Twenty Years Of Muddy Puddles: Peppa Pig Series Eight #4 Rant
Reviewed: 01/27/2025
More Games And Caravans That Make This Show Spooky!
Okay fans; I have now decided to rant on this series full time, because I do in fact like this show enough that I can handle the best and worst of the Pig family from Great Britian. Time to resume Peppa Pig as this is officially the eighth series in the last twenty years or so. YAY! Or maybe not! Only nine episodes on this set as we have a two part caravan adventure, followed by some racquet and sunny day games, magic tricks galore, jumping sticks, a spooky clubhouse, a broken Party Bus and finally it's Cousin Chole's birthday! YAY! How do these episodes fare? Let's rant on shall we..?!
All the episodes are done by Phil Hall with select episodes done by Matilda Tristam, Seyi Odusanya, Maris P., Ishai Ravid and Jen Upton. Seyi Odusanya debuted as a writer on Molly & Mack in 2018. Other credits besides Peppa Pig: Odo, JoJo & Gran Gran, Toad & Friends, My Friend Misty, Colourblocks, Milo, and the upcoming credit: Big Lizard. That's all. Ishai Ravid debuted as a writer for Adventures On Time Island with VIPO & Friends in 2014. Other credits besides Peppa Pig: Zack & Quack, Condorito: The Movie, 101 Dalmatian Street (DTVA Debut in 2020), Odo, Summer Memories, Pop Paper City, and the reboot of Totally Spies in 2024 as the most recent credit. That's all. Animation is done by Karrot animation.
Racquet Games: This episode is #402 on the animation paper and the episode opens at the tennis court on the hill and Mr. Labo is the supervisor of the courts, while wearing his ice cream uniform. In comes the car with Mummy Pig driving and Mummy Sheep being the front seat driver, while the kids were the back seat drivers. Suzy and Peppa hop out in their white tennis sports gear as the adults follow. The tennis official is Miss Rabbit with her tennis hat as we also see Mandy Mouse, Emily Elephant, Freddy Fox, Danny Dog and Pedro F'N Pony. We have the meet and greet as Mummy Pig and Mummy Sheep decide to pig out at the tennis court cafe. Somehow in the background, we see Mr. Stallion and Mrs. Corgi playing tennis which is the first time they don't appear when Grandpa Pig appears! How about that?! Corgi is really good, Stallion not so much and their grunting noises aren't very good either. There is a tennis court in the foreground as Stallion and Corgi cut tennis promos and Peppa has no clue what they are talking about. I got the backhand part, which is often low praise. Miss Rabbit isn't very helpful either as she allows the kids to take out color tennis balls from the conveniently placed basket. Danny Dog's tail is excited again as he wants to kick the ball like in soccer, which is not allowed in tennis. Neither is throwing the yellow ball (the default color of a tennis ball), sorry Mandy Mouse. Suzy Sheep has a purple ball and she finds the conveniently placed racquets in a basket, which is good continuity since in an earlier series, Suzy and Peppa did play tennis, sort of. The ball in that episode was much bigger than the tennis ball. I put 1:1 odds that Suzy and Peppa do not know how to strike this ball properly. Miss Rabbit hits the tennis ball with her racquet and it sails over the net with ease, just to show that she at least knows the rules and can hit it over the net.
All the kids take a racquet and have a go, none of them can even hit the ball. Pedro Pony is so clueless that the ball is already on the ground before he even attempts to take a swing. Peppa throws her racquet into the net while taking a vicious swing and miss. Peppa calls this impossible as the narrator calls it not easy, because the narrator is diplomatic, but Peppa sure isn't. Miss Rabbit's suggestion is to bounce the tennis ball before you take a swing, like they do in real tennis. Peppa tries that and it works. Everyone does the same and it works. Except for the plucky guy who can never win: Danny Dog. Yes, Danny Dog takes a swing and it goes high into the air. The funniest part of this is: It never comes down. We never see Danny Dog's red tennis ball ever again in this episode. SUZY SHEEP~?! Danny Dog tries to cover this up by claiming that it went into space. Yeah sure, Danny. Thankfully, there are more balls to use and we continue practicing as everyone now completely overkills it. Freddy Fox's ball lands in a bird's nest in a tree. The purple bird that lands in the tree isn't amused. Peppa Pig's overkill is hilariously awful that sping sounds can be heard. At least Danny and Freddy hit their balls well when they were overdoing it. Her ball somehow lands in the pond where Mrs. Duck is swimming. This of course is post-Golden Boots era, so her feathers are white instead of yellow. Suzy Sheep hits her ball perfectly and then we are at the tennis court cafe run by Mr. Labo, as Mummy Pig and Mummy Sheep are having tea under the umbrella tree. I was like "oh, no!" I know where this is going. It's the same spot Daddy Pig did with the bat and ball and the ball landed in Mummy Pig's cup. Betcha it lands in Mummy Sheep's tea cup. I check the video...Damn, I am so good. Sadly, no response from the adults on Suzy for that one.
The kids then realize that all the balls are gone from the basket. Well, mostly Pedro noticing as Freddy Fox proclaims that they can get more tennis balls since Daddy Fox sells them in packs of six. Miss Rabbit nicely tells him to sod off on his father's grifting. Miss Rabbit has plastic clear tubes that pick up tennis balls as Miss Rabbit demonstrates with the only tennis ball left. The kids grab the plastic tubes and the kids all pick up balls on the court and place them into the tennis ball basket. The kids all want to try again, but Miss Rabbit brings out the shuttlecock of doom! Yes, this is the debut of badmintion on this show and one Peppa Pig Tales episode had an episode that was beyond doubt, the strongest booking of Daddy Pig in the history of the show. I thought I was back in the 1950's, only Daddy Pig is much kinder and more dumber sadly. The kids ask if it's like tennis where you whack the ball, and Miss Rabbit says: Almost. The kids give it a go, and they almost got it for the most part. Sadly, Peppa didn't whack hers hard enough and it falls on the ground, but it's the thought that counts. The kids are loving it, and then in comes Mummy Sheep and Mummy Pig with the yellow tennis balls demanding answers to this outrage. I'll say the line Mummy Sheep: SUZY SHEEP~?! The adults exchange notes because badmintion is easier. Okay, let's bring in Mr. Stallion and Mrs. Corgi with trays containing bowls of strawberries and cream! Now that's one combination I love! Anyhow, they tease the Grandpa Pig ribbers not giving them the bowls of strawberries and cream because it's not tennis. However, Miss Rabbit points out that it's a racquet game, so it's allowed. Stallion and Corgi channel the narrator as everyone on the court is eating strawberries and cream, which the Family Circus would call "Strawbabies and Fream". Mrs. Corgi is loving this as is Mr. Stallion. Peppa proclaims that this is yummy as everyone else giggles to end the episode at 4:30. Probably one of the few times I have heard the characters channel the narrator's catchphrase! This was a fun episode. *** 1/2 (70%).
