Peppa Pig Tales #31 Rant

Reviewed: 05/24/2025

Old School Peppa Pig Is Back! Sort of Part 31!

Well, since Peppa Pig the series has been slowing down and there's only four episodes left in the pot, I was going to resume TaleSpin work this year. An easy series that gives me great joy in terms of mockery and enjoyment. There is still lots let to do before I can finally wrap that show up. Sadly, TaleSpin has been delayed until at least 2025, because my second love and enjoyment decided to really run interference on me. How so you ask? Welcome to the Rant Shack: Peppa Pig Tales! And after the very first episode, I cannot resist and I'm going to rant on these "shorts" because Baby Alexander is back and creating a lot more questions than answers. (March 2023 Gregory Weagle Says: Hold it! I have just gotten word that there is no problems with Uncle and Auntie Pig and the family is getting along just fine. You'll see the evidence in Baby Bumps. Only one missing is Cousin Chole now.) Peppa Pig Tales is a series of short 3-3 1/2 minute episodes (Literally up to 75% of an average "Peppasode".) of Peppa Pig doing stuff without the original voices or creators with most of the "filler" cut out. That's basically it. It is awkward listening to this when you are so used to seeing the show, however; it is basically the same in term of premise. So, I'll be doing eight episodes per block like I always do until this series gets sick and tired of this and goes back to the actual Peppa Pig series which has reached eight series up to this point. How do these episodes fare?! Let's rant on shall we..?!

Editor's Note #1: I will no longer be revealing which episodes were done by whomever, since my video source keeps cutting off the endings and it's basically the same six to seven writers anyway.

Dragons By The Dungeons: Short opens in the imagination world which looks too believeable to be fake, but it is. It's a boring forest as Peppa Pig, Suzy Sheep, and Danny Dog are charging while wearing knight gear. Everyone has a meeting of the mind and it was on a hillside as Danny Dog says the title card as we see a green dragon enter the cave below the cross castle. We return to reality (no, not really) as Peppa, Danny and Suzy run down. We see Candy Cat sitting under a tree reading a book about trolls. Yeah. Knights and Dragons are her favorite game so says the narrator, as Peppa asks Candy if she wants to join and Candy says no, basically contradicting the narrator. Danny has been gaslit, believing the narrator as Peppa proclaims that Candy will reconsider after they capture the dragons because killing is not allowed in a pre-school show. We resume the hunt in the imagination world as Danny is clueless and Suzy even more so. I realize that the title card is "Dungeons"; but that is a cave, Suzy. Anyhow, they enter the "dungeon" as Suzy Sheep thinks it's scary. The kids go through the bushes..ERRR...I mean, thorny vines, which do no damage to their faces, because it's a pre-school show, you see. Suzy is so happy now that she knows this was cheap scenery. Next up; sinkers and floaters with fake lava, since they are really playing hopstoch. Candy Cat continues to read at the tree, not giving an elf. The knight kids enter a brick cave underneath the castle as there are three dragons, one green, one orange and one red. What, no blue dragon?! Bigots. The dragons are growling under their breaths asleep and this scares Danny and Suzy. Peppa of course is no selling because she's the star and everyone's a geek. Well, except for Candy Cat, the smart one of the group methinks. She's at least learning how to read. Peppa claims that dragons are friendly and she learned this from Candy Cat. Peppa waves to the green dragon and it wakes up. Peppa's claiming that she's nice is comedy diamond, and the dragon buys it and they embrace. Awww, my heart melted. Danny and Suzy embrace the other dragons and then Danny notices three saddles on the ground. Which are made of cardboard with drawings on them as the kids run stage left in front of Gigi Gazelle, so yes, they are at Playgroup. By the way, the dragons in the real world are their scooters as shown later when the kids fly on said dragons. Candy Cat still doesn't give an elf about their imagination flying dragon skills like a loop-de-loop for only fifteen pounds. Peppa asks if Candy wants to join and Candy said no. I think the narrator has gaslit these poor dragon fliers as Suzy and Danny frowny faces are 0.5 Rock Lobster Yeti. Peppa is so confused and then Candy Cat admits that she does love the cosplaying, but she was reading a story about dragons, unicorns, rainbows, a knight and trolls. By the way, the troll was on the top, while the end features the princess in yellow, so the story is that it's two separate stories that meet together in the middle. That was good. Peppa asks if she can join in reading the story, and Candy Cat agrees to the terms. Danny and Suzy are chasing each other in the background. Peppa and Candy go into the imagination world where the DNA Splitter of doom had gone from one unicorn to seven unicorns. You cannot blame Suzy Sheep for that one, since they make no bones about this being the imagination world. The narrator says it all to end the episode at 3:07. I love this episode as Candy Cat made us think the narrator was contradicting her, and it turned out the narrator was correct all along and I got gaslighted. Silly me. **** 1/4 (85%).

