Peppa Pig Tales #20 Rant

Reviewed: 07/20/2024

Old School Peppa Pig Is Back! Sort of Part 20!

Well, since Peppa Pig the series has been slowing down and there's only four episodes left in the pot, I was going to resume TaleSpin work this year. An easy series that gives me great joy in terms of mockery and enjoyment. There is still lots let to do before I can finally wrap that show up. Sadly, TaleSpin has been delayed until at least 2025, because my second love and enjoyment decided to really run interference on me. How so you ask? Welcome to the Rant Shack: Peppa Pig Tales! And after the very first episode, I cannot resist and I'm going to rant on these "shorts" because Baby Alexander is back and creating a lot more questions than answers. (March 2023 Gregory Weagle Says: Hold it! I have just gotten word that there is no problems with Uncle and Auntie Pig and the family is getting along just fine. You'll see the evidence in Baby Bumps. Only one missing is Cousin Chole now.) Peppa Pig Tales is a series of short 3-3 1/2 minute episodes (Literally up to 75% of an average "Peppasode".) of Peppa Pig doing stuff without the original voices or creators with most of the "filler" cut out. That's basically it. It is awkward listening to this when you are so used to seeing the show, however; it is basically the same in term of premise. So, I'll be doing eight episodes per block like I always do until this series gets sick and tired of this and goes back to the actual Peppa Pig series which has reached eight series up to this point. How do these episodes fare? Let's rant on shall we..?!

Editor's Note: I will no longer be revealing which episodes were done by whomever, since my video source keeps cutting off the EDs and it's basically the same six to seven writers anyway.

The "Alien Invasion": Short opens in the attic at the white house on the hill as Peppa, George, Granny and Grandpa Pig are watching the stars from a telescope while the narrator explains the obvious to us. Peppa calls a meteor shower a "mityre shower" which Grandpa Pig has to correct her on. Granny Pig is not amused because Grandpa Pig cut her off since Peppa wanted Granny Pig to explain the meteor shower. Grandpa Pig's explaination sounds like we know where Daddy Pig got his sciency talk from. HAHA! Granny Pig at least explains what it actually is without saying it's magic. Good for her! Suzy needs this a lot more than Peppa does, but it's a start. Grandpa Pig asks what they do with shooting star and Peppa wants to keep it in a goldfish bowl. HAHA! Granny Pig is stunned; but recoils and tells them to just make a wish on a star. I'm pretty much that runs afowl with the house of mouse if you catch my drift, which doesn't run afowl with the house of anyone, much less a mouse. Peppa and George close their eyes and then we get earthquakes and flashing lights. Okay, who's doing a muddy puddle rave dance outside?! DADDY PIG~?! Everyone is confused since Peppa didn't wish for that and they look with the telescope as a giant neon green shiny rock falls to HOGIRIA~! Oh come on, now! This is not Earth, otherwise there would be no sadism from the horror flick people. Grandpa Pig proclaims that this is a UFO. Okay, I get that UFO is "unidentified flying object" and a giant neon green shiny rock mostly falls into this term, but this also means that they are aliens from...

Stacie: Don't say it!
Bradlie: Uranus!
Stacie: Real mature, B-Man!

One day, I will review Stickin' Around, honest! (Narrator: Gregory Weagle will not be reviewing that show!) Grandpa Pig explains it and then has no idea what he's talking about. HAHA! Granny Pig wants to check it out, lest Bradlie shows his childish side of things again. Jump cut to the grandparents and kids in the car on the boring road AFTER HAPPY HOUR (after dark). The narrator is going on and on so much that Peppa Pig cuts him off! AWESOME! Peppa then claims that it is a spacesuit with aliens who apparently are green clones of George in spacesuits. Pfft, whatever. Oh, and in her dream sequence, they literally kidnap George and George shakes his head and says "nope" and that ends the dream sequence. I was daring Peppa to say Uranus, but she doesn't sadly. In a show where George stuffed his longneck dine-e-saur into his pants like a plastic penis, Peppa cannot say "Uranus". Bigots! Peppa's next guess is that it is a five pointed star flashing, which at least sounds believable. My guess is a shiny green moon rock that is radioactive. Grandpa Pig is leaning towards me theory, but Granny Pig cuts him off and we go to her dream sequence...BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Yes, a Granny Pig robot in her motorcycle punk era days claiming to be from the future to save the past. From who exactly?! Peppa and George hug the robot in the dream sequence and we return to reality (no, not really). What a shame?! I was looking forward to that payoff, too! Anyhow, they make it to the hill and walk forward to see...Miss Rabbit outside her helicopter with a green siren light. Giant sized groan on my part. That's the payoff to this episode?! Tres disappointing! So, everyone exchanges notes on the situation, Miss Rabbit apologizes, everyone laughs, the narrator says it all, an image of an alien spaceship arrive to end the episode at 3:06. Sadly, the ED got cut off here, so my title will have to do. Fun episode until that lousy finish. *** (60%).