Sunny Day Games: This episode is #403 on the animation paper and the episode opens left of the white house on the hill in the garden with Grandpa Pig and Granny Pig sitting under the umbrella tree shooting the breeze in a TV-Y way. The puppet in the box music is being used as Peppa and George run down to meet and greet. The narrator says that it's a hot day, which leads to Peppa and George blushing, because they are having heat issues, you see. They might turned into steamed hams, if you know what I mean. I'll get my coat...Anyhow, Granny Pig brings out beckers and fills them with the conveniently placed pitcher of water. Peppa and George take the beakers and drink up as Peppa is so excited to be in a paddling pool since running around is no longer an option. George's tail is even more excited than Peppa, and George justs grins to reserve his energy. There is one problem: The grandparents have no paddling pool. The kids are not amused, but Granny Pig has a way. We head back into the house and into the kitchen. There is a giant cheese colored pot with a faucet attached to the back of the house outside. Please remember that for later. Granny Pig takes two plastic bottles from the recycling bin and rinses the insides using the sink, and then fills them up with water. These are water squeezers, which I betcha are the super soakers in real life. Granny Pig tells them to put their costumes on and then we jump cut to outside as Peppa and George are in their swimming costumes, and they need sun cream. And of course, Granny Pig aims for the face, George doesn't like it and I get annoyed...AGAIN! Thankfully, George and Peppa close their eyes so it doesn't get in the eyes, that would have sucked and George especially probably would have hated life. Granny informs them to give the bottles a little squeeze. Peppa and George both give them enough of a squeeze to shoot water into the air and causes then to have a makeshift shower.
Peppa is confused as she "unintentionally" sprays George in the kisser. Like I'm buying that it was not intentional. George teases bawling and then giggles. HAHA! George counters and Peppa is soaked to the gills. Peppa screams and bails behind Grandpa Pig who gets spayed by George and Grandpa Pig oversells it. By the way, those bottles must have TARDIS abilities because they don't seem to run out of water at all. DOCTOR WHO~?! Grandpa Pig loves it and dares them to spray him, and they do. But wait, it's all a ruse because Grandpa Pig sold it in order to make sure the water squeezers run out of water. HAHA! Granny Pig than walks in with a bucket of water and fills up the bottles again. Grandpa Pig: Oh, snap! Peppa and George are giddy; but Grandpa Pig wisely bails stage left like the steamed ham that he is. George still calls him "Papa Ig" of course as we cut to Grandpa Pig in his workshed working on something, judging by the noise. I see the whole watering system is no longer in evidence in this episode. Damn those two clueless police officers, they must have removed them! Grandpa Pig brings out an orange plastic sheet rolled like a jelly roll and heads up the hill. Peppa is confused and thinks it's a paddling pool. Grandpa Pig claims that this is better and rolls it out to create a plastic water slide. I then realize that the pot I put a pin on was a coiled rubber hose attached to the faucet. Of course! What a fool I am?! Grandpa Pig uses the hose to create a water stream down the plastic slide. Somehow the water stops like a swimming pool at the end of this and not go in all directions. SUZY SHEEP~?! Peppa and George go down the slide trying to catch each other and then go back in. Granny Pig comes out wearing her swimming costume with white flowers, thinking that this is fun.
Granny Pig wants a go and Grandpa Pig then gets an evil look in his eyes and agrees to it. Then he turns the hose around and splashes Granny Pig with water to the face. Oooooo...I did not see that one coming. What an asshole Grandpa Pig is?! Granny Pig is not a troll, you giant, evil, anthromorphic, PIG! Granny Pig...don't care and laughs. Granny Pig slides down the slide with glee. Granny Pig then taunts Grandpa Pig to sploosh her with water. That is a stupid move because Grandpa Pig raises the hose and puts his finger into the end of said hose. The water floats past the slide and then like a waterfalls, slams down and just gives Granny Pig the most heinous shower of her life. Granny Pig is our GEEK OF THE WEEK~! Granny Pig laughs as Peppa dares Grandpa Pig to get her and Grandpa Pig moves the hose a bit and splooshes Peppa and George as Peppa fails to move as well as George. That was payback for spraying him with the water squeezers earlier in the episode I should note. Then he adjusts his finger and the hose end itself to make it rain and creates a rainbow just to make the bigots look even worse than they already are. You know what that means?! Peppa gets to sing the "Rainbow Song" back from pre-reboot. However, the rainbow must die as Grandpa Pig turns off the water. The kids groan but Grandpa Pig has a valid point because water wasting is awful. Then Grandpa Pig brings in the boots because we all know where this is going because there are muddy puddles on the ground. DING! The perfect way of saying "I know how to get out of this" as everyone jumps up and down in muddy puddles. The grandparents join in because we have to do the earthquake ritual as they do the backsplash laugh while the narrator says it all to end the episode at 4:30. Just your fun usual Peppa Pig love in. *** 1/2 (70%).
