Peppa Pig Tales #25 Rant
Reviewed: 11/23/2024
Old School Peppa Pig Is Back! Sort of Part 25!
Well, since Peppa Pig the series has been slowing down and there's only four episodes left in the pot, I was going to resume TaleSpin work this year. An easy series that gives me great joy in terms of mockery and enjoyment. There is still lots let to do before I can finally wrap that show up. Sadly, TaleSpin has been delayed until at least 2025, because my second love and enjoyment decided to really run interference on me. How so you ask? Welcome to the Rant Shack: Peppa Pig Tales! And after the very first episode, I cannot resist and I'm going to rant on these "shorts" because Baby Alexander is back and creating a lot more questions than answers. (March 2023 Gregory Weagle Says: Hold it! I have just gotten word that there is no problems with Uncle and Auntie Pig and the family is getting along just fine. You'll see the evidence in Baby Bumps. Only one missing is Cousin Chole now.) Peppa Pig Tales is a series of short 3-3 1/2 minute episodes (Literally up to 75% of an average "Peppasode".) of Peppa Pig doing stuff without the original voices or creators with most of the "filler" cut out. That's basically it. It is awkward listening to this when you are so used to seeing the show, however; it is basically the same in term of premise. So, I'll be doing eight episodes per block like I always do until this series gets sick and tired of this and goes back to the actual Peppa Pig series which has reached eight series up to this point. How do these episodes fare?! Let's rant on shall we..?!
Editor's Note: I will no longer be revealing which episodes were done by whomever, since my video source keeps cutting off the endings and it's basically the same six to seven writers anyway.
DIY: Short opens in Grandpa Pig's woodshed as Grandpa Pig is nailing a wooden plank on a wooden table while wearing safety goggles. Grandpa uses a saw to make a notch and then uses a drill as the narrator proclaims that Peppa and George are helping with some DIY. It means "do it yourself" which only works if you have the expertise. I suspect some geeks of the week are going to ensue here. At least Peppa and George are smart enough to wear safety helmets here. Is it that hard to draw a safety helmet onto an adult's head?! Grandpa Pig explains what DIY means and the kids think they are dismissed. HAHA! Thankfully for them, Grandpa Pig needs them to back him up as we do some measuring tape and marking for a bit. Granny Pig comes in to inform everyone that she's going to run some errands, so the DIY'ers can have an orange juice break. By the way, Grandpa Pig does kiss Granny Pig on the cheek and the animation here was awkward. It look like the frame rate was shot when this happened. If it's a BS&P decision, it didn't work. We saw the kiss plain as day. The DIY'ers sit down at the kitchen table to have their orange juice. The table is wobbly and unstable as the kids are amuse by this. Wait, since when was the kitchen table replaced?! Everyone finishes their orange juice as it's time to DIY the table. Don't worry, this is not wrestling, so the table is not going to break. On purpose anyway. Sadly, the kitchen light cuts off light and now we cannot fix the table. Grandpa Pig climbs up and replaces the light bulb, which is not an LED bulb. Wow, the computer technology has advanced, but not the lights in this world for some reason. Up to this point, Grandpa Pig doesn't look like a geek. Then the calender falls down and Grandpa Pig tries to nail it back in, but the drywall is cracking to expose the house is made of bricks. If you listen closely, you can hear Daddy Pig laughing all the way to the bank. Grandpa Pig nails the calender in a different wall location and no damage occurs. The kids cheer for this. Then everything falls apart as everything goes to shit, including the nail in the wall as it somehow busted a water pipe wide open. Grandpa Pig puts everyone aside as he invokes the wrench on the rusty pipe and seals it closed, causing no more water to spray out. Chants of DIY occured and it's time to call a profession. NOT MR. BULL~! Granny Pig comes in demanding answers to this outrage and the DIY'ers mansplain themselves so much that Granny Pig has the 0.6 Rock Lobster Yeti frowning face on. Granny Pig then brings in a new table as Grandpa Pig blushes because he's dumb. The kids play along to end the episode at 3:11. This was the opposite of Bad-Mitten as Grandpa Pig started off strong in the first half and then got buried like a geek in the second half. *** (60%).