Opening Moment #1: Yup; this is the SECOND episode to feature LEGO Peppa. Swell!

Hide & Seek In The Garden: Short opens with Mummy Pig in the garden playing hide and seek with the kids. Did I mention that everyone is wearing dresses and Peppa and George have a flower on the middle of their shirts?! Wait, is this an anti-Danny Dog device? If so, that seems a little bit mean. Mummy Pig looks around as George giggles behind some LEGO block plants of doom. Daddy Pig panics and then creates a makeshift treehouse window on a tree to hide behind said tree. Daddy Pig then says "oops" and closes the window even though Daddy could have just ducked and Mummy Pig wouldn't have been able to see him. Daddy Pig even as a LEGO figure is dumb. Peppa is hiding in a hole in the trunk of said tree, and Mummy Pig catches her within seconds! Wow, Peppa is dumber than Daddy Pig here, who knew. Daddy Pig laughs right in the window and the females can see him and he's caught because Daddy Pig is still...you guessed it. That leaves the smallest, naughty piggy of doom left, George to find. This might take some time since we have two minutes left to find him in this episode. George then just gives himself up as I discover that the LEGO block is in fact a box of sunflower seeds. Yup, just like that! Peppa blows off George for spilling a bunch of seeds that look like maple chips. Doesn't matter because we'll just plant the seeds instead of just putting them back into the box, because we have to kill time in a three minute episode. Of course! What a fool I am?! By the way, digging up the garden is much more hilarious with LEGO blocks as the soil. Trust me, you'll laugh this out of the building when you see the video. The watering is clearly CGI'ed as they complete the process within thirty seconds.

Mummy and Daddy Pig finally sit down, while Peppa and George want to play hide and seek again. Mummy Pig is not interested, but Daddy Pig wants to be the seeker this time. Okay. So, someone sets up blocks of vines as Daddy Pig finishes his count and here we go. George pops up from the watering can and gives Daddy Pig a shock, basically giving himself up...AGAIN! George don't care as the males have a hearty laugh. Peppa is in the treehouse using a fake yellow bird to run interference and then apologizes to the bird because the bird isn't taking this crap. Peppa then jumps down, tags both adults and Mummy and Peppa Pig basically give themselves up. Peppa and George see a block of soil smaller than the rest and then giggle. Next up, Peppa and George run with soil blocks that look like half picture frames past Mummy and Daddy Pig. Neither adult suspects a thing for about five seconds as everyone runs into the meadows for a while. As this is going on, the sunflower blocks are built because the sunflower is growing at a rate so fast even Suzy Sheep would be impressed by this magic. George is now the seeker and finds Peppa at the treehouse window again within seconds. George pushes some rainbow flowers to find Mummy Pig within seconds and Daddy Pig is hiding behind the sunflower blocks as Daddy Pig literally exposes the business, and he's found seconds later. Seriously, this family sucks at Hide & Seek! George bails and wants to grow some more sunflowers and they do as the narrator says it all to end the episode at 3:08. This was a fun episode, and better logic too as doing these types of episodes in open spaces helps a lot. *** 1/2 (70%).

