Peppa Pig Tales #13 Rant

Reviewed: 12/16/2023

Old School Peppa Pig Is Back! Sort of Part 13!

Well, since Peppa Pig the series has been slowing down and there's only four episodes left in the pot, I was going to resume TaleSpin work this year. An easy series that gives me great joy in terms of mockery and enjoyment. There is still lots let to do before I can finally wrap that show up. Sadly, TaleSpin has been delayed until at least 2023, because my second love and enjoyment decided to really run interference on me. How so you ask? Welcome to the Rant Shack: Peppa Pig Tales! And after the very first episode, I cannot resist and I'm going to rant on these "shorts" because Baby Alexander is back and creating a lot more questions than answers. (March 2023 Gregory Weagle Says: Hold it! I have just gotten word that there is no problems with Uncle and Auntie Pig and the family is getting along just fine. You'll see the evidence in Baby Bumps. Only one missing is Cousin Chole now.) Peppa Pig Tales is a series of short 3-3 1/2 minute episodes (Literally up to 75% of an average "Peppasode".) of Peppa Pig doing stuff without the original voices or creators with most of the "filler" cut out. That's basically it. It is awkward listening to this when you are so used to seeing the show, however; it is basically the same in term of premise. So, I'll be doing eight episodes per block like I always do until this series gets sick and tired of this and goes back to the actual Peppa Pig series which has reached eight series up to this point. How do these episodes fare? Let's rant on shall we..?!

Editor's Note: I will no longer be revealing which episodes were done by who, since my video source keeps cutting off the EDs and it's basically the same five to six writers anyway.

Charity Shop: Short opens in Peppa's bedroom as Peppa is overstuffing a box filled with stuff and she gets stuffed...literally. Mummy Pig comes in amused as the narrator proclaims that Peppa is giving away her stuff to the charity shop and it's called donating. Mummy Pig carries the box out of the room stage left with Peppa giddy with glee. Jump cut to the street where the charity shop is and the car is parked outside. Peppa and Mummy Pig enter the shop and put the box without Peppa in it and gives it to Miss Rabbit of course. It would have been funnier if Mummy Pig put the box on the counter with Peppa in it, just for my amusement. No dice anyway as Miss Rabbit offers Peppa a chance to help sell the stuff as Mummy Pig winks to indicate she'll help by shopping for herself. So, a few objects are put on the shelf as we see Officer "Why does this show hate my kids?!" Panda pick up the soccer ball and bus, and Peppa gasps. This gasp is enough for Officer Panda to shake his head and put the stuff back on the shelf. HAHA! Miss Rabbit puts more objects on the shelf as Peppa is disappointed as Miss Rabbit decides to do the hard sell on the stuffed rabbit to Officer Panda. Here's how the hard sell went:

Miss Rabbit: Do you like stuffed rabbits?
Officer Panda: Yes.
Miss Rabbit: Do you want to buy this stuffed rabbit? (Shows off the stuffed rabbit)
Officer Panda: I do. (Gives the coin to Miss Rabbit and takes the stuffed rabbit.)