Peppa's Tropical Island Adventure: Short opens with Gigi Gazelle rowing down a rapids river on a kayak. Then Gigi hikes in the dark woods with a backpack. Then Gigi sucba dives in water looking at schools of fish and a plastic looking shark. Gigi is showing selfies of herself on her mobile phone at the playgroup as the kids are in awe. Kids: Peppa Pig, Suzy Sheep, Zoe Zebra, Danny Dog, Candy Cat and Gerald Giraffe. Gigi enjoyed that holiday so much that she looks out on a cloudy day outside and frowns because she wantes to go back and continue the adventure. The kids all go outside and wish to join her in an adventure, all with frowny faces. By the way, Gerald pronounces scuba diving as scooby diving. Ummm, the legal department might want to have a word with you on that one, Gerald. Gerald doesn't like sharks, so he didn't like Mandy's costume in Undersea Party then. Peppa decides to just make the playground a jungle via the power of the imagination. A lot of palette swaps of Polly Parrot are required for this power of imagination to work, I see. Peppa wears the pif helmet as Danny Dog and Gerald Giraffe are kayaking across the river, cosplaying being on a box rowing with sticks. Danny is being such a dick in the imagination world as he wants to go fast while Gerald wants to go slow. Then we get the fake waterfall spot involving two glasses of water and shaking the cardboard box. Next up is cosplaying them swinging on vines in the imagination world. Peppa calls the red piranha fish, the angry red fishies as Suzy panics and hangs on in fear as Peppa makes it to the other side. The cosplay involves the climbing frame and Zoe Zebra and Candy Cat using plush fishies, including a rainbow fish. I didn't know Suzy Sheep was afraid of rainbows, maybe she really is a bigot. Suzy then realizes that she was made the GEEK OF THE WEEK and stops selling. Suzy climbs down as Zoe finds a green leaf, which she calls a treasure map. Somehow, the kids act like this is real. Oh, come on, now! At least find a big green leaf the size of a piece of paper if you want to fake this one out. The treasure is a lot of building blocks inside and outside a orange paddling pool filled with water. It's now considered a lagoon as the kids all run in with sucba gear, or in Gerald's case, scooby gear. Har har! No, not really. Danny and Gerald man the kayak, Candy Cat just swims on top, Zoe checks on the schools of fish along with Peppa and Suzy. Peppa and Suzy find the CHEST OF DEMONS complete with jewels. Somehow, Gerald's shoe is in the puddling pool, for no reason as the kids enjoy themselves. In comes Gigi Gazelle as she wonders what is going on as Candy Cat speaks with binoculars on full blast as we go into the imagination jungle as Suzy Sheep has a camera on her person. Butterflies galore, but Gigi is an adult and thus banned from the imagination world. Suzy takes a photo of a bird that is exotic in the imagination world, but a seagull in the real world. At least they are not feeding the birds, that would be awful. Gigi feels bad about leaving the adventure holiday, so Peppa offers Gigi to enjoy the trip again in the imagination world as she is no longer banned from the imagination world. Awww, my heart melted as Gigi and Peppa are cosplaying rowing the kayak down the rapids. The narrator partially says it all as the episode ends at 3:07. Really fun episode. *** 1/2 (70%).
Opening Moment #1: LEGO Peppa is back! That's all you need to know!