Baby Balloon: Short opens with Peppa and George exchanging pictures of who the baby's gender is. Peppa thinks it's a baby boy or sister and George thinks the gender is Dine-e-saur. The kids are having a falling out fight again as Grandpa and Granny Pig are watching them outside the house on the hill. We see the grandparents yellow car parked just as Mummy and Daddy Pig arrive on the house on the hill with a giant helium yellow balloon with peach hearts and a peach ribbon attached to the string. Daddy Pig and Mummy Pig reminds the kids that it doesn't matter what the gender is because the baby must be happy and healthy. Peppa takes the balloon and says the title card before doing psycho-analysis on said balloon. Daddy Pig takes the balloon, concerned that it will pop before the reveal. Then Daddy Pig messes up and the balloon somehow slips from his hands and floats away...like the wind. An easterly wind this time as Mummy Pig panics badly and everyone gets into the cars and chases the balloon towards the town. The boring road contains Doctor Hamster and Doctor Brown Bear as Mr. Bull is digging up the road...AGAIN! That forces everyone to stop on Mr. Bull's commands...AGAIN! Everyone gets out of their cars and runs like the easterly wind as Peppa is panting hard explaining what the balloon is to Mr. Bull. Mr. Bull decides to join in the run of death. When the rest of the cars stop we also get: Gigi Gazelle and Doctor Pony. The balloon goes past the playground featuring Reggie Rabbit, Mr. Zebra, Zuzu and Zaza Zerba in a stroller, Richard Rabbit, Rebecca Rabbit, Zoe Zebra, Suzy Sheep and Danny Dog sliding down a slide. The balloon comes in just as Granddad Dog and Mummy Sheep arrive holding hands and Mummy Sheep is not amused by this perverted old geezer. That was funny. Everyone runs in as Peppa yells for assistance. The rest of the playground player decide to join in as Reggie Rabbit speaks for the first time in Peppa Pig Tales, and his voice is identical to the mainline voice of Reggie Rabbit! I mention this because the voices in this show are not from the mainline series at all. They head to the hospital and out of the hospital comes Doctor Polar Bear with a letter as she sees Mummy and Daddy Pig. Uh-oh! If you cannot guess the problem right now, you have no business reading this rant. The chase continues as everyone ignores the good doctor like the bigots that they are. Peppa doesn't even have the deceny to ask for assistance. Doctor Polar Bear joins in as we chase the balloon through town, making sure to bump into Miss Rabbit along the way holding strings of balloons and almost losing them. The chase continues up and down a house that looks similar to Emily Elephant's residence, but it isn't. It looks like a brick wall apartment building. The babyfaces go up the building to the roof and then go down.

Apparently, it's next to the swimming pool from Swimming and Miss Rabbit and everyone must walk slow across the area, that was funny. Mainly because at this point, everyone was blown up so following the rules is a blessing in diguise. Furthermore, the balloon follows the rules and basically is blown up as well. I know this because Daddy Pig is able to get the balloon back, somehow. Also funny. Mummy Pig is relieved and probably shaved a few years off her life and the baby's life for that matter. Everyone else cheers and it's time for the gender reveal...and then the wind is like "FUCK THIS BIGOTED EVENT~!" complete with out of nowhere leaves. Daddy Pig counters that and sounds like his voice got blown up as well. Daddy Pig finally pops the balloon, the pieces fall down and it's empty. Thus no reveal of the gender, which in my eyes means it's non-binary. No, not at all. Peppa don't care as long as it's happy and healthy, so she was willing to accept a non-binary baby. Which is classy, but bigots rule so it's not happening. George wants the gender to be dine-e-saur and maybe George should have that as his pronouns. Peppa and George laugh and Doctor Polar Bear does a run in with her letter and comments on Mummy Sheep's shoes. Pfft, whatever. Doctor Polar Bear informs the Pig family that she forgot to stuff the letter into the balloon before giving Mummy Pig the balloon. Doctor Polar Bear is our GEEK OF THE WEEK~! Don't worry good doctor, Doctor Brown Bear is still ahead of you in that department. Daddy Pig was not amused before Doctor Polar Bear revealed the news, he knew she screwed up. She knows it too, since Polar Bear was blushing during her promo claiming that it was due to her running. Sure, Doctor Polar Bear, I'll bet it was due to you being blown up. Daddy Pig takes the letter, opens it up and Mummy Pig sheds a tear because it's a baby sister. The family hugs as everyone else cheers. The narrator says it all as Peppa proclaims that she cannot wait to meet her to end the episode at 3:07. I should note that the episode was leaked a good two to three weeks before the actual reveal date and the baby's name was also revealed. I'm not going to reveal the name just yet since it wasn't revealed in this episode. A very anti-climatic reveal, but a really fun chase and Doctor Polar Bear being dumb certainly more than made up for it. **** (80%). By the way, Wayne Forester is the voice of Reggie Rabbit in this episode. I don't think Brian Blessed is going to sue like the Prima estate did on Jim Cummings' Louie soundalike in TaleSpin.

