Peppa Pig Tales #26 Rant
Reviewed: 12/21/2024
Old School Peppa Pig Is Back! Sort of Part 26!
Well, since Peppa Pig the series has been slowing down and there's only four episodes left in the pot, I was going to resume TaleSpin work this year. An easy series that gives me great joy in terms of mockery and enjoyment. There is still lots let to do before I can finally wrap that show up. Sadly, TaleSpin has been delayed until at least 2025, because my second love and enjoyment decided to really run interference on me. How so you ask? Welcome to the Rant Shack: Peppa Pig Tales! And after the very first episode, I cannot resist and I'm going to rant on these "shorts" because Baby Alexander is back and creating a lot more questions than answers. (March 2023 Gregory Weagle Says: Hold it! I have just gotten word that there is no problems with Uncle and Auntie Pig and the family is getting along just fine. You'll see the evidence in Baby Bumps. Only one missing is Cousin Chole now.) Peppa Pig Tales is a series of short 3-3 1/2 minute episodes (Literally up to 75% of an average "Peppasode".) of Peppa Pig doing stuff without the original voices or creators with most of the "filler" cut out. That's basically it. It is awkward listening to this when you are so used to seeing the show, however; it is basically the same in term of premise. So, I'll be doing eight episodes per block like I always do until this series gets sick and tired of this and goes back to the actual Peppa Pig series which has reached eight series up to this point. How do these episodes fare?! Let's rant on shall we..?!
Editor's Note: I will no longer be revealing which episodes were done by whomever, since my video source keeps cutting off the endings and it's basically the same six to seven writers anyway.
Box Fort Maze: Short opens at playgroup as Peppa is making beeping noises while carrying a cardboard version of Daddy Pig's car, only in brighter colors. There are cardboard boxes everywhere on the zoom out as Gigi Gazelle is confused at all this. Danny Dog is flying a cardboard rocket ship, Gerald Giraffe is wearing a cardboard diving helmet with a periscope made of cardboard. Suzy Sheep and Candy Cat are playing with a cardboard boat. Two of the boxes have planets drawn on the side and one has a cresecent moon on the side. The table in the background has a green forest like effect cover on just because. Rebecca Rabbit is in a cardboard box as the narrator talks about being explorers. It's noon time on the clock as I discover that the cover is actually a jungle and Gerald is looking for space aliens. Oh, and explorers are brave and never give up according to Peppa. They also bump into cardboard boxes as the bell rings outside and the entire cardbox boxes fall down onto the floor to create a maze. In comes Mummy Pig, and she is shocked by this scene. Mummy Pig asks if Peppa needs any help and Peppa cuts her explorer promo to say no. Mummy Pig decides to let Peppa figure this one out on her own. Peppa puts on a cardboard pif helmet and crawls into the boxes, which somehow are open ended so it's like crawling through a vent. Peppa then makes it to the other side...and is back to where she started. HAHA! Even funnier: Danny Dog and the other kids just play along as if nothing had happened and enjoying themselves. Peppa is frowning, but she ain't giving up yet as she crawls into the box maze of doom again. Peppa finds a fork in the road and ponders over which way to go. Jump cut to Gerald looking for aliens with his periscope, and suddenly he sees the most alien thingie possible: A two hole button with a whistle attached to it. POW! OUCH! Ummmm...I mean, Peppa's nose. Gerald is shocked, but then sees Peppa and they exchange notes for a while. Gerald gives Peppa his periscope and Peppa uses it, and sees Mummy Pig with Mummy Giraffe probably also exchanging notes. Peppa thanks Gerald as she gives the periscope back and then crawls and makes it to the other side...and is still short as there is a cardboard box barrier between Peppa and the two mummies. Not Penny's mummies, just Mummy Giraffe and Mummy Pig. Peppa is panicking and in comes Danny Dog and his very excited tail with the cardboard rocket. Danny and Peppa exchange notes on the situation and then Danny Dog realizes that he cannot help Peppa either. HAHA! Danny Dog is such a loser at this point. Gigi is there to remind them that they can work through this problem and both Danny and Peppa realize how to cut the Gordian Knot: Just ram through the damn cardboard boxes, because it's only cardboard. Peppa and Danny use the cardboard rocket ship, they run through the cardboard boxes and easily get to the other side, making sure a box lands on Gigi's head in the process. HAHA! Sorry Madame Gazelle, but this is your fault for suggesting this. You are the GEEK OF THE WEEK~! Mummy is impressed, but she would be more impressed if Peppa stopped cutting promos and tidy up the boxes. The kids stack all the boxes with the magic of a jump cut as the narrator says it all to end the episode at 3:04. Another fun episode with a finish that I approve of. If you cannot finesse it, run right through it. Especially with cardboard. It always works. *** 1/2 (70%).