If this "hard sell" was this hard, then this charity shop would be profitable and the government would probably make Miss Rabbit pay taxes and lose the charity status. Miss Rabbit then wants Peppa Pig to try the hard sell with a red jumper with snow and a snowman art. Oh, and there is Suzy Sheep and Mummy Sheep as Suzy is shivering as if the place is cold. Someone needs to check the heater in this shop, STAT! Peppa does the hard sell like a rookie shill, Mummy Sheep pays for it and Suzy Sheep accepts. Just like that. I think being Peppa's best friend might have something to do with that one. Suzy and Mummy Sheep leave as Gigi Gazelle shows up with greetings in French and English. Gigi is looking for a gift related to someone who loves sports. 1:1 odds it's the soccer ball. I check the video...tease the wand...damn I'm good. Peppa kicks the ball to Gigi Gazelle, Gigi plays knee bump defense, this is perfect and leaves. Peppa already grabs the toy blue bus from the last episode I ranted on (Grown Up Jobs) and wants to do a hard sell, but there is no one else left, outside of Mummy Pig and Miss Rabbit. Mummy Pig is shopping until she's buried herself and wears a white hat in shame. Miss Rabbit's next plan is to put the toy bus at the window display to increase potential buyers. Peppa does the hard sell, but Mummy Cat and Mr. Bull just walk outside in opposite directions, not caring because they cannot hear Peppa since they are outside the shop, even though we can hear her anyway. This is where subtitles actually are a benefit: Because the scene is outside and we aren't suppose to hear Peppa do her promo, so a subtitle helps in understanding what she is saying without breaking logic. This break is made worse by the narrator stating that they cannot hear Peppa. Finally, the real bus shows up driven by Doctor Hamster, which shows how underpaid her vet work has become, with Reggie Rabbit and Mummy Zebra as passengers. Peppa is overjoyed by this, but the bus drives away and Peppa invokes the 0.5 Rock Lobster Yeti frowny face in response. Somehow, the real bus backs up next to the sidewalk in front of the shop. Doctor Hamster walks in and wants to buy the toy bus, in spite of the fact that in the previous episode, buses don't stop that way. Peppa sells the bus, Doctor Hamster gives money to Miss Rabbit at the counter, Mummy Pig puts all the clothes tomb on the counter and bows; the narrator says it all and this episode ends at 3:16 (!!!). Mummy Pig clearly is on that budget that no one should be in at this point. Just okay, I liked the original mainline version of this episode a lot more due to introducing new characters despite overdoing it and Daddy Pig being a fool for my pleasure. ** 1/2 (50%).

Train Sleepover: Short opens inside the train with the bunk beds as Peppa and George are on top of said beds playing with a beach ball in their pjs. Daddy Pig is on the floor playing with them while the narrator explains the situation as they are taking the train to the seaside. I guess the bus ride in Sun, Sea and Snow cause them to have bad memories, mostly Mummy Pig as she comes in to call for bedtime and Peppa does not want to go to sleep. Somehow a cyan blue chair comes out of nowhere as Daddy Pig proclaims that this is a sleepover, which I think we have done this at least five times in Peppa Pig Tales already. But wait! Peppa declares that one of the rules of the sleepover is the midnight feast and everyone puts their shoes on off-screen and heads to the dining cart, but it's empty and the counter is empty because Conductor Miss Rabbit is asleep in a hammock above the table, snoring. Daddy Pig says "ohh" and Miss Rabbit wakes up and teleports to the counter. See, magic. So, the midnight feast consists of a basketball of strawberries, bananas, apples, oranges and a bottle of warm milk because it's supposed to help you sleep. Miss Rabbit is yawning as the family takes the basket and returns to the train. Miss Rabbit jumps into the hammock and claps her hands to turn off the lights. Return to the train as the family eats the midnight feast. Jump cut to the family brushing their teeth inside the washroom car. Then Peppa is tucked on the bottom bunk bed by Mummy Pig, I don't know why. Peppa wants a bedtime story is Mummy Pig is yawning as she finds a book about the magical night train. It might as well be about Thomas & His Friends for all I know and all I care actually. Daddy Pig is tending to George as Mummy Pig reads the story and we hit the dream sequence with the magical night train crossing a bridge with Mummy Pig narrating. So, the gimmick of this train is that it is powered by the stars and can fly. We have a long ass whomping sequence of the train flying around the moon, in the carters of moon which somehow the train doesn't crash, flying rings around Saturn literally, Peppa is giddy about this, a shooting star passes them, and the train makes an upside down constellation of Peppa's head, because even in a dream sequence we must made it clear that Peppa is the star and everyone else is a geek. Peppa is in awe as the train flies around and enters the Milky Way before finally landing back on the train tracks. I'll give the writers credit here, they actually tired to make this scene epic and it almost worked in fact. Suddenly, it's morning and Peppa wakes up all confused as she slept and was dreaming the whole time. Mummy Pig is confused reading a book, Daddy Pig looks tired, George wakes up. Peppa is blushing with embarassment here as the train arrives at the station. The family gets out with all their beach stuff and clothes on as they make it to the faraway seaside. Daddy Pig puts the blankets down, Peppa and George play beach ball at the waves and the narrator says it all to end the episode at 3:17. The entire dream sequence was the highlight of the episode and it was merely okay otherwise. ** 1/2 (50%).

