in the series, each assigned depending on the Squirrel member. Like Peppa Pig, the endings are sometimes different, although more visual than audio this time around. The finishing sequences are mostly similar, but the middle is clearly like a Peppa Pig episode even with the structure of the stakes being exactly the same in all episodes: The Squirrels do stuff to earn badges. Then you have the narrator who is voiced by Alexander Armstrong, the voice of Captain Dog, who talks to Duggee, despite Duggee being a full on anthro dog with clothes on, doing human things, but talks literally like a real dog. It's Koi Fish from Fish Hooks all over again, and yes; everyone in the show somehow understands him. To be fair, at least it's not Molang where every character does the Duggee/Koi Fish speaking and you have zero way of understanding what the hell they are saying regardless of language. I've been wanting to review a bit of this show since it looks perversely entertaining to me and finding episodes on Family Junior is easy, but those episodes are more recent. I want to do the early episodes and finding them is another matter. It's not as easy as Peppa Pig, let me tell you. The episode titles speak for themselves, except for the pilot episode "Chop! Chop!" which I couldn't find even partial footage of it. Believe it or not, there were supposed to be SIX Squirrels in the group, but that got cut down. Also, the hippo Squirrel was originally supposed to be an anthro pig. I wonder who was responsible for rejecting that one?! Anyhow, this should be a fun ride. How do these episodes fare?! Let's rant on shall we..?!

All episodes are directed by Grant Orchard. Danny Stack wrote four of the eight episodes in this set. Grand Orchard wrote "The Funny Face Badge" and "The Bouncing Badge". Sam Morrison wrote "The Food Growing Badge" and James Henry wrote "The Paddling Pool Badge". I'm not going to do tributes here. The animation is done by Studio AKA.

Opening Moment #1: This opening features Betty at the table reading a red book about eggs and chickens. She barely ate the watermelon and nothing else in this scene. The title card features a badge containing treasure chest filled with treasure against a pink background with yellow and red trim. This is the first of four episodes written by Danny Stack in this set of reviews.

The Treasure Hunt Badge: Short opens in the clubhouse as the Squirrels are either on or at the sofa. Roly is playing model cars on top of the couch in a dangerous matter. Happy is playing a model airplane in front of the couch and the rest are reading various book sitting on the sofa. Betty is reading a different book instead of the red book from the opening which makes sense because she dropped the red book on the table after yelling "DUGGEE~!". The narrator asks what Duggee has planned for the Squirrels today. The Squirrels drop everything they do and run stage left. Roly rolls off the sofa and splats behind said sofa. He's fine. Cut to Duggee shining up a red rupee from The Legend of Zelda. The Squirrels run in for the meet and greet as Happy calls it "shiny", so he's a future Sony Nag. Sad! The rest of the kids are in awe of the reflection spot. Betty wonders where Duggee got it from and Duggee woofs while showing off his chest to reveal today's badge that the Squirrels are going to earn. Roly is being loud in JAQ'ing off I should note, he's sounding more and more like an on and off television commerical. The narrator explains it as hidden treasure as Roly looks to his left and right and doesn't see any, thus clueless in knowing the meaning of the word hidden. Betty as least gets it, but wonders where. The narrator says they are inside things and under things. Apparently, over things and "hidden in plain sight" do not count as hidden according to this narrator. Good to know. Anyhow, the Squirrels need to do some searching, and maybe some soul searching wouldn't be too bad, especially for Roly. Mostly his loud voice. The Squirrels are giddy and ask for permission to do on this teasure hunt, which is totally uneccessary since they have to earn the badge to end the episode anyway. Duggee woofs that they have his blessing, totally pointless as it is and the Squirrels are happy as Happy can be and bail stage right. Let the search commence! Betty is looking in the sofa, so she subscribes to the "the spouse is always the prime suspect in a murder case to include/exclude" theory. Okay, good to know. She finds a yellow button. If you're an artist, I can see why it might be treasure. The cushions fold up like an L, just to make Betty look like a loser, that was funny. Then she catches herself and is not happy. Also funny.

Norrie and Roly open a cookie jar on a set of drawers (NOT THOSE ONES~!) and Roly screams again just to annoy me. Well, cookies are like treasure for my tummy, so this makes sense. Sadly, out pop the Delta Frog who ribbits. Not a treasure. Happy and Tag look underneath the sofa. Happy finds a sock, which Tag blows off because it stinks. Nintendo should sue this show, it's awfully defametory against Earthbound's own Poo...Oh wait, it would have been thrown out for all the stinky references in Earthbound itself. Plus, it would be a magnet for other corporations to sue Nintendo for copyright and trademark infringement. Tag groans that they cannot find any...TREASURE~! Do stop this gimmick, Roly! Norrie's this close to tearing out Roly's voice box, I swear to PZ Meyers. This is enough for Duggee to have the rupee slip out of his hands and this rupee shatters on the ground like it as merely glass. That's one fake ruby there, I say Duggee's treasure is extremely sus. This reveals a scroll paper tied with a purple ribbon. Betty unwraps the scroll and it reveals a treasure map with a red X on the spot near a mountain. Apparently, there is a volcano containing a giant snake, a moat containing a lake monster and an ocean containing a whale spouting water from it's top. The map is in the same style as Duggee's drawing in "The Drawing Badge", so it's clear Duggee drew it, making the ruby even more fake than it already is. The Squirrels are giddy as the narrator says it all and then they bail stage right to hunt for treasure. Duggee just stands there and does not follow them. We head to the scene changer of a badge with a meadow side as the sun rises in the morning and the sun has Duggee's face. Hey, I would rather have that than the real baby's face in Teletubbies. We return with the Squirrels outside as Betty reads the map in order to get their bearings. Roly is shocked and appalled because Betty says to "avoid the monsters", all two of them and the whale is not a monster. Betty tells them to follow the path and they'll be fine. That does not help my nor their confidence any, especially Roly since his gimmick is like incitement at this point. By the way, The Squirrels follow the path as Duggee waves goodbye outside and just stands there.

If there are monsters on this path, shouldn't Duggee be following them since he's the supervisor?! Duggee doesn't have to do anything except make sure the monsters don't strike anyone. I get Dora The Explorer has done this all the time, but none of her monsters I can take seriously even if I tried. I don't know what these "monsters" can do at this point. We get the map following scene in which the map Squirrels are following the path properly until they reach the bushes as Betty claims that this lake is a tropical lake. Yeah sure, Betty; Britian is a tropical paradise. Not. Betty claims that there is a sea monster in the lake. Ummm Betty, it cannot be a sea monster since the lake is not the sea nor has sea water. Edmond Elephant would have laughed this out of the lake if he could hear it. We then see the lake and the "monster" jumps into the air with Windows victory sound effects in front of the sun. Pfft! It's Mr. Crabs, no relation to the crab Scrooge McDuck, Mr. Krabs in any way. The orange crab walks sideways demanding answers to this outrage. The outrage you ask: The Squirrels are making noises. ROLY~?! Betty thought Mr. Crabs was a sea monster, with a giggle that now tells me she's really laying the trolling on this sea monster thingie thick. Mr. Crab dances around in frustration as he is a monster when he lacks sleep as Tag asks where they go next. I'm sensing this whole episode is a parody of Dora The Explorer now. Even more direct than this show usually does actually. Mr. Crab says goodbye in French and reminds us that it's French. Ahh, that's who taught one of the Hippy Rabbits to speak French in "The Cake Badge". Then we have the next map scene where everyone turns right while Roly turns left and runs around a tree just to be Roly. Considering how loud he is, this is an improvement. Roly does return once the Squirrels stop at the volcano. Then the Squirrels all panic because this volcano contains a giant snake on the map. We see a far shot of a "volcano" and out pops an earthworm, because the "volcano" is just an anthill about six feet away from the Squirrels. I now see why Duggee isn't with them, these "monsters" are totally tame as hell. The Squirrels all giggle and bail stage right as Roly trolls on the worm and the worm is amused by being called a giant snake. Of course!

Map scene #3 as the Squirrels follow the path to the mountain containing the red X on the spot. Then Duggee shows up hiding behind a rock, which means he's here to give them the badge and the Squirrels won't have to walk back to the barn. I don't know why, we still have at least two minutes left in this episode before the badge spot. By the way, the mountain is a giant false rock with a stone button on it as the Squirrels are confused. Betty walks around as Roly looks like he peed himself. Betty goes to the left side of the giant rock and pushes the button as if she knew where this was going. The stone wall opens beside the X to reveal a cave. 2:1 odds this is a false cave and the real one is the door for the X. The narrator praises Betty and the Squirrels all giggle and go inside the cave and I'm proven wrong because it's filled with treasure as Roly does the echoing spot, one of the few instances where the loud gimmick did amuse me. Now the Squirrels have a decision to make, they can only take one treasure back to Duggee. The Squirrels ponder this over. Now, remember Scott Keith's review of a steel cage weapons match in WCW with Raven and Diamond Dallas Page: There were 80 million sharp objects and DDP used a bull rope. Guess what happens here: 80 million shiny objects and they choose a giant bone! To be fair, a giant bone makes sense with Duggee, but still; troll move! Considering that the ruby was made of glass, the Squirrels made a better choice here. That was funny! I betcha the coins are made of plastic gold, too. Wouldn't surprise me considering Peppa Pig was using the same gimmick at the time. The narrator is questioning this decision and I say "The treasure is fake! The bone is the only legit treasure in this cave! The glass ruby to find this map makes it painfully obvious that the treasure is fool's gold at best!" The Squirrels say "yes" and the narrator is all "That's all right then". It is the perfect treasure, because the bone is at least real in storyline. By the way, when the giant bone is taken out of the cave in the next sequence, Roly actually remembers to run with them since he didn't do that in "The Rescue Badge" with the ladder.

