Peppa Pig Tales #21 Rant
Reviewed: 08/16/2024
Old School Peppa Pig Is Back! Sort of Part 21!
Well, since Peppa Pig the series has been slowing down and there's only four episodes left in the pot, I was going to resume TaleSpin work this year. An easy series that gives me great joy in terms of mockery and enjoyment. There is still lots let to do before I can finally wrap that show up. Sadly, TaleSpin has been delayed until at least 2025, because my second love and enjoyment decided to really run interference on me. How so you ask? Welcome to the Rant Shack: Peppa Pig Tales! And after the very first episode, I cannot resist and I'm going to rant on these "shorts" because Baby Alexander is back and creating a lot more questions than answers. (March 2023 Gregory Weagle Says: Hold it! I have just gotten word that there is no problems with Uncle and Auntie Pig and the family is getting along just fine. You'll see the evidence in Baby Bumps. Only one missing is Cousin Chole now.) Peppa Pig Tales is a series of short 3-3 1/2 minute episodes (Literally up to 75% of an average "Peppasode".) of Peppa Pig doing stuff without the original voices or creators with most of the "filler" cut out. That's basically it. It is awkward listening to this when you are so used to seeing the show, however; it is basically the same in term of premise. So, I'll be doing eight episodes per block like I always do until this series gets sick and tired of this and goes back to the actual Peppa Pig series which has reached eight series up to this point. How do these episodes fare? Let's rant on shall we..?!
Editor's Note: I will no longer be revealing which episodes were done by whomever, since my video source keeps cutting off the EDs and it's basically the same six to seven writers anyway.
Opening Moment #1: LEGO PEPPA IS BACK~! That's all you need to know.
Sandy Island: Short opens on Grandpa Pig's boat which is narrow enough for George and Peppa to chase each other on the high CGI seas with Grandpa Pig attending the wheel. Somehow, they bonk into Grandpa Pig and break the wheel. Somehow, it easily can be reattached without effort. A fish jumps up and down into the water. A school of fish skips the ocean water for a while and then a whale, the smallest whale ever as Grandpa Pig explains it. We land on a desert island, the most circular island with no hill volume to be found. Yes, the blocks are sand and they build with them, why do you ask?! The team brings in some poles, a shovel and a bucket, but Grandpa Pig stops them. Why?! Because he brings out a big ass block of sun cream to play in the sun with. The sun cream application is hilarious to say the least because there is no sun cream to be seen. Although I do give them credit for not going to the eyes. That would have sucked. Peppa and George build LEGO sandcastles for a while as the narrator narrates. The sides of the castle look fine, but something is missing from the top as Grandpa Pig in roundabout terms suggests a flag. Peppa gets it and it's a lime green flag that is bigger than any character on this show. The kids cheers, whatever. After praising the kids for teamwork, they make some sunshade out of that white pole, the red umberlla tree and the red block for a base. Seriously, this is all they do, it's not a large deal nor anything of note. Their pushing techinque was hilarious if nothing else. Scene change to the kids underneath the umbrella tree as Grandpa Pig supervises. Peppa is happy for the shade as speaking of magic, Grandpa Pig brings out vanilla ice cream with purple cones and bases. Yeah, whatever. George loves double the ice cream, Grandpa Pig don't care about having one. The narrator says it all as the sun sets slowly while the whales show up to say hello to end the episode at 3:08. This was just an episode and one of the shortest reviews ever. ** 1/2 (50%).