Christmas Shopping: Short opens in a store with Peppa and George looking in awe at the Christmas decoration because this series doesn't have enough Christmas episodes already! Daddy Pig sees some Christmas lights he wants to buy for the Christmas tree as the narrator explains the obvious to us while Mummy Pig cannot get the string of Christmas lights out of the basket. The colored lights are tangled with the vanilla butter lights and snowflake lights just to make Mummy Pig look like a geek. Mummy Pig tells the kids to go on ahead with the shopping as Daddy Pig is giggling because this seems to always happen to him. Daddy Pig winks and they are called "Team Christmas" now. I'm on "Team Three Weeks Off", but I might slide in a little Christmas on the side depending on my mood. The kids move on while Mummy Pig still struggles with the lights. Peppa and George see ornaments and play touch tag with them for a while. Since they have lots of ornaments at home, they can pick one each. I betcha Peppa picks the Teddy ornament and loses it like she does the real Teddy. I check the video...Damn, I'm so good. George wants Mr. Dine-e-saur and there it is next to Zoe's monkey ornament. George thinks he has it, and then Edmond Elephant runs in and steals it from the rack before George can. Wait, since when did Edmond love dinosaurs?! Look, it's possible that Edmond likes them because George likes them, but I didn't see any evidence of Edmond liking dinosaurs until now. Edmond also continues to be a clever clog as he's cutting a promo on the dinosaur as he leaves with Mummy Elephant. George looks like he wants to cry, but he does not cry. Peppa assures him that things will be great. Well, maybe for George; but Mummy Pig is now tangled completely in lights. Mummy Pig is our GEEK OF THE WEEK~! Peppa, George and Daddy Pig leave to go outside the store into the Christmas market featuring homemade items. Mummy Mouse has a gingerbread house, Daddy Cat has what I believe is cubes of fudge. Some of the vendor stalls are empty as we see Granddad Dog, Suzy Sheep, Mummy Sheep, Mummy Giraffe, Mummy Elephant and that clever clogs elf that almost made George bawl, Edmond Elephant walking in opposite directions.
Then we get a laughable logic break as Mummy Mouse is written out by teleport, and Daddy Fox is written in by teleport onto the side of the gingerbread house. SUZY SHEEP~?! Also, Daddy Cat has teleported to the whip cream hot chocolate stand. I'm not yelling her name this time. Peppa drinks up and gets whipped cream on her face. She also declares that she's a snow pig. George don't care and looks rather annoyed. George has the look of "I want that dine-e-saur ornament, and that goonish elf Edmond Elephant has stolen it from me. Nuts to this!" He drops the drink gently and walks away stage left. I love that moment. We head to the next booth as Mr. Bull is selling wooden figures who do the Teddy Ruxpin doll gimmick, with a Christmas theme. Sadly, it only applies to Father Christmas as the rest are just wooden dummies. Peppa and Daddy love it, George don't care because none of them are dine-e-saurs. Peppa then gets an idea and whispers it to Mr. Bull and Daddy Pig as Mr. Bull says that he can do it in no time. Mr. Bull also has a carving knife. Yeah, I think we know where this is going. Jump cut to Mummy Pig untangling herself from the strings of lights and takes some white lights, and then she somehow gets tangled by a basket of tinsel. SUZY SHEEP~?! Mummy Pig is laughing at this farce and says "humbug". While the word means "deceptive", it's also a peppermint candy in Britian. Return to Mr. Bull's booth as he finishes the wooden thingie as George is not amused. Finally, it's revealed that it's Mr. Dine-e-saur in wood and George is so happy that he is hugging Peppa so hard that George comes dangerously close to molesting her. Mr. Bull actually sheds a tear of joy for this moment and cuts a promo about this being the season as Daddy Pig is fine with it. Mummy Pig then dances in dressed up like a Christmas tree, cuts a promo, everyone giggles as the narrator says it all to end the episode at 3:18. This was a fun episode and seeing Mummy Pig become a Christmas tree was funny. *** 1/2 (70%).
Opening Moment #1: LEGO Peppa is back! That's all you need to know.