Ready, Set, Bake: Short opens at the worst supermarket in LEGO history as Daddy Pig, Mummy Pig, George Pig and Peppa Pig are grabbing ingredients to make chocolate cake. Of course, Peppa confuses "flour" with "flower" and picks out a red flower. Thankfully, Daddy Pig corrects her and Peppa picks out the flour in a pink block. Thankfully, they remember to go to the self-checkout counter to pay for the item. There's no one else here because there's no Miss Rabbit LEGO blocks. This should not stand! Although, after the gimmick Miss Rabbit has, I'll take it. By the way, as the narrator is explaining the obvious to us and the family drives home, the house is assembled by teleport! SUZY SHEEP~?! We head to the back of the house because they cannot stage the kitchen without it being wide open. We start making the cake as Daddy Pig trolls Peppa back with the flower of doom, Peppa Pig doesn't buy it this time. George puts it back in it's proper place. Of course, Peppa cannot pour the flour properly and we get the FCC FRIENDLY WHITE FLOUR SMOKE OF DOOM to waste more time. Next are the eggs and George has concept of the word fragile and tosses the carton into the air and Mummy Pig grabs it. That promo Mummy Pig cut was pointless. George feels bad, but it's okay because nothing got destroyed and we head off with wheelbarrows to the garden to pick LEGO strawberries. It's a chocolate and strawberry cake. By the way, the mispronouncation gimmick used to be done in the comic strip, Family Circus as well. Remember strawbabies and fream?! Somethings never change. Strawberries are piled up as the family returns just as the cake is in the oven already. Mummy Pig is in awe of George's haul as it's time to make some jam. We need some space so, they build a tub where the colors and shades completely contradict the final result: A white tub. SUZY SHEEP~?! Oh, and guess how they are making jam: Peppa and George must jump up and down in the tub. Because every food processor spot has to involve a muddy puddle spot. DING! Literally, since the cake is ready and the jam is ready within seconds. Out comes the chocolate cake and the strawberry jam is completely ignored. SUZY SHEEP~?! Mummy Pig puts the cake on the table and Daddy Pig says it all. Everyone has their cake and eats it too as the narrator says it all to end the episode at 3:08. After all that, no strawberry jam on the cake?! FACKING BULLSHEET~! This was just there. ** (40%).
Drive Thru: Short opens on a boring road with the family inside Daddy Pig's car as Peppa is sing-taunting us that they are going to the resturant. George only cares about dine-e-saur as the family giggles and the narrator explains the obvious to us. They are at the resturant, which is clearly a fast food place, but they cannot say "fast food" because reasons! Peppa notices that they are driving past the resturant and complains. Daddy Pig wants to go through the drive-thru behind Vampire...ERRR...I mean, Gigi Gazelle's car. Daddy Pig claims that this is faster and Peppa Pig asks "how fast?!" Uh-oh! This is not going to end well for Daddy Pig and he's going to be the GEEK OF THE WEEK again. They go to the speaker as Miss Rabbit is taking the order with Peppa Pig exchanging notes for a while. Unlike most times, Peppa is interacting with a anthro rabbit on the other end, instead of an anthro's AI voice like the SatNav for example. I should note that Mummy Pig is very hungry as her tummy is rumbling a lot more than Daddy Pig's, so she orders in clusters first. Stop doing that! Daddy Pig is next to order and I'm going to leave the orders as an exercise to the reader. This is an extremely vegan fast food resturant I should note. George instantly wants the dine-e-saur happy meal and Peppa is being a weightlifter again as Mummy's tummy is really starting to lay it on thick in noises at this point. Mr. Bull, Mummy Mole, Mr. Rabbit and Mummy Sheep are honking their horns in disgust because they hate weightlifters, too. They are the definition of indecision. Seconds later, Peppa finally orders and it's even more complex than Mummy Pig's and in less clusters, too. Miss Rabbit tells them to go to the next window and Daddy Pig advances to the next window, which is the not the food window, but the pay window as Miss Rabbit points out in her McHappy's uniform. Daddy Pig pays with a debit card and the total cost is $14.99 for the whole thing. Wait, this sounds like 1994, not 2024. SUZY SHEEP~?! Next counter is the one with the drinks, and Mummy Pig is not amused by this because she wants food and might eat someone's face; with Daddy Pig being close by if no one is careful. Daddy Pig's driving sucks and Mummy Pig is splashed with drinks, forcing him to apologize. Yup, GEEK OF THE WEEK~! Next window is a bunch of red napkins whistling in the wind, talk about Miss Rabbit covering her ass legally on that one. Next window is the straws and sauces and George is offended by this as Daddy Pig asks how many windows are left. Next window is basically looking inside the resturant with Doctor Hamster, Mummy Zebra and Officer Panda going to their tables or eating food. Everyone's hating this now as the next window is the food. YAY! Until Daddy Pig somehow cannot reach the tray despite reaching the drink tray earlier in the episode...SUZY SHEEP~?! Daddy Pig grabs the tray, but the food items fall on the sidewalk even though the narrator calls it the floor. SUZY SHEEP~?! Miss Rabbit tells them to start over again and place an order again. The family decides it is not worth it and goes inside the resturant for real. Mummy Dog, Daddy Fox, Doctor Pony, Daddy Cat and Mummy Cat are inside eating their meals as the narrator says it all to end the episode at 3:08. This was an amusing episode and proof that eating in is better than eating out. *** 1/2 (70%).