The Doctors: Short opens at the doctor's office which looks like a mess of toys including the return of the spotty ball. Peppa is dressed like a doctor and George has his health book with the green cross on it because the Red Cross logo is protected. There is a rainbow poster in the background as I awaited with baited breath to see who the doctor is...Not you Peppa, you troll! The eastern door opens and out comes Miss Rabbit informing George that the doctor will see him now. And the doctor is....wait for it.... Doctor Brown Bear. WHAT?! I thought he retired from this show. I guess he got reinstated after promising to wear an actual doctor's outfit instead of his street clothes like I see him all the time on the mainline show. So, yeah; my hope for Doctor Polar Bear and Mummy Polar Bear being in Peppa Pig Tales has been dashed since there are only five episodes left in Series 2! Doctor Brown Bear is clearly using Daddy Pig's voice since he giggles like Daddy Pig at one point. George is refusing to go, so there is one person who wanted it to be Doctor Polar Bear. George throws his health book down on the floor and hides behind Mummy Pig. Wait a second, this is the same George who was at the dentist multiple times in this series and now I'm suppose to buy that George is afraid of a doctor even through the dentist is a doctor?! This is BS, George is hiding because he knows Doctor Polar Bear is a million times more compentent than Doctor Brown Bear is. Hell, he was the poster child for burn out doctors the world over. Peppa basically tells him that the doctor is fine. Most doctors are like this, but not Doctor Brown Bear! Oh, no! George decides to play along and bring in his book. First up, a check of height and George is already hating this for no good reason. He must think this is bigotry, there is no other way to explain it. Peppa decides to have her height measured as Miss Rabbit measures her to the top ear and proclaims that she is very tall. Mummy Pig said she'll grow up to be like her and Peppa blushes because she thinks growing up like Mummy Pig is complete BS. George walks in and gets his height checked and Peppa Pig is lying so hard that George is gaslit into beliving that he's so tall despite being smaller than Peppa. Maybe when he's an adult, the height thingie will not be an issue, but for now; this is dumb. Speaking of dumb, time to check the weight and George looks at it like this is body shaming, but Peppa bounces on the scales to show how fun it is. Weeeee!

Peppa gets off the scales and George starts bouncing on them for fun, and then everyone does the earthquake ritual. That was awesome; although that scale is going to need repairs after this episode is over. Miss Rabbit orders everyone to freeze and George stops, we get the weight and it is written into the health book. Miss Rabbit tells them to unfreeze and everyone catches themselves, but George keeps bouncing. Next up, George sits in the biggest doctor chair I have ever seen and judging by the legs in the artwork, this thing would likely snap apart if I got on it even if the chair itself was big enough for me. That green thingie looks like it would swallow George whole if it had jaws. Miss Rabbit takes the sethoscope away from Doctor Brown Bear as Brown Bear is sad, so yes; Brown Bear is so incompentent that Miss Rabbit won't even let him do something as simple as check George's heart. Why didn't you just have Doctor Polar Bear do the examination, you pandering bigots?! Miss Rabbit uses the sethoscope on George's heart, warning George that it is cold to the touch. George blushes the second it touches his midsection. Peppa gives George her sethoscope and they do the spot of George listening to Peppa's heart with it. George did very well so he gets a dine-e-saur sticker. They tease Miss Rabbit doing this, Brown Bear is like "Sod off for trying to bury me!" and he puts the sticker on George's shirt. At least these writers threw him a bone. Miss Rabbit puts on a dine-e-saur sticker for "Doctor Peppa" because she's the star and everyone is...you guessed it. Peppa is surprised and then everyone giggles with no narrator saying it all to end the episode at 3:06. Fun episode, although I liked Peppa's appointment to the doctor a lot better since it debuted Doctor Polar Bear, half of the two mummies on the mainline show, and she even brought up the vaccaination angle which this episode didn't, although it would have been even better if Peppa got vaccinated like the storybook was! *** (60%).