Surf 'n' Skate: Short opens with Simon Squirrel and Belinda Bear skateboaring on a ramp with the kids and adults in awe of them. It's been ages since I have seen Simon and Belinda get sort of wrecked during the disco rollerskating event! It's also been a while since I saw Captain Dog without his hat. Other kids: Peppa Pig, George Pig, Danny Dog, Zoe Zebra and Mandy Mouse. Other adults: Mummy Pig, Daddy Pig, Daddy Zebra and Mummy "I can be scary, honest!" Mouse. Only Peppa has a helmet and her skateboard, so she's probably joining the big kids on this competition. Or not, because Daddy Pig cuts her off because she's too young to try out the big ramp. Peppa is protesting like Kit Cloudkicker and unlike Kit, she maybe the star but doesn't have the chops and demonstrates that she cannot ride a skateboard properly on flat ground. Mummy Pig suggests something else and Peppa relents, cutting a promo on the big ramp for good measure, just to be Peppa. Peppa drives the skateboard with George on it as we see that the special sporting event actually an extreme sports funfair. There's a rollerskating rink handled by Doctor "I don't do console wars" Pony. There is a surfboarding demonstration with Gerald Giraffe talking to Mummy Polar Bear. There is Mummy Elephant (in full winter gear during the summer mind you, and probably stole Daddy Pig's hat, scarf and gloves to boot!) showing off the skiing demonstration to Molly Mole and Candy Cat. Then we get the wave pool of doom with Zoe Zebra and Danny Dog on surfboards surfing the I believe is real water waves. Miss Rabbit (Job #455) is supervising. Peppa wants to go, but remember that she needs an adult since she's only four, so Mummy Pig is dragged into this. HAHA!
Mummy Pig is not sure about this as Miss Rabbit gives instructions and tips. Peppa thinks she's done it, but Mummy Pig does a better job of standing up and surfing. Both falls on their asses into the pool within seconds, Kit Cloudkicker is laughing all the way to the bank on this one. Molly Cunningham too. Which age?! Doesn't matter! They try again and they fail again within seconds, only this time Daddy and George get splooshed. I was half expecting George to bawl his eyes out, but this is Series Four, so he giggles instead. More trying and Peppa wisely decides to not stand up, but Mummy Pig is the geek of the week by standing up again and failing, again! The males all cheer, because they have no shame. Peppa then stands up and falls into the drink, again. Although to be fair, Peppa was distracted by something when she was standing up. Mummy Pig has zero excuse. Mr. Bull is demonstrating the wobble board which we saw earlier with Simon Squirrel on the board and Belinda Bear watching on, among all the other kids and adults. You know Mr. Bull is dumber than Daddy Pig when DADDY PIG has to give Mr. Bull the punchline word and Mr. Bull lacks complete self-awareness of it all. Simon falls off and Peppa wants a go, Mr. Bull allows it and Daddy Pig doesn't cut anyone off. Peppa gets on board with a helmet on (but got rid of the kneepads) as Mr. Bull pushes a red button on a remote controller and it's wibbly-wobbly time! Peppa then remembers Miss Rabbit's suggestion of staying down and does it. CHEAT TO WIN~! No, not really. Everyone pops for her, becuase she's the star and everyone is a geek. She lasted ten seconds before bouncing off the board and Mr. Bull declares it a new record. Of course! Mr. Bull helps Peppa out of the pit, the Pig family reunites and the narrator says it all to end the episode at 3:01. Very fun episode and this record will likely be broken in about ten seconds flat by Belinda Bear. *** 3/4 (75%).
Iced Lolly Surprise: Short opens with Mummy Zebra and Zoe Zebra in awe of a fruit wheel of morality, turn, turn, turn. See which fruit gets moralized in turn! One of these fruits is not like the others, one of these fruits is not a fruit. Can you guess which "fruit" it is before the episode is over? Now it's time to play our game...POW! OUCH! Unmmm...Yeah, that idea sucked. It's brain freeze day in the world of Peppa Pig as Miss Rabbit is vending an ice shaving cone stand in Job #444. That's triple death to me. Apparently, these cones are ice lollies now even though it's clearly not an ice lolly. Zoe has got a strawberry ice shaving lolly...Oh, who cares?! When Zoe and Mummy Zebra walk away stage left with the lolly, we see Mr. Bull sleeping in the sun in his underwear. Suzy Sheep and Pedro F'N Pony are squirting water guns at each other, probably one of the few times guns got pulled out on this brand, none of them bullet shooting. This is a pre-school show! What did you expect?! Mr Fox is having a real ice lolly in an irony of ironies. There is a conveniently placed muddy puddle as Peppa comes in complete with a frowny face. I don't know why, I thought she liked muddy puddles and even has her boots on. Oh wait, the muddy puddles are hard and there's no jumping to be had, because it's a hot day, you see. George, Daddy and Mummy Pig also join in as Mr. Zebra gets a lemon ice lolly and I am mistaken: the thing Mr. Fox has was a bottle of sun cream. Damn it! Perfect sight gag, and the creators didn't go for it. Peppa wants an ice lolly and everyone agrees to it because there's nothing else to do in this episode today, other than sunbathe. By the way, the cameos for this are: Mummy Elephant, Granddad Dog, Doctor Pony, Emily Elephant, Danny Dog and Rebecca Rabbit. Miss Rabbit proclaims that you can choose a flavor, or spin the wheel for a random flavor.