Ice Cream VS. Smoothies: Short opens in the park with Suzy Sheep, Peppa Pig, Danny Dog and Daddy Pig running, giggling and walking. I think Peppa Pig is trying to be an abyss since she wants to eat someone. Figurally speaking of course. Then the ice cream truck rides in with Miss Rabbit. I would love to assume that Mr. Labo has been fired, but considering his work ethic, probably not. Miss Rabbit stops and sets up shop, as we roll up the flavors. I'm not going to bother telling you the flavors because they are too absurd to think of. Plus, in comes from the west, Mr. Bull's smoothie truck! Yes, the two characters in this show with the most jobs done are not only serving cool treats, they are FEUDING with each other. I know this because after Mr. Bull sets up his shop with a tv remote control, he proclaims that this park isn't big enough for both of them. I have seen the park, Mr. Bull is lying. Miss Rabbit calls Mr. Bull a cowboy, I betcha Pedro F'N Pony was thrilled at this culture appros. Sliding VS. screen ensues and Peppa is confused claiming that this is weird. Really?! I saw "Falling Out" with you and George feuding, and it's the exact same thing only it's grown adults who are not related. Again, I can't take anything you say seriously. That promo sucked. Daddy Pig basically says the title card, only he adds the feuding names to the title, while the title card shortens it to Ice Cream VS. Smoothies. Then we get the FLASHBACK OF DOOM~! Daddy Pig is in the park alone on a bench reading a green book, and then gets shocked by the feuding truck treat drivers yelling at each other. Also, the next scene changer has Daddy Pig driving a baby Peppa Pig in a stroller with the correct baby model this time! How about that?! The head's bigger than the body sadly. More bullwabbitshit ensues. See what I did there?! I think Peppa is way too young to be having icy treats, and baby Peppa doesn't give a flying elf and just messes up her stroller. I don't blame her, Peppa shouldn't be having these treats until she learns how to eat slow enough to not cause herself the icecream headache. By the way, this feud has been happening since Daddy Pig's young days when he was a hipster on a skateboard wearing his hat backwards and listening to the most ancient boombox the show could allow without being cited for trademark infringement. Daddy Pig looks like a complete tool in that outfit I should note. At least Kit wearing the hat backwards had a double meaning in that it's a navigator thing and his life was always assbackwards. Daddy Pig doesn't have that excuse going for him. The two bullwabbitshitters try to give him treats, Daddy Pig gets slingshoted off the skateboard and lands on the bench right beside Mummy Pig reading the green book in a nice nod to continuity actually.

Even better, I think that is the only time Mummy Pig legit wore pants on the show. She looks somewhat creative in the design and I'm surprised she foresaked this completely in the show. Daddy Pig blushes with embarrassment, but both giggle and we return to reality (no, not really). Oh, and Pedro Pony shows up out of nowhere as well as Gerald Giraffe, Zoe Zebra and Mummy Zebra. SUZY SHEEP~?! Mr. Bull and Miss Rabbit give eye contact violence. Peppa wants some ice cream and wants Miss Rabbit to run down the flavors. Now the flavors are ordinary flavors instead of the wacky flavors earlier in the episode. Miss Rabbit's ice cream flavors are sus, if you know what I mean. Mr. Bull is gravely offended by this because he thinks he can pull these flavors off. When Mr. Bull brings out the sign, all the flavors he has are not even close to the ones Miss Rabbit says, especially coconut. I'm confused, I thought he wanted to show that he could make these flavors, instead of trying to show that his flavors are innovative. Daddy Pig is not amused, but the kids are because it makes them look more mature than two grown adults bickering. More bickering as Peppa is confused. Then the episode turns into "A Fuel Dollars More": Miss Rabbit offers free t-shirts and Mr. Bull offers free hats. Personally, I'm fine with BS&P not allowing the two adults to have a fist fight considering the Baloo/Louie fistfight in TaleSpin was so hideously hilariously bad. The kids then take advantage of this be ordering what is basically free samples, I'm not going to bother explaining who ordered who because this is getting really silly. Mr. Bull creates the largest rainbow flavored layered smoothie of all time while Miss Rabbit has an rainbow peach flavored ice cream cone with five large scoops of ice cream. The two bullwabbitshitters walk in, they bump into each other and smoothie sprays onto the ice cream, and three ice cream scoops go into the large container of smoothies. Somehow, the layers of smoothie are intact. SUZY SHEEP~?! The two bullwabbitshitters protest this outrage, but they eat and drink their ruined products and suddenly, they like them. Peppa proclaims that the park is big enough for both of them after all. Then in comes Mummy Polar Bear on her bicycle truck with containers of yogurt. Daddy Pig is like "uh-oh" as the kids gasp to end the episode at 3:04. This episode ruled and was much better than A Fuel Dollars More by a country mile. It had it all: a feud that ended with less violence, a setup to Daddy and Mummy Pig dating until they get married, Daddy Pig being a tool in his early years, Peppa's being an awesome baby and Mummy Polar Bear coming in to push the reset button, sort of. **** 1/2 (90%).