Sweet Shop: Short opens as the kids all run into the sweet shop (candy shop, everyone) while the narrator explains the obvious to us. Mummy Pig is last in as we have Peppa Pig, Suzy Sheep, Emily Elephant and Pedro F'N Pony as Miss Rabbit tends the counter as usual. Peppa takes out a coin (and so do the kids) and proclaims that she wants to buy everything in the sweet shop. BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA..ah, no Peppa. One candy on the other paw....I just love how Miss Rabbit is amused by this and then has to inform the kids that it's not enough to buy the shop and the kids all frown. As if they thought the outcome would have been different, even in the earlier mainline seasons of this very show. Peppa's blushing makes it even more obvious, and I laughed. Miss Rabbit does say that it's enough for the vending machine which make sweet candy. There are exactly four machines for four kids, Pedro gets to use the strawberry laces machine which uses real fruit and blocks of candy to make a lot more candy. Wow, this world is completely immune to inflation I see. Maybe this really is the Heaven's Gate world I was told about. Pedro's being clueless as well by claiming that strawberries are not sweet. This pony acts like he never had strawberries in his life, despite strawberries being used as food in this very show. That paper bag looks like it can fill a Sweet 16 bag of candy and be 1/10th the price of same bag. Peppa claims that the laces look like strawberry hair and Pedro is right there to literally make an ass out of himself by wearing the laces as hair. Pedro is still smarter than most Sony fanboys, and yes; the XBOX Tax is real and has always existed well before XBOX360 existed . It's just that Microsoft and Nintendo are both compentent now and when that happens, Sony folds like a cheap suit; and the fact that Nintendo is often the one the media tries to crush en masse first and then when it fails; they ignore Nintendo and hope Nintendo goes away; they then try to punch on XBOX to make XBOX counter so they can be seen as victims instead of agressive challengers/enablers. This explains why we are seeing more and more blantent examples of the tax in recent years. XBOX fans need to find a better term than "XBOX Tax" though. It's too close to the "Switch Tax" and that was on developers and publishers, not from the gaming media. I also love Pedro calling the laces his ponytail, despite having a literally pony tail on his ass. That also was funny.

Emily then goes to the green machine which this the rainbow lollipop making machine because she's a sucker for rainbow colored candy, I guess. Well, I use to eat Skittles a lot, so there you go. Emily loves banana flavors the most as she pushes the yellow button and then everyone pushes all the buttons on the panel and a rainbow sucker is made. Miss Rabbit is so happy about this, she probably wants to taste the rainbow after this episode is over. Emily gets the dipensed sucker and she literally licks the rainbow. Suzy Sheep is confused on the cyan blue machine with JAWS OF HALF LIFE arms as Miss Rabbit points out that it is the Candy Floss machine (Cotton Candy in America), which is just more sugar and food coloring. Except in this case, the floss is actually made of coconuts which are flossed into hair like lengths and it turns into Suzy's head on a stick. Suzy eats it and proclaims that it taste like coconuts, thus my theory it was made of coconuts, since regular candy floss tastes like sugar. Miss Rabbit puts two raspberries and a banana onto the face and everyone giggles because Suzy is one of those leopards who eats faces. Whatever. So Peppa goes to an orange machine that seems to play Pluckinco from The Price Is Right...or rigged apparently. Miss Rabbit acts like this is a surprise for Peppa to discover as Peppa puts in a coin and something comes down the pegs and it is a bigger coin. Peppa is confused by this; but then looks at the size of the coin and asks if she can buy more candy. Miss Rabbit calls it pointless because it is the chocolate coin in a wrapper! Of course! I should have known since the thumbnail in this video has Peppa's face messed up with chocolate. Peppa is so happy as she eats the coin and her face is messy. Mummy Pig licks the rainbow with her own rainbow sucker and the narrator says it all to end the episode at 3:07. This was your average fun episode involving fruity candy without realizing that fruit can have sugar in their own right. *** 1/2 (70%).