Magic Trick: This episode is #404 on the animation paper and the episode opens at the house on the hill as we zoom into the kitchen on the eastern side of the house which is where the sitting room was. SUZY SHEEP~?! The Pig family is having breakfast with Mummy Pig and Daddy Pig drinking tea while the kids are having cereal. Mummy Pig's cellphone rings at 8 AM and it's Mummy Elephant in the sitting room with part flavors in the background and Emily Elephant doing teeth smiles and running about, acting so giddy. You see, Mummy Elephant is asking Peppa if she wants to come to Emily Elephant's birthday party. Peppa says yes to it and Mummy Elephant also wants Daddy Pig to attend to do some magic tricks. Daddy Pig takes the cell phone, hears the terms, and accepts them. Then he turns off the cellphone and fumbles with it before grabbing it. This was enough for Mummy Pig to say that Daddy Pig needs practice with the magic. Riiiiggghhhtttt. Peppa Pig wants to watch him practice and Daddy Pig agrees to it. Jump cut to the sitting room as Daddy Pig puts the purple magic box with stars, moons and circles drawn on it on the table. Daddy Pig brings out an egg, cuts a promo, opens the box and places the egg inside. He is going to make it disappear, you see. That's easy: That is what the tummy is for, you see. He closes the box, says the magic word of doom, opens the box and the egg is gone. Peppa wants to know how the egg disappear and Daddy Pig is teeth smiling because he has to say that the magician never reveals his secrets. Peppa invokes the adorable please of doom, which means Daddy Pig must reveal the secret or his teaching of saying "please" and "thank you" is hypocritical. Daddy Pig then shows off the secret: He put the egg as far to the back wall as possible, say the magic words and then pushes a button to put in a second wall in front of the egg to hide it. It's a magic trick, you see. Peppa is like "oh" and then we jump cut to Daddy Pig driving Peppa up to the rose house on the hill, which is Emily's residence. Daddy Pig enters the hallway with his magic tuxedo along with Peppa. Lots of balloons galore as Mummy Elephant meets and greets. Emily Elephant is with Edmond Elephant along with Danny Dog, Suzy Sheep, Rebecca Rabbit and Pedro F'N Pony.
Daddy Pig tells them to wait as he walks upstairs to change into his magician's clothes, but he leaves the magician's suitcase on the floor. Uh-oh! Daddy Pig is going to be GEEK OF THE WEEK~ after this one. When Daddy Pig is out of sight, Peppa opens the suitcase, brings out the magic box and the brownish egg. I'm just gonna to say: Peppa "performs" the same trick Daddy Pig did earlier in the episode. Except Peppa's magic word is much, much funnier than Daddy Pig's. I not going to try to say it, you need to hear it to believe it. The trick works anyway as I was expecting Peppa to screw that one up. Yes, the kids ask nicely how she did it and yes, she shows the secret, almost word for word with Daddy Pig actually. Pedro is the one who says the magic words, and his was more confusing than Peppa's. Danny Dog is not impressed, but Emily calls it a good magic trick as Mummy Elephant finally comes in to inform the kids that the show is about to start and all the kids head into the sitting room. The kids all sit down in front of a small table with a white cloth with it as Daddy Pig is dressed up like an undertaker, but he's the Amazing Mysterio~! Sorry, Daddy Pig, if you don't perform a 619, you are not a Mysterio! Those are the rules, I didn't make those up. Daddy Pig brings out the suitcase, brings out the magic box and the egg. I think you all know where this is going now as all the kids guess the trick while Daddy Pig is performing it. Yup, Daddy Pig is our GEEK OF THE WEEK~! Not for revealing the secret to Peppa, but for not bringing the suitcase upstairs with him when he was changing clothes. I love that the kids do all this, but when Daddy Pig pushes the button, they turn their heads the other way so not to see the button. That was funny. They also do slow claps afterwards, just to make a complete fool out of Daddy Pig. Then they want Daddy Pig to do the trick again, because they like the trick. We do the magic trick again with the kids chanting in stereo, Mummy Elephant comes in as the kids do the backsplash laugh while the narrator says it all to end the episode at 4:30. This was good, as it seems the show is rushing the birthday parties for the other kids for some reason. *** 1/2 (70%).
Jumping Stick: This episode is #405 on the animation paper and the episode opens at the house on the hill during a rainy day as Mr. Zebra and his post truck arrives. Mr. Zebra is such a scab, not even giving a damn about unions. Mr. Zebra has a tall cardboard box as the narrator explains the obvious to us. There is lavander on the bottom and beige in the middle of said box as Mr. Zebra rings the doorbell and Daddy Pig answers the door. Daddy Pig speaks in a low voice and thanks Mr. Zebra while grabbing the box and closing the door as Mr. Zebra leaves. I don't see the point of why Daddy Pig has to lower his voice, it's not like anyone cannot hear him. Daddy Pig closes the door and turns around to see Mummy, Peppa and George Pig leering at him. Yup, what a geek?! Daddy Pig plays dumb, which makes him look dumb as he opens the package to reveal a jumping stick. Mummy Pig is not amused because they have lots of junk in storage as Daddy Pig thinks a jumping stick would be fun. Daddy Pig calls the jumping stick the best fun he ever had. Yeah, I'll bet! We get a flashback of Simon Pig with a helmet on bouncing on a jumping stick near pylons, which if Daddy Pig was a child then, I would assume that there were no helmet laws present. I call this awfully sus, if you know what I mean. Peppa wants a demonstration and Daddy Pig is going to demonstrate the jumping stick (pogo stick in case no one knows what I am talking about). Mummy Pig wants him to take it outside, but Daddy Pig don't care. Daddy Pig bounces into the next room and takes a nasty off-screen bump into I think it's the sitting room because when he comes back, Daddy Pig looks wrecked and his glasses are wrecked. If there was a pot on his head, then he was in the kitchen. Daddy Pig is dumb. By the way, he wasn't wearing a helmet in that scene, but when he goes outside, he wears the helmet! In essence, the flashback was BS&P. SUZY SHEEP~?! Also, everyone outside is wearing their boots as Daddy Pig demonstrates the jumping stick outside, but the steep hill of doom is present and I betcha Daddy Pig falls off the jumping stick and tumbles to the bottom of said steep hill. I check the video...Damn, I'm so good. Also, he did is backwards! Daddy Pig is dumb. Daddy Pig recovers and Mummy Pig takes the helmet and wants a go. Daddy Pig blames the jumping stick like a shitty programmer blaming the system rather than it's own skills. Mummy Pig checks it and it's fine. Daddy Pig is our GEEK OF THE WEEK~!