Baby Shower: Short opens in the garden in the spring as a banner is open and hanging, with pictures of devices used by a baby and there are sweets abound. That means it's time for the baby shower as we jump cut to various food on tables and tables with seats. Mummy Sheep is coordinating, Peppa Pig is blowing a horn badly and George Pig does nothing because he's a smart little piggy, you see. Mummy Sheep has a string in her hands, that creeps me out. The party goers include Granny Sheep, Granny Pig, Mrs. Cow, Mummy Zebra, Zoe Zebra, Zuzu & Zaza Zebra, Mummy Polar Bear, Penny Polar Bear, Mummy Elephant, Emily Elephant, Edmond Elephant, Candy Cat and Mummy Cat. Daddy Pig pushes in a blindfolded Mummy Pig against her will into the area. Also creepy. The blindfold comes off as Mummy Pig yells "Baby Shower" as per the title card. We're six weeks away from the baby being shown on this show as I am writing this. Mummy Pig shakes both Mummy Sheep's hands and since Granny Sheep is here, you will not guess what happens next: storm clouds come in and it's starts raining. Okay, that's it; Granny Sheep is banned from all outdoor events, she's a magnet for bad weather. Also a SUZY SHEEP~ moment since Mummy Rabbit, Rebecca Rabbit, Rosie & Robbie Rabbit and Richard Rabbit were written in by teleport. Doctor Polar Bear and Mr. Bull are the smartest people in the room now, they knew Granny Sheep was involved and predicted what would happen. It's 11:30 AM on the clock in the kitchen when they arrive. Then the narrator gives away where the show comes from by proclaiming that Mummy Sheep didn't prepare for the British weather. British weather: Piss on Granny Sheep during outdoor events. I was disappointed that they didn't do the ultimate dry everyone with towels spot with funny music, that never gets old and never ceases to be funny. Mummy Pig wants to postpone the event for another day as this is getting expensive because the food outside is probably ruined. Peppa Pig whispers into Mummy Sheep's ear and both of them go into the sitting room. Mummy offers some ruined scones, no one takes the bait. Apparently rain has aresnic in this show nowadays. Peppa calls everyone in and of course we are going to do a worked baby shower party.

I'll admit, outside of the fake food and cosplaying plushies, the decorations are far better than the real baby shower party. What baby shower party has a bowling alley with a soccer ball and baby bottles as pins?! Mummy Pig is thrilled as Mummy Sheep and Peppa Pig do the dreaded fist bump. I just realized that nappies is British for diaper as the first table features plushies in diapers. Whomever can change the diapers the fastest wins, as it's Mummy Pig VS. Mummy Polar Bear. Mummy Pig wins with ease and I think this is the first time Mummy Polar Bear has looked dumb in this entire brand. I think Mummy Rabbit and Mummy Sheep are talking, probably figuring out a way to uncruse Granny Sheep's ummm...weather curse. Mummy Polar Bear is a good sport though and Mummy Pig tickles Peppa because she's wigglie, or something. Then we discover that Mummy Pig is good at bottle bowling, which is easy to do when you have a ball that's bigger than regulation bowling balls. By the way, Granny Pig's eyes disappear when everyone is in awe. Mummy Pig does the taste test baby food and tip-toeing around a scatter of toys, despite the fact that the path is so easy that there was no chance Mummy Pig would trip over the toys. George is dressed up like he's in the snow than in bed. I call bias on those last two since the taste test is tongue of the beholder and the later game is set up that George sleeping is clearly a work, just like this baby shower. Mummy Pig calls this perfectly chaotic as Mummy Rabbit states that she'll soon have three babies running around. Mummy Rabbit has four children, Mummy Zebra has three children so don't submit to arrogrance there Mummy Pig. Now Mummy Pig is panciking and sits down on Daddy Pig's loveseat. You know it's bad when Mummy Pig has to sit on Daddy Pig's loveseat. Mummy Sheep assures Mummy Pig that things will work out because there are six extra hands working together as Daddy Pig and Peppa Pig are helping with the changing of diapers. Mummy Rabbit shows the benefits of two kids as Rebecca Rabbit is reading a story to Richard and the twin rabbits for a while. It's about sleepy rabbits as Richard falls asleep within seconds and Rosie/Robbie both are asleep before Rebecca even started the book. Mummy Pig realizes that the chaos and crying will be balanced by the care and loving. She walks down to the diaper changing table and puts on the blindfold as the narrator says it all to end the episode at 3:12. Yes, Mummy Pig did it perfectly while blindfolded. This was another very good episode. *** 3/4 (75%).