The Rocket Ride: Short opens in the supermarket near the vending machines with Edmond Elephant riding the coin-operated rocket ship with Mummy Elephant supervising. Daddy Pig and George Pig enters as Edmond Elephant does his sciencey promo which sounds like he's watching reading sci-fi now. Edmond better be careful, that is when the believing in quackery usually starts and public education usually needs to step in. Daddy Pig has the bags and is wondering where Mummy Pig is, as George wants to go riding on the rocket ship. Daddy Pig decides to cosplay rocket ship with George for awhile and then sits George in the rocket ship. Daddy Pig brings out a coin and puts it in the machine. Rocket Ship ride rides for a while as Daddy Pig rings up Mummy Pig on the phone and we jump cut to Mummy Pig and Peppa Pig in the car in what might be the most bumpiest parking lot ever. Oh wait, it's the bumpiest boring road ever as they are in a traffic jam. Mr. Fox's van is shown along with the ice cream truck, just to give sexist Mr. Labodour a cameo. Other cameos: Gigi Gazelle, Doctor Pony (Pedro's dad who doesn't do console wars), Mummy Sheep Granddad Dog, and Mr. Bull blocking the road because his kink of digging up the road has flared up again. Peppa Pig loves this stop and go stuff from Mr. Bull, Mummy Pig not so much. Fifteen seconds after this, the car phone rings and Mummy Pig pushes the button and informs Daddy Pig that they are on the way, just some light road work. Yeah, I'll bet! Daddy Pig is cut off as George is bored, somehow getting off the ride. Daddy Pig is not amused, but he decides to let George go on another ride because we have to kill time in a three minute episode. Although in this case, it's understandable since Mummy Pig has not arrived yet.

Next up, the Leap Frog ride complete with Daddy Pig somehow putting in the coin in such a cocky fashion and not screwing it up at all. So far, the only entertainment I am getting from this. George and Peppa love the bouncy-bouncy, Daddy Pig is a good sport, Mummy Pig not so much. Next, the mini bus roundabout as the real car goes around the rotary. Cameos: Miss Rabbit in the party bus, Daddy Wolf driving public transit, Mummy Mole driving a taxi, Mummy Mouse, Mummy Sheep and I think Captain Dog. If it is Captain Dog, driving a car doesn't violate the stipulations of his retirement, so he's okay. Mummy Pig not so much, probably hating life now. Made worse by Peppa Pig being amused like a troll would. Jump cut back to George riding a coin-operated dinosaur, which is the same one as Mr. Dine-e-saur. I betcha that was the character's real name and not George pronouncing it wrong. Daddy Pig is amused, Mummy Pig not so much. Mummy and Peppa Pig make it to the supermarket without incident. Considering that they had a minute left, I was half expecting the barrier to cut the car in half. It didn't, sadly. The family meets and greets, but it's home time now as George in a rare moment for him is actually crying to get his own way. I have only seen this thrice from George. Peppa informs George that the car ride back home will be even better than the car rides. I betcha Mummy Pig was like "YOU TROLL~!" at this point. George automatically feels better about this and we repeat the spots from the car ride in reverse. HAHA! Daddy Pig, Peppa and George love it, Mummy Pig...you guessed it. The narrator says it all to end the episode at 2:55. Since they went home the same way and had to, George was going to win no matter what he did, so crying to get his own way was pointless. This was a fine episode, although Mummy Pig not liking this was funny. *** (60%).

Garage Games: Short opens at Granddad Dog's garage with Miss Rabbit driving the party bus while Mr. Bull and Granddad Dog wave near the petro tanks. Mr. Bull apparently is a mechanic now as the party bus leaves and Mr. Bull tells Miss Rabbit to watch out for potholes. I would watch out for invisible magical needles, too; if you know what I mean. In comes Mummy Pig driving and frowning at the same time, which would be worse than texting and driving, if you know what I mean. Peppa and George are in the backseat. Peppa proclaims that the car is broken and wants it replaced, but Mummy Pig wants it fixed, the second Mummy says that, Peppa is blushing and acting like she needs the toilet. Mr. Bull and Granddad Dog have their wrenches on the ready as this will take as long as it takes. Which in this show, about three minutes or less in real time. Who knows in Peppa Pig time?! By the way, the waiting room the family has to stay in is larger than the area used to be. Expansion has been slow to say the least as it's basically the doctor's office with a table of toys in the middle. There is a shelf of auto magazines and yes, magazines are just as good to read as reading a book. There is also a tea depenser with china cups ready for someone to have some tea. Mummy Pig walks stage right as Peppa and George go to the toys of course. Peppa claims that the model garage is exactly the same as Granddad Dog's garage even though it looks nothing like it. The other table contains balls, blocks and a toy repair box. Peppa opens the garage door to reveal a blue car behind the blue door. HAR HAR! Jump cut back to Mr. Bull trying to fix the real red car. I betcha the final spot is Mr. Bull breaking china cups in the garage because they have to repeat that gag, since Mr. Bull is supposed to be both dumber than Daddy Pig and more clueless and careless than Pedro F'N Pony. Mummy Sheep arrives and parks, I'm guessing she got into a car crash judging by the front. Mr. Bull is going to get burn out as we head back with Mummy Pig trying to make some tea and the thing is broken, this assuring the final spot will not be Mr. Bull shattering more china.