Peppa and George want a go, but helmets must be worn, so they appear with the bikes by teleport. SUZY SHEEP~?! Peppa gets on and despite the jumping stick being shorter, Peppa bounces off the stick and lands on her ass. Peppa declares this impossible. She would have been laughed out of the casting call, she's so overdramatic. Daddy Pig blames the ground being too soft. Mummy Pig gets back on with helmet and proclaims that it's fine. I'm beginning to suspect that Daddy Pig's flashback might be sus. George's turn and he has to be helped onto the stick, and he cannot bounce at all, which makes him the second best Pig member on the stick by default. Yup, he's too young at this point. Peppa regains the stick and tells everyone to leave, to demonstrate that she got it right this time. Mummy Pig isn't exactly amused by this bossy antics by Peppa; but everyone except Peppa bails. Peppa readjusts the stick as we have Suzy Sheep on her scooter, Danny Dog is on his bicycle and Pedro F'N Pony on his orange space hopper. All have their boots on. If you cannot guess the final spot right now, you have no business reading this rant. We meet and greet and exchange notes for a while. Then Pedro Pony suddenly JAQ's off like George Pig. WHY?! Never mind, it was only once. More talking as Peppa demonstrates her practice and it's literally one jump before Peppa bounces off. At least she lands on her feet this time. Suzy and Danny try and Danny can only do one bounce and Suzy can only do two bounces. Yeah, Suzy outdos Peppa, AGAIN! Pedro no sell and we find out why he was saying why earlier: He's riding a space hopper, which is more or less the same thing as a jumping stick. The other kids are confused. Pedro is the smartest kid in the room right now, and smarter than Daddy Pig. Ponder that for a moment. Only Mummy Pig is smarter than Pedro Fucking Pony! Peppa tries again and gets four more bounces before losing herself and dropping ass first onto a conveniently placed muddy puddle. DING! Peppa Pig finally gives up and gives the jumping stick to Mummy Pig as she gets up. Mummy Pig and George bail as Daddy and Peppa exchange notes. Peppa decides that there is only one thing worth jumping up and down into. You know what it is, you know! Everyone jumps into muddy puddles, except for Mummy Pig.The narrator proclaims that jumping sticks are good for big girls and boys, but muddy puddle jumping is literally for everyone. Mummy Pig is pogo sticking while the rest are jumping up and down in muddy puddles. We end the episode with a "DING!" at 4:30. This was a fine little episode with a muddy puddle love in. *** (60%).
Adventure Caravan: This episode is #406 on the animation paper and the episode opens at the house on the hill as Daddy Pig backs up his car containing a caravan, which is a trailer attached to a car, unlike the camper van which the camper is fused with the van. Got all that? Good. Also, like the camper van, this episode is the beginning of a two part arc as well. Peppa and George comes out as Mummy Pig comes out with a blue suitcase which thank goodness, she packed within her means this time around. Daddy Pig explains that the holiday will be taking place in a caravan and that it isn't staying home. You can use it as an extra room at the residence if you like, but that's not the original purpose. Peppa was covering her bases here, which I approve. Everyone gets into the car and it's time to drive down the road for the TEDDY RUXPIN SONG OF DOOM to waste some time in a four and a half minute episode. They drive for a long ass whomping time, Peppa and George tease falling asleep. I wish I could fall asleep, but I got work to do right now. They are driving now on some beach area as Peppa and George wake up as Peppa thinks they are on the moon. HAHA! Narrator: They are not on the moon. Daddy Pig stops at a tourist information booth which you all know Miss Rabbit is attending in job...Ah, forget it! They are not aborting this sad angle, let's just get it over with. The family exchanges note with Miss Rabbit, whatever. I'm tired of screaming about how Miss Rabbit is crying for help and no one except me cares. George sees paper and the largest potato in the world, so says Mummy Pig. Yawn, whatever. Everyone picks their favorite place to go, as Peppa Pig is having some weightlifting issues again. Miss Rabbit lets her take as many leaflets as possible and decide in the car. Sounds reasonable to me as Peppa takes the leaflets. Everyone gets into the car and leaves. We drive some more as George loves potato (which he pronounces as "tato"), and Peppa still has weightlifting issues. She's more indecisive than me.
Mummy Pig decides to let George do his thing as we scene change to the family arriving in the parking lot at the world biggest potato. Peter Glazebrook and Doug, you have some work to do beating THAT POTATO~! Even the mystical Idaho Potato cannot match this mystical potato! Seriously, it's made of plastic potato, as usual. Sigh. Daddy Pig pounds on plastic and is not impressed. Peppa is less impressed because she wants some excitement. They decide to return to the caravan car and drive some more with singing and hilly roads abound! They are stuck in the clouds as apparently, they are in the Cape Breton Highlands on the Cabot Trail. I know Nova Scotia is not Great Britian, but whatever. I can do the SUZY SHEEP~ defense better than anyone on this show! The car parks in the fog and everyone gets out. Daddy Pig has a wee bit trouble finding the side door, but manages to open said door without incident. Okay. Everyone gets in and apparently, they have trouble inside; but the scene changer indicates that everything is fine. Anyhow; now we see Daddy Pig cooking soup on the stove with the rest of the family at the small table. Daddy Pig pours the soup into bowls, as it's Adventure Caravan soup, a clapback to the camping trip where they had tomato soup in the open. Daddy Pig backs up and bumps into the light in the background. Then we get a really funny logic break: They eat soup throughout the night and started eating soup wearing their regular clothes. When it becomes AFTER HAPPY HOUR (after dark), they finish their soup in their pjs. SUZY SHEEP~?! Daddy Pig pushes some buttons to make bunk beds for Peppa and George on the right and a button on the table to create the adult beds as everyone is put in bed. Daddy Pig after 400+ episodes or so is still using the creepy "my little piggies" tagline for good night. Everyone says good night as the lights are turned off and the fog is lifting. The narrator says it all to end the episode at 4:30. By the way, the ending credits feature signs, signs, everywhere a sign. There's no scenery to block from my eyes! Yes, I stooped to watching a Tiktok video on Youtube, so shoot me. This episode was fine. ** 3/4 (55%).