Betty is checking the map and the wind blows it away. So Nova Scotian of you, world. Then Duggee woofs and we discover that the entire journey was well within the barn's property limits, absolutely burying the map gimmick altogether. Ironically, the giant whale is legit in this world and close to the actual sea. We see two sheep, the Delta Chickens doing whatever, and the three boxed brown cows grazing as usual. That explains why Duggee didn't move, he would have seen them regardless of where they were. Even though the Squirrels could go straight towards Duggee, they ran back the exact same path they had with the map in reverse, just burying the map gimmick deeper into the earth. Danny Stack showed no mercy on Dora The Explorer here and it was great. Betty shows off the bone as the Squirrels run in and Duggee is wide eyed and probably licking his chops, to the most awkward angel heavens music I have ever heard. Everyone needs to watch this episode just for that alone. The narrator asks if Duggee loves his treasure and Duggee woofs yes, then gets the LIGHTBULB OF BLOODY CLARITY and bails on all fours stage left. He returns with the "Treasure Hunt Badge", the Squirrels are happy. On the far shot, the badge looks like a brown piece of wood in the middle. Here come the parents in their vehicles as it's time for the DUGGEE HUG~! Duggee hug. The kids giggle and bail stage left to show off the badges to their parents. Hugs in stereo ensue as the kids and parent leave in their vehicles. The narrator asks if this was fun, but Duggee's bloodlust for that bone ends that conversation. I think this is the first time bloodlust was done on a pre-school show and it was actually funny. The narrator questions Duggee and then laughs to end the episode at 6:48. Best episode of Series One so far for this show as Danny Stack was committed to burying Dora deep within the earth and the finish was glorious. **** 3/4 (95%). Grant Orchard voiced the earthworm and Adam Longworth voiced Mr. Crabs I should note.

Opening Moment #2: This opening features Roly making his eyes roll around while admiring a pinwheel outside. Basically the same opening as "The Hair Badge". The title card features a badge of a scarecrow who smiles as if it's a scoiopath. There are crows and a yellow background with orange and pink trim. This is the second of four episodes written by Danny Stack in this set of reviews.

The Scarecrow Badge: Short opens in the clubhouse as Betty is reading another book, Roly is playing with a banana, Happy is teasing playing with one, Tag has an apicrot and Norrie is playing with a toy stove that is so big that she needs to step on stacks of books to use it. It might be a real stove for all I know. The narrator asks what Duggee has planned for the Squirrels today and the Squirrels all giggle and bail stage left without incident. We cut to outside as Duggee has his farmer overalls with a white shirt and green boots on. Now there is someone who needs to jump up and down in muddy puddles. I want a Peppa Pig/Hey Duggee crossover once Series Nine is over. Hasbro/BBC, make this happen! Duggee is planting corn seed as the Squirrels run in asking what Duggee is doing. Okay, just Betty. Duggee woofs what I said and this is why non-verbal cues rule: It's because I can understand Duggee when he is performing actions even if the words he would say might not be one to one. Roly JAQs off on this one as the narrator mansplains to him why: Duggee plants seeds in order to make ears of corn, the very thing you drew in "The Drawing Badge" and then trolled on Duggee that it was a banana. The Squirrels are in awe of this because we got a demonstration of the growing corn within seconds, even though it would take weeks and months. Hey, cartoon logic is funny and fuzzy. Duggee plants more seeds and hums for a while. A crow comes in and pecks the ground as Roly screams "bird" in a volume that sounds closer to his "DUGGEE~!" cry. He also invokes the POINTY FINGER OF DEATH as he probably wants to eye poke that bird, judging by his face. The crow caws and flies away without further incident. Norrie calls Roly out for "bad behaviour", but Duggee is all right with this as the narrator states that scaring the bird is okay because birds are not supposed to eat the seeds, you see. While Roly makes the perfect scarecrow since he's loud and adult Kit doesn't work because he's too gentle, Roly cannot be at the barn 24/7, thus we need an easier way of scaring the birds. Duggee woofs and points to his overall jean pocket to reveal "The Scarecrow Badge" and the Squirrels are confused. The narrator demonstrates this as crows fly away from the happiest scarecrow ever made. I get that this was done to not scare away the real children in the audience, but the smart mark kids in the audience would have laughed this out of the building. No bird would be scared of that scarecrow in real life, come on now.

The Squirrels are in awe as Duggee woofs and there is a crow on his head. HAHA! Well, Kit Cloudkicker has company now. The Squirrels scream bird and the crow flies away scared. Norrie asks if the Squirrels can make a scarecrow and Duggee woofs yes. The Squirrels giggle and bail stage right, except for Roly, who has some bloodlust for scaring birds now. As cruel as this is; this is for the best: Roly has the loud gimmick and can scare the birds himself, so running interference while the other kids design the scarecrow is a really smart plan here. Norrie comes back to get Roly out of there, but the narrator agrees with me that this is a smart plan for Roly to run interference and the narrator decides to supervise Roly. I guess Duggee has to help the Squirrels on the scarecrow design, otherwise Duggee could supervise Roly. Roly screams and a crow flies off-screen cawing I should also note. Norrie relents and runs off in glee as Roly's voice is horase now, which is not a good sign for his gimmick. Jump cut to the barn as the Delta Chickens peck the ground outside, whatever. We head inside the barn as there is a lot of junk inside said barn, including an old wooden radio box that looks like Duggee doing a really creepy teeth smile. The kids ask what they can use to build the scarecrow and Duggee woofs "anything". The kids ask "anything" and Duggee woofs back while doing the fingers come together spot Kit Cloudkicker did in A Jolly Molly Christmas in TaleSpin and The Lost Cargo Of Kit Cloudkicker in Ducktales 2017! This is going to be a trainwreck, I just know it. The Squirrels run stage right and make a mess off-screen just to make Duggee cringe as a large tyre rolls out. Jump cut to zoom in shot of Roly looking for birds to eat...ERRRR....I mean, scare. Roly rolls around and then hides in the bushes, with his bloodlust promo being hoarse. A crow walks in whistling, and might as well be whistling past the graveyard. The crow motions with a seed to three other crows as they rush in and start pecking the ground. Roly apparently played Dig-Dug sometime in his life as he literally pops out of the ground, screams "birds" and the birds run away. I got to admit, this is the best thing Roly has done in this show and they should do this spot until the five and a half minute mark because this amuses me more than the Squirrels messing up Duggee's barn.

Then we play some old jazz music as we return to the barn with Betty coming out to inform us that this is the best scarecrow ever. She's lying of course. We all know Roly is the best scarecrow by default. The Delta Chickens know she's lying because they ignore her. Back to the corn field with Roly literally playing a tired out Rambo. The narrator is trying to get Roly to turn around because the birds are pecking from behind, but Roly will have none of it. Thankfully, Roly figures this out on his own and scares them away. The five crows land in a tree as Roly bounces around in a circle yelling birds over and over. Yup, this is the absolute peak of Roly's loud gimmick and it needs to retire after this episode is over. Chances are it won't. Then the birds have a whisper conference on the tree branch. The birds then calls out for Roly, Roly falls for the deception as he runs to the tree, and the crows bring out a rope with -- I cannot believe I'm typing this -- a giant white glazed sprinkled donut. I am not making this up! Sadly, Danny did this spot thirty seconds too early since the later time would have had even funnier impact. Roly is so shocked by this, he stares in shock as the birds snicker and fly down and continue pecking. Even though this spot was done too soon, I cried with laughter. Roly is awed by this food that even the narrator realizes the bird have outsmarted our resident loud mouth bird brain and we finally need the scarecrow. Then we cut to the barn as the doors open, steam comes out, and out comes this giant scarecrow robot complete with WWE-equse scary entrance music. They really put some use in that old technology now didn't they?! The crows are like "What the fuck is this?!" and stand their ground, that was funny. Then the robot scarecrow dances around to Duggee's theme music! The robot runs in and makes the save on Roly as the crows fly away stage left. Also funny. The crows were not scared of this robot until the robot danced to Duggee's theme music, one of the most wholesome musical themes on the planet. That theme music was Nightmare Fuel to those crows! I laughed and laughed and laughed some more. Even better, the Squirrels were literally inside the robot because the front chest of the robot opened to reveal a bridge for the Squirrels to exit as they were looking for Roly.

Duggee comes out, having to duck like every adult in Peppa Pig when going to playgroup. At least the robot was understandable here. The Squirrels asks Roly about the scarecrow and Roly doesn't give an elf because he wants that damn donut. The kids are happy that the crows now need therapy inside the tree. Even Roly's loud gimmick wasn't this cruel. Roly now feels bad for them and wants to make up for their cruelty. Duggee ponders this over as they show the crows, the robot and the bird seed. Duggee has a plan as he bails on all fours and returns as we get a zoom in shot of the crows in the tree. This leads to the stupidest right booking decision ever: The finish is that Duggee builds a bird house on a tree branch complete with corn seeds and bird seeds for the birds to eat. That is the right booking finish and good for Danny Stack. There is just one big problem: In order to make this work, the tree branch is at least TEN FEET LOWER than where the birds set up Roly with the giant donut. When we saw the tree with Roly, the tree branch was much closer to the leaves. Here, the tree branch has literally teleported to closer to the ground! SUZY SHEEP~?! Even the "It's magic!" girls would have been impressed by this trolling. The birds are happy as they enter the bird house which allows knitting, reading newspapers, a bird seed table and a bird bath outside. The bird bath is literally made from a model car tyre I should note. The narrator asks if the crows love it and they love it as the Squirrels are like "Aw, our hearts melted". The narrator asks if the Squirrels have done well and Duggee woofs yes. You know the drill already and one of the crows becomes the second Non-Squirrel to earn a badge, joining Naughty Monkey from "The Jam Badge". The bird sadly decides not to accept and flies away cawing. Here comes the parents as we do the DUGGEE HUG~! Duggee hug. The kids giggle and bail stage left to present the parents the badge. Hugs in stereo, the parents and kids leave as the narrators asks if this was fun. The crow lands on Duggee's head and we get the ultra delayed hearty laugh to end the episode at 6:48. This was not the best episode so far, but Roly was the MVP of this episode and the climax to the finish was also glorious and hilarious! It's time to retire the loud gimmick for Roly, he's not topping this episode. Trust me on that one, Squirrels. **** (80%).