Pedro goes first on the wheel and spins it to get a banana flavor ice lolly. Pedro don't care and likes it. Peppa is second and she gets a chocolate ice lolly. Probably the only time you see chocolate and it's not actual ice cream. Danny Dog gets in the middle and gets half lemon/half raspberry. It's a Wuzzle Ice Lolly~! Suzy Sheep is next and asks if she has to spin the wheel. The answer is no as Miss Rabbit said earlier, but the kids all gasp in horror because Suzy hates randomness, or something. Suzy wants a sure thing, methinks and the kids are going to peer pressure her to pick otherwise. I check the video... Actually, Miss Rabbit agrees with her decision to pick chocolate, but Miss Rabbit is out of chocolate. Uh-oh! But wait?! Peppa decides to give Suzy her ice lolly instead. Wow! I didn't see that one coming. The adults approve and then kids just exchange ice lollies for fun. This is so great. Apparently, more ice lollies come in via teleport. SUZY SHEEP~?! I knew she was up to no good. In other words, I think running out of chocolate sounds extremely sus if you know what I mean. More proof that Suzy Sheep is a witch: Miss Rabbit spins the wheel and the wheel breaks from the post and rolls stage left. Okay, now Suzy is being a troll here. Miss Rabbit bails and it's the SCOOBY DOO RUNNING SEQUENCE THE ICE LOLLY WHEEL EDITION~! Damn, it's been ages since I pulled that joke out of the mothballs. Officer "Why does this show hate my kids?!" thinks Miss Rabbit is speeding and tries to give chase, but stops because he's too hot. Miss Rabbit is back with the wheel blushing like mad. She puts the wheel up, and all the kids offer her their ice lollies. Sadly, they have all melted, so let's make more! Spin the wheel, make the deal and the narrator says it all to end the episode at 3:08. I loved this episode because I was expecting some bullying and none happened. This was an almost perfect episode, outside of some logic breaks. **** 1/2 (90%).
Blowup Splash Course: Short opens with Zoe Zebra and Pedro F'N Pony diving into the pool of water with their swimming costumes and lifejackets. In comes Mummy Pig, Mummy Elephant, Peppa Pig and Emily Elephant as the narrator explains the obvious to us. It's basically a water park, which might as well be an outdoor version of a Sportsplex. There is a water obstacle course with more sinkers and floater than a most extreme elimination challenge. Miss Rabbit (Job #777) is the lifeguard of this operation of course. Peppa is excited for this splashie stuff; but Emily Elephant, not so much. Miss Rabbit give them lifejacket, so they can be safe. Mr. Bull of course decides that Mrs. Vandersnoot is his hero in dressing Oscar Vandersnoot for this, complete with a flamingo floatation device. Mr. Bull is dumber than Daddy Pig, and engages in extreme overkill. Mr. Bull skips away stage right, everyone giggles and Peppa snorts. We start with the very purple and very wobbly bridge and Emily is already not liking this the spilt second the narrator finishes his promo. Maybe the narrator should shut the hell up, because he is clearly scaring Emily to death here. Peppa walks across the very rainbowie but not so wobblie bridge and she loses her balance, falls into the drink. Peppa floats because that is what a lifejacket is for. Safety! Peppa swims back to tell Emily that this is very fun, Emily thinks it's something else. Something about wobblie! Yes, I'm switching the "y"'s with "ie"'s at random. I'm trying to make this as entertaining as possible. Emily is so scared that she actually makes it to the very green and very wobbly platform. See, being scared works. Being cocky like Peppa isn't. Peppa swims and they embrace in victory. Peppa should have been made to walk the bridge again and succeed, since we have to somehow kill time in a three minute episode. Next up, the banana yellow inflatable wall with a blue climbing rope.