Caravan Friend: This episode is #407 on the animation paper and the episode opens back at the camping spot in the morning on a lovely sunny day as Daddy Pig comes out and then he is scared of heights because the car and caravan are at a scenic cliff despite the fact that Daddy Pig is so far away, there's no way I can take him seriously here. RETIRE THIS PHOBIA, ASAP! ENOUGH! This is beyond absurd now! This is not funny, this is just doing a horrible spot for the sake of doing it. Daddy Pig hides back into the caravan as Mummy Pig blows Daddy Pig off, making it even worse. Mummy Pig, Peppa and George walk out and they love the view and so do I. Not only are they punching down on Daddy Pig, the writers are punching down on nature as splash damage. Listen, I'm fine with people pointing out how dumb Daddy Pig is, but everyone acts like that sometimes on this show. Daddy Pig is the only guy who has this phobia and George at least is young enough to be able to grow out of it. I hate this angle. Daddy Pig stays in to have cereal in the trailer while the rest of the family had cereal outside with the canopy up for good measure. Mummy Pig proclaims that it is so relaxing as a seagull flies on the far shot of the cliff. Then she gets shocked by a female kid anthro bear with a purple dress and daisy hat, which was funny. Yup, this is Birgit Bear's debut and it is widely believed that in storyline, she is an Estonian nation as per her name, like Lottie and Mummy Llama are German nationals since they speak German. She is voiced by Ingrid Fridlund, whom Peppa Pig is currently the only appearance. Birgit and Peppa meet and greet; and we introduce Daddy Bear and Mummy Bear, whom I don't believe are the same bears from an earlier Peppa Pig episode since it was suppose to be a Three Bears reference and not an actual family in storyline. The adult bears are having tea and their caravan is much, much cooler than Daddy Pig's just to twist the knife further on him, although this one is at least funny. More exchanging of note between the families ensue as Peppa proclaims that this view doesn't do anything. Well, I disagree. This view pissed me off because the writers thought having Daddy Pig be afraid of heights was a funny joke. It wasn't and just made me angrier. Kids making fathers look like playthings is funny. Adults making fathers look like geeks can be funny when booked right. Fathers making themselves as playthings can be funny when booked right. Writers treating fathers like playthings can be funny if booked right. This was booked so wrong, it was not funny at all. Anyhow, the Bear family leaves. You know what, I wouldn't put it past this writing team to have Daddy Bear and Doctor Brown Bear be Birgit's two daddies, and have a mummy. Why not?! Pushing boundaries is cool, am I right?! Yes, until it is not of course.
Let's continue on with this story before I lose my mind as they check the spike holding the caravan and car and it's fine, so what was the point of this?! Not that I mind, since it's still better than Daddy Pig's fear of heights. Scene change to the carvan/car on the boring road heading west. Just because there are mountains and trees in the background doesn't make it less boring. Mummy Pig asks about what Peppa's choice is and Peppa is literally weightlifting the location papers. Peppa is that indecisive. Mummy Pig decides to let her think about while Daddy Pig visits his favorite place. When I saw that teeth smile, I knew exactly what the landmark was before I even saw it. Yes folks, it's the block of concrete on the hill! BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! This mostly makes up for the phobia spot earlier. I was howling with laughter. Of course this is Daddy Pig's favorite location. He probably visits this multiple times per year, probably behind Mummy Pig's back. Mummy Pig don't care either way, so like Grandpa Pig buying stamps behind Granny Pig's back and Granny Pig not caring about, Daddy Pig is our GEEK OF THE WEEK~! Peppa face was like "you need therapy", especially when Daddy Pig was so giddy to see it. You would think after Simple Science and Parking Ticket that Daddy Pig would be less excited for this block, but it only increase his excitement! Daddy Pig is going to die covered in concrete, and I'm shocked no one has made a Youtube poop video of this yet. This show is literally DARING THEM TO DO IT~! This is incitement! Then Birgit Bear runs in to shock Daddy Pig and his selling was so hilariously hideous, I laughed my ass off. Even funnier, Mummy Bear loves concrete! Yes folks, I was wrong when I wrote that Simple Science rant years ago, Daddy Pig is not it's only fan. I should have known! Then it gets better: Mummy Bear and Daddy Pig talk about the science of the quality of concrete. I cannot do it justice, the promos they cut were so awesome and it ends with Mummy Bear getting an out of nowhere tiny hammer from Mummy Pig (!!). Mummy Bear gives the hammer to Daddy Pig, Daddy Pig taps the concrete, it makes a sound and both concrete lovers listen to the sound and cut a promo on it. I have zero clue what they are saying and neither does anyone else in the scene outside of the lovers who love concrete. Phobia angle is NO BUYS, but concrete lover angle is BUYS! I would have love to see Daddy Bear's reaction; but he doesn't appear in this scene for some reason. Then the sky goes dark blue, the two kids are blowing this concrete fetish off in the nicest words possible and then nature is like "Fuck You Lovers!" and rains on their love for concrete. I didn't know nature was capable of caring enough to kink shame anyone, much less these two lovers of concrete! I was sobbing with laughter after watching this, this makes up for the phobia angle at the beginning of the episode by a mile!