Visiting Santa: Short opens with Peppa, George and Grandpa Pig literally building the tugboat with LEGO parts as the narrator proclaims that they are going stargazing during HAPPY HOUR (dusk). Peppa and Grandpa Pig exchange notes about stargazing which is basically seeing pictures in the stars. The kids are in awe, I'm just like whatever. Grandpa Pig's favorite stargazing moment is a giant bear which looks like Teddy, which Peppa brings out of nowhere with the GADGET TRICK OF DOOM. A shooting star is shown and then someone is ho'ing within earshot of the Pigs. The shooting star lands in a snowy land and the boat lands on the island as everyone changes their clothes behind the ship, to regular outfits. Yes, this is like TaleSpin all over again. There are presents lying around as the Pig family picks them up. They walk some more and there is a gingerbread house with Father Christmas, a sled and one big reindeer. By the way, Father Christmas is literally called Santa in Peppa Pig Tales. Wow, just wow. Even funnier, Father Christmas knows who Peppa and George are without name calling from the two kid pigs. This might as well be the TickleU dub of Peppa Pig at this point. Everyone does the meet and greet for a while. The guise of this is that Santa's sled broke and all the presents dropped from the sled. Peppa, George and Grandpa bring in all the presents. Nope, there is no Great Bear who speaks, it's just Santa. So, Santa doesn't have all the presents and the Pigs all decide to help him search for them since the elves are not around, because reasons! Grandpa Pig shakes a tree and Peppa gets the present, but Grandpa Pig eats a snow tomb. Okay, that was funny. Grandpa Pig is our GEEK OF THE WEEK~! Grandpa Pig comes up and he's a literal snowman. I howled with laughter as Grandpa Pig cannot see anything. Santa comes around and Peppa and George are literally hanging on the snowman's head. Santa pops the head off and the kids giggle. Okay, this is the best LEGO episode so far. Five more presents are thrown onto the sled. Yeah, that was that as Santa climbs into his sled and the Pigs are tired as Santa reminds them to make a wish on a shooting star. Scene change to the boat AFTER HAPPY HOUR (after dark) as Grandpa Pig, Peppa and George are on the sailing boat in their swimming gear and lifejackets sailing the seas at night. Peppa and George are in the covers as Peppa sees another shooting star. Peppa and George hold hands and make a wish. After this, Grandpa Pig shows in the sky, the great big bear which looks nothing like Teddy I should note. SUZY SHEEP~?! We see the LEGO moon in the sky as well as Peppa sees a shadow of Santa and the reindeer flying in the sky. George giggles as the narrator says it all to end the episode at 3:08. This is the best LEGO episode in the entire show, although it is a little concerning that the American name of Father Christmas was used in this episode. **** (80%). When the LEGO episodes are in open spaces, they can be good. Otherwise, it's not good.
Peppa's Hotel: Short opens inside the white house on the hill's front door as Granny and Grandpa Pig open the door. Peppa and George come in with a large trolly of three luggage bags, three plush toys and Mr. Dine-e-saur much to the annoyance of the grandparents and much to the glee of the kids. The kids unpack as Daddy and Mummy Pig arrive to say that there is no reason why they pack it this way. The narrator claims that the kids are cosplaying a fancy hotel. I've seen worse cosplays then this. Daddy Pig and Mummy Pig leave as the grandparents turn around and Peppa and George are dressed like bellhops. Granny and Grandpa decide to play along and Peppa has no clue what the phrase "Check In" means. Thankfully, Grandpa Pig does correct her. By the way, the big suitcase is supported by book and there is a push bell. George rings the bell and then tries to grab the luggage and struggles with it. Oh swell, it's the old "little kid carries something bigger than the body weight" spot Kit Cloudkicker always got in TaleSpin. Except Kit was a bear and had incredible strength despite being a waif. George doesn't come close to having an excuse. Thankfully, Grandpa Pig takes the suitcase before anymore damage can be done to George's back. We head upstairs into the grandparents bedroom. Granny loves it as Grandpa Pig winks because it's familiar to him. Yeah, I'll bet! George and Peppa have no idea what to do, so they wave goodbye, run out of the room and close the door. Then the kids exchange notes. Then we get a flashback of Daddy and Mummy packing up their suitcases inside their room as Peppa asks what they do in hotels. Mummy Pig proclaims that she loves room service the best. We return to reality (no, not really) as Peppa is inspired and Grandpa Pig is hungry as his stomach growls. The door opens and in comes Peppa and George with carrots, an apple, sandwiches, fruit cups and cookies. Grandpa Pig tries to eat a carrot, but it's made of plastic because this is a pretend hotel, you see. HAHA! Grandpa Pig is our GEEK OF THE WEEK~! The kids leave as Granny Pig pretends to eat a cookie, and then Peppa opens the door and stuffs dozens of yellow towels right onto Granny Pig. Peppa bails again and then returns with a stopwatch and a whistle on George's person because the grandparents are going to literally jump on the bed. Okay, it was more like dancing on the bed. However, that was funny. Then the grandparents offer the bellhops a turn and they accept. Yup, two naughty piggies jumping on the bed! Of course! Then the bellhops blush because they are tired and drop on their asses on the bed. HAHA! The kids need water, George is yawning, Grandpa Pig claims that their is no hotel fridge, Peppa finds a water cylinder inside the yellow drawers (NOT THOSE ONES~!) as it's AFTER HAPPY HOUR already. Granny and Grandpa Pig take the bellhop hats and the kids get to sleep in the bed as the grandparents decide to leave and call them when check out is done. The grandparents kisses the kid, the grandpsarents turn out the lights, they say good night and leave. The narrator says it all as we zoom out to the outside shot of the house to end the episode at 3:07. A perfectly acceptable episode with a fine finish. *** (60%).