Doctors And Patients: Short opens in the sitting room as Rebecca Rabbit is cosplaying a dentist checking Suzy Sheep's teeth. The scene zooms out to show a bowl of carrots, the first aid kit and spray, a giant robot head and a rope with a blanket hanging from it. The narrators says the title card to continue the streak. Rebecca claims that Suzy Sheep has a sore throat and then goes into the tickle trunk (because there are feathers inside the chest) and brings out a purple scarf for Suzy to wear. I realize that they are cosplaying, but Rebecca Rabbit is already a quack doctor. Suzy is so happy as she bails and in comes Pedro F'N Pony with an upset stomach, which might be a shoot for all I know. Pedro sits down and Rebecca calls her stentoscope a "listening thingamajingie". See, quack! Anyhow, Rebecca thinks he's hungry and gives him two carrots to eat twice a day. Pedro eats one and thanks Rebecca with his mouth full before leaving. Sigh. There is rainbow strings with a straw on the table out of nowhere. SUZY SHEEP~?! Next up is Peppa Pig in a red dragon's outfit. Wow, she lost a bet with George on the costumes, I see. Peppa sits down and claims she has a horrible cough as she coughs. It's not that bad, come on now. Rebecca now says that is is basically out of her expertise. Oh so she admits that she's a quack doctor?! This is a lot funnier than it should be as Peppa just tells her to be a better quack doctor complete with rainbow hair straw thingie swish! I'm sorry, I tried to explain what Peppa was doing and it came out so awful that I sound like someone who should be 86'ed out of existance. Rebecca decides to look closer as we head to the imagination world of Doctor Rebecca's office as Peppa is a red dragon breathing fire out of control! STEAMED HAM ON FIRE~! Okay, I'll get my coat...

By the way, the eye chart screams "QUACK"~! Except it's the imagination world, so it's okay. Rebecca hides behind a chair as we HIT THE MONTAGE~! Complete with the same band who does the new ending music for this show. This is not much better, it sounds autotuned. Suzy Sheep dresses up at the dressing up box like wood sprite and has a "broken" limb, or something forcing Rebecca to catch her. Pedro dressed up like a one-eyed alien, his costume in the real world was more interesting than his imagination world persona. Pedro looks like he wore green paint with a stalk of his one alien eye. Pedro's balance is terrible in the imagination world and he takes a bump off-screen. Rebecca solves Peppa Dragon's problem by using the imagination of water with ice cubes. Okay, I laughed at that. It's the imagination world, and Rebecca comes up with a very sciencey solution. Peppa Dragon flies away as we return to reality (no, not really). As for the wood sprite Suzy Sheep, she had a broken wing which Rebecca uses a plaster to repair. Alien Pedro reads the alien language chart, how convenient, and needs three lens glasses. Okay. Everyone thanks Rebecca and now Rebecca is ready to end the session for the day. But wait?! The patients are back and Rebecca is not thrilled. However, they are here to help Rebecca relax. Rebecca is now thrilled as Peppa Dragon cooks some hot chocolate, while Wood Sprite Suzy prepares the chair and Alien Pedro does a dance that sucks. Thankfully, Daddy Pig breaks this up before Pedro becomes the GEEK OF THE WEEK~! I then realize Pedro has the boombox of doom when they return to reality. Daddy Pig decides to wear the giant robot head and make robot sounded language as the narrator says it all to end the episode at 3:05. Another episode I loved as the imagination world is getting more grounded in reality. No, not really. **** (80%).