Opening Moment #3: This opening features Happy swimming in his bathtub with soapy water and wearing a snorkel device. After Happy yells "DUGGEE~!", Happy runs out with soap covering his naughty bits. Duggee wears no pants, so what is the point of covering up Happy?! If you going to argue against kid's nudity, you might as well cover up the adults groins as well. You fools! Sure, Happy running with soap suds on his naughty parts is a neat funny visual and all, but for goodness sakes! Also, Happy wears pants when he goes outside, but no shirt which is Kit's prototype design! According to the "child groomers" (who are not the left by the way), that's even more taboo! Anyhow, the badge for the title card is Duggee's face looking like he's cooked with green trim. Change it to adult Kit Cloudkicker's face and it makes just as much sense. I should note that this episode is the only one in this set that I couldn't find a CBC Kids video, so CBC Kids is not airing these episodes in the proper order either.

The Funny Face Badge: Short opens outside as two spieces of birds fly in the sky near the sun having a lovely conversation and are as happy as well, Happy. Pan down to the forest with Duggee being the horse for the Squirrels to ride on. I admit even as a man, seeing adult Molly Cunningham riding on adult Kit Cloudkicker's back on all fours would be many buys! Norrie says it all as the Squirrel identify characters as we see them, including those gaslighting Hippy Rabbits, all six of them this week. Those entraping wabbits wave back, planning their next move to get carrot cake I bet. Then the Squirrels and Duggee stop because they don't know what a totem pole is. Ah, so they are somewhere in British Columba, which I can take more seriously as a tropical paradise than Great Britian. Okay, Betty knows what it is because she's the CLEVER CLOGS~ of this outfit. The narrator confirms Betty's promo and proclaims that some animal named Woo The Owl sits on the totem pole. The owl on top is Woo by the way, since it's blinking it's eyes. The Squirrel say hello to him, but the owl only sells by blinking and looking more dead serious than Donald Trump. Thankfully, the owl is a better being than anyone in the Republican party. However, Woo is clearly miserable for some reason as one of the birds fly around as the Squirrels notice this. Then a piece of the totem pole wood breaks for no reason. Apparently, Woo is a female owl according to Tag. Considering that the owl has not identified it's gender yet, Tag is risking being a bigot here. Norrie wants to cheep her up as Betty asks how. I could understand this if the misery is causing the destruction of the totem pole because art should be preserved, but it isn't, so it's just gaslighting on the Squirrel's part. I wonder if the totem pole was why CBC Kids hasn't released this episode yet on their channel. I'm pondering this one over while the Squirrels are pondering how to cheer up this owl. Speaking of a possible bigot, Tag suggest Duggee do some juggling as Duggee has three balls (NOT THOSE ONES!). Duggee juggles for a while with the most weirdest carnival-equse music I have ever heard. This would have been funnier if the Squirrels were playing the music themselves with actual instruments, but it didn't happen sadly. Woo no sells everything. I guess Woo is angry about what Ric Flair has become. The Squirrels sell the juggling with their eyes of course, they are more into this than I am, so more power to them. Duggee finishes his juggling with a woof-woof and a triple catch of doom. Woo no sells it all, as usual. The Squirrels clap and giggle to try to hard sell this, but to no avail. Woo don't care and huffs at the notion of being happy. Speaking of happiness, Happy decides to do some beat boxing, which is slang for providing the background music for a rap. Please let Duggee rap, I dare him too. Sadly, Duggee just dances. I was so disappointed because him rapping in woofs would have been hilarious.

Woo no sells as usual and Happy sighs. Another note: I wonder if Happy's original name was going to be Gay, which has been used as an actual last name in real life at the very least. Considering that the word "gay" is a old slang term for "happy", this makes sense. I get the word now means "homosexual", but at least the LGBT community was smart enough to use a word that is connected with actual human emotions, since the point was to be accepted as human beings. Betty is pondering over this inability to make Woo crack in laughter. I assure you that Betty's bee noises will not make her laugh, but lose more of her creditibility in the critical thinking community. The fact that the other kids are giggling at her makes it obvious that Betty is making an ass out of herself. Then we discover that the Squirrels are laughing at her because she can make funny faces, which confuses Betty. Tag likes this idea as Duggee does a funny face and makes the Squirrels laugh. He then points to his chest to show off his Funny Face badge nearly three minutes in, in a six and three quarter minute show. The narrator nearly stumbled on his lines because the kids are giggling at the funny face Duggee made still. Norrie asks for Duggee's assistance on this funny face thingie and Duggee woofs yes with such glee. We get the badge scene changer of doom with Duggee being a literal park ranger and saluting to the hard camera. That was funny. We resume as Duggee in his park ranger gear decides he's going to channel Sgt. Slaughter, only I can believe Duggee was in the marine corp at one point in his life and was honorably discharged. The Squirrels are wearing hats for no reason. This would have been funnier, if they were pope hats. Everyone is marching like the wind...an westernly wind this time. They are doing the "Sound Off!" march, which is much funnier when Duggee does it, not so much for the Squirrels since they are no Peppa Pig when it comes to fumbling the lines. They end with a jump into the air and stay there. SUZY SHEEP~?! We head into the clubhouse for funny faces basic training as Duggee has a stick as a riding crop. Duggee is both the best and worst drill instructor of all time. Best because he's the least toxic, worst because he's the least toxic. The Squirrels are doing raspberries, cheek inflation and crack smiles to waste time and amuse me. The narrator asks if they are ready and Duggee woofs "yes". Everyone on screen hops stage left chanting "hop" over and over again. The Squirrels arrive at the totem pole as Woo is still miserable. Norrie asks if Woo is ready to crack and Woo no sells it. Norrie counts to three and then it's the FUNNY FACE ASSAULT BRIDAGE~! Norrie is the dirt worst at this I should note, Betty is still the best.

By the way, I have gone over four and half minutes without Roly doing his loud gimmick! Woo no sells the deal and the Squirrels all groan. You cannot force Woo to be happy, all you done was make Woo even more miserable. Why not just ask why Woo is so sad first?! Maybe you'll understand why she's sad. This is the major problem with this episode, and it really shows here. Then the totem pole splits completely and Woo takes about a dozen bad bumps, at least a half dozen on it's head and falls onto the ground. Woo needs to be in concussion protocol, STAT! Now the babyfaces realize why Woo is so sad, the totem pole was on it's last legs. Norrie has a plan, which is simply to make a new totem pole. We HIT THE MONTAGE at the clubhouse as Duggee is inside literally carving out a new totem pole from a giant tree log with hammer and chisel. The kids are painting the totem pole I should note, except for Roly who does absolutely nothing. Remember that for the next scene. Jump cut back to Woo being miserable as Norrie and the rest of the babyfaces arrive. Norrie proclaims that she has something to show Woo. Duggee has the totem pole under a giant stylized cloth as Duggee pulls the cloth off to reveal a totem pole containing funny faces of Duggee and the Squirrels. The funniest thing about this is: Roly did absolutely nothing and yet he got the top, while Duggee, who did 90% of the work is on bottom. Just complete self-own on Duggee's part. Even better, this is also a self-own on Roly because Woo is finally happy and bounces onto the top of the totem pole, basically taking a symbolic dump on Roly's head. HAHA! That'll teach Roly to be lazier than Pedro F'N Pony. Oh, and Roly finally yells at the 5:40 mark and it not nearly as loud as he usually is. Yup, he sounds less like a TV commerical, at least in this episode. The narrator wraps this up as Woo is wooing in happiness as the kids all giggle. The narrator asks if the Squirrels did well and that means, it's bail time for Duggee. Duggee returns and gives the Squirrels their badges. The parents arrive and that means it's time for the DUGGEE HUG~! Duggee hug, right in front of Woo no less. Kids giggle and bail stage left to present their badges. Hugs in stereo ensue from the parents and then the kids and parent leave in their vehicles. The narrator asks if this was fun, and Dougee woofs "yes". Then Woo just plops on Duggee's head and woos to prove that it was her name to begin with. Duggee laughs to end the episode at 6:45. I discover that the name of the owl is "Whooooo", which would have been fine if the owl was saying "Who" instead of "Wooooo" since the "h" would be silent. This was a fine episode with some funny moments and not much else. *** (60%).

Opening Moment #4: This opening features Tag in his house playing a remote controlled robot Duggee! I hope this is real merch and not just a storyline angle because that would be hilarious. I have to Google this. Well, it's not exactly merch but this is awfully close to what I was looking for. After Tag yells "DUGGEE~!" and runs out placing the remote control device gently on the floor, the Duggee Robot of doom twists it's head. The title card features a badge with a basketball shaped like Duggee's head and ears against a pink background with blue and gold trim. That ball looks like something you see out of a puzzle video game.