Naughty Or Nice: Short opens at playgroup with Gigi Gazelle playing Santa with a masucline accent. The kids are at the tables making decorations despite the room overflowing with decorations. Kids: Peppa Pig, Gerald Giraffe, Danny Dog, Candy Cat, Rebecca Rabbit and Pedro F'N Pony. Wow, no SUZY SHEEP~ in this one....Oh wait, Suzy Sheep arrives in an elf costume. Okay, this leads to Suzy and Gigi deciding who is naughty and nice. Danny Dog and Pedro Pony claims that they are nice. Ahem, if you have to tell people you are nice, you are more often than not, naughty. I would just claim that I'm naughty and play reverse pyschology, or just not comment. Like that shirt someone wore when I was working with fire starters just recently. Peppa claims that she's whatever nice, but it's all moot since Gigi has...ahem...The List Of Santa. Don't be naughty, maaaaannnnn! The clipboard is a picture of Santa with a winter background with a green smiley face and a red sad face. All the kids are shocked and awed by this. The stakes are: If you are nice, you get a sticker. If you are naughty, you go to naughty jail, which is basically a cardboard jail cell surrounded by chairs. Gigi Gazelle is appalled by this jail thingie. The fact that Gigi is not thrilled by this should put SUZY SHEEP~ in naughty jail just for inventing the naughty jail. Even horny jail had a certain charm to it. I'm calling it right now because Suzy is given "The List": Every kid except Suzy goes to naughty jail because Suzy is the second biggest troll in the biz next to Peppa, and then Suzy gets put in naughty jail for being naughty for creating this jail and putting everyone in jail. I check the video...It's the same plot device they did with Peppa Pig and her jail when she cosplayed a police officer and couldn't pronounce "arrest" to save her life. Rebecca Rabbit is on...the nice list. Okay, so it's going to be the boys who go to naughty jail, because Danny Dog is sexist and Pedro Pony is a clueless putz. Suzy Sheep has tinsel rolled around her leg. Sycho Simon would have been proud of this. Pedro F'N Pony is on...the nice list. Okay, so Danny Dog is still going to naughty jail and maybe Peppa Pig for submitting to arrogance. Candy Cat is on the nice list as Candy is trying to tell Suzy that there is tinsel wrapped around her leg and she gets cut off. That's kind of naughty on Suzy's part.
Suzy goes to Peppa, and she's on the super duper nice list and gets the best sticker of them all. Turns out, no one was on the naughty list after all, but Suzy Sheep makes the fatal error of not noticing the tinsel on her leg and the decoration come crashing down with ease. That tinsel is robust, says I. Now, to be fair; Suzy wasn't being naughty here. Suzy was just lacking self-awareness and was just trying to do a job and didn't notice the tinsel. That was a mistake. Being naughty involve intentional actions, like her and Suzy trolling on people. Suzy realizing that she just made a mess causes her to panic so badly with martial art zoom ins that this makes her naughty and she is going to naughty jail, BABEE~! How apporos since Suzy invented naughty jail in the first place! This was funny, even though Suzy did nothing naughty to really deserve it anyway. Now, if she refused to clean up the room after the fact, that would be naughty. Suzy transfers her sticker to the naughty list, sighs and takes off her hat. She walks and stays in naughty jail despite Gigi pointing out that it was unintentional and thus not naughty. I know she said "accident", but that word excuses behavior. Peppa and the kids come together for a whisper conference because Suzy is nice. BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! The fact that Peppa says that is a huge lack of self-awareness. The narrator explains the situation as we scene change to Suzy playing a recorder. Wait, how?! If she's in naughty jail, how did she get the recorder?! SUZY SHEEP~?! Methinks this naughty jail is completely sus, if you know what I mean. In comes the kids dressed up as elves as Peppa knocks on the jail door and Peppa proclaims that they are here to save Suzy from naughty jail. Yes, the biggest naughty troll on the show is going to save the second biggest naughty troll from naughty jail. I laughed and laughed and laughed some more. Suzy thinks this is bullshit, so the kids remind Suzy of her acts of kindness while giving them stickers. This is enough for Suzy to leave naughty jail as she gets her hat back. Everyone has a laugh as the narrator says it all to end the episode at 3:16 (!!!). This episode was naughty, in a really fun way. *** 3/4 (75%).