Video Diary: Short opens at the house on the hill as we head to the sitting room with Mummy Pig sitting down on her tablet because an email is here. Peppa sits down next to her with glee because the email is a video message from Delphine Donkey. Yes! Delphine Donkey is back for the first time in ages. Delphine is adjusting her camera in her bedroom featuring a giant tickle trunk as Peppa has sent a video message to Delphine Donkey as we actually see where they live in France, which I have never seen before in the mainline series. Peppa does the same thing and both exchanges greeting in French and English in that order. Basically, they are sharing their full day on a split screen to show that they are seeing and hearing the message at the same time. Peppa's breakfast is toast with jam, which is really hot bread. Okay, good to know. George enters the frame as they are in the kitchen because George wants attention. Peppa continues her spiel as George brings in a bowl of cereal and milk and it flops onto the table spilling the contents on said table. Peppa surprisely lets this go as she is amused, George giggles, Delphine and Mummy Donkey are amused. Mummy Pig runs in with a cloth and cleans the table as Peppa's promo cutting must continue! Mummy Pig makes more cereal and milk for George as we jump cut to Peppa and Mummy Pig watching the tablet as George is making a building block tower on the floor. We cut to Delphine and Didler demonstrating their breakfast, featuring crossiants and cheese, tomato on a baugette. Didier crushes the crossiants and makes a mess as Peppa is laughing her ass off at such sport because Didier and George are messy. George protests this outrage and then the blocks collapse proving Peppa right. George, I'm sorry. She's the star and you are still a geek, even if you are third on the character top tier on this show. More videos ensue as Peppa is walking in muddy puddles with Mummy Pig on the way to playgroup. Again, the mud doesn't even come close to hitting Peppa anywhere. SUZY SHEEP~?!
Delphine Donkey shows off a video of her dancing on the sidewalk with an anthro dressed like a butler wearing a beret playing the violin. The narrator says that the name is "la creche", which is incorrect as that is French for "nursery". "Playgroup" is "groupe de jeu" in French. Split screen of the mummies and girls having a good time as Peppa shows of Hide & Seek, with the best seeker in the biz, Freddy Fox. This means Peppa is found within second due to the super nose gimmick. Oh wait, Suzy Sheep is the seeker and the same result still happens because Peppa is a chatterbox. Rebecca Rabbit and Emily Elephant join Freddy Fox and Peppa Pig in the hiding. Delphine laughs her ass off. See what I did there?! There is a game called escargo, which is a snail game where it's like hopstoch, only you are eliminated by touching the lines. The kids are palette swaps from the modern Peppa Pig games I do believe. Delphine overshoots and falls on her ass on the lines. See what I did there?! Peppa loves this game as she laughs, probably because she thinks she can beat Delphine's ass in this game. See what I...POW! OUCH! Ummmm... We get stereo brushing teeth because it's reality, BABEE~! Far more amusing than when Vince Russo does it. Peppa is in bed with Teddy, Dollie and George's Mr. Dine-e-saur, which Peppa has to toss down to George because it is George's toy and not Peppa. HAHA! George's laughing indicates that he planted it there just to annoy Peppa. Delphine is amused by this and so am I. Delphine shows off her toys in bed, one of them is Palosh (?sp), a pink version of Teddy, the doll is Popee (?sp), and Didier channels Georges and plants his toy in Delphine's bed. HAHA! Now that I think about it, Palosh might be Teddy in French and Popee is Dollie in French. Didier runs in and is not amused and takes the toy back, so Delphine basically stole the toy from Didier. Ane Coquin~! That's French for "naughty ass"! POW! OUCH! Ummmm...I meant "naughty donkey". Heureuse?! Peppa and Delphine finish off their videos tucking themselves into bed and waving goodbye to the hard camera. The episode ends at 3:07 with the girls hugging their mummies in stereo for a wholesome moment as the narrator says it all. Fun episode, although the narrator needs some French lessons. It's "Groupe De Jeu" not "La Creche"! *** 1/2 (70%).