Everyone leaves and we scene change to a wobbly hilly boring road as Mummy Pig is relieved as somehow, the trailer separates from the car. Okay...If Daddy Pig took the spike out and forgot to put it back in, this makes sense and Daddy Pig is dumb. The problem is, he put the spike back in before driving again. The spike was nowhere to be seen on the caravan in his very scene! SUZY SHEEP~?! This is not Daddy Pig's fault, this is the continuity coordinator's fault for not making sure Daddy Pig forgot to put the spike back in! The Bear family drives in on the left side of the road, honking it's horn to inform them that their trailer is separated from the car. Birgit informs Peppa of this and the Pig family sees the trailer, which is also on the wrong side of the road. Luckly, a giant up hill manages to slow down the speed of the trailer and Daddy Bear makes the save because he's a bear and therefore very strong. Mummy Pig, drives the car in front of the trailer, everyone else gets out as she thanks them for saving the trailer. Daddy Bear notices that the hammer pin is gone and I owe the continuity coordinators an apology because someone did pull out the hammer pin during this. That tiny hammer Mummy Pig gave th Mummy Bear earlier..ahem..was in fact the spike that held the trailer. I take it back, Mummy Pig is our GEEK OF THE WEEK~! I deserve the award too for thinking this was a logic break because I'm so used to Daddy Pig being so dumb that I have to defend him when he isn't dumb and writers logic break to make him look dumb when the logic makes no sense. Mummy Pig is blushing so hard, her promo is so weak that she's dumber than Daddy Pig. Peppa is still indecisive about going somewhere, so Birgit recommends the Caravan Park, which is basically a camping park for caravans. There is a playground that looks okay, but then we get a sort of debut of Daddy Mouse in overalls with a cyan blue shirt and a ranger's hat with shoes on informing them that the place is closed due to the rain ruining everything. WHAT?! You couldn't say that it's full and they cannot take any more caravans. Daddy Mouse says nothing is open and the only thing left is all the muddy puddles in the rain. If you cannot guess the final spot now, you have no business reading this rant. Peppa: I know how to get ourselves out of this. DING! Everyone jumps up and down in muddy puddles, except for Daddy Mouse who is confused. Mandy Mouse be like: First time, Dad?! The narrator says it all to end the episode at 4:30. Started out awful, but the rest of this was awesome. **** (90%). At least ** are for the entire block of concrete on the hill moment alone.
Chloé's Birthday Party: This episode is #408 on the animation paper and the episode opens with the Pig family walking west as there is another birthday party in progress. This time it's Cousin Chloe's birthday party and also invited are Simon Squirrel and Belinda Bear, the only four kids Chole likes and respects. Auntie Pig and Uncle Pig wave hello, but where is Baby Alexander?! Oh damn, it's bad enough seeing adults abandoning four year olds like Freddy Fox and Wendy Wolf; but now Baby Alexander is abandoned?! This only makes me respect Calliou just a little bit more, you cocky fools! We meet and greet as Cousin Chole has a bouncy castle...ERRRR...I mean, bouncy thingie because castles are for little children. Peppa then says George is DQ'ed for the bouncy thingie because he's little. YOU TROLL~?! George does not bawl his eyes on cue and just sighs. Out comes Miss Rabbit in a knight suit; basically proving that Cousin Chole is lying about this thingie not being a castle. Cousin Chole is our GEEK OF THE WEEK~! Miss Rabbit pushes some button and it's a massive maze of a bouncy castle. BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Cousin Chole, you have just been roasted by Miss Rabbit! Miss Rabbit explains the rules of engagement as the object of the game is the first one to find the key and use it to open the CHEST OF DEMONS wins the game. Also, no shoes allowed. The big kids flick off their shoes and enter the bouncy castle maze. The first stage is a bunch of wobbly pillars colored in plastic. Ready, steady, go~! The kids all pop through the pillars. Chole gets stuck at one point. Simon Squirrel literally pops and one of the pillars gets pops him right in his kisser. OUCH! That had to suck, Simon is probably hating life. Peppa is smaller than they are, so she goes through with ease and wins. Of course! What a fool I am?! Peppa is the star and everyone else is a geek. Next stage: the swiss cheese blue castle walls. Peppa pops through with ease, everyone else is stucker than Daddy Pig in concrete. Next stage: a slippery wall with knobbly colored bit, which Daddy Pig helpfully points out. Cheater. Peppa cannot get up the hill and slides down despite Daddy Pig encouragement as the big kids manage to take the lead on Peppa. HAHA! Submission to arrogrance causes geeks of the week. Simon is a squurrel, so this makes sense and Belinda is fine doing it; but what is Chole's excuse?! Chole decides that Peppa has been punished enough and helps her climb the slippery slope of doom. Mummy Pig praises Chole for her sportswomanship. Next stage: a giant slippery purple slide. Simon Squirrel wins, Peppa is in second, Belinda is in third and Chole is last. Yes, the birthday girl is last... AGAIN! At least this one was Chole losing instead of a SUZY SHEEP~ logic break like the Party Bus episode was.
The final stage is the climbing frame of doom. The rules are simple: climb to the other side to win. If you slip and fall, you lose and fall into the pit of doom and die. Okay, I made up the "die" part; you just cannot win the key and the chest of demons. They'll be fine. By the way; should I mention that they do martial arts zoom ins to jackhammer the point home on this final stage?! No? Okay, let's move on then. Belinda tries first, and slips and falls down the pit of doom within seconds after grabbing. Belinda sucks at the climbing frame. Don't worry, Belinda slides down and lands on a blue mattress safe and sound. Belinda has no hard feelings and bails. Simon Squirrel is next and makes it halfway before slipping and falling. Too much swing in that one, you gotta pace yourself properly to prevent slippage. Chole and Peppa do it at the same time, Peppa makes it halfway and Chole only marginally does better than Belinda. Both slip and fall into the pit of doom and that is that. So, no one wins the game. But wait, Mummies and Daddies are allowed, so this game must continue. Oh, this is going to be fun to mock and damn it to hell if I'm not right. Daddy Pig basically channels Simon Squirrel here because he has to be the GEEK OF THE WEEK, everytime. They skip the second stage altogether, and then we get a hilarious moment: The adults slide down the purple slide. They make it to the bottom. However, none of the adult can stop themselves, they cannot slow down, they were all aware of their fate on how cruel and unfair life is, and they fall down the pit of doom without being able to get to the climbing frame. I laughed and laughed and laughed some more. The adults are not amused by this, but I am. Now, I know how this has to end: George is unbanned from the event, he does everything, beats the final stage, wins the key, slides down the slide and opens the chest for the win. I check the video....Damn, I'm so good. And George did it clean as a sheet. There was zero help from anyone, especially in the final stage where I expected him to cheat by sidestepping the stage; but he didn't. AWESOME! This is a great finish. Everyone claps in unison as George jumps up and down with glee. George opens the chest to reveal a birthday cake which Chole has to blow the candles out for obvious reasons. Sadly, the cake is not as cool as Candy Cat's birthday cake. Chole grabs George and thanks him for being brave and George is beaming. Everyone has slices of cake. However, they managed to get ten slices of the cake and still have 2/3's cake leftover is a case of...SUZY SHEEP~?! Peppa loves this as everyone laughs to end the episode at 4:30. I loved this episode a lot more than Candy Cat's birthday because it was a refreshing take on the bouncy castle and George beats everyone, and I do mean everyone. **** 1/2 (90%).