Toy Machine: Short opens in the toy store as Mummy Pig is pondering over some toy as Peppa and George are hiding and chasing each other. The narrator proclaims that they are here to find a toy for the new baby. Peppa asks about the baby liking the toy and Mummy Pig states that they will know when they see it. This is just daring for a trainwreck. Peppa talks to the bump and calls it a little bump as George growls and shocks Mummy Pig. Stuff toys go flying off the shelves, and not in the money making way I might add. Miss Rabbit is then speaking like one of those tv ads for a "miracle cure", only at least Miss Rabbit's version is within the boundaries of good taste and truth in advertising. Miss Rabbit's "tidying up" promo is awesome by the way, even though no teddy bear was involved. I guess "plush toy" is trademarked after all. Peppa Pig says "yes" to all these questions and Miss Rabbit comes out and reveals two of her toy machines as per the title card. Peppa is really asking Mummy Pig to do this, with a lot of pleases in that promo. Mummy Pig accepts and sits down on a chair with a table in the middle of the toy department store. Someone was really on the ball knowing Mummy Pig's fatigue factor in delivering this future child, isn't it?! Peppa is happy as we begin the trainwreck with Miss Rabbit showing off the buttons and demonstrating how the toy machines work. Basically, this machine allows you to do plush toys of The Wuzzles. Easy peasy, but not lemon squeezy this time. The kids play with the toy machine control panels for a while. Why does Miss Rabbit have a necklace with an ID card? I realize this is attention to detail stuff, but it's not like it's needed for this segment. Mummy Pig relaxes on the chair as Peppa Pig decides to ask if the baby loves unicorns. I got to admit, Peppa interviewing the baby in the tummy is in fact funny. George seems to be thinking about making a toy for himself and I know he's trolling Peppa because he's laughing like a second rate Muttley from Wacky Races. Yeah, trouble. Peppa continues asking Mummy about other colors and features for the unicorn, this time shouting from a distance and Mummy Pig is confused. This is less funny than Peppa Pig interviewing the bump directly I should note.

Finally, Peppa chooses her unicorn and Miss Rabbit uses a scan mobile device to turn on the toy machine and the unicorn is made. George is still having weightlifting issues at this point. Peppa says Jingle, Jangle and I give up as Peppa shows off the unicorn to Mummy Pig and the bump. George finally decides to create a deranged Wuzzle and everyone is shocked and amused by the toy. Me, I'm just amused. With some animation style changes, that would make a perfectly acceptable Wuzzle in the land of Wuz. I'm just trying to figure out the actual character sketch for it. George is loving his stuffed toy as we head home into the park as George is tossing the toy, shocking and amusing Mr. Bull and then Granny Sheep the same way, whom would praise George for his unique artwork thinking. Mummy Pig, Peppa Pig and George Pig head to the duck pond as George don't care about anything and is just quacking the ducks to be a troll. Peppa and Mummy Pig exchange notes and then the baby in the tummy does her kicks and Peppa calls the bump out on it. HAHA! Mummy Pig has to inform her that this is normal. True, but it might encourage children to kick outside the tummy, if you know what I mean. Apparently, the bump likes the ducks instead of the unicorn, so the baby will be born as a realist. That could cause an amusing conflict considering the Peppa Pig world is magic. Suzy and Peppa said so in doublespeak, so it must be true. Peppa has an idea and drags Mummy and George back to the toy store and Peppa makes a rubber duckie all by herself. Wait, I thought Miss Rabbit was the only one who could scan the machine to create the toy. SUZY SHEEP~?! Peppa squeezes the toy at the bump, Mummy Pig is amused. I am amused as the kids name the baby "Quack". Which will be overruled by Hasbro (who also owns The Wuzzles toy line I should note), and then the narrator says it all to end the episode at 3:09. Oh, the duck's name is "Quack". Well, that's all right then. Really fun episode as George just love the Wuzzles and wants the show rebooted. *** 3/4 (75%).

Camp Colourful: Short opens in the forest of late summer/early fall as Peppa Pig, Suzy Sheep, Rebecca Rabbit, Danny Dog, Emily Elephant and Pedro F'N Pony get out of Miss Rabbit's bus as a butterfly is sucking up flower juice. The narrator claims they are camping and Pedro Pony is not having any of this as he has the 0.5 Rock Lobster Yeti frown. The campers are wearing colored scarfs with a white bell on the front as we discover that there is a giant tent with Grandpa Pig and Granny Sheep as supervisors! Granny Sheep not only speaks, she introduces this as Camp Colourful as per the episode title card. There is a rainbow on the tent to scare away any possible bigots who might try to convert the kids into said bigots. Pedro admits that he's homesick, so Granny Sheep gives a pep talk. I wish someone would ask Granny Sheep how in the world can she make it rain because everytime she's involved directly in an episode it pours rain. This "world" must hate artists like her. Peppa continues the encouragement as everyone pops, and then Grandpa Pig blows the horn out of nowhere. SUZY SHEEP~?! This causes Peppa to fall on her ass as well. Basically, there are here to find treasure, nature's treasure you see. Okay, maybe Granny Sheep's streak of rainy days comes to an end here. I'm begging writers, give Granny Sheep a sunny day! But, it must be dead nature, not alive nature as Granny Sheep implies because BS&P no longer allows the word "death" and "alive" anymore since the Nickelodeon takeover. The kids look for dead nature thingies, Peppa is picking up yellow leaves. Suzy is collecting red needle spruce, most of the other kids are collecting colored leaves of the rainbow. Danny Dog finds dead tree log that is shaped like a horn and blows hard into it to get his revenge on Grandpa Pig blowing the horn earlier. That was funny. Pedro finds a "stick" and Peppa is praising him, but Pedro notices that it's a stick insect and he should know since he keeps one as a pet. I was hoping that this was the origin story of Stephen, but the colors don't match, so nope! Pedro and Peppa sit on their ass and exchange notes on being homesick and Stephen for a while. I think Stephen got more character development in this sequence than the entire brand at this point.