New School Bus: Short opens in front of the school house on the hill with Gigi Gazelle and the kids cheering the school bus driven by Miss Rabbit, of course! Kids: Peppa Pig, Mandy Mouse, Suzy Sheep, Rebecca Rabbit, Emily Elephant and Pedro F'N Pony. So, the story of the new sprakling bus is that the blue bus is broken down after Miss Rabbit had a vacation...which involves her entering an actual grand prix race and it broke down. BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Yeah, buses are not designed to be entered in grand prix races. We also get cameos of Daddy Pig and Mummy Zebra as the announcer of the race is pointing out that the engine needs big repairs as shown. Nah, I have seen worse. We head back to reality (no, not really) as the kids giggle because they know what really happened and it's funny. Gigi helps Mandy Mouse in as Mandy Mouse's seltbelt check is just like being on a metro bus nowadays. The bus looks much bigger than it should be during the seatbelt check; it might have been designed as a cinema bus, if you know what I mean. Evidence: sound speakers on the backwall and a yellow jug-like thingie that might be a movie projector, or air conditioning. Miss Rabbit's handling of said bus is not very good at first, there is a lot of jerking around in that bus, if you...Yeah, I'm overdoing it at this point. The bus drives at literally 100 KM/H around the roundabout on the boring road. Then it starts hitting bumps so hard, Gigi Gazelle is literally bus sick and turning whiter than me. Peppa is trying to get Miss Rabbit's attention as yes, this road is like it is in a parking lot and Miss Rabbit don't care like a Karen on Road Wars. Oh, and Peppa isn't asking to have the bus slow down so Gigi can feel better; Peppa is asking for Miss Rabbit to play music like the troll she is, the second she mentions music, Gigi is automatically better. She's Austin Aries now. Miss Rabbit shows off her colored button on the control panel. The purple one controls the Stop sign and the cyan blue one shows off televisions of Super Potato. Yup, movie theater bus as I predicted earlier. The green button is for the jug-like thingie that is not air conditioning; but a bubber maker. Why? Why not?! Kids don't care as expected, they are in awe. The orange button controls the music speakers of course. Gigi cannot stand loud music and asks for the music to be turned down, Miss Rabbit is fine with this, pushes the orange button and it resets everything much to the kids groaning. HAHA!

But wait, Peppa decides she is going to invoke the TEDDY RUXPIN SONG OF DOOM and the kids all sing with Gigi rocking her head with approval; just burying the whole movie theater bus idea in one fell swoop. Now, it's just a school bus. The singing wasn't great either, just to further burying the bus and the trolls riding it. Suzy then wants to play "I Spy". Peppa starts and stares at Rebecca and says that it starts with the letter R. Pedro automatically assumes "rope" and he's clueless as usual. Rebecca looks at her ears and proclaims that it's "rabbit". Peppa says she's wrong because it's a "Really Big Roarie". I think she meant Rotary Truck since Mr. Bull enters in a giant yellow truck, the kids wave back and greet him and Mr. Bull drives away. The school bus stops at Mrs. Badger's farm as everyone gets off the bus and Gigi is sick white again. Thankfully, it's all over because Miss Rabbit will return with the bus later because Peppa loves the school bus, the kids love the school bus, Miss Rabbit loves the school bus until she sees Gigi frowning and frowns in kind to end the episode at 3:07. This was another fun episode; but slow down Miss Rabbit, your driving is almost as bad as Whistlestop Jackson flying the SeaDuck in Whistlestop Jackson, Legend in TaleSpin. Almost. *** 1/2 (70%).