Wonder Skates: Short opens with Peppa rollerskating and doing some figure skating, looking much improved. At first, I thought it was on a rollerskating track; but it's really the imagination world because Peppa is actually outside at the shops on the sidewalk with Mummy Pig, Daddy Pig and George Pig welding a white piggybank. They are here to buy some wonderskates which are shown in the toy shop. Apparently, there is only one pair left and a massive crowd that is smaller than when Nintendo Switch was being bought for the first time. We have Daddy and Mummy Giraffe, Doctor Pony, Pedro F'N Pony, Mummy Elephant, Captain Dog, Mummy Dog, Danny Dog, Mummy Sheep, Suzy Sheep and Mr. Zebra. Peppa asks for the piggybank from George and George gives it to her as the storyline is that she was saving up for these wonderskaters. Miss Rabbit arrives with the megaphone as she proclaims that supplies are enough for everyone, so there will be no Customer Wars tonight. Whew! That's a relief. Don't want to get that show cancelled or anything. Pushing still ensues between Captain Dog and Doctor Pony as Miss Rabbit blows that off within seconds. Captain Dog and Doctor Pony back off as Miss Rabbit declares the sale open and everyone rushes in except for the Pig family. They run in looking for the wonderskates and no one else is looking for them and getting other toys. HAHA! The family searches for the wonderskates and cannot find them anywhere as George pops from the ball basket to shock everyone for fun. Mummy Pig is using a jumping stick, which I will be ranting on in a future mainline series rant. George rides a toy car for fun as he has gotten over his hate for pink. Awww, my heart melted. They check the shoes, nothing found as George is trying out the green go-go boots for fun and profit. Mostly fun. Miss Rabbit has boxes walking fast to the east as she praises George's boots. Daddy Pig picks up George from the boots and everyone goes over to Miss Rabbit for assistance.
Miss Rabbit is on the ready and Peppa Pig is trying so hard to say wonderskates, but she is so excited that she completely forgets how to pronounce it at all, let alone properly. Mummy Pig thankfully corrects her as Miss Rabbit tells them to go back to the enterance and offers to take them there. The family bails stage right, which $20 is the wrong direction. I lose $20 from myself because they found the wonderskates on the podium. Peppa thinks she has won, but here comes Danny Dog to take the left foot half of the skates and Peppa has the right foot half of them. Uh-oh! Danny is going to lose this one because Peppa is the star and everyone else is a geek! We discover that this is the last pair and even Danny Dog realizes that he is wrecked. He also has a piggy bank, only it's brown with a brown star on the side. It might as well be a bear bank for all I know. Peppa Pig then just walks back and lets Danny Dog have the wonderskates. Just like that. Listen, I don't like it when someone hands someone a win, but considering how many times Danny has been screwed out of wins he earned and being rendered ties, this is a really classy move on Peppa's part. Danny is so happy that he hugs Peppa, takes the rollerskates and leaves without further incident. Peppa feels bad, but Mummy Pig is correct that it was kind of her. Daddy Pig decides to check on the store tomorrow and everyone is ready to leave. However, Miss Rabbit runs in with the boxes and tells them not to leave, because she opens box four to reveal, a set of wonderskates. Hey, I can accept this one over the other times Danny Dog got screwed because Peppa still got what she wanted without complaining about it. Great! Peppa is so happy to get them. At this point, the episode could have easily ended right there. However, we do a full sequence of Peppa paying for the wonderskates with her money, just to show that should bought them legit. Danny and Peppa were the only ones who wanted wonderskates as we head outside with Danny and Peppa rolllerskating on the sidewalk with the parents and Miss Rabbit watching on. The narrator says it all as Peppa roller skates on pavement to end the episode at 3:06. I loved this episode as Danny Dog got some well deserved respect and Peppa got some class in the process. This is the only episode written by the team of Ryan Denham and Gretchen Mallorie and it was fantastic! **** 1/2 (90%).