Then we see more stick insects as Peppa says it all, which means the stick on Pedro's left is a legit green stick. Pedro Pony -- epitome of cluelessness -- takes about ten seconds before he gets that it's a legit stick and moves on. Jump cut back to the giant tent as Grandpa Pig blows the horn, making Danny Dog go all weird and horny. One day Grandpa Pig is going to eat that horn like one day Zobe70 is going to eat that siren and it's not going to taste good. We then see a bunch of colorful flags on flagpoles and if you cannot guess what happens next...you guessed it. The next step is to use the dead nature to create a dead rainbow. The kids arrange the rainbow in proper colours, but not proper spacing for a rainbow. I guess it's to show the difference between a living rainbow and a dead rainbow. The sun sets as everyone pops and then we head into the giant tent for the sleepover in sleeping bags. The top hats with stars as lights is way out of place for a nature camp. Even when it's not magic, it's still magic. Yes, Mr. Dine-e-saur made the trip, but not George Pig. In comes Granny Sheep and Grandpa Pig dressed up like rainbows. Granny Sheep doing this is MONEY, MONEY, YEAH, YEAH~! Grandpa Pig doing it is opposite of money. Also funny. They are sleeping robes, it's not that awful! Rebecca Rabbit is sad though because she cannot see the rainbow. Granny Sheep shines her flashlight at the dead rainbow and it's fine. Pedro's a bigger worry because he cannot see. Peppa cuts a promo as Granny Sheep and Grandpa Pig turn on the top hat lights and then leave. The kids start to sleep as the narrator says it all to end the episode at 3:11. A very fun episode as...wait a second?! The episode is over, and it didn't rain?! And Granny Sheep is the focus of this episode?! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! She did it! Granny Sheep went through one episode without it raining! AWESOME! This deserves **** 1/2 (90%). Alison Ray is my new hero, her writing rules now! I mean it too! Seven episodes, five of them over **** and two of them almost **** with one more episode to go in this set. I betcha that episode is a bad LEGO Duplo episode....Oh wait, it's not.

Very Big Slides: Short opens at the water park as Peppa in her swim gear is heading down the water slide on her yellow paddle board. She splashes down in the wading pool as everyone has water wings on. The other kids include the same kids as in the last episode! The adults are Captain Dog, Mummy Dog, Gigi Gazelle, Daddy Giraffe, Mummy Sheep, Daddy Pig and Mummy Pig with her bump as somehow George Pig is here. Mummy Pig is wearing a pink bath robe with a splash logo literally on the front as Daddy Pig puts George in the wading pool. Remember Swimming when George was basically a water temperture tester?! Now he's in the pool and splashing without any trouble. Yeah. Daddy Pig sits down saying that Peppa looking after George is practice for the upcoming baby to come. As of this writing, the baby is in fact delivered and has a name. I won't spoil it until the name makes it on television though, which is expected to be June 20th on Peppa Pig Tales. Anyhow, Peppa thinks she the bravest. I think Pedro F'N Pony is the bravest trying to overcome his cluelessness gimmick. Daddy Pig decides to supervise and let Mummy Pig rest on the chairs as Peppa is giving out paddle boards. Daddy Pig gets the huge green one and then literally cannonballs into the pool! That didn't look safe at all with all the kids present, especially George whom I believe was in the pool. Sure, it did a neat visual of water splashing into the hard camera, but that wasn't a safe move. I hope the kids stiff him with a recipt backstage. Of course, everyone comes out all right as Peppa is enforcing the no running rules, which they never get right in this show. Apparently, no shoes are allowed as well if the second sign next to it is any indication. Peppa is even the bubble pool's bubble tester and it's fine. Everyone into the bubbly pool of doom! Peppa is beaming like the arrogrant troll that she is as we do a weird scene changer with Miss Rabbit attending to the dragon water slide. The water slide is painted with rainbow swirls, more alive than the dead rainbow the kids made in the previous episode. Only George has water wings on now. Peppa is not happy about this as Daddy Pig tells her that she doesn't have to prove her toxic masculinity and ride the rainbow dragon wave. Peppa is like "I'm brave, I can do this" and she climbs up the spiral stairs. The kids and Daddy Pig follow, at least Daddy Pig is wearing his glasses this time. Also, the no glasses rule is gone, thank goodness.