The Bouncing Badge: Short opens in the clubhouse as the Squirrels are either building towers of blocks or putting blocks inside the CHEST OF DEMONS. The narrator greets the Squirrels and asks what does Duggee has planned for today. The kids all drop with they are doing and bail stage left. They run out of the barn literally with glee as we see Duggee inflating a bouncy castle. I knew this even before I showed it because that is what Peppa Pig has done to me. Everytime I see someone in a British pre-school show inflate something outside, I know it's a bouncy castle. Roly asks what the hell is Duggee doing and Duggee refuses to comment because it's a surprise for...Tag. Now Betty demands answers to this outrage. Then we discover that it's Tag's birthday and Tag delivers this line like he doesn't like birthdays. It took this show eleven episodes to do their first birthday, compared to 21 episodes before the first birthday for Peppa Pig. Keep in mind, the number of episodes per series is the same, and the time duration is only two minutes more on Hey, Duggee. That was awfully quick of them. The kids are shocked and giggling as they run west to be with Duggee. Tag is not thrilled about this as Duggee literally makes confetti out of nowhere as the Squirrels are chanting "Happy Birthday" to Tag. Tag is blushing with embarrassment, but thanks them anyway. Betty asks about the surprise and Roly is back to his loud gimmick screaming in response. I'm not surprised that they are not retiring this gimmick. Duggee woofs and then does the slow build to pumping air and showing a bouncy castle to kill time, at least in my view. If you're someone who didn't watch Peppa Pig religiously, this is a great build to the bouncy castle introduction in this show, but otherwise, you know it's coming 2.5 kms away. Tag asks for time and Duggee is sweating and blushing because he's Daddy Pig now, only somehow funnier. Then the Squirrels channel Jay Leno's queen chant on Duggee and he obeys. Somehow it's funnier when the Squirrels do it than when Jay did that spot. Mostly because Duggee obeyed the command like a total tool. The Squirrels do not care about Duggee's well being and then Duggee does the spot literally with his ass. Then the Squirrels leave him stage right walking without a care.

I howled with laughter, they made Duggee look like the GEEK OF THE WEEK~! Duggee is literally a dog playing the inflater button like a dog just to complete the burial by the Squirrels. Yup, this show is officially better than Peppa Pig, but not quite to the level Bluey is though. Thankfully for Duggee, the bouncy castle is fully inflated and we can move on. Now the Squirrels bounce back to be awed by it. You cheeky little naughty kids. I love it. Norrie loves it Roly loves it not knowing what it is, so he is clearly not a Peppa Pig fan. The narrator explains to Roly and Tag what the bouncy castle and Duggee shows off his Bouncing Badge on his chest. The narrator suggest to Duggee to show off his bouncing skills and Duggee agrees with him in woofs. Jump cut to the Squirrels watching Duggee bounce off-screen. I'm shocked there is no styled scene changer in between scenes here, I was expecting one since there is a lot of time to kill here. Then we see Duggee bouncing in the boucy castle with glee as the kids giggle. The narrator proclaims that there are many ways to bounce in a bouncy castle. 90% of them might kill you and the other 10% might hurt you if you become careless. Apparently, you can do stunts like the bird, the starfish, the Samus Aran ball (Okay, the narrator just says "the ball" for copyright reasons, but the form is the same), the jellyfish and the sleeper (NOT THAT ONE! Wrestling nor the Japanese name for Sleep in Final Fantasy lore. By the way, I dare a wrestling promotion to have an actual wrestling event using the bouncy castle as the wrestling ring. Hey, we have a Russian promotion do deathmatches in a literal sandpit, so why not a bouncy castle?!). The Squirrels then troll Duggee as they yell "Hedgehog" even though Duggee and the narrator didn't do that and doesn't know it anyway. Wait a second?! I think they yelled "hedgehog" because there is a hedgehog walking in to pop the bouncy castle. What a heel Sonic is?! Oh wait, that's a regular brown hedgehog. Betty points out that Hedgely The Hedghog is doing a run in, like a perfect monster heel to ruin the babyfaces fun. Everyone panic on cue and the Squirrels do a better job selling this than Duggee does. Duggee runs in, grabs Hedgely, turns him around and Hedgely walks in the opposite direction while the narrator says it all. Hedgely is just blowing this whole thing off like an assholish heel. That was funny.

The Squirrels are asked if they can perform like Duggee and the Squirrels run in while giggling. In comes the smallest storm cloud you ever saw. I'm guessing it is doing rehersals and auditions for Peppa Pig when it's needed for whenever Granny Sheep is having an artist event outside. Oh come on, now! Having it rain in a middle of an event in Peppa Pig is Granny Sheep's gimmick now! Except for that one episode of Peppa Pig Tales, but still. I love the subtitles CBC Kids wrote as the "Cloud Bubbles". That was funny. The Squirrels know that they cannot bounce if the rain happens since they will slip and slide. Norrie has a plan and here's her plan: Tell the rain cloud to move over a bit. The narrator thinks this is a good idea and even Duggee thinks this will work. I'm mocking this. You will not guess what happens next?! The Squirrels ask the cloud to move and the cloud doesn't sell it! Tag thinks the cloud is sleeping. I'm laughing after this. The kids not knowing this, that's fine since they don't know any better. Duggee and the narrator are grown ass men who should know better and they don't. Made the adults look like total geeks. Next plan from the kids is to wake up the cloud and they literally yell at the cloud and the cloud bubbles, but doesn't sell. Grandpa Simpson is laughing all the way to the bank on that one. Happy thinks it's having a bad dream as I laugh some more. Roly's idea is to poke the cloud. Stupid, but actually believable as a plan. Roly just hosed Betty and Norrie in the plan department. Okay, then the plan suddenly get stupider: Happy asks what to poke it with and Duggee, the grown adult in this show suggest Hedgely the Hedgehog. This is a really stupid plan, as in Darkwing Duck-equse REALLY STUPID plan! If you cannot figure out why this is stupid, then I cannot help you and you need therapy. Hedgely is loving this of course as we finally get the badge scene changer of doom with literally a minute to go before the badge earning scene. This one features Duggee with a lit light bulb above his head, just to make him look even worse. Can you not bury Duggee any further into the earth, show?! I'm going to predict the finish right now: Hedgely pokes the cloud by being thrown into said cloud, the cloud is going to sell it by moving on it's own, Hedgely lands in the bouncy castle and the bouncy castle is popped by it's own needles.

Guess what happens: Duggee keeps Hedgely in his paws the entire time as the Squirrels bounce onto the bouncy castle (with the kids chanting for the cloud to wake up) and Hedgely pokes the cloud on cue and the cloud dies without further incident. Yup, I was totally wrong and the finish worked actually. The dead cloud also makes a rainbow, so the cloud was a total bigot. I have zero sympathy and empathy for this evil cloud. Wait, no dark blue?! SUZY SHEEP~?! The Squirrels bounce afterwards to celebrate the rainbow. Duggee bounces up and somehow does the entire badge earning sequence right in the bouncy castle. That was really neat and cool! Where's Hedgely?! SUZY SHEEP~?! Although with the bouncy castle around, being written out by teleport is for the best. Here come the parents from the west in their vehicles and I was so disappointed that they didn't do the DUGGEE HUG~ in the bouncy castle. I don't care if it's seen as dangerous because it's a bouncy castle. There is always a risk of injury regardless of what you do anyway. Duggee hug and the Squirrels bail stage left to present the parents with their badge. Hugs in stereo from the parents and they dri... Oh wait, there is one more thing: Tag's Mother not only makes her official debut, she speaks for the first time. She presents Tag with the birthday cake with candles on top and offers the Squirrels a slice. Tag is happy to see this and we get a full picture of all the characters that have debuted so far eating cake, including the brown rectangle cow. Well, except for the Hippy Rabbits and Naughty Monkey since they were very naughty. Even the parents have cake as it's their official debuts, albeit they don't really speak since the "hmmm" sound was basically an ADR voice sound. Hedgely is now bouncing on the bouncy castle and it doesn't pop, so all the worries about him being a heel made everyone look like fools. The kids and parents leave stage left in their vehicles as the narrator asks if this was fun and Hedgely finally turns heel for real and pops the bouncy castle off-screen. He lands on his feet next to Duggee all happy like the naughty heel that he is and everyone laughs to end the episode at 6:45. This episode ruled hedgehogs and seeing Duggee make an ass out of himself was glorious. **** 1/4 (85%). Adam Longsworth voiced Hedgely and Tag's Mother in this episode and the "Hey, Duggee!" chant by the kids is absent at the end credits. That was odd.

Opening Moment #5: This opening features Betty drawing various science and art stuff, meaning in storyline she is a clever clogs and a teacher as she is teaching her plush toys. Nice flip of the pink chalk by Betty when she yells "DUGGEE~!" and runs out. The title card feature a badge shaped and colored like a green leaf. The trim is a dark green compared to the light green inside. This is Danny Stack's third of four episodes in this set of reviews.