Mystery Gift: Short opens at the house on the hill on a snowy day with a snowman wearing Daddy Pig's hat, scarf and gloves. HAHA! Someone trolled Daddy Pig again. I wonder who the naughty piggy is this time? There is a wreath on the western door and suddenly as the narrator is finishing his spiel, a giant blue spotted package arrives out of nowhere. SUZY SHEEP~?! I say this because there is no sign of Mr. Zebra anywhere, much less his post truck. Head to the hallway as everyone in the Pig family is having acute trouble trying to find their gear and put it on. Peppa is shouting "welly" over and over again. I think it's short for wellington boots, as per the debut of Freddy Fox. They are in a hurry because the Christmas Tree Shop is closing soon. You waited until now to go find a Christmas tree?! Daddy Pig is our GEEK OF THE WEEK~! By the way, Daddy Pig remembered to get a spare set of gloves, scarf and hat in case George tried the infamous troll stunt again. Anyhow, the family notices the giant present and decide to bring it in. Mummy and Daddy Pig have trouble handling it because it's heavy, but they get it into the sitting room with some ease I might add. Peppa and George forget about going to the tree shop because they take their winter clothes off in midflight. By the way, this sitting room has a fireplace now and the tele is gone. If you cannot guess the present right now, you have no business reading this rant. Peppa and George want to open the present because they know what's in it and want to get this over with. Mummy Pig no sells the deal because it's not Christmas and giving respect to dead people is tradition. So is mourning, but no one wants to admit that one. Anyhow, Daddy Pig wants to hear it, no go.They try to feel the present, no go. George sneezes for no reason. Peppa wants to peak inside, but no go. It's hard to resist that tempation to open a present you know it's a giant screen television. Daddy Pig crawls on the floor, just to cement him being the geek of this episode. Besides, we still have to get that Christmas Tree, because tradition, you see. Peppa and George run back into the hallway and now they have their clothing on so wrong that I'm laughing my ass off. Peppa and George are now the GEEKS OF THE WEEK~!
George has his boots on his hands, doing his dine-e-saur promo. Thankfully, the parents correct this. Now, I was expecting them to do a sequence of the family heading to the tree shop as it closes at the last minute and then after some bantering they either return home without a tree, or with a tree, just to give us another Miss Rabbit appearance. Nope! Scene change to the house on the hill AFTER HAPPY HOUR as the car arrives with a Christmas tree on the roof. Then we jump cut to Peppa putting the star on the already decorated tree which is blocking the television after not seeing the television at any point during the rest of the scene. SUZY SHEEP~?! I still believe this is a giant screen television in the present, though. Plus, all that suspense they build and the payoff is that they got the tree without any incident whatsoever. DUMB! Okay, the tree is wiggling as the door bell rings. Mummy answers it and it's clearly Granny and Grandpa Pig since she addressed them as Mummy and Daddy. I wonder who Daddy Pig's parents are because they cannot be Uncle and Auntie Pig, that would make no sense. George slides down the tree covered in tinsel that either is the flag of France or the flag of Russia. Just a giant middle finger (the former being a horrible thing and the later being sort of a good thing.). In comes Mummy Pig with Granny and Grandpa Pig as Grandpa Pig confesses that the present was sent by them and he's surprised that it hasn't been opened yet. When the grandparent thinks the younger adult's tradition sucks, you are a geek! Mummy Pig is confused as Granny Pig has Peppa and George help in unwrapping it. Okay, I was incorrect. It wasn't a giant screen television. It was...wait for it...wait for it...a Christmas Tree. The exact same one that the family worked so hard to buy and decorate. I laughed and laughed and laughed some more. This was a funny swerve. Just made Daddy Pig and company look like complete fools. Daddy Pig sounds almost like The Count and then everyone does the backsplash laugh to end the episode at 3:05. This was a fine episode that would have been better as a mainline Peppa episode, just to create suspense on getting the tree bit; but that finish was a funny swerve. *** 1/2 (70%).