Broken Party Bus: This episode is #409 on the animation paper and the episode opens on a boring road with Grandpa Pig driving his yellow car with Peppa Pig and Suzy Sheep in the back. We head to Granddad Dog's garage because Grandpa Pig needs to make sure that we ask the question "Why are they best friends, again?!"...and get petro of course. Granddad Dog fills the tank with gas after asking if he wants air to fill up his head. Okay, I made up that last bit. In comes Danny Dog with wipers and a bucket of water along with Pedro F'N Pony. Danny explains that they are helping wash the windows and Grandpa Pig claims that his windshield is dirty, even though on screen, it's clean as a whistle. Either Grandpa Pig is talking about his computer needing a software clean, or this is a case of SUZY SHEEP~?! The wipes they are using to clean the windows are sponges attached to sticks, thus making the window look even messier. The soap is more dangerous than the wipers, show. Then we hear the most corrupted music in the entire series and it's because here comes the second appearance in the mainline series, the Party Bus. Driven by Miss Rabbit as the music is horrible, it's spitting water up into the air and apparently, the airbags in the undercarriage are broken. Granddad Dog and Miss Rabbit exchange notes as Granddad Dog opens the engine and the engine is a little bumpy; but otherwise is working fine. Miss Rabbit proclaims that it's not the bus itself that is broken, it's the Party Bus Balloon maker as it is the thingie that is shooting water out of it when it's shown inside. The kids are amused by this, that was funny, even more so since the adults are not amused by this at all. The jukebox is playing weird music and the slide has been super frictionized because she goes super slow down it and Miss Rabbit is stuck. Something tells me Reggie Rabbit is behind this, because this would be on-brand with his weird antics.
This theory is even more obvious when we discover that Granddad Dog and Grandpa Pig have to admit that this is way outside their expertise. Yup, Miss Rabbit will have to call her dad. Grampy "Reggie" Rabbit, everyone because only he is wacky enough to mend these parts. By the way, Nick's BS&P has taken over since they said fix everytime here, not even one use of the word "mend". Miss Rabbit is not thrilled by this, but she has no choice but to ring him up. Jump cut to Reggie Rabbit at his boatyard pushing a brake pedal while sitting in a chair with his back arched back trying to catch a piece of cheese in his mouth from a giant wooden basket full of cheese and failing to catch one everytime. I cried with laughter seeing this. This is something WildCat Puma would have done in TaleSpin and be just as hilarious. Molly Cunningham would have laughed this out of the building and even Kit would have been amused by this. All the cheese is literally in a spot where there is no chance in hell Reggie was catching it. No chance whatsoever. The telephone rings and Reggie answers the phone. Miss Rabbit and Reggie exchange notes and Reggie is happy to fix the Party Bus and the party bus is coming right now. Keep in mind, this makes sense because the bus itself works fine, it's the slide, jukebox and balloon maker that are broken. Although the way the bus is bouncing on the boring road on the next shot with the kids on top and Miss Rabbit driving it tells me the airbags underneath might be extremely sus. The party bus makes it to the boatyard as Reggie is waiting with glee. Reggie brings out his hammer as they all head inside to the balloon maker as it is demonstrated again. Reggie talks about blowing socks off just to be Reggie Rabbit. He then hammers it, puts an orange button panel on it and somehow the thing is blowing up balloons. SUZY SHEEP~?! Seriously, that hammer is a magic hammer and it does split magic points, it seems.
Reggie added some sort of function to it as next up is the Jukebox as it's suppose to play party music, but not hard rock music. I guess that was the compromise for what I heard as heavy mental music. Fair enough as Reggie sulks; but decides to fix the jukebox by hammering it and adding a green button which covers the heart button partially. Shot to the heart, you're too late! Reggie gives love a bad name! POW! OUCH! Ummmm... Next up is the slide and Reggie wants it to shoot people up in the sky. Miss Rabbit just tells him to make it an option and Reggie does. He hammers the slide, puts a vent on the wall of the bus and then the purple button panel is hammered into the wall below it. I guess he discovered that this party bus has no air conditioning, which is incredible foresight on Reggie's part. Peppa goes down the slide with ease and that is that. Yes, that hammer is magic. See, Suzy Sheep was right all along. Can I enter this world and get away from MY OWN?! No? Dammit! Then Mummy Rabbit and Rebecca Rabbit appear in a car. The car stops and out comes the two as Mummy Rabbit has a swiss cheese cake, because it's Grampy Rabbit's birthday today! I think this is the first member of the Rabbit family to have a birthday on this show. Miss Rabbit is totally screwed, she forgot her dad was having one as Reggie Rabbit don't care because there is a party bus behind them just for the moment. You can guess what happens next: Reggie invokes all the options in the birthday party celebration and does all the stunts. I check the video...Damn, I'm so good. Reggie does have a helmet and a parachute for the last spot. Everyone rightfully laughs with him and at him while the narrator says it all to end the episode at 4:30 with Reggie blowing out the candles on the way down. This episode as always with Reggie Rabbit is AWESOME! Sadly, the heavy mental music didn't play in the end credits. Sigh. **** 3/4 (95%).