The Leaf Badge: Short opens at the clubhouse as Betty is reading a lime green covered book, Roly is playing a top, Tag is playing with the model parking lot garage, Happy is playing with blocks and Norrie is using a toy typewriter. The narrator wonders what Duggee has planned for the Squirrels today and the kids all giggle, drop what they are doing and run stage left. Jump cut to Duggee wiping down a picture of his collection of leaves as he has collected five out of six possible leaves he needs to complete his collection. He's at least wearing a baseball cap that is small enough to wear and not go over his eyes. Betty is sounding more like Isabella from Phineas & Ferb as Duggee shows off his 5/6's leaf collection. There is a four leaf clover, a heart leaf among others as Duggee shows off his baseball cap since the top has the Leaf Badge on it, because Duggee loves leaves according to the narrator. Does that mean he loves lettuce a lot, since lettuce is a leafy root vegetable. There's also a yellow feather like leaf that might send Michael Eisner out of the Phantom Zone, a blue star leaf with three yellow dots and normal leaves. Norrie notices the empty space and Duggee sighs because it's the only leaf he cannot find, despite having a book showing the leaf which is a rainbow leaf. Maybe the bigots burned all the rainbow leaf trees down, I cannot imagine Suzy Sheep stooping to this low. By the way, the narrator calls it a rainbow leaf, so I wasn't alone in assuming that it was called that. Everyone gasps at the "very hard to find" part. The Squirrels offer to help and Duggee literally howls like a wolf in response. He's so happy. We get our next stylized badge scene changer of a brown leaf that turns around showing Duggee's face. Cartoon wink sound ensues to annoy me. At least when the Squirrels are using spring sound effects to run, you can argue that it's because they are wearing pogo stick shoes even if that doesn't make a lick of sense. Anyhow, Duggee and the Squirrels return outside searching for the rainbow leaf. The narrator tells everyone to keep his eyes peeled. Roly finds a bush, points like a pro wrestler and yells "rainbow leaf". I know he's bullshitting us because there's NO way that they could have found the rainbow leaf this early. I mean, we aren't even two minutes into this episode! Roly's being a troll here, there's no other explaination.

As I expected, Roly pulls the leaf and out comes I think a platypus and everyone is shocked and appalled by this as the platypus is pissed off at Roly, since the leaf is the top of the platypus' head. Roly apologizes and lets it go. The platypus is offended and walks back into the bushes while Roly admits that it's not the rainbow leaf. Norrie checks another bush and finds basically the feather yellow leaf from earlier and claims she found it, while Tag is gasping. She didn't find it, come on now! Now the Squirrels are just trolling Duggee for the sake of it. I mean, they saw the rainbow leaf in a book moments ago in this very episode! They know what it looks like! Listen, I enjoy kids trolling adults, but this is not as funny as The Drawing Badge was. Duggee takes it well though as he has to inform the kids that it's the wrong leaf. Duggee has his leaf book of doom and it shows it's a Tiger Leaf. Duggee wants the real Rainbow Leaf badge. I'm fine with this because an image of a leaf and the real thing are not even close to being the same. Unlike digital and retail copies where it's the same data on a slightly different storage space. Also, Duggee is not going to sell his leaves either. The Tiger Leaf is still acceptable as a replacement, so it goes in the book. Betty decides to continue the search and the kids all follow her stage left giggling, which means they are going to troll Duggee again. Got to make up for the failed attempt last time I see. Duggee is reading his leaf book, somehow the Tiger Leaf doesn't fall out of the book. SUZY SHEEP~?! Then a giant bouncing leaf enters the screen with spring sound effects. I know the Squirrels are hiding behind it; but it's much funnier if the Squirrels were not behind this. This leaf is much bigger than Duggee, it could be used as a blanket at this point. Duggee is shocked, but the kids giggling gives away the entire thing. The kids asks if this is the leaf, Duggee says no, it's a palm leaf. The largest the narrator has ever seen, which means he needs to get out a lot more. It's too big for the book. Duggee don't care because he folds up the leaf, and turns it into a regular leaf. Now that's magic, SUZY SHEEP~! The search has led nowhere, until the Rainbow Leaf flies out of nowhere by the wind. Happy is the first one to spot it since he is the first to point it out. Then we have the most oddest chase ever of the leaf, mostly due to the purposely ill-fitting music. They head into a dark forest as the bad Batman-equse music (in a good way though) and it stops. Now everyone is acting very tentative. Eyes are shown in the background hiding in the forest and "blah" noises ensue.

Okay, Roly being loud is funny here because Roly starts being excited and then he is scared about a possible monster. That did make me laugh. Duggee proclaims that he's not scared as I am daring the writers to produce a DogBear and have Duggee scared off like Kit Cloudkicker was scared off by a BearFly in Ducktales 2017. At least the beast in Ducktales 2017 looked scary enough that I could take Kit fleeing for his life seriously even if both of them are bears. Like I said before: If I stumbled in the forest and saw a cross between a lion and a bee, I would be terrified too! The narrator proclaims that there are no such things as monsters, which outs the narrator as a monster then! That's like saying that you cannot lie to yourself, which is illogical since you couldn't lie to others either by that logic, thus rendering the word lie meaningless. More noises ensue as Happy points to a giant branch sucking bush. That should be the new "eat sucking dog" heel line: "The good for nothing, branch sucking bush!". I can see the lewd consequences for that line 2.5 kms away actually. Sadly, it got outed as a pile of leaves by the narrator. I liked my description better, but BS&P RULEZ~! What can you do?! Then the pile of leaves reveals eyes and a mouth, while bleching. The Squirrels yells "monster" and panic. Considering who is in the pile of leaves, the Squirrels have a point. Anyone who pops a bouncy castle is certainly a monster. The best part of this is, the kids panic and then run away laughing and smiling. Even if they are scared, they stop selling when they run. That was funny. Even Duggee is confused, it's the wrong emotion in a real scare. Duggee is woofing for them to come back, I'm 100% sure that the kids running away was a total work even in Duggee's world. Then Duggee stops selling and runs away amused. Yup, they know who this monster is. People would point to that and say "That was fake!". Listen, Hey Duggee is a ficitional show in the real world, when I talk about it being fake, I'm talking about it in the context of Duggee's world, not the real world. The "chase" is on and I'm laughing my ass off because everything is stupid and fake, but it's so hilarious that it was worth it. This chase was funny, and then it ceased being funny when the Squirrels and Duggee exit the dark forest. Here's what happened: The Squirrels stop at the hill, Duggee then bumps into them and the kids roll down the hill. Duggee trips, makes a confused face and rolls down the hill with them. That was a really dangerous bump by Duggee. Luckly, the landing was fine, no one landed on their heads and Duggee farted when he lands on his ass. Yes, Duggee doesn't wear shoes either. Betty doesn't either, whatever.

Duggee and the kids all laugh, I didn't find it all that funny. Then the good for nothing branch sucking bush slides and then starts cutting a promo, it's clear that this is Hedgely's voice. Hedgely rolls down the hill, and the entire pile of leaves explodes into colorful leaves, many of them Duggee doesn't have on his wall yet. Norrie points out that Hedgely is not a monster. To be fair, Norrie was gone when the bouncy castle was popped, she's still wrong. It's BEFORE HAPPY HOUR (Sunset) as Hedgely apologizes for scarying them, which is funny because they didn't sell being scared for the most part. Betty asks how this all happened and Hedgely basically says he walked into the forest and got leaves piled on him. There's no way nature could have done this to him on it's own, so SUZY SHEEP~?! Anyhow, Hedgely turns around and stuck to Hedgely is the Rainbow Leaf, which I suspect was on him before being buried. I guess SUZY SHEEP~ was getting justice for the bouncy castle being popped. The Squirrels ask as they point and Duggee peels the leaf off Hedgely's spiky back. Duggee sits down and is marking out for this leaf. He is so happy. This leaf gets the sun treatment, star treatment and the most awkward sounding heavenly music ever. Please pick a better heavenly tune, show! I'm not suppose to laugh at this awesome moment and this heavenly music is making me laugh for the wrong reasons. All the kids proclaim that they found it and thank the monster bouncy castle popper Hedgely for finding it. Credit where credits due, I guess. Hedgely is humble sort of as the narrator proclaims that it's time to return to the barn as we see the Delta Chicken outside the barn pecking. Jump cut to inside showing a closeup shot of the picture from earlier as Duggee is putting the rainbow leaf in the empty portion and it's clear to me that Duggee is humming this tune because the heavenly music returns. If Duggee is humming this tune legit, that is hilarious at least. Otherwise, get a better tune, show! The narrator is impressed, the kids are in awe, Duggee is doing the ROB Smash Brothers clap. The narrator asks if the Squirrels did well and Duggee bails on all fours stage right. He returns with the Leaf Badge as the Squirrels all cheer. Here come the parents in their vehicles, which means it's time for the DUGGEE HUG~! Duggee hug. The kids bail stage left to present the parents with their badges, the kids and adults all hug. The Squirrels and adults leave stage left in their vehicles as the narrators asks if this was fun. Hedgely rolls in and says "yeah", and everyone laughs to end the episode at 6:45. This was a really fun episode with a dangerous bump, and hilariously bad selling of fear from the Squirrels. *** 1/2 (70%).

Opening Moment #6: This opening features Tag playing a model train with a conductor's hat inside his bedroom. There are quite a few six pointed stars on the wall as Tag runs out with a great hat flip. The title card features a badge with a striped candy cane bowl with a spoon and two eggs against a cyan blue background with orange/red trim. 2:1 odds that wooden spoon will never be used and is just a decoy for a whisk. This is Danny Stack's final episode of this set I should note.