Toy Shop: Short opens in the parking complex as Daddy Pig's car arrives inside with Daddy Pig, Mummy Pig, George and Peppa sitting inside. They think they have a parking spot, but Mr. Kangeroo takes it with his black car. They try again, and this is taken over by Doctor Brown Bear in his yellow car. Mummy, George and Peppa decide to walk into the shopping center while Daddy Pig tries to find a parking place. Good luck, you'll need it. Whom? Doesn't matter! We head inside the shopping center with a far shot to show that the mall is at least two floors high. Cameos: Doctor Elephant, and Mummy Wolf. We head into the toy store and I swear this is the same shop as the halloween store, except with toys. Background designs are so binary it isn't funny at this point. The guise of this is to buy toys for Baby Alexander, whom has been so over in Peppa Pig Tales that he's returning in Series 8/Season 10 starting sometime in December on Nick Jr. The two mummies are also coming back, too. Peppa goes over the older kid toys like a mini basketball and hoop, a super soaker (called a blaster for trademark reasons) which fires darts. Peppa is getting blood thirsty on that toy parrot there. Peppa wants to buy Baby Alexander a karoke machine, which is funny because in storyline, Baby Alexander seems to calm down from loud noise; so it makes sense. I betcha Mummy Pig refuses to buy this. I check the video...Damn, I'm good. Those microphones have an echo effect that I didn't know existed in microphones today. The family continues to look for toys as George gets giddy about a model car racing track featuring a large hill, and three barriers with a red car going down the track. It looks similar to the parking lot, only without the parking spaces. Peppa is amused by this as we cut back to Daddy Pig finally finding a parking space, but it's too small for Daddy to get out without causing paint damage to other vehicles. So, Daddy Pig is going to drive around the parking space the same time as George is amusing himself with the model version of the same thing. Mummy Pig and Peppa Pig comes in with a basket containing the doll from the mainline series (the episode involving the doll flying a model airplane) and the always recurring spotty ball. I thought Baby Alexander didn't like spotty balls and George knows this because he no sells the spotty ball instantly. He loves the toy car park; but Mummy Pig thinks BA is too young for this thing. More like too expensive to me.

George also no sells the doll which Peppa calls Teddy for no reason that I can think of. Unless her name is Teddy. Peppa brings out the noisy yellow/red rattles, George no sells this deal; he knows that the only reason to not buy the toy car park is inflated prices, not because BA cannot take it. So, Peppa decides to bring out a bigger green car, George no sells it; so Peppa pushes the button on top of the toy and let's it ride. George actually starts to mellow out on it as Mummy Pig proclaims that this is a perfect toy for BA, thus confessing that it was prices and not age. Miss Rabbit comes in and Mummy Pig exchanges a coin to Miss Rabbit and the family leaves the store and the mall and Daddy Pig arrives just in time to pick them up. Daddy Pig drives them around the car park as the narrator says it all to end the episode at 3:04. A fun episode and little else. *** (60%).

