Peppa Pig Tales #32 Rant
Reviewed: 06/21/2025
Old School Peppa Pig Is Back! Sort of Part 32!
Well, since Peppa Pig the series has been slowing down and there's only four episodes left in the pot, I was going to resume TaleSpin work this year. An easy series that gives me great joy in terms of mockery and enjoyment. There is still lots let to do before I can finally wrap that show up. Sadly, TaleSpin has been delayed until at least 2025, because my second love and enjoyment decided to really run interference on me. How so you ask? Welcome to the Rant Shack: Peppa Pig Tales! And after the very first episode, I cannot resist and I'm going to rant on these "shorts" because Baby Alexander is back and creating a lot more questions than answers. (March 2023 Gregory Weagle Says: Hold it! I have just gotten word that there is no problems with Uncle and Auntie Pig and the family is getting along just fine. You'll see the evidence in Baby Bumps. Only one missing is Cousin Chole now.) Peppa Pig Tales is a series of short 3-3 1/2 minute episodes (Literally up to 75% of an average "Peppasode".) of Peppa Pig doing stuff without the original voices or creators with most of the "filler" cut out. That's basically it. It is awkward listening to this when you are so used to seeing the show, however; it is basically the same in term of premise. So, I'll be doing eight episodes per block like I always do until this series gets sick and tired of this and goes back to the actual Peppa Pig series which has reached eight series up to this point. How do these episodes fare?! Let's rant on shall we..?!
Editor's Note #1: I will no longer be revealing which episodes were done by whomever, since my video source keeps cutting off the endings and it's basically the same six to seven writers anyway.
Breakfast-O-Matic: Short opens with Grandpa Pig blowing another horn as the Pig family walks down in their robes looking groggy and not amused by this. I almost want to see Grandpa Pig have to eat that horn for breakfast, but this is Peppa Pig, so no. Of course, Mummy Pig is accusing Grandpa Pig of breaking DA RULES (FAIRY GODPARENTS~!) with that horn. Grandpa Pig goes into the kitchen as the table is loaded with a white sheet. Grandpa Pig uncovers the sheet to reveal an automatic breakfast making machine called the "Breakfast-O-Matic" as per the title card. Peppa and George are shocked, Mummy Pig is like "what?". I'm saying the exact same thing since that machine is way too big for that table. That blue table is going to break, I just know it. It's 8 AM on the clock as the machine of doom has six choices on the side panel. The kids are happy because it's another robot despite not being a robot as they run around the table. The narrator is gaslit since he calls it a robot and Mummy Pig is confused as I am. Grandpa Pig hugs Mummy Pig claiming that she loves it and Mummy Pig has the teeth smile on full blast, because she knows Grandpa Pig is full of bullshit. Peppa asks how this works and Grandpa Pig says it's all very simple. I take it back, Issac Newton Pig is not Grandpa Pig's real name, it's Scott Hudson Pig. I finally see the six choices in full: waffles, toast, jam, strawberries, tea and eggs. Basically, the breakfast Grandpa Pig has every day. Has to be. Peppa wants waffles and the machine makes them while the narrator narrates them in a How It's Made style. It works almost perfectly as it makes three waffles. Peppa and George have plates out of nowhere and catch two of them, but the third one somehow sticks to the ceiling. SUZY SHEEP~?! Sadly, the flour sprayed into Mummy Pig's eyes and she's stammering because this is not working like a charm, unless you have the charm of a troll. Mummy Pig thinks this machine is only good for special breakfast meals. However, Grandpa Pig is like "But wait, there's more..." and bangs the waffles. Even the machine is genderized as a woman. Stop doing that!