The Omelette Badge: Short opens in the clubhouse with almost the exact same scene as "The Bouncing Badge" only Norrie is having a tea party with a plush white bear. The narrator asks what Duggee has planned for them today and the Squirrels all giggle and run stage left. Jump cut to Duggee at the stove holding a frying pan. The Squirrels all run in for the meet and greet as Betty is sounding more and more like Isabella by the day. Duggee is making a quick snack and Roly screeches "why". That is a better question than saying "what". Roly is growing on me more, maybe he's starting to be a better character now. Duggee's tummy growls to answer that question. Duggee blushes while holding his tummy and the narrator says it all. Norrie asks what is Duggee cooking and Duggee points to his chest to reveal the Omelette Badge. Betty asks if they can help and Duggee woofs "yes". The narrator then asks how they make omelettes and Happy says "eggs". Then Happy makes a critical error that changes the episode: Happy runs to the table to get the bowl of eggs. Then he runs stage left to get the bowl to Duggee. Did you notice the omission I made here? Yeah, Happy gave an empty bowl to Duggee because all the eggs bounced out of the bowl and get smashes and destroyed on the floor because Happy went way too fast and bounced too much. What a stupid idiot Happy is?! Also, this is the second episode were Happy screwed up and it involves cooking something, which the first one was "The Cake Badge", the only thumbs down episode I have ranted on so far. Mostly due to the Hippy Rabbits gaslighting everyone. I just love how Duggee is just smiling from ear to ear and it's the Squirrels scolding and gasping at Happy's lack of care for those eggs. Once the Squirrel yell "oh, no", Duggee is now appalled. Only when the Squirrels said that did Duggee stop smiling. Just made Duggee look like an absolute geek. That was funny. Happy is ashamed as Norrie proclaims that they will help tidy up. Which is Duggee doing all the work I should note. To be fair, the instruments and trash bin are all adult sized, so the kids would have been no help anyway. Happy still gets petted on the head, for breaking the eggs. He does not get petted on the head when he talks about chickens laying eggs. The kids cheer and run out of the kitchen. Duggee's tummy growls and it's much more animated than Daddy Pig's. This leads to the badge scene changer with Duggee literally hatching from an egg. HAHA!

We return outside to the chicken coop which is literally a white house with a red roof on top. Then Norrie asks where the Delta Chickens are. Ummm, why not check INSIDE the chicken coop?! That's the first thing I would search before asking. I realize that the Delta Chickens love the outdoors, but for goodness sakes. I would check the coop first after noticing that the Delta Chickens are not outside. Norrie chants "chick" over and over, while Roly screams chickens because the writers still think Roly doing this is funny. Yes, sometimes it's funny. The Scarecrow Badge wouldn't have gotten it's legendary status if it wasn't. This is not one of those times. Duggee is cringing, which should be a clue, but it isn't. Happy hears something and runs into the chicken coop. See, Happy at least has some sense here even if he's doing a home invaison. Then we see the Delta Chicken are literally watching television. Why not?! It's a bunch of animals who act like human beings. Why would the Delta Chickens be any different at this point?! They are watching a soap opera, it might as well be the anthro version of General Hospital. Anyhow, the rooster and hen are doing their overdramatics. By the way, the Red Cross symbol is clearly shown here and has not been censored! Not even recolored! Wow, this show has some absolute gall here since the Red Cross symbol is protected as IP so much even most copyright maximals would blush. Anyhow, the Delta Chickens are sitting down on the sofa drinking soda and eating popcorn. The right DC slurps too loud and gets punched on the side. How did they not hear Roly screaming?! I know Roly is a kid, but seriously. Then the one who punched the other eat popcorn louder than the slurping of drinks. Happy asks for eggs, and he's so polite, calm and quieter than anyone on this show. Delta Chicken points to the table where the nests are and Happy thanks them. Happy goes to the nests on the table, complete with green alarm clock and there is no eggs. Happy is confused and it's clear that this is a troll move because Delta Chicken could have shook it's head "no", and it wouldn't have mattered. Happy then blocks the television set and the Delta Chicken throw popcorn at Happy. Happy apologizes despite clearly being assaulted and walks away outside.

Happy informs everyone that there are zero eggs and Duggee has his sad face on. He knows he did those chickens dirty, if you know what I mean. The narrator is confused and everyone's confused. Happy being confused is silly since he saw why the DC's aren't laying eggs: They are watching television. Then we get a female voice and in comes a giant 50 foot bird with colorful feather, a giant boombox which is ten feet in itself, wearing roller skates and leg warmers. You have seen those legs in the opening sequence I should note. I would like to apologize to Hennie in advance: I called her an ostrich in the first episode I reviewed. That is wrong and shameful on my part, she is supposed to be a giant hen. Hence the name Hennie. The Squirrels welcome Hennie and call her by name, this this is officially Hennie's debut on this show. We exchange notes on the situation for a while. Hennie opens the roof and looks inside to make sure the kids are telling the truth. Hennie's gimmick is that she is an exercise freak who hates junk food. I can understand soda, but popcorn?! She's on my shit list now! Popcorn is not junk food, deal with it! Betty is confused, Happy is lusting for it. Hennie does some split legs for a while claiming that exercise will help them lay eggs. Personally, putting some respect on their names would be easier, but what do I know?! I'm no expert and I'm not going to pretend otherwise. Norrie asks how to get the chickens outside and Duggee ponders it over. We head back to the thrilling General Hospital episode on television as Antonio the rooster has turned on the hen and left. I know this because the hen is bawling her eyes out. Here's the plan: The Squirrels pull on the cord and yank the television set out of the coop. If this means we get a chase scene for the rest of the show, I'm fine with it. The problem is they have to make the omelette to earn the badge, so I suspect this chase will be very short. That being said, the Delta Chickens animation in chashing the television is comedy diamond, I won't lie. Then Antonio comes back and the rooster and the hen hug within second after that before Duggee turns the television off. SUZY SHEEP~?! Then we see the Squirrels wearing the most low rent exercise gear of all time. Roly is literally wearing underwear in this scene. Happy is literally wearing a belly shirt, which is taboo when little kids wear it I should note. The Delta Chickens are mocking this and even one of them does the backsplash laugh! The Delta Chickens have a point here, Squirrels. You are wearing the worst exercise gear ever. I cannot take anything you say seriously. Those clothes sucked! Hennie, the only one who has the fashion sense to dress for this turns on the boom box and tells the Delta Chickens to get into the groove. Hennie is funny, but this is not going to work.

Hennie starts dancing and Duggee is dressed like Richard Simmons, so at least he has the second best fashion sense in the room right now. By the way, that exercise music is AWESOME and I hope it's in the public domain because it doesn't deserve to be used and abused by corporations. The kids clothes suck, but their form is also awesome, so points for that. It does make Roly doing this in his underwear much funnier in hindsight. The dancing is great, but the Delta Chickens are like "Fuck this shit!" and no sell the entire thing. HAHA! However, the POWER OF MUSIC is overwhelming and the middle Delta Chicken shows weakness and dances, effectively giving up. HAHA! After one more shot of Duggee dancing, the rest of the Delta Chickens finally give up and dance, dance, dance to their doom. HEEHEEHEEHAHAHAHAHA! POW! OUCH! Ummmm.... By the way, as the chicken are laying eggs, they also use a shot to show off Hennie's leg, proof that the legs in the opening sequence was indeed Hennie's legs. The basket appears out of nowhere as the eggs are in the basket as the Delta Chickens are blushing and drinking bottled water. Betty thanks the chickens for the eggs, just to make her sound cruel. The chickens sweat and thank Hennie and Hennie welcomes them back. Duggee's tummy rumbles again, even more violently this time. Time to make the omelette as we head back to the barn and the Delta Chickens are pecking despite being fatigued in the previous scene. Logic break, or reused footage?! I'll let you decide. Jump cut to inside as the eggs are cracked into a bowl. As I predicted, no spoon was used, only a whisk. Damn, I'm so good. I predicted this about six minutes before it happened I should note. Second time they did this gag, and Happy was the troublemaker in both episodes. They cook the omelette, they eat the omelette "The Brady Bunch" stereo style. Norrie was going to be humble, but Roly cuts her off and calls it yummy. That was funny as everyone laughs. Happy is happy as Duggee remembers and bails on all fours stage right. He returns with the Omelette Badge as the kids all cheer. In comes the parents in their vehicles, this means DUGGEE HUG~! Duggee hug. The kids giggle and bail stage left to present the parents with the badges. The parents hug the kids and everyone except Duggee leaves stage left in said vehicles. The narrator asks if this was fun and Duggee is confused because the Delta Chickens are rollerskating in after stealing the boombox. The narrator and Duggee laugh to end the episode at 6:45. The exercise music on the boombox continues through the end credits. Despite Antonio being named as in the episode, it's listed as Actor Chicken in the credits. Great debut for Hennie and the Delta Chickens are such losers after this one. Otherwise, I loved this episode. **** (80%).

Opening Moment #7: This opening features Happy swimming in his bathtub with soapy water and wearing a snorkel device as per the "Funny Face Badge". The badge design in the title card is a flower with a tomato (vegetable or fruit depending on the point of view as mentioned in Peppa Pig with Edmond Elephant), watermelon, pumpkin and cucumber against a yellow background with green trim circle and a yellow tail which makes it look legit like a ribbon from the county fair!

The Food Growing Badge: Short opens in the clubhouse with the Squirrels literally playing Hide and Seek, with Betty as the seeker of course. The narrator asks Betty what they are doing and Betty shhs him since they are hiding and seeking. The narrator was asking the usual question as we see Roly and Happy hiding behind the big chair while Norrie and Tag were hiding in the toybox, with Tag wearing a star cowboy hat. The kids then stop their game and run stage left. The kids all giggle and run outside as we see Duggee in his farmer overalls and green boots watering the plants. Again, we need a Peppa Pig/Hey Duggee crossover, STAT! Norrie asks what Duggee is doing and Duggee woofs and shows off the soil. Duggee is growing his own food, you see. Including the dreaded onions, which the Squirrels are grossed out on, except for Roly who is like "they're not bad, come on now". Roly loves onions, and it's amazing that I agree with him on that one. Roly really loves onions so much, he eats them whole. Well, that grossed me out. Tag asks if the kids can help Duggee and Duggee woofs yes. The kids then show how dellusional they are as Tag wants to grow spaghetti and the narrator points out that this is impossible. Betty agrees with him because it grows on trees, you see. One day, they'll find out how to make pasta in general. They'll also find out that George trying a grow a dinosaur toy was just a troll move as well. Norrie asks what is there to grow and the narrator says it all. You can also grow wheat, which is an ingredient for spaghetti. Roly wants to grow onions and he says it with such glee that I was amused by it. Roly might be the slowest in character development, but he is growing on me slow and steady. Tag decides to channel Rebecca Rabbit and grow some carrots. Betty wants to grow a cucumber, Norrie is going big with a pumpkin and Happy is going small with a strawberry. I should note that the food in question is shown above their heads and then got erased when Norrie asks how to grow this food. Duggee shows off his chest, since he has his Food Growing Badge. Which shows all the food the Squirrels are making, except Roly's is supposed to be onions, not watermelons. Yeah, that's a bit of a logic break there, creators.