Santa's Workshop: Short opens at the Father Christmas's grotto of the mall which is decorated with trees and fake snow. I know this because the Pig family minus Daddy Pig are not wearing winter clothes. Miss Rabbit is dressed like she is going outside in the winter cold despite being indoors. At least she only doing this for a job, unlike Kit Cloudkicker, who wears his sweater all year round despite the hot tropical climate. Mummy Pig, Peppa Pig and George walk through the tinsel door as Candy Cat and Mummy Cat are ahead of this and entering the grotto. Peppa is excited about sleigh rides and other such stuff as Candy Cat skips out with a model airplane, so she must be watching TaleSpin last time. Peppa and George enter the grotto, and it also has TARDIS abilities as it's already Christmas Eve according to the calendar. Yes, Peppa Pig Tales is using the term Santa Claus in this episode as well. We do the meet and greet for a while. Peppa and George get on his lap and Peppa decides to troll Santa by grilling him with questions, like a skeptic, only a skeptic talks slower because you want to make sure the one you are questioning understands the question fully so the one you are questioning cannot weasel it's way out of answering said questions. George just yells "dine-e-saur" even though he has one. Santa is at least amused by this as he decides to actually answer the question about the toys made in his workshop. Since the onus is on him to prove, Santa uses the MAGIC OF SNOW~ to scene change to outside his workshop as it is snowing and Peppa and George have no winter clothes on. I guess that snow makes Peppa and George immune to the cold. Hey, that makes more sense than Peppa going to the South Pole without any protection whatsoever. Ponder that for a moment. Santa's magic made more sense than the logic in this show. SUZY SHEEP~?! We head inside the workshop and we get the How It's Made tour of the factory. Of course, Miss Rabbit is there despite being the guard earlier. I guess the magic of snow teleports her to the factory. Again, it makes more sense than most of the teleporting on this show. Yes, the toys are made of magic chemicals with snow flakes. Whomever thought "forever chemcials" was going to scare people is a fool. Especially when we are in a culture where living forever is one of the biggest wet dreams ever, massive UDOT violation be damned. Universal Declaration On Torture, everyone. Now, call them Satan's Chemicals, that'll make them shudder in fear!
Then we head into the toy room and now there are three more Miss Rabbits checking the toys. That DNA splitter is awesome, dood! Bouncy balls galore! Oh, there's a giant dine-e-saur plush toy in the background. One of the Miss Rabbit is testing roller skates and being arrogant. She's slipping and swaying in the process as she trips into the bouncy balls and takes a bump off-screen. One of the roller skates falls as Miss Rabbit blames the skates instead of her balance and coordination. Next up a whoopie-cushion is put on a stool (NOT THAT ONE!) and George sits on it. The sound lasts one second. THAT WAS WEAK! THAT WAS WEAK! THAT WAS WEAK! Quality whoopie-cushion should be big enough for the fart sound to last at least five seconds. George don't care either way. Peppa, George and Miss Rabbit are wearing safety glasses, but not Santa. I know Santa is supposed to be a magical being, but in storyline he is considered real. Plus, it makes kids think this show is hypocritical. Next up is the plush toys and George hugs Mr. Dine-e-saur, GRRRR~! I knew that one was coming about twenty seconds before it happened. Apparently, there's some "device" on the plush toy because when George hugs it, it causes the strongman's bell in the background to go up and ring the bell. I thought that was one of the toys, but it's actually a quality control device for maximum hugibility. It's silly, but at least this workshop has possible standards. George is not happy to leave the dine-e-saur because it's off to the wrapping station with two more Miss Rabbits, or two of the same Miss Rabbits from earlier. Doesn't matter. There is a wrapping paper cutter device and a conveyer belt as George decides to somehow teleport onto the belt and gets a red ribbon on top of his head while Miss Rabbit is completely clueless. Then George gives Miss Rabbit a shock by making funny faces. How did George get on there?! The belt is too high for George to get on his own. SUZY SHEEP~?! Santa takes George down and sets him on his feet, so maybe Santa was trolling here?! We head outside to show the sack of gifts in the sleigh with only two reindeer wrapped with rope and bells. Lots of bells that look like cat bells. Santa takes Peppa and George, jumps into his sleigh which is impressive for someone who has a much bigger tummy than Daddy Pig, and then uses the power of the snow to scene change back to Santa's grotto and that is that.