Peppa climbs the yellow part like a cocky fool and slides down because it's slippery despite the rope clearly being there! She's becoming like Daddy Pig now. That's horrifying. Miss Rabbit shows off the rope and Peppa climbs up to the top with ease and slides down the slide onto a green wobbly platform. The mummies look on and cheer. Emily climbs up and she's not feeling it. Then she covers her face with her trunk and it now afraid of heights. Wow! Maybe the first time a female got the gimmick on this show at least. Peppa tells Emily to slide on her bum and demonstrates it. Yes, Peppa said bum. I hope she never finds out about Bum Simulator because in that context, it's not what you think and you'll regret it for the rest of your life. Spoiler: It's slang for homeless people. Yeah. Emily slides down and everyone pops. Last up, is the bouncy balls edition of sinkers and floaters, something out of a wipe out show. Somehow, Zoe Zebra has joined us out of nowhere. SUZY...Oh wait, this makes sense. Sorry, Suzy; you are safe. For now! Zoe bounces off the balls and falls into the drink. Peppa decides to stop being cocky, and take it slowly. Doesn't matter, Peppa bounces and falls into the water after the second last ball. Emily's turn as she decides to channel people who listen to Michael Pachter: Just do the opposite of Peppa and go fast. Emily does and makes it to the cyan blue slide with ease! Yes, Peppa Pig is now Michael Pachter. That's horrifying infinitie~! Peppa and Emily cheer and dance on top of the cyan blue inflatable slidie. That one is for George, who is absent in this episode, along with Daddy Pig. Emily and Peppa get out of the pool, the mummies cheer as Mr. Bull is on the cyan blue slide and he's scared despite all the protection. GEEK OF THE WEEK~! Everyone cheers him on as Mr. Bull goes down the slide and splashes everyone to end the episode at 3:17. This was a really entertaining episode as Peppa said "bum" and the episode title said "blowup". That's all you need to know on why this episode was fun. **** (80%).
Bad Mitten: Short opens on the badminton courts with Daddy Pig wearing a lot of green and biege clothes with a headband as he does a slow motion spot of hitting the shuttle cock with the bandminton racquet. He lands on his back with the Pig family watching on as he says hello. His opposition of the day is Doctor Pony, who decides to honor Gedo's fashion sense with a lot of banana yellow colors on his clothes. Apparently, this is a doubles affair with Mr. Bull as Doctor Pony's partner. The shuttle cock falls in and Daddy Pig wins the point. Daddy Pig's partner is Daddy Zebra by the way. Peppa and George hug Daddy as Peppa takes a racquet and asks what is "bat-mitten". Daddy Pig explains it like a sciency guy and Peppa Pig asks "Is it like tennis?". Daddy Pig responds "yes", except they use a shuttle cock instead of a ball and shuttle cocks do not bounce like balls, so the "one bounce per half court" rule is officially out. You gotta to keep it in the air at all times. Daddy Pig decides to play practice with Peppa and Peppa doesn't even know how to hit a ball, much less a shuttle cock. Peppa didn't even try to swing the racquet and the cock falls onto the ground for the easy point. George enters to make it two against one, advantage kids. Daddy Pig don't care about this obvious cheating as Peppa tries again and this time, hit the cock properly. George tries to hit it on the rebound after Daddy Pig whacks the cock back, but George falls on his face on a shot that experts would have difficulty hitting. Peppa idea to counter this is to have Mummy Pig in as it's now three against one. Daddy Pig don't care about gender nor numbers, he's an expert badmintion player. And he still wins the point anyway. Daddy Pig is so cocky as Peppa complains about the court being too big, so Daddy Pig allows Peppa to add as many as she likes.