Movie Night: Short opens with George in his pj's bouncing on the sofa in the sitting room wearing a witch's hat. Peppa comes in and is cosplaying a hapless victim as George is fake casting a spell on her. Sadly, it's not to turn her into a frog as she is wearing her pink pjs which the thumbnail for his had her wearing light blue. SUZY SHEEP~?! Mummy Pig in her flower pjs is at the television with Goldie the Goldfish looking on as Daddy Pig comes in striped pjs and turns down the lights as they are going to watch a movie about a witch. Daddy Pig turns on the movie as the generic theater happy/sad mask sequence comes up and George is so giddy that he wants to sit down on the floor. But wait?! Peppa realizes that movie snacks are needed. Daddy Pig and Mummy Pig agree as Daddy Pig pauses the movie and everyone bails except George. George is gravely offended by this troll move but follows them into the kitchen. Mummy Pig brings out a cauldron as they are going to make witchy snacks for a witchy movie, and then they do the worst martial arts zoom in of Mummy Pig cackling like a witch and her cackling wasn't much better. Lots of raisins are involved and popcorn I do believe as Peppa claims that they are dragon eggs and worms. George thinks this is yucky. Peppa's cackling is so much better than Mummy Pig's. George throws in Smarties and other candy for good measure. Mummy Pig brings out the magic wands, which are fruit kabobs with star candy on the top. Peppa at least can pronounce abrakadabra properly. Daddy Pig brings in the spiral straws and fruit drinks for the magic potions. Somehow everyone has a different color drink, but only the peach drink is in the pitcher. SUZY SHEEP~?! The cackling and zoom in's suck by the way as we head back to the movie in the sitting room. We start the movie proper with a green skinned witch cackling where using a cauldron. But wait, Mummy Pig wants a large blanket to get all cozy and snuggly. Daddy Pig claims that he is a bit chilly and Peppa Pig decides it's time to make a den. So, everyone except George bails and Daddy Pig pauses the movie, AGAIN~! George sighs because he just wants to watch a witchy movie about witches. Jump cut to the den being made with pillows and giant blankets clipped together with green clips. I guess duct tape is too sticky even for this show. Daddy Pig brings in the yellow blanket and they squish together to get all snuggly. George is not impressed and moves away from the group because he wants to watch the damn movie, and even Mummy Pig notices this. Daddy Pig restarts the movie and everyone cheers. We still have one minute to go, and it's time to Cartoon Duck Syndrome this episode by having the movie pause on it's own due to the streaming service being pissy. At least this time, it's not the family trying to troll George. Daddy Pig thinks it's the Wi-Fi router and goes to it which is on a table near the western door. Daddy Pig is trying to get it to work, struggling as George is casting magic spells at the television to waste time in a three minute episode. Peppa then joins in as Daddy Pig is banging on the router and somehow got three lights on it to successfully resume the movie. A reminder: Don't bang on the router! They are not as robust as you might think. The kids think the magic brought it back to normal. SUZY SHEEP~?! Daddy Pig thinks he will get the cheers, but he doesn't as slow claps abound. Everyone snuggles into the covers as Peppa proclaims that George makes a good witch. The narrator says it all to end the episode at 3:07. Really fun episode with a funny finish. *** 3/4 (75%).