Peppa and George brings out a breakdown lorry and a tractor, along with a motorcycle. Peppa is amused, I'm not. Jump cut to Mr. Bull with oil all over him as in comes Mummy Polar Bear on a motorcycle and I believe the Peppa Pig Tales debut of Mrs. Badger on her tractor. If you cannot guess where this is going, you have no business reading this rant. The final car in the model garage is a green sports car as the narrator proclaims that the garage is getting busy as more cosplaying ensues. Jump cut back to Mr. Bull literally with the CHEAP HEAT OF LAUGHS as Daddy Giraffe arrives in a green racing car. The toolbox gets used during the cosplay back as there is a fixing and Peppa's attempt at a Granddad Dog voice is hideously hilarious here. Peppa cannot move the red car, so they make some space to move it. More cosplaying ensues as Mummy Pig finally gets the tea maker machine working enough to get enough drops to make a cup of tea and Mr. Bull comes in to inform Mummy Pig that the car is fixed before she can drink it. Damn! Everyone leaves as Mummy Pig is frowning again. She wanted that break so bad. Are you sure she didn't sabotage the car beforehand?! Anyhow, the red car is stuck in a literal parking car jam and Mr. Bull blushes, even though it's everyone else's fault for not parking their cars properly. Yes; it's a puzzle and we repeat the spot only with the real cars, with Granddad Dog and Mr. Bull driving them, so everyone else responsible has been written out by teleport. The car is in the clear as the family gets into the car and tries to drive stage left in victory...and then Miss Rabbit returns with FOUR FLAT TIRES~! She claims it's more potholes. SUZY SHEEP?! Hey, she claims it's all magic, so she must be putting magical tacks you cannot see the road. There's no way the party bus gets four flat tires on potholes. That's not possible! George's idea is to use a tow truck, which this show actually calls it, despite being a breakdown lorry in Britian. Granddad Dog brings in the tow truck, it tows the red car to the left and the car is in the clear! Mummy Pig drives away before Granddad Dog and Mr. Bull can force them back to solve the rest of the puzzle. The kids slap skin, and the narrator says it all to end the episode (and for this show, Series Three) at 3:13. Okay, this was a fun episode, mostly for the puzzle spots. *** 1/4 (65%).

Muddy Slide: Short opens with Peppa and George sliding down the steps on white pillows as the narrator explains the obvious to us. This is not working as Daddy Pig comes in questionning this silliness. They exchange notes and then down comes Mummy Pig putting her black boots on as she has her firefighter outfit. You see, she is going to the firefighter's service meeting as beside being a work at home mother who writes books, she is also a volunteer firefighter. I completely forgot that angle in the mainline additional commentary and I'll have to mention it at some point. Peppa explains that Daddy Pig is going to make a big slide on the hill, as Daddy Pig tries to weasel his way out of it, but Mummy Pig don't care and kisses abound. Mummy Pig leaves loving them and Daddy Pig decides to do it with glee. The family goes outside and rolls down sheets of blue padding. Peppa and George try to slide, but no go. Next up, Daddy Pig reveals a small container of washing up liquid. Is there a water use ban in this show that I'm not aware of? Plus, when he pours it, it's like the bottle has TARDIS powers and there is far more liquid coming out of it than it appears to be inside the bottle! Oh wait, Daddy Pig hoses down everything with water, my mistake. I don't see the point of the washing liquid since water would suffice either way. George and Peppa Pig slide down the hill and it ends with a muddy puddle. DING! Daddy Pig slides down in a giddy fashion and Peppa wants to do that again, because you always have the muddy puddle as the final spot and we still have 90 seconds left in the episode anyway. More sliding with toys and poses makes Gregory Weagle something something. The framerate seems to be intentionally set at 25 frames per second to make it slightly choppy. The slide is getting as muddy as everyone sliding on it, and then the family slides down the hill and cannot make it to the top anymore. Uh-oh! They overkilled it. In comes the fire engine with Mummy Pony driving, Mummy Sheep, Mummy Pig, Miss Rabbit and Mummy Dog. Everyone gets out as Mummy Pig is shocked and appalled by this, demanding answers to this outrage. They confuse stuck with duck for a while; but Miss Rabbit gets it and it's time for a legit rescue. HAHA! You know this is a very responsible community when this is considered the peak of bad behavior. Miss Rabbit brings down the retractable hose, the family grabs onto it and Miss Rabbit reels in the retractable hose, saving the day...For about ten seconds as Miss Rabbit cannot stop the cheeky retractable hose and everyone gets sprayed with water, pushed down the hill and into the muddy puddle. DING! Everyone is stuck, so they jump up and down in muddy puddles while the narrator says it all to end the episode at 3:02. Another awesome episode from Rebecca Hyland, as the slide backfired on everyone. And I do mean everyone; causing them all to do what they do best. DING! **** 1/4 (85%).