Chocolate Factory: Short opens as the narrator explains the obvious to us while we get a How It's Made demonstrate of how chocolate bars are made from Miss Rabbit. This chocolate factory looks both too generic and too colorful for me to take seriously. Maybe I should watch Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory again, just to mock it. Gigi Gazelle is the teacher and the kids are Peppa Pig, Candy Cat, Emily Elephant, Mandy Mouse, Suzy Sheep, Danny Dog, Rebecca Rabbit, Gerald Giraffe and Pedro F'N Pony. Peppa wants that chocolate and Miss Rabbit says yes; but it has to be made first. Peppa sighs and then just giggles with joy as does the rest of the kids. This never gets old, Peppa treating the machine like a human being and the machine just does it's job without any complaints. Miss Rabbit takes out the chocolate molds and Peppa gets giddy, and Miss Rabbit has to disappoint her, because decoration is important. So, everyone goes into the decorating room; and of course Peppa and Suzy Sheep get a table to the right along with Gigi Gazelle. Rebecca, Mandy and Gerald get the left table and the rest of the kids get the middle table. I should have known Suzy and Peppa are some part of a right-wing conspiracy theory. It's so obvious. No, not really. Peppa wobbles the mold as it's like a muddy puddle and Gigi just buries her by saying that she shouldn't jump in. Keep in mind, Peppa Pig has a song called "Let's Jump In!'. That was funny. So, the kids can decorate the chocolate mold with yummy stuff, but only get one chocolate bar per kid. Rebecca goes for the classy orange and green icing to remind self how much she loves carrots. Mandy does cheese grating on some white chocolate, since cheese would be too soft to grate that hard. Not saying cheese isn't allowed in chocolate, but I'm not buying the physics here. Peppa's is a spaghetti type deal that Miss Rabbit is confused, although they use strawberry lace here. This is going to be a running gag in Series 8, I just know it. By the way, Peppa Pig is back on the mainline front and yes, the two mummies and maybe Cousin Chole are returning, along with Charlotte Sheep and a new character called Granny Sheep as they are finally building up Suzy Sheep's family after ignoring that development for 20 years now! Peppa wants to eat up; but the chocolate bars have to cool in the fridge for a few hours, and by a few hours, I mean literally five seconds. I don't think liquid nitrogen can harden chocolate that fast.

Then again, it's Peppa Pig's world and magic is the rule and not the falsehood. The bars are put on a plate as I notice some have purple icing, purple dots with white icing, one has a lot of nuts (betcha that was Pedro's chocolate bar) and one had literal hard candies in the wrapper! I should note that the strawberry one on the plate appeared to have two chocolate bars with the same strawberries in the fridge during the cooling sequence, so someone in animation was out having a chocolate bar break. Peppa wants to try some chocolate and Miss Rabbit literally teases no, then catches herself and says yes. That was funny. Everyone takes their stuff except Peppa as Mandy and Rebecca eat their chocolate bars and we never find out who was the nut in this group, although it wasn't Pedro Pony, or it was Pedro and the animators got the arm colors wrong. Peppa is not happy with this because she enjoyed liquid chocolate because it reminds her of muddy puddles. But wait, Miss Rabbit has one more surprise as we head into the next room as the liquid chocolates in the pipes near the ceiling reveal three fountains of chocolates: one white, one dark and one milk chocolate. Peppa is excited for this as there are bananas and berries attached to sticks and you can guess the final spot without me saying it. Peppa hugs Miss Rabbit, the kids all dip their fruit sticks into the fountains, everyone eats up and the narrator says it all to end the episode at 2:52. This was great outside of a few errors, and there's nothing better in Peppa Pig than chocolate that reminds you of muddy puddles. **** 1/4 (85%).

Christmas Swim At The Sea: Short opens with Mummy Pig, Peppa Pig, Daddy Pig, George Pig, Gigi Gazelle, Doctor Hamster, Reggie Rabbit, Miss Rabbit and Mr. Bull running on the beach covered with snow and green rocks wearing swimming costumes and carrying umbrellas and beach basket. Yup, you can tell this series is ending when they are crazy enough to do the infamous winter ocean swimming event. Mummy and Daddy are wearing Father Christmas hats as they run and sound like they are blown up. Daddy Pig claims that the sea is a bit chilly since it's winter, which is funny considering that the sea would be warmer than the land if you take more than ten seconds to think about it. In goes the Pig family and Peppa and George do the "I'm so cold" faces while Daddy Pig and Mummy Pig are splashing each other like they don't have a care in the world. Remember Mummy Pig couldn't take this back in the "Sun, Sea & Snow" episode long before the reboot was in effect. Peppa is chilled to the bone with George, calling it too cold and Daddy Pig shows off his toxic masuclinity side by claiming that it's not cold at all. Yeah, I'll bet! Only in Peppa Pig's world where the land is slightly warmer than the sea as Miss Rabbit offers Peppa and George space to sit down under her umbrella tree. The adults take the kids to the umbrella tree as Doctor Hamster is chilled to the bone, on land. Methinks it's the blanket is making Miss Rabbit warm and not the land. Daddy Pig runs back and cannonballs into the sea, splashing Doctor Hamster with water. Geez, I didn't know how much of a jerk Daddy Pig was until this faithful day. Miss Rabbit brings out her thermos and pours cups of hot chocolate to Peppa, George and Doctor Hamster. Apparently, this keeps children warm, adults not so much, so Doctor Hamster is out of luck, I guess. Don't blame me, that is what the narrator said. Oh wait, it was a setup for Doctor Hamster to admit she's warm and the narrator lied by omission and had to confess. Everyone giggles, the narrator sounds annoyed. Mr. Bull and Mummy Pig are having the time of their lives, while Daddy Pig is now freezing cold. HAHA! Serves him right for splashing Doctor Hamster earlier. Mummy Pig is amused by this and even more amused when Daddy Pig denies it, splashes water and calls it refreashing while selling the cold. This just makes the Suzy Sheep/penguin South Pole scene in Peppa Pig's Around The World 15 minute special look like even worse in hindsight.