The kids all cheer and bounce as the stylized scene changer ensues. This one does sort of make up for the logic break with the badge being a giant onion with Duggee's face on it. I don't think this is going to scare Roly into growing watermelons there, Duggee. Duggee woofs and then we jump cut to Duggee with his mini shovel, yellow bucket and pink watering can. If you watched Peppa Pig in the early days, this scene should be obvious: Dig a hole, plant the seed, cover it up making sure the dirt on top is clearly shown for easy identification and then water the ground. Duggee does it and the Squirrels do it seconds after. Roly wants to eat, but Duggee has to point out that growing food takes as long as it takes, as Mr. Bull the idiot of culture would say. The narrator proclaims that the Squirrels need to protect the seeds and Tag thinks one of the predators is a tiger roaring at a carrot. Norrie thinks it's a green one-eyed alien riding a capsule similar to Dr. Wily's capsule as shown with the pumpkin. I knew Dr. Wily was an alien from...

Stacie: Don't say it!
Bradlie: Uranus!
Stacie: Real mature, B-Man!

The aliens use a tractor beam to veggienap a pumpkin. See what I did there?! Roly thinks dinosaurs really roam this world. Considering that Hennie is a 50-foot hen, I wouldn't put it past this show to show dinosaurs are real in the Hey Duggee world. Roly having a longneck dinosaur crying with four birds on it's back while we see basically a clone of George's Mr. Dinesaur near a volcano is funny. However, it's also a logic break since the onion has to be cut open in order to get said dinosaur to cry. Duggee finally cuts out the nonsense because it's more like green flies, slugs and sometimes blue birds according to the narrator. The kids simply look into the hard camera and go "oh", like a Peppa Pig character. Also funny. Betty asks if there is anything else to do and Duggee woofs. The narrator translates that some people believe that plants grow better if you talk to them. I'm 100% certain that this is junk science, but it's Duggee World, so it might work. I also fear for Roly's onion crying, knowing his loud gimmick. The kids are allowed to talk about anything as the kids cut promos on the plants for a while. Roly's offended that plants do not talk back, so he might grow into a spokeperson for "God". That's distressing. All the kids decide to leave stage left to do some seek and go hide. Happy stays though cutting a really kind promo that could only work in Duggee's world. Duggee looks at the hard camera smiling, knowing that Happy is a clueless dolt. This leads to the next scene changer with a yellow daisy like flower badge with Duggee's face on it as it winks. We return as Happy is still with his strawberry cutting promos. The Delta Chickens arrive for their contractual peaking spot, Duggee is watering flowers now in a nice continuity nod from the scene changer actually. In comes the rest of the Squirrels hiding behind the tree, so Tag is the seeker as he runs in. Tag finds them within seconds because he had to see them running behind the tree. There has to be a "Hide & Seek Badge" because these Squirrels suck at this game. Happy continues cutting promos while rolled up into a ball, as the Squirrels play on the tyre swing next to the tree. Yes, the tire is a real tyre; not a giant white glazed sprinkled donut attached to a rope like in The Scarecrow Badge. Doesn't stop Roly from watching it in awe and amusement. A blue bird arrives and Happy waves his arm to shoo it away, which the blue bird no sells. However, Happy continues the promo so the blue bird cannot peck the ground.

Strangely, it starts to rain without warning and out of nowhere since the Squirrels now have umbrellas bouncing in the garden jumping over their plants. Ironically, the one character whose gimmick is that he loves water, just sits there cutting his promo with his umbrella. Now THAT'S a SUZY SHEEP~ moment! I also see Granny Sheep has made a visit to this world, probably showing off her art to Chew Chew or something. Chew Chew the Panda, everyone and she's coming up soon. A slug tries to catch Happy off-guard from behind like the naughty heel that it is; but Happy grabs it, turns it around and the slug cannot stop itself and slide away. I howled with laughter in this scene. Not just the fact that Happy stopped a slug without looking, it's that Happy just don't care about water anymore compared to the Squirrels who are acting exactly as Happy would! Happy is committed to growing this strawberry by talking. This is what made this episode funny. Jump cut to inside the clubhouse as the Squirrels minus Happy are blowing bubbles through straws from glasses of water on a bright sunny day. Happy be like: "I can do this later". Later being a later opening sequence. Somehow, Happy is wearing a straw hat cutting his promo and shooting green flies in the process. Another SUZY SHEEP~ moment if I ever saw one. Duggee comes out off-screen and puts a glass of water with a straw on the ground. Duggee looks into the hard camera looking amused because he knows this talking thing is quackery. Duggee bails on all fours into the barn, knowing that you don't stop someone in the middle of making a mistake. Happy just continues his promo cutting for a long ass whomping time. Then sprouts pop up, with Happy having the smallest sprout since he's growing strawberries. Happy is so happy that he's yelling for Duggee while the opening theme song plays.

The Squirrels all run out with glee loving this, since Happy is not lying here. The Squirrels proclaim that they grew something and then suddenly, the ground rumbles and pops to reveal their food. SUZY SHEEP~?! Except for Happy's plant as it just doesn't do anything else. Happy don't care, he's smiling as if he slowly realizes that this talking thingie is a load of dogshit. Then he sighs realizing that this was quackery. Roly offers his onion and Happy has to whisper yell that he doesn't like onions. I don't know why he bothered, he was grossed out like everyone else outside of Roly earlier in the episode. Then the ground rumbles and out pops the world biggest strawberry in capitvity. Take that, pumpkin! Yes, the actual pumpkin; not the term of endearment in this case. Tag is in shock, Betty is in awe and Happy is hugging the strawberry like it's his future beloved. Yes, the talking really does work in this world. Of course! What a fool I am?! Duggee bails on all fours and then returns with the Food Growing Badge. The kids cheer and bounce as the parents arrive in their vehicles. Time for the DUGGEE HUG~! Duggee hug. The kids bail stage left giggling as they show off their badges to the parents while showing off their food. Roly's holding his onion like Link in Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link was great. The parents hug in stereo and then leave with the kids stage left as the food disappears. SUZY SHEEP~?! The narrator asks if this was fun and the one-eyed green alien in his spaceship shows up for real. Everyone laughs to end the episode at 6:45. A fun episode with some logic breaks and Happy being the opposite of his gimmick for a change. *** 1/2 (70%).

Opening Moment #8: Okay, this opening is a classic case of irony: Happy, whose gimmick is that he loves water is relaxing on a lawn chair with shades on enjoying the sun which is the exact opposite of water. I howled with laughter seeing this. Bonus points for the nose and mouth making a happy face. When Happy jumps out of the lawn chair, there is a spring sound effect in his one step. The title card features a paddling pool filled with water with a rubber duckie against a grass green background and the trim matches the colors of the paddling pool with extra white trim stiching. One final note: I'm glad that the opening title card says "Paddling Pool" because I keep calling it a "Puddling Pool" for no reason whatsoever. The Peppa Pig effect has that kind of effect on me.

The Paddling Pool Badge: Short opens in the clubhouse with the Squirrels on the couch fanning themselves because the room is hot, you see. Except Roly, who is not faning himself and taking it like an idiot. Even funnier, Happy is sweating and suffering despite being directly in the sun in the opening! I howled with laughter, the continuity in this show is so out of whack. The narrator is about to ask what Duggee has planned for the Squirrels today and then notices how quiet they are. The kids are hot and not in a good way, you see. Happy's portable air fan has run out of battery power and shuts off. The kids cannot move at all, which means Duggee has to make a run in with a tray of a pitcher of water with glasses of water to make the save and start the episode proper. The kids take their glasses of water after groaning about the heat and drink up. Tag is twirling the straw like a motor blade while drinking. Yes, the water is called "drinks". You can call it water, it's okay show. Roly is blowing bubbles and Happy is not using a straw, so it's anti-plastic straw it seems. Happy finally does his love for water gimmick by asking for more water and getting it from Duggee. At least this world isn't like Strawberry Shortcake's more modern world where the heat sets everything on fire. Duggee's face dinged on Happy's gimmick as the water overflows the glass. Duggee is clueless here until I realize that the ding sound is Duggee having an idea according to the narrator. Duggee then bails on all fours and the kids are in awe of this, while Happy don't care, he's relieved. Badge scene changer ensues showing Duggee wearing pink flowery clothes while green rimmed sunglasses magically get added out of nowhere. SUZY SHEEP~?! Sparkle sound effects and teeth smile ensue showing that Duggee knows that this was magic. We return as Duggee brings out the rubber rainbow paddling pool. He unrolls it as the narrator proclaims that Duggee has a plan to stay cool. Sadly, the Squirrels have stop selling the heat outright and Duggee has no sold the heat throughout this episode. SUZY SHEEP~?! I'm not surprised at all, this show's psychology is busted after "The Leaf Badge". Duggee's paddling pool has a pump on it, and you know this is going to be hilarious like the "The Bouncy Badge", and it doesn't disappoint me. Duggee pumps the paddling pool and it farts, it wheezes and the pump is now broken. That pump is not up to code on this show.