Experiments: Short opens as Peppa is mixing "chemicals" in some wacky beakers and test tubes dressed up as a scientist with goggles. Suzy Sheep and Pedro F'N Pony look on, dressed in the same lab coats, blue gloves and plastic goggles as Peppa. Also appearing is Danny Dog, Emily Elephant and Candy Cat along with Gigi Gazelle. Of course, Miss Rabbit in job #256 of this show is the head scientist at the science musuem. Miss Rabbit addresses the kids and then we head inside for science experiment #1: Building a bridge with sticks, blocks, toy cars and apparently, cellphone shells, each put in glass bowls. Could be worse, I guess. Danny thinks he's got it made with the sticks, but the sticks float in opposite directions. Did I mention that the bridge area is a tank filled with water with a green car and finish line on opposite sides?! Emily thinks she has got it made and throws blocks into the water, but they sink. Yes, the cellphone shells make the best bridge. As I discover, the shells are in fact soft foam Peppa uses, and the green car makes it across the makeshift bridge, no problem. Of course! Everyone cheers as Miss Rabbit says Eureka (7!! - Good thing Edmond isn't here, he would be a clever clogs to remember that show.) and of course Peppa mispronounces it. I don't get it, it's funnier when the toddler like George does it, but it gets sadder when you grow up. Anyhow, the other kids get it right, just to make Peppa look like a geek and we head into the next room for science experiment #2: Turning Gigi Gazelle green with envy as Gigi blushes pink on response using color circles. Hey, at least they are not lifting her off her feet in Simple Science. They are using color plastic circles, as they play color for a while, but wait. There is no circle that is green in color. But wait?! They have the colors needed to create green, ala in Painting from Series Two: blue and yellow; which Emily and Pedro have. Eureka (7!)! Miss Rabbit is impressed as we head to science experiment #3 and the final one of the day: Which slide is the fastest. We have groups of two: Peppa/Suzy (Of course!) choose the grass slide as they slide down....slowly...down the slide on a burlap sack. The second one in the middle is literally that sack (the fabric slide), and the third one is a shiny purple. Pedro/Emily choose the fabric slide and I think they go down even slower than the grass slide. Candy/Danny choose the purple slide and they race down so fast that they win without any effort. What a cheap victory for Danny Dog, eh?! Everyone cheers "eureka (7!!)", but Pedro/Emily are stucker on the slide than Daddy Pig on the slide and you can hear him laugh all the way to the bank on that one. Miss Rabbit calls this experimenting, the adults help Pedro and Emily off the slide and the narrator says it all to end the episode at 3:07. Not as great as Simple Science, but the Cleveland Notes version is really good. *** 3/4 (75%).