Mr. Bull splashes water into Daddy Pig's face (hopefully for Doctor Hamster) and swims away stage left with glee. Daddy Pig smells hot chocolate and is happy; but Gigi Gazelle and Reggie Rabbit are freezing cold. Yes, the same Gigi Gazelle who was swimming in the water in "Sun, Sea & Snow" without a hint of selling the cold. The continuity of this episode is shot now. Back to the shore as Miss Rabbit is roasting corn on the BBQ as everyone is wearing ugly Christmas sweaters now. Kit would be like: "I wear them year around, and they don't have pictures on them! Except for the patch on my right arm." In comes the freezing adults as they want corn and hot chocolate and Daddy Pig finally gets his cup of hot chocolate and drinks up. We do some counting as it's corn for everyone, but Daddy Pig. Don't worry; four corn cobs magically appear on the BBQ because Peppa Pig is a magical world with no sense of reality. The smell in the air reaches Mummy Pig and Mr. Bull, and even they admit that it's time for something to eat and drink. You know the narrator has had enough when he accuses them of being jealous of a beach BBQ, despite showing no signs of jealousy at all. That is some obvious projection on your part there, Captain Obvious! Peppa Pig is happy for being as toasty warm as corn as there is enough corn for everyone, except for the narrator because he's been naughty this year and deserves nothing. The end at 3:07. Mess of logics aside, this was a fun episode. *** 1/2 (70%).

THE REVIEW LINE

Well, there was a lot of midding episodes and a great episode in The Chocolate Factory due to Peppa's love for muddy puddles. I always enjoyed Peppa comparing stuff to muddy puddles, most so that episode since melted chocolate would be something I would love to see Peppa jump in. Sadly, it didn't happen. There were a mess of logic breaks in several episodes, especially the final episode of Series 2 as Gigi Gazelle and Mummy Pig seem to have switched positions of selling the cold since the "Sun, Sea & Snow" episode, and they have killed off Gigi's champion ice swimming angle to boot. Everything else you can argue is character development for Mummy and Daddy Pig, but Gigi seems to be a step back. Overall, a fun set of episodes and that is it for Peppa Pig Tales Series 2! Considering that the mainline series has returned on Nick Jr. with 13 new episodes and three additional episodes in cinemas, it appears that Peppa Pig Tales might either take a break, or stop altogther. I don't know what the future holds for Peppa Pig Tales, but the shorts have been so good: The voice acting has been decent despite using new voices, the stories are fun and the characters at least seem to have less cold feet in being themselves instead of being puppets for the demographic. I wouldn't be surprised if this series continues, but for now; there is the new mainline episodes. Sadly, it will make them tougher to review since Hasbro rules the roost and those episodes are designed to make money, unlike Peppa Pig Tales, which is more for advertisting the main show which is why it's so easy to see them on Youtube. So...

Thumbs up for The Chocolate Factory, thumbs in the middle for the rest , and I'll see you all next time.