Miss Rabbit meets and greets everyone and calls the new ride the Rainbow Rocket Super Slide. Okay, then. The kids are gleefully happy except Peppa, whom is not the scared one of the group. Even DADDY PIG is not scared. Peppa Pig goes in and as Miss Rabbit is pushing the water raft of kids and Daddy Pig; Peppa simply jumps out. What was the point of jumping in if you were scared?! By the way, despite being a spiral slide, the show makes the water slide water go into a straight line down with music notes and other stuff. SUZY SHEEP~?! It doesn't look impressive on television I should note. The raft lands in the wading pool as there is no splash or even any real danger involved, just making Peppa Pig look like the GEEK OF THE WEEK~! Everyone's happy and then everyone notices Peppa is missing. The narrator says it all as Peppa is whimpering at the top of the slide with Miss Rabbit and Miss Rabbit just smiles. Look, I get that Peppa is a troll, but that was heartless on Miss Rabbit's part. Peppa's excuse is so bad that Officer Panda would have laughed it out of the interrogration room. Even Suzy Sheep was appalled by this because shoes are againest the rules, you see. Peppa then says "oh, trumpets", which is a DUBBED ANIME STYLE swear I haven't heard from someone. The kids and Daddy Pig come up to console her as Peppa apologizes for being too scared and lying about being brave. Daddy Pig does the pep talk as Mr. Bull goes down the water slide scared and this was Daddy Pig and Miss Rabbit's argument that grownups get scared. That is a bad example because at least Mr. Bull went down the slide and Peppa didn't. To make matters worse, Mr. Bull lands in the pool and he's happy as Mrs. Cow does a selfie with her phone. He got over it, just to make Daddy Pig look like a geek. By the way, Mrs. Cow's robe is much better than Mummy Pig's. Peppa still wants to do it inspite of Daddy Pig telling she doesn't have to do it. We restart the flume ride and Miss Rabbit asks if Peppa wants to do it, Peppa says yes and Peppa's worry face is gone. Miss Rabbit pushes the raft and Peppa does it. Somehow, Mummy Pig is in her chair teleported to the pool and claps. SUZY SHEEP~?! Peppa comes over and wants Mummy Pig to join in. You troll?! Tip: Mummies with bumps should not be doing stunts like that. Even Mummy Pig is smart enough not to fall for the troll's trap. Peppa is fine with it and Munmmy Pig points out that it is against the rules. Everyone pops as the narrator says it all to end the episode at 3:06. This was a fun episode and the worst episode of this rant at *** 1/2 (70%).

THE REVIEW LINE

Well, we got five bangers, two near bangers and one fun episode in probably the best Peppa Pig Tales set of shorts I have seen and written about. I actually loved 7 of the 8 episodes and thought the eighth episode was fun to watch with a few problems. Camp Colourful was a really fun episode with bonus points for the writer for avoiding the stereotype of Granny Sheep presence not causing a rainstorm at any point. The dead nature rainbow was a class act as well and it's really great to see Granny Sheep be a bigger presence in this show than usual. Ice Cream VS. Smoothies really outdid For A Fuel Dollars More and I mean it as a TaleSpin fan: The feud was non-violent, we got to see Daddy Pig look like a tool on a skateboard, some character development in the chance meeting with Mummy Pig, baby Peppa with the right model, a feud with Mr. Bull and Miss Rabbit and then Mummy Polar Bear runs in to push the reset and make this worth while again. Doctors & Patients and Dragons By The Dungeon were bangers that used the imagination world gimmick and somewhat rooted it in some resemble of reality. Candy Cat's misdirection was awesome in the Dragons By The Dungeon episode and Rebecca's role was awesome in Doctors & Patients. Baby Balloon was of course, the infamous gender reveal, which I was dreading because I wasn't impressed with The Big Announcement because I thought Really Big News was a million times better. I mean, there's no way The Big Announcement was topping Peppa's dumb attempt to avoid saying the word "baby" and then end up with a hat party to celebrate a bakery with bowls of baby carrots. Baby Balloon made up for the boring reveal with a balloon chase in town to allow the entire cast to be involved and then find out that Doctor Polar Bear forgot to put the card in to reveal the gender. That was a million times better than the reveal itself and made the payoff worth watching even if the payoff was obvious. Baby Shower and Toy Machine had a few flaws that made them miss a thumbs up and even Very Big Slides could have been easily a thumbs up if they didn't do the Daddy Pig cannonball into the wading pool spot that looked very unsafe and several spots that made the characters look dumb. Overall, this was the best set of shorts in this entire series and it's been a long time since we had a rant without a LEGO Duplo episode! Either it's coming in the next rant, or this is the end of the Lego Duplo episodes on this show. Personally, I'm not sad that they are gone since the stop motion animation only works in open spaces. So...

Thumbs up for Camp Colourful, Doctors And Patients, Baby Balloon, Ice Cream VS Smoothies and Dragons By The Dungeons. Thumbs in the middle for the rest, and I'll see you all next time.