Spooky Clubhouse: This episode is #410 on the animation paper and the episode opens at the clubhouse in the fall as the kids are playing around with the adults talking. The adults for today are Daddy Pig, Mummy Pony, Doctor Pony, Mummy Sheep and Mummy Dog. The kids today are Peppa Pig, Suzy Sheep, Candy Cat, Danny Dog, Pedro F'N Pony, Zoe Zebra and Rebecca Rabbit. It's weird after all the kids have appeared on this show that the writers decided to use mostly the Series One cast instead. Mr. Fox arrives in his truck with a bat on the antenna, that was great. I should know that the side is "Est. 2022"; which would be copyright 2022, but the copyrights in order seem to be 2021 for some reason. SUZY SHEEP~?! Daddy Fox meets and greets Peppa, Suzy and Pedro, doing the hard sell on plastic pumpkins. Which I would be fine with since real one can make me puke, if you know what I mean. Daddy Fox is wearing a witch's hat for fun and amusement as he continues doing the hard sell as the van is gaining decorations. SUZY SHEEP~?! Seriously, I think something is vandalizing the side of the van in a weird way. Suzy asks Mummy Sheep for permission to make the clubhouse scary and Mummy Sheep agrees with it since it is getting close to Halloween anyway. Mummy Sheep is given boxes of decorations and a plastic pumpkin. If anyone doubt me, Daddy Fox proclaims that it really is a plastic pumpkin. Why not?! We already have trees made of plastic for Christmas. The kids take the decorations into the clubhouse and almost ding the plastic pumpkin in the process. Danny Dog takes the pumpkin inside and slams the door, because adults are banned from entering the clubhouse of course. Danny and Suzy put decorations up as Pedro is not happy with this because his parents don't like scary thingies and thus he doesn't want to show them off. Pedro is also doing the two finger pointing towards each other spot Kit Cloudkicker often does.
Peppa agrees to tone down the scariness of this clubhouse. If they are scared at this, then they are bigger coward than Pedro playing a heel cowboy. More decorations as the clubhouse looks like Christmas, only it's Halloween. I cannot take this seriously as scary even if I tried. Which is a good thing in a pre-school, thank you. Peppa and Zoe draw a face on the plastic pumpkin, and it looks like a clown. Not a scary clown, but just a comical clown. Still better than the generic clown on Teen Titans. Pedro brings out plastic veggies out of the wooden fridge and put it around the plastic pumpkin. They also get faces drawn as the kids decorate the outside with various items and bats. Mummy Sheep comes in amused; but Suzy pushes her away because she'll spoil the surprise. I'm not surprised, Mummy Sheep ruined the goodbye a couple of series' ago. Mummy Sheep is not happy and walks off as we jump cut back into the clubhouse as Danny brings out a ghost costume and wears it. Pedro is not amused judging by that blank stare. Danny does some wailing and Pedro is now scared to death despite seeing Danny put on the costume! It's not the costume, it's the wailing! Nuance is your friend, which kids can get if you teach it. Thankfully, Danny Dog gets it and shakes hands with Pedro and doesn't wail. AWESOME! Rebecca and Candy have witches hats on as they cut promos. Sadly, none of them want to turn each other into a frog anymore. I CLUB BS&P~! Peppa does a great witch impression as the box is checked and it's empty. The kids all groan because Pedro and Peppa don't have costumes yet. Danny's want more stuff as Zoe suggests a puppet show featuring monkey, whom is not scary while Suzy brings out Owlie. They cosplay for awhile. Geez, the GADGET TRICK OF DOOM is heavy in these parts. The magic of Halloween, or is it...SUZY SHEEP~?!
Peppa bails down the slide area to inform the adults that the spooky clubhouse is complete. Peppa claims that the spooky clubhouse is only a bit scary. Yeah, I'll bet! The kids in costumes beg to differ because their costumes have been written in by teleport. SUZY SHEEP~?! The kids all bail inside as Peppa shows off the "scary veggies", which are not scary. Mummy Cat has apparently not seen a scary tomato before. Yeah, I'll bet! Pedro and Zoe (I think) come out as ghosts and Doctor Pony and Mummy Pony are scared of this. Stop wailing, you cocky fools! Pedro thankfully shakes hands with his parents because they are friendly ghosts. Pfft, whatever. The witches (Rebecca and Candy) are next as Candy slides down the slide and makes the adults feel somewhat scared. Rebecca then stops because she forgot her promo. Peppa has to set up the line for Rebecca, because no one is allowed to let the kids tease turning anyone into frogs even though none of them could if they wanted to. Rebecca slides down the slide and her promo sucks. Candy should turn her into a frog off-screen for that one. The windows open as it's time for the puppet show with Monkey and Owlie. By the way, please let Baloo do a Drag-Queen Story Half Hour episode if TaleSpin gets rebooted. It's not like Baloo isn't a drag queen already in storyline in the original series and it's not like there's no such thing on television either. I don't understand the story, it sounds rather creepy as Suzy and Zoe pop up to end the puppet show. Slow claps ensue from the adults as well as laughter. Daddy Pig loved the show as it was scary, but not too scary according to Peppa. Everyone laughs as the kids walk and run around while the narrator says it all to end the episode at 4:30. This was a fun little Halloween episode with the least scary decorations possible. Cut out the wailing though, I wasn't happy with it for a different reason. It made the Pony family look like cowards. *** 3/4 (75%).
THE REVIEW LINE
Well, another set of shorts are in the books and it's another good set. I love Chole's Birthday because it was a really awesome twist to the Bouncy Castle angle and that George beat everyone clean in the race despite being called too little to do it. Molly would have been proud of George for proving the doubters wrong. Broken Party Bus however, was the much better birthday party because it was Reggie Rabbit's birthday and it was exactly as I expected from Reggie Rabbit: Crazy buttons, check. Chanelling WildCat Puma, check. Reggie committing to doing all the stunts he created. CHECK~! Party Bus fixed and awesome. Check! What more can I say?! I'm just disappointed that the Heavy Mental music didn't play in the credit and give the episode full marks. Caravan Friends started off dismal with the most not believable fear of heights spot of all time. No way I could take this seriously, and then we went to Daddy Pig's favorite spot and it was glorious from there. Birget Bear was fine, but her mother and father were even better with the concrete block and the hammer that turned out to be the towing spike that I missed the first time and thought this was a logic break. Caravan Adventure was barely fine as it was just there and Spooky Clubhouse was very good, but the wailing was so stupid. The rest were fun and overall, this was a good set of shorts. Next up, the Apartments arc, the Singing arc, Granny Sheep returns with a radioactive artist tool, and the debut of Auntie Dottie from Horsey Twinkletoes for real. So...
Thumbs up for Caravan Friends, Broken Party Bus and Chole's Birthday Party and thumbs in the middle for the rest. I'll see you all next time.