Yup, let's add Mr. Bull, Mr. Zebra and Doctor Pony and make it SIX ON ONE~! Now Daddy Pig regrets it; but at least he blamed himself for this gaffe. Also, he doesn't quit as Zoe Zebra and Pedro F'N Pony are in the background. Somehow, despite being outgunned SIX TO ONE, Daddy Pig still wins! Peppa doesn't quit cheating and it's Zoe Zebra and Pedro Pony's turn to make it EIGHT ON ONE~! Daddy Pig don't care and he still wins! No one quitting on either side as Miss Rabbit in black clothes joins in to make it NINE ON ONE! Now the numbers game is actually working againest the cheaters side since they cannot get out of the way of each other and Daddy Pig still wins! More join in as Officer Panda, Mummy Zebra, Mummy Pony, Mr. Fox, Captain Dog and Mummy Giraffe join in to make it FOURTEEN ON ONE, the same amount of kids who cheated against Doctor Elephant in the puddle jumping contest in The Golden Boots. Daddy Pig is blushing, and he's tired. He was Scott Hall VS. 14 Chris Benoits. Bless Daddy Pig's heart, he worked and worked and worked this contest...and despite all of this, Daddy Pig still won! Then we get the best moment ever: Daddy Pig is flat on his back -- nice touch with Miss Rabbit using a yellow feather duster to rebound the cock --, he actually gives up, but still hits the shuttle cock, it falls on the other side of the floor and Daddy Pig still wins. Daddy Pig cannot believe this happened. This is the best episode in Peppa Pig Tales by a mile! I think it's time for the cheaters to quit, you are not beating Daddy Pig on this day. Everyone pops, Daddy Pig hugs Peppa and the narrator says it all to end the episode at 3:07. You know what this episode is getting. ***** (100%).
Sushi Train: Short opens with a shot of a model white bullet train with sushi on top, just to point out that today's episode is Peppa Pig and the family going to a sushi resturant and having Japanese food for once. The family sits down at a table which contains a box of chopsticks, and a computer touch screen where you can select your fruit juices. The narrator explains the obvious as Mr. Bull and Doctor Hamster are eating and making small talk on the table to the far left. Peppa thinks this store is closed, despite the fact that Doctor Hamster and Mr. Bull have already been served. Mummy Pig points out that they get the food from the model train. There is a lot of choo-choo noises coming despite this being a bullet train. Mummy Pig uses the touch screen and of course, the touch screen will not work. She pushes too hard on said screen and orders seventeen fruit juices, Daddy Pig is questioning this. That touch screen computer and Mummy Pig look a bit sus to me. Speaking of sus, Peppa and George are picking bowls at random, because of the plate's color while Daddy Pig is not thrilled about this because he's no ATM Eric, if you know what I mean. Daddy Pig puts about three plates back on the train and that is that as Peppa waves farewell to the train. Mummy Pig and Daddy Pig bring out the chopsticks as Peppa is confused. Mummy Pig explains the chopsticks, which the children use what is basically dividers colored red and green and accented on top with flowers and stars. Mummy and Daddy Pig open their bowls and these two cannot use chopsticks to save their lives, making them the geeks of the week! Mummy Pig manages to unintentionally flick one of the food items onto Daddy Pig's head. George uses the dividers and feeds Daddy Pig, just to make Daddy look like a bigger geek.
Peppa and George are doing fine with the dividers as Mummy Pig brings out her phone to take a picture of their resturant misadventures to give to Grandpa Pig and Granny Pig, but the phone is flicked onto the bullet train! The adults are clearly having a contest to see who can out geek themselves at this point. Daddy Pig tries to get the phone with his chopsticks, but almost gets it before it lands on the train again. Mummy Pig is still the biggest geek of the episode so far. If Daddy Pig had used the dividers, he probably would have been a bigger geek, or got the phone back. The Pig adults run as we are getting footage from the phone of them running and apologizing a lot more than any Canadian on the planet. They head inside where the cooks are making the sushi, with Not Daddy Cat, Mummy Mole and Daddy Wolf. I would say there were more, but Daddy Wolf grabs the phone and it turns off. Jump cut back to the tables as Mummy Pig and Daddy Pig are blushing like they run out as if the Big Bad Wolf was chasing them. Oh wait... The adults sit down panting and decide to wait until the chefs find it. They begin to eat as Peppa gets more plates of sushi and one of them is a sushi roll that has the convenient cellphone wrapped just for Mummy Pig to open up. HAHA! Everyone is thirsty and right on cue, the drinks arrive on the bullet train, all peach colored. Everyone takes their drinks as the narrator says it all to end the episode at 3:05. A fun episode once the phone got involved, but it still had to follow Bad Mitten and it just couldn't follow that banger. *** 1/4 (65%).