Super Peppa: Short opens BEFORE HAPPY HOUR (sunset) as Peppa and the gangs are dressed up like superheroes. In other words, like Pedro F'N Pony; which I should have seen coming from a long time ago. Suzy Sheep and Danny Dog join the group as Suzy Sheep is the strong woman of the group, Pedro is the storm of the group, Peppa is the leader and Danny Dog is the lightning of the group, which means he'll be the geek of the group by default. They fly down to the stump in the park as we return to reality (no, not really) because they are actually cosplaying superheroes. Of course! What a fool I am?! It would have been so much funnier if this were "real" (in storyline). Daddy Pig and George Pig are setting up the picnic area as Daddy Pig is doing their catchphrases like a heel thief. Suzy Sheep is the strong person and can barely break a twig. Like a lot of professional wrestlers these days. Peppa is the flying pig and jumps down from the stump. Pffttt, whatever. Pedro blows a leaf because he controls the wind and so far he's the only one who is not remotely a geek as Danny Dog is huffing and puffing while running because he's the Flash of the group. Which is fitting becuase Flash was also the biggest geek of the DC superheroes. How do I know Danny is a geek? Because Pedro has to hold him in order to not fall on his ass. Daddy Pig wraps up the cloth as he's amused. We hear a croaking sound as the cosplaying fools calls themselves the Very Excellent Superheroes, or VESH. It's the ducks who don't need help; but the cosplayers have to do something to kill time in a three minute episode. Pedro blows his wind and splashes some water as the ducks swim to the middle and that is that. Suzy Sheep finds a cave and frees a bunch of birds from a bunch of rocks in real life. Pffft, whatever. Oh my goodness, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO~! Daddy Pig fed the birds after BS&P told them not too! Sod off Daddy Pig, you sick anthromorphic pig! The last thing anyone needs is for these birds to steal Peppa's boots...AGAIN! This is worse than George Pig stuffing Mr. Dine-e-saur in his pants! Peppa thinks George's soccer ball is in a tree. By the way: Spotty Ball is better than Foot Ball. I'm just saying, show.

Peppa grabs the soccer ball in real life as George is in awe, because Peppa in imagination land can fly like Superman. Pfft, whatever. I'm so pissed off now, I thought BS&P would stop anyone from feeding the birds, but I was wrong. In comes Danny Dog with four ice cream cones running as fast as he can. Careful Danny Dog, you could get blown up and not be able to fight Evil Daddy Pig...Ooops, I did it again! I spoiled the whole plot. POW! OUCH! Ummmm... Danny gives ice cream to Mr. Rabbit and Mrs. Cow, while missing Mandy Mouse and Gigi Gazelle, who are members of the Playgroup. Thankfully, Danny comes back with more ice cream with Mummy Zebra, Candy Cat, and Mummy and Daddy Giraffe. This is the most random cameos ever! Richard Rabbit drops ice cream and teases bawling...and doesn't do it. Danny bails with the ice cream cone, brings him another one. Of course, Danny is not making ice cream, he's just helping Miss Rabbit in Job #310. Hey, at least Danny is making it easier for Miss Rabbit to do her job today. Mummy Elephant, Granddad Dog and Mr. Bull are paying customers here. The heroes all slap skin as Daddy Pig wants to go home. Peppa doesn't, so she imagines Daddy Pig as Baddie Pig. Of course, the heel Daddy Pig has to have the GOATEE OF SATAN, just to inform you that Baddie Pig is EVIIILLLLLL~! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! (Indeed!) POW! OUCH! Ummmm... Yeah, what is this episode doing to me?! Peppa and company decide to work together in imagination world as Peppa and Danny distract Baddie Pig while Pedro blows wind in order to make Baddie Pig fall on his ass and back since the leaves hit Baddie Pig's glasses, and than Suzy grabs a giant rock and throws it on the cape, trapping Baddie Pig. This is the most amusing fake villain fight ever. Mr. Bull and George walk by as the cosplaying version of this fight is far funnier than the imagination world one. No one gives two shits about this and George gets on Daddy Pig's belly not amused by this. George then stops frowning and everyone cheers. Danny gets more ice cream from Miss Rabbit because Daddy Pig was so impressed by this, that they deserve ice cream. The narrator says it all to end the episode at 3:07. A fun episode, but those biologists are going to be pissed off by Daddy Pig feeding animals he shouldn't be feeding. *** 1/4 (65%).