Almost forget: The answer to Peppa's question on if Santa gets presents, the answer was "No. I just love giving them out." It's an explaination, but not a motive. Mummy Pig peaks in to inform Peppa and George to say goodbye becuase the lineup is huge now. In other words, Mummy Pig was smart enough to make sure they got there before it got crazy. Cameos for the lineup: Mr. Fox, Freddy Fox, Mummy Dog, Danny Dog, Mummy Mole, Molly Mole, Mummy Giraffe, Gerald Giraffe, Mummy Sheep, Suzy Sheep, Mummy Elephant, Emily Elephant and Edmond Elephant. Wow, this is the first time in Peppa Pig, maybe in pre-school show history someone said the word "Saint". Edmond Elephant said "Saint Nicholas", who is a legit Christian figure. This is where the term "Miracle Worker" actually came from, albeit called "Wonder Worker". Peppa and George decide to leave, but Santa stops them because he is giving out gifts today. The sack also has TARDIS abilities because George's present is the plush dine-e-saur he hugged earlier. Aw! My heart melted! Peppa's gift is a snow globe featuring Peppa and George staring at the North Pole. That is a million times better than that crappy sympathy card Father Christmas gave to playgroup in Christmas Card. Yes, I have reviewed the episode, but it won't be posted until 2025. Mummy wonders how this is possible, but Peppa ignores the question and blushes. She then decides to give Santa a Christmas card as a present. BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I love troll moves that aren't supposed to be troll move. Plus, considering what happened in Christmas Card, Father Christmas should have seen this coming. Santa accepts the card cart-blanche and puts it in the tree as Peppa, George and Mummy Pig take their leave to end the episode at 3:09. This episode ruled! DNA splitter Miss Rabbit as elves, a workshop with the strongman's bell to measure quality, Edmond saying the word "saint" on a pre-school show, and Peppa getting back at Santa for sending that awful sympathy card after the playgroup gave him a giant Christmas card made by themselves and with a "touch" of Granny Sheep's radioactive glitter. **** 1/2 (90%). Personally, this should have been the final episode of Series Four at least. However...
Playing Games: Welcome to the final episode of Series Four of Peppa Pig Tales as the short opens at the video game arcade with Peppa Pig and Rebecca Rabbit playing a racing arcade game. Mummy Pig is playing "Whack A Dine-e-saur" and failing badly. Although I wonder if it's because George might get bawling and she's doing it on purpose? Suzy jumping up and down with glee watching the race and the race ends with both cars crashing into each other while getting stuck in pink goo. I'm fine with this, at least the tie was a double did not finish the race. That's still better than Danny Dog clearly winning and then being reverted to a tie. The arcade's heart is broken, but not Peppa and Rebecca's because they are amused by this. Peppa allows Suzy to be the next player as Suzy wishes for them to play together in a three player mode which the arcade doesn't offer. Then Miss Rabbit is on the PA system and she calls Peppa, Suzy and Rebecca to the play room. Peppa looks horrified by this as Mummy Pig decides to join them and Suzy Sheep is not happy about this because it was her turn. Everyone goes into the play room which has an audio speaker on the top left wall along with a large flatscreen television. The entire room looks like a dark navy blue room with cyan blue, lime green, orange and pink squares of various shapes. Miss Rabbit is wearing a headset as she introduces the room. There is a touch screen on the wall as Suzy Sheep asks if all of them can play together and Miss Rabbit says yes. Okay, this room is actually a virtual reality. The kids all hug because this is awesome. There are three games to choose from: One has a fire icon, one has a snake icon and the third one has an apple icon that is dangerously close to Apple's icon, if you know what I mean. I discover that the flatscreen television is actually a small room for Mummy Pig and Miss Rabbit to watch on since the black door handle below it was a dead giveaway. That one is on me, I'll own that one. Peppa picks the fire icon and we get some wacky special effects and a weird sound effect like a humming drone. The game itself is basically Sinkers & Floaters, only the floaters sink forever. Peppa is staying with Rebecca Rabbit for some reason. Maybe that relationship with Suzy Sheep is starting to show signs of trouble. Suzy is like twenty feet away from them as her floater is sinking. Keep in mind, this is virtual space so she cannot die for real, she can only die virtually.