Baby Food: Short opens in the kitchen as there is a mess of red, yellow and green food splattered across the room as Peppa, George and Mummy Pig are doing a desperate cleanup that doesn't work. The culprit: Baby Alexander in his chair spraying a bowl of red sauce while laughing it's ass off. He likes playing with his food and not eating it, no matter what Peppa tells him. Mummy Pig says it all while also being amused. I've never seen Baby Alexander this messy today, the baby must be in a real good mood today to cause this much chaos and mess. Tom Bevel would have probably laughed this one out of the building and so would I. Mummy Pig touches Peppa's nose and claims that Peppa was the same, which Peppa denies it of course. I probably was much worse than Baby Alexander when I was a baby, but I remember exactly less than one percent in those days, so I'm not the one to talk about it. George is way too excited and BA is just making the place into a bigger laughable crime scene of blood splatter than it already is. Daddy Pig enters and dodges splatter, which surprises me. I thought he would get hit and it wouldn't make him look dumb. Daddy Pig walks in and does the aeroplane spoon of doom onto Baby Alexander and Baby Alexander actually eats it. Baby Alexander is like "HA!" and splatters Daddy Pig with what might as well be fake blood all over him, making him the geek of the week! Mummy Pig uses a green cupboard door as a shield I should point out. Daddy Pig isn't laughing, but everyone else does as George does the backsplash laugh way too soon. Daddy Pig bails for cleaning and repairs as Peppa brings out Teddy out of nowhere (!!!) and decides to let it make small talk with Baby Alexander. Mummy Pig is questioning this idea as it's the teddy bear's picnic method of feeding.
Baby Alexander than spits red liquid and it lands on the returning Daddy Pig and his shirt. Oh come on, now! That has to be a troll move. By Peppa or by Baby Alexander?! Does it matter?! Ummmmm, nope! Mummy Pig attends to Daddy Pig with the cloth as Peppa brings out three glass jars containing colored food, and Baby Alexander chooses the green one. More feeding as Baby Alexander pushes the yellow food jar onto the table. Luckly, it doesn't break since one of the baskets saved it. Peppa gets inspired and does the shell game for a while. Mummy Pig sucks because she chooses the one on the far left before Baby Alexander does, but Baby Alexander sees the far right one, and that's where the red jar of food was. Mummy Pig joins Daddy Pig as the geek of the week. Even more troubling, since Mummy Pig got outwitted by a baby as Mummy Pig blushes, telling you she clearly got it wrong. More feeding and Baby Alexander does a backfist of the spoon and the spoon lands in the sink. Daddy Pig goes to the cupboard and brings out a magic spoon. Ah, so he admits that science doesn't exist in this world. For shame, Daddy Pig, for shame. Daddy Pig feeds Baby Alexander with yellow food and now it's time for Baby Alexander to determine which one he likes best. Baby Alexander is so excited, his feet touches all three jars. That was a bit gross, and so he likes all three. Peppa feeds Baby Alexander all three with George helping her feed. Mummy Pig and Peppa tickle Baby Alexander on the chin as the narrator says it all. Daddy Pig and Mummy Pig sum it up as they all give Baby Alexander love and affection to end the episode at 3:06. I loved this episode as Baby Alexander brought the mess and Peppa did a great job calming him down. Another banger from Rebecca Hyland, too. **** (80%).
Opening Moment #1: LEGO PEPPA RETURNS~! That's all you need to know!