Very French Breakfast: Short opens in an elevator in Paris, France as Peppa, George, Mummy Pig and Daddy Pig come out in their French formal gear. Peppa is wearing a beret while Daddy Pig is wearing a large ascot, with George looking like he's ready to rob a bank. Somehow, they are literally on the Eiffel Tower having breakfast. I should note that there is a simulated version of this in Las Vegas, Nevada; and this is a real thing at the real Eiffel Tower. Even if this is a fictional story, this idea is real in real life. Madame Lapin shows up in a waiter's uniform with menus as the family sits down for the Petit-Dejeuner. Breakfast in French everyone, as the narrator is not confused while Daddy Pig is. Earth to Daddy Pig: That ascot doesn't make you Freddy Jones, and thankfully not Ken Izumi either. Worse, Mummy Pig's French is actually rusty and trying to get Daddy Pig's help is just daring trouble at this point. Madame Lapin bails and returns with the accordion to play some music for a while. Peppa wants to know what traditionnelle is and Daddy Pig calls it classical. While techincially correct, it's traditional in French, and has a masucline and feminine version of the word (the masucline word is traditionnel). Peppa sings the FRENCH TEDDY RUXPIN SONG OF DOOM while dancing as a waiter who looks like the French version of Mr. Hyrax arrives with tea, coffee, and two orange juice drinks. Madame Lapin talks about chocolate for a while and Mummy Pig just plays along. At least Peppa can pronounce merci (thank you in French) properly, considering her English pronouncations are completely whack in Peppa Pig Tales. Daddy Pig drinks some tea and now he sounds like Inspector Gadget. It's actually strong coffee espresso, thus must be drank slowly in small portions.

Monsieur Daman (Hyrax in French) returns with more coffee in small tea cups and Daddy Pig has another one. Madame Lapin returns with a basket of bagettes and a jar of strawberry jam (confiture de fraise in France) and we spread jam and make a mess, while tasting the tastes of France, which this tastes oddly Canadian as well. One of the green birds steals a slice of bagette and drops it over the tower. Okay, as much as this isn't a good look, animals stealing food and eating it themselves I can tolerate. The wanton willfully feeding that animals pisses me off. Madam Lapin says "sacre bleu" which in French means Holy Blue! Not "damn it" or "Holy God" which is sacre dieu. It's swearing in DUBBED ANIME STYLE, not outright swearing. "Holy" has been used in TaleSpin before. In comes Monsieur Daman with crossiants and chocolate bread (Pain au Chocolat in French) in baskets. It's basically a pastry with chocolate in the middle. Peppa's bad pronouncation has now expanded to French words. So, the family messes their faces for a while before the next round of entertainment comes from Monsieur Taureau (Mr. Bill in French) dressed up like a mimer (Mime in French) wearing a red beret and white gloves. Taureau mimes stuff for a while which is going down and up the invisible stairs and then copies Daddy Pig having coffee for a while. Everyone laughs as Daddy Pig does funny faces and noises, just to set up the mimer to copy it. That was funny. Then it becomes less funny as Daddy Pig has an upset tummy and needs the toilette, which is toilet in French which Daddy Pig actually pronounces properly. Character development! Or maybe not. Madame Lapin actually asks if he had too much caffeine. By the way, if you want to piss off the naturalists, tell them that caffeine is a natural chemical and not man made. Daddy Pig, Madam Lapin and Monsieur Taureau are running into the elevator because Taureau is copying everything despite not having any caffeine in his system. Clown! The narrator says it all as the family waves Daddy Pig on the slowest elevator ever to end the episode at 3:08. Another instant classique from Rebecca Hyland. Yeah, I'm done with the French references. *** 3/4 (75%).

THE REVIEW LINE

Well, just the usual fun episodes with Muddy Slide being the best with Very French Breakfast and Experiments coming close. Muddy Slide was a funny concept that backfires on everyone, Experiments was Simple Science without the grace of Daddy Pig wading into concrete and Very French Breakfast was a really good episode with a mime who copies Daddy Pig. It's fitting that it's the French Mr. Bull since Mr. Bull and Daddy Pig are the two dumbest adults in this show in general. Super Peppa deserves special mention only because I thought this show knew better at this point to never feed legit animals, but I was wrong and the next episode after that came dangerously close. Also, the second LEGO Peppa Pig episode was much better due to the fact that the episode was filmed in a bigger, much more open space and thus the spots didn't expose the business like the first episode. Overall, a decent batch of shorts as we head into Series 4 of Peppa Pig Tales without signs of slowing down. So...

Thumbs up for Muddy Slide, thumbs in the middle for the rest , and I'll see you all next time.