Suzy is scared as Peppa and Rebecca offer moral support and to catch her in that order. Suzy does the leap of faith -- trust me, I couldn't make that jump even at that age let alone now -- and lands on the floater without even needing to be caught. That was impressive. They get a virtual trophy on the touch screen as Miss Rabbit declares them all the winner. That's fine, it was a survivial game and all three made it in time. The second game is the squirming snakes and the object of this game is to avoid the snakes, which is basically every platformer on planet earth. The snakes are so fast Suzy almost loses her balance and falls on her ass. Thankfully, Peppa is there to catch her. Then the kids all back up against the wall and the snake's AI suddenly grows a brain and surrounds the kids, then strikes and everyone loses with a giant red X circle. Mummy Pig is not happy about that one, although she praises them for trying. Okay, so everyone won a game and lost a game. The last game requires these wacky gloves because they cannot use guns here for obvious reasons since the last game is a fruit shooter. You shoot the fruit on the wall and I guess who shoots the most fruit wins. Betcha this will end in a draw, which is also fine since it's possible to draw in these things. The kids shoot the virtual fruit and it splatters when hit. Peppa almost becomes a sour puss with a lemon coming up from behind like a heel; but Suzy kills a lemon to prevent that. The end of the game is a giant watermelon boss, all three kill the watermelon. Miss Rabbit and Mummy Pig come in and this is a new high score, so everyone wins in another tie, which is also fine since this was a co-op shooter and not a competitive shooter. Mummy Pig is so happy and then we get a slow motion moment as we discover an orange is about to splatter Mummy Pig's head; so the kids jump up and shoot the orange dead. That was some bug in the system there, Miss Rabbit. The kids all land and do the most stiff dance I have ever seen as the narrator says it all to end the episode and Series Four at 3:02. This was really fun, although Santa's Toyland should have been the last episode. The AI of the VR system needs some fine tuning there Miss Rabbit. *** 3/4 (75%).
THE REVIEW LINE
Well, we end Series Four on a high note of good to great shorts. Visiting Santa is the best LEGO Dupulo episode ever so far since the creators kept the whole thing in open space and the writing itself was really good. Sure, saying Santa instead of Father Christmas was a little concerning, but that was so minor that it wasn't worth being concerned about on the whole. I loved Santa's Workshop even more because they did build the thing up for Peppa to give him a Christmas Card as a present since Santa never gets anything for Christmas. It's also fun to see Peppa troll someone unintentionally due to context of the mainline series when Santa gave the playgroup a sympathy card after the playgroup worked so hard to give him this giant ass letter that turned into a giant ass parcel (Post officer rules, not mine). This I recommend just to see the DNA Splitter Miss Rabbits and Edmond saying the word "saint" which is never said even in the mainline series. Playing Games was extremely fun, but I do have a pro-gamer bias on that one, so the rating mileage will vary. Naughty Or Nice was also funny just for naughty jail, which seems to be rarer than horny jail nowadays. The rest were good as well and worth watching at least once. Overall, a decent end to Series Four.
I have heard rumblings that episode #208 is the last episode of Peppa Pig Tales. However, this is coming from the Peppa Pig Wikia, the same wikia whom writes misinformation, lies and other stupid stuff. However, if it is; it's only fitting that we do the final "thumbs" count for this series right now since this is the end of Series Four, that much I am certain. Here are the "thumb" counts for Peppa Pig Tales: 52 Thumbs Up, 10 Thumbs Down and 146 Thumbs In the Middle. If this is the final rant of this show, I must say that I enjoyed this side story series a lot. Sure, the voices are extremely different. However, few of them sucked. Some of those voices did a better acting job than the mainline series, although it's clear that having multiple kids and adults being voiced by the same voice talent makes some of the kids sound way too similar to each other and it takes away from the organic nature of the characters a little bit. The acting makes up for it somewhat, but the masking is not enough to not notice. There were a few clunkers, but none of them sank to the levels of the mainline series clunkers. The LEGO Dupulo episodes work a lot better in open spaces because when they try to do inside spaces, the whole thing gets exposed and it looks really bad on television. I was wondering which episode was the best of the entire Peppa Pig Tales lineup and I went with Baby Bumps, just because it was an awe-inspiring spectacle and George stuffing his dinosaur toy in his pants. And after all of this drama, Cousin Chole never made an appearance on this show, although she has made at least two appearances in Series Eight, along with Auntie and Uncle Pig together; so the family is fine and the crisis is averted. For now, I'll be waiting for the final six episodes left of the mainline series of Peppa Pig to be released since they are the only episode I need to review. I will also wait to see if Peppa Pig Tales continues in Series Five. If this series is over, it was a wonderful ride and much better than it had any right to be given the fact that a lot of people were writing this off. Nothing changes, I guess. So...
Thumbs up for Visiting Santa and Santa's Workshop. Thumbs in the middle for the rest, and I'll see you all next time.