Tooth Ache: Welcome to episode #200 of Peppa Pig Tales as the short opens in the kitchen at the table with Peppa Pig eating a bowl of cereal. George using Mr. Dine-e-saur to chomp on cereal on the floor. At least it's not George chomping the cereal himself, that would be really bad. Mummy Pig is not thrilled as she crawls on the floor like a foolish clown. Peppa continues to eat cereal and then she gets a toothache. Uh-oh! She got her tooth impacted and I know that feeling all too well, and it's not going to go away without seeing the dentist. Mummy Pig notices, but cannot find anything of note in the mouth, so the dentist it is. Peppa is suddenly afraid of the dentist, despite looking forward to the dentist in the mainline series which featured the debut of Doctor Elephant. Wonder if this toothache is karma for cheating in the muddy puddle jumping contest in The Golden Boots?! Huh. Peppa finally relents after some worried looks and we head to the dentist's sitting room as Suzy Sheep and Mummy Sheep leave the dentist room happy. Suzy shows off her toothbrush and tooth sticker to Peppa as Peppa looks nervous and Mummy Pig points it out to Mummy Sheep. Mummy Sheep's expression is like "just now?! Has she been watching those Youtube Poop videos on The Dentist episode or something?" Seriously, "The Dentist" in the main line series was one of the first episodes horror people made videos out of. Suzy does the pep talk of lemon-squeezy, which makes this the third time this brand has used the "easy-peasy, lemon-squeezy" promo. Then Miss Rabbit, the nurse comes out and calls Peppa Pig, Papaya Pig. Oy vey, someone please retire Miss Rabbit, now! The endgame of this brand has to be Miss Rabbit being the queen of the world, and the scariest part is, she will still be a lot better as dictator for a day then any of the dictators in the real world. Ponder that for a moment and despair! Miss Rabbit corrects herself and calls for Peppa Pig. It's been a long day, methinks it's been more like 84 years because Miss Rabbit's gimmick is really starting to take it's toll. Peppa and Mummy Pig enter the room and Miss Rabbit brings out the safety glasses for Peppa to put on. Peppa sits in the dentist's chair which looks too much like an office chair to be believable. The chair is operated by a red button on the floor as Peppa rides in the chair and the chair slightly arches back. There is a television set mounted on the ceiling as Miss Rabbit turns it on and it's a giant tooth anthro informing Peppa that Doctor Elephant is going to take good care of her. Doctor Elephant arrives as Miss Rabbit and Doctor Elephant put on their mouth masks just to piss off the anti-mask bigots. The fact that Miss Rabbit is doing all the talking indicates that they couldn't find a voice actor to do Doctor Elephant's voice properly enough. Doctor Elephant uses the dentist lens on the teeth after Peppa opens her mouth wide to reveal a piece of cereal lodged in her mouth. Cereal is not the worst thing in the world to cause pain. I once had a piece of tooth lodged inbetween my teeth for months and couldn't get it out and that was painful. Yes, I got it out without going to the dentist, somehow. Peppa is confused, and then Doctor Elephant uses pilers and takes the cereal piece out and that was that. No pain at all from Peppa. Peppa's teeth don't hurt anymore, so there was no toothache either. Mummy Pig hugs Peppa Pig in a wholesome moment as George is literally hugging her hips. Yes, Peppa gets a tooth sticker and green toothbrush. Then Peppa's stomach growls and she blushes because she's extra hungry as we jump cut back to Peppa Pig eating a bowl of cereal while Mummy Pig and George Pig (with Mr. Dine-e-saur) and a box of cereal chasing each other. Peppa Pig don't care as episode #200 ends at 3:06. This was an unexpected choice for milestone 200, but it was a good episode with signs of Miss Rabbit dying before our very eyes. *** 1/4 (65%).
THE REVIEW LINE
Well, a mixed bag of shorts this time around. Wonder Skates was an awesome episode as Peppa Pig actually showed some class and gave Danny Dog his just due after years of being the plucky guy who cannot win and them rollerskating on the sidewalk at the end of this was fantastic. Probably Gretchen Mallorie's best episode at this point, although Tooth Ache was a perfectly acceptable episode placed in a really important spot so it felt flat compared to Movie Night which probably would have also been a thumbs up if it wasn't for the horrible martial art zoom ins and Mummy Pig's cackling somehow being worse than her fake crying. Ready, Set, Bake was a mess of logic, most of them because it's a LEGO episode and thus the episode had to work around the obvious limitations. It just felt really flat as an episode and the strawberry jam was never paid off at all. The rest was the usual, although props to Video Diary for bringing back Delphine Donkey, even if the narrator screwed up the French. Next up is the last eight episodes of Series Four for Peppa Pig Tales and that might be done by Christmas depending on the amount of episodes airing. I don't know if Peppa Pig Tales will continue after episode #208, but this show knows how to last longer than most shows, so who knows?! So...
Thumbs up for Wonder Skates. Thunbs down for "Ready, Set, Bake". Thumbs in the middle for the rest, and I'll see you all next time.