Splash Battle: Short opens in the garden with Daddy and Mummy Pig are tending to the flowers. Mummy Pig assembling the flowers like LEGO blocks, that was funny. Daddy Pig waters the flowers, when Peppa and George comes out giving the adults a shock. Everyone has a hearty laugh as Peppa and George run around the garden for a while. Peppa and George hop in muddy puddles as they try to spray mud on Daddy Pig's face, which fails because the effects teleport out before they even hit Daddy Pig. SUZY SHEEP~?! I'm sorry; but that's my new tag line for a logic break, because it's magic, you see. Peppa apologizes and bonks into Mummy Pig who bonks into the flower seeds. The seeds fall onto the ground and Mummy Pig had had enough. Mummy Pig says this in the most gleefullyish happy voice ever and then the chase is on. Scooby-Doo Chase Sequence The Mummy Pig Edition as Daddy Pig is forced to dodge them and get more mud that doesn't register on Daddy Pig, but Daddy Pig sells it anyway. This leads to everyone bonking into pink flowers and causing a giant smokescreen (!!!). After that clears, everyone is sitting on their asses laughing. Mummy Pig gets up and reassembles the sunflower because it's all LEGO blocks and thus easy to fix with some assembly, so to speak unlike real flowers. Daddy Pig annoys me by claiming that this is an accident and then uses the watering can and sprays more water on Mummy Pig then Richard Rabbit ever did, calling this an "accident". That amused me because Daddy Pig clearly was ironically calling it such. He knows that these things are predictable and preventable. The kids are laughing their asses off and Mummy Pig walks away saying that Daddy Pig has done it now, in the happiest voice ever, to assure the audience that she is not mad with Daddy Pig at all. Daddy Pig is so dumb that he thinks Mummy Pig is being serious and this relationship is on the rock. GEEK OF THE WEEK~! Daddy Pig decides to just continue planting seeds in the garden as giggling ensues. Daddy Pig is so cooked now it isn't funny. Daddy Pig waters the plants as he notices Peppa and George giggling in the open tree house of doom. Daddy Pig wants answers to this outrage and out comes Mummy Pig with a spray gun connected to a hose. Yup, Daddy Pig is cooked, baked and broiled, he might as well be steamed and BBQ'ed. Daddy Pig begs for mercy, he'll get none as Daddy Pig gets sprayed, which the splash damages hits the kids. Kids don't care, they jump down and bring cyan blue water buckets. Basically, everyone splashes each other with water, George does the old heel routine of raining water down on Mummy Pig from the tree house. More water splashing as this causes flowers in different colors to appear. No, I am not going to that gag twice in one episode. Daddy Pig uses a soil LEGO block to deflect the water and that destroys the roof of the treehouse. Somehow. The garden is alive as everyone tidys up and the narrator says it all to end the episode at 3:08. I honestly love this episode due to everyone just out for blood when it comes to water splashing. *** 3/4 (75%).
THE REVIEW LINE
Well, a really good set of shorts in this one. Splash Battle might be the best LEGO episode thus far as they just let everyone have fun and it was really great inspite of the limitations of the stop-motion LEGO animation. It was far more entertaining than Sandy Island, which was just Pirate Island without much of the charm and was merely just okay. Baby Food was one of the best Baby Alexander episodes because Baby Alexander was really on his best behavior in this episode: Lots of mess, little crying; and Peppa did a great job in calming the baby down as well. Iced Lolly Surprise was great due to the anti-bullying stuff and them sharing their ice lollies together was really good. Blowup Splash Course was also a neat story about Emily Elephant overcoming her fear of the water and Mr. Bull overcoming his overprotection of said water. Surf 'n' Skate was another good one, but Bad Mitten was the best Peppa Pig episode in a long ass time. It's all really simple: Daddy Pig overcomes the odds and wins everytime. I have never seen Daddy Pig booked as strong as he was in this episode ever and while it made everyone look like geeks; they were willing to play the part and accept that Daddy Pig is the best at "Badmitten" as Peppa would say. Sushi Train was decent once the train was involved with the cellphone, but it was following Bad Mitten and wasn't topping it. Overall, a wonderful set with no clunkers and the worst being the shortest rant in Peppa Pig history. So...
Thumbs up for Bad Mitten, Baby Food, Iced Lolly Surprise and Blowup Splash Course. Thumbs in the middle for the rest, and I'll see you all next time.