Betty and Happy are being overdramatic about this, mostly Happy because of his water gimmick and Betty because she's a squid. Roly calls the paddling pool a ball as he pounds the ground in disgust and JAQ offs. Then an elephant trunk shows up out of nowhere and pats Duggee on the head with sounds like it's trying to drive Duggee into the ground. We zoom out to see an elephant showing up. Hey, after seeing a 50-foot hen, a regular sized elephant seems boring to me. The elephant should be half the real elephant's size, maybe the size of the actual broken pump. The kids identify the elephant as Ethel and Ethel blows it's trunk. Ethel offers to blow up the paddling pool, showing the pump in it's trunk. Ethel pumps the trunk and the paddling pool is inflated within seconds. The kids are in awe and bounce stage left to get into their swimming costumes. Duggee and Ethel giggle in amusement. The Squirrel bounce in their swimming costume. Except for Betty, who is wearing a swimming cap. She's like the woman in The Wuzzles at this point. Norrie has green waterwings on, Tag has a striped beach ball, Roly has a yellow inner tube and Betty has a rubber duckie. Why?! Why not?! Happy has a snorkel and is the only one wearing a swimming body suit, with white and blue stripes as if he's going to prison. Or something. Duggee is putting out his hands and woofing "Stop!" as the kids jump into the pool, and the kids realize that the pool is empty. Happy does the ass landing splash. The kids wonder where the water is Duggee has his lawn sprinkler hose set to profits, but the revenue of water is zero, so no water except for a drop. Damn, those financial records for the next quarter are going to be hell, let me tell ya. Happy's not happy as Ethel offers to help. Ethel shows off a sailing boat and waves with the trunk which logically leads to the sea. Salt water is going to be hell on the eyes, let me tell yea. The badge scene changer has Duggee being the sun. Hey, it's less creepy than a literal baby's face being the sun in Teletubbies, let me tell ya. Thankfully, Ethel and everyone else runs in to a conveniently placed lake. Ethel sucks up the water as a toucan, giraffe and a zebra watch on. Two of those three spieces are anthros in Peppa Pig. Out comes the naughty mice in swimming costumes that make them look like cave mice, a warthog and a crocodile. Then more animals in the lake, with Naughty Monkey making an appearance in the trees, a snake, a hippo, two colored birds and a pink flamingo.

The continuity when Ethel is done sucking water out of the lake is shot as well, adding a square bull to the mix. Ethel is done, and the lake is still intact. The kids, Duggee, and Ethel bail with the stolen water and then all the animals follow behind them. I don't know why they bothered, it's not like the lake dried up or even change the amount. I think you can guess the ending of this episode without me saying it because otherwise this makes no sense. If Ethel had drained the lake completely, this makes sense. Third badge scene changer of the episode, it's the exact same one as the second badge scene change of the episode. We return to the paddling pool with Ethel, the kids and Duggee. Also, all the animals for no reason. Ethel lets go of the water through it's trunk and fills the paddling pool. Ethel blows it's trunk and that is that. Everyone is giddy to go in, but Duggee blows the whistle out of nowhere because he's the lifeguard and Dustin Starr is not available. Anyhow, he finally shows his badge four and a half minutes into this episode. The narrator says that you earn the badge by getting into the pool and being careful. Hey, an actual stake that requires the Squirrels to follow the rules. About damn time actually. Duggee blows the whistle, so yes, the narrator can understand Duggee in woofs and dog whistles. It shouldn't be funny, but that was funny. Since the paddling pool only fits five Squirrels, they are the only ones who get into the pool, thus giving away the ending well in advance. Ethel juggles a ball and then the creators completely kill the ending by having the paddling pool have TARDIS abilities as the Squirrels and the animals are all in the pool. Only Duggee and Ethel are outside the pool. You might as well drained the lake in the previous scene, that would have made this make sense. Duggee has a lifeguard chair that is at least twenty feet too low since Duggee could only see the giraffe's neck. Volleyball striking ensues as there is a boombox beat in the background as Duggee is blowing the whistle on Roly and Betty for running near the pool. The narrator points out the violations to the audience, of course. No bouncing off the crocodile's back either naughty mice. (Kit/Kick: That's it, I'm out of here.)

Then we get a really funny nod to continuity: Happy is scared of a pink flamingo eating a chocolate cake with cherry icing on top. Not only is this a violation of the rules, it's funny because if you recall: Happy ate a cake that didn't belong to him in "The Cake Badge" and the Hippy Rabbits gaslit him and Duggee to make carrot cake instead. Also, no diving as Naughty Monkey was going to dive off the giraffe's nose. Also, no splashing (Roly splashing in an inner tube), no pushing (ants pushing each other off a hippo) and no kissing (two birds kissing in tubes....) Wait, WHAT KIND OF BULLSHIT IS THIS?! Is this another show where the kids are grossed out by kissing?! Even the narrator is appalled by this rule. Then we get more relaxation as Betty is playing with the rubber duckie, the Delta Frog is relaxing in an inner tube...wait, so drinking is perfectly fine?! These rules are beginning to become extremely sus. Also, rowing a boat in the pool is fine. Apparently, the Delta Chicken habe immunity to the rules. Naughty Monkey and Happy are snorkeling for fun. Ethel is a water slide for the Squirrels now. Yes, the song has lyrics, but it's "Hot" over and over again. The music is better than the song of course. Everyone has popped up from the pool as the narrator asks if they are cooled of. Everyone says "yes", mostly the Squirrels. Everyone laughs as Duggee bails from his lifeguard chair and walks in with the "Paddling Pool Badge". The Squirrels are out of the pool wearing towels as they cheer and bounce. Here come the parents in their vehicles and it's time for the DUGGEE HUG~! Duggee hug. By the way, the Squirrels during the hug are wearing their normal gear out of nowhere. SUZY SHEEP~?! I mention this because Duggee keeps his swimming gear for no reason. The Squirrels present their badge and the adult hug the kids in stereo. The kids and adult leave in their vehicles as the narrators asks if this was fun. This time Duggee is relaxing in the paddling pool with a closeup of his face and then zooms out because all the animals will pop up behind him as I predicted about three minutes ago. Everyone laughs to end the episode at 6:45. Again, the animals in the paddling pool would have been better served if the lake was completely drained, since the paddling pool has TARDIS powers anyway. Otherwise, a fun episode marred with logic breaks. *** 1/2 (70%).

THE REVIEW LINE

Well, 16 episodes of Hey Duggee is in the books and it's a good show, albeit the really crazy stuff hasn't been in evidence at this point. The Scarecrow Badge was probably the best Roly episode of all time as Roly's commitment to the scaring birds gimmick was awesome and the fact that Roly got his comeupperance with the giant donut was hilarious. It was also helped a lot by the robot scarecrow, albeit not helped by logic breaks which is the story of this show sadly. The contuinity and psychology is way off in this show. The Leaf Badge was a prime example of this as the Squirrels are apparently scared and then run off laughing and smiling. This is not a normal emotion and it might confuse little kids. Sure, a lot of the errors made me laugh as an adult, but this is a pre-school show for little kids and having accurate psychology is important. This was also a problem in the Paddling Pool Badge as Happy's psychology was also inaccurate, but at least it was harmless. I also felt that draining the lake completely would have given the animals an incentive to be in the paddling pool during the climax and ending, but it didn't happen. Hennie had a great debut in The Omelette Badge and the exercise gimmick made the Delta Chickens look like total losers who were contracted to be in every episode pecking. Which is intentional. The Bouncing Badge was a really episode birthday episode for Tag where they manage to make the ending sequence with the kids and parent stand out with Tag's Mum debutting the birthday cake. Also, Hedgely is a perfect naughty heel for this show, where heels aren't suppose to exist. The Treasure Hunt Badge was the best episode of Series One so far. While the other thumbs up episodes were better on paper, The Treasure Hunt Badge was almost perfectly executed as Danny Stack made sure to bury Dora The Explorer deep within the earth with the map gimmick, and the ending was hilarious with Duggee getting the only treasure that makes sense: A giant bone. That episode is the sort of thing I expect from an awesome pre-school show. The Food Growing Badge talking gimmick works in Duggee's world, but in the real world, it is bad because it's quackery. Peppa Pig does this too, so it isn't just a Hey Duggee problem. Kudos to Happy making this funny and then having one of the best openings of this show so far, just for the irony of it. Get use to it, this show even has an opening sequence featuring a milk man of all anthros. The Funny Face Badge was the worst of the lot, mostly for the bad way they approached Whooooo's sadness, that was not good.

Overall, Hey Duggee is a really good shows with some issues, but is leaps and bounds ahead of Peppa Pig already and this show hasn't even gotten started in the craziness. This show knows how to make new ideas out of old premises and make them stand out. I cannot wait for this show's version of a marble run. Marble Runs on Peppa Pig are awesome, but Hey Duggee's tops them all. I'm hoping to do more episodes in the future, but CBC Kids barely has enough episodes to maybe do a third rant of this. We'll see. I'm still continuing Peppa Pig Tales, since I get a steady run of two episodes a week with that show and it's easy to find since it's on the official Youtube page. So...

Thumbs up for The Scarecrow Badge, The Bouncing Badge, The Omelette Badge and The Treasure Hunt Badge. Thumbs in the middle for the rest, and I'll see you all next time.