Grandpa Pig shows off the tea maker with two cubes of sugar as there was a conveniently placed green mug, just to give to Mummy Pig. Mummy Pig drinks it and says it's good, and then when Grandpa Pig's back is turned, she pours out the rest of the tea. Yup, she hates this machine now. I hate it because it's on a table that is smaller than the machine's overall weight. This table has to break at some point. Peppa wants toast next. We demonstrate the toast and apparently, the jam is two buttons instead of one. Why?! Shouldn't the strawberry be actual fruit?! Oh never mind, here comes Daddy Pig to walk into the obvious GEEK OF THE WEEK vibes! Mummy Pig catches toast on a plate on the rebound. Damn, I would love to see Daddy Pig catch a piece of toast with his mouth. That would have been money! Now the machine is shaking. I guess the machine was once a washing machine. Oh come on, now! Like you didn't see that coming 2.5 kms away! Grandpa Pig cannot hear Mummy Pig yelling at him to turn the damn thing off. Then total chaos ensues as everything goes to shit the second Grandpa Pig twists the knob on full blast. Oh wait, there is fruit in this machine! That lops off the two button jam logic break! Too bad this machine is going to be broken right now! The adults are panicky the kids don't care and giggling. The machine breaks and somehow the table doesn't break! Damn, that table is tougher than Steve Williams. Which one?! Does it matter?! Ummmmm.....Nope. Grandpa Pig is our GEEK OF THE WEEK as he apologizes. Daddy Pig grabbing toast on his arm is less impressive than him grabbing toast by his mouth. Just saying, show. A spring comes out as Grandpa Pig feels bad and wants to take the machine to the recycling center. Peppa stops him because she has a plan. Here is Peppa's plan: Take the machine back to the garden of Grandpa Pig and use it as a machine to spray bird seed. I have heard much worse plans then this, so good one Peppa. Wait?! Eight chickens, three white, three brown, two black?! Bigots! Peppa hugs Grandpa Pig for being a genius as the chickens peak the ground for bird seed. Everyone laughs as the narrator says it all to end the episode at 3:12. Good episode with a really creative finish. However, there should be THREE BLACK CHICKENS!! *** 1/2 (70%).
Ultrasound: Short opens at the hospital as the Pig Family (including Granny Pig, minus Grandpa Pig for some reason) are out of their car. Doctor Brown Bear is driving down in his green cross ambulance. Two more cars are there as Mummy Cat, Candy Cat, Mummy Dog and Danny Dog come out of their cars. The Pig family butts in first to enter the hospital waiting room because they are the stars and everyone else is a geek. Miss Rabbit is waiting for them with her laptop and drink. Peppa wants to see the baby in the tummy, probably so she can interview it. Miss Rabbit is like she think Peppa is all sus here, so Mummy Pig has to explain it to Miss Rabbit that Peppa means this is a session of "Ultrasound" as per the title card. I thought we already did this episode, but a second time doesn't hurt in real life and Peppa's interviewing a fetus is funny to me, so let's get started. It's also 8 AM on the clock and Miss Rabbit nows looks at her like Mummy Pig is now sus. Finally, Miss Rabbit gets it and Doctor Polar Bear opens the door and she'll see them now. Damn, the good doctor couldn't wait until Miss Rabbit finished her statement before announcing it. Mummy Pig is apparently going in alone this time and Peppa is frowning because she thought she would see the baby today. Doctor Polar Bear tells her that she'll see them after the doctory checks, which is a six dollar term for "BS&P RULEZ~!". It's a pre-school show, what can you do?! Daddy Pig is allowed to be in the room with Mummy Pig, thus justifying Granny Pig's existence in this episode. Granny Pig and the kids go over to the toy box and play area. Literal whiplashing jump cut to Granny Pig and George playing with the toy diggers as Peppa is lying down on a chair as if she is literally seeing a psychiatrist. She's also whining about not seeing the baby, I should note. Somehow, despite having a jump cut, the time is literally sixteen seconds. SUZY SHEEP~?! Peppa is wondering what they are even doing in there and hugs Granny Pig. Granny Pig has a plan: draw pictures with crayons. Peppa and George decides to follow along since Granny Pig is going to tell them how an ultrasound works. Granny Pig sits down in a green chair she sets up out of nowhere and begins the story of how an ultrasound works.
By the way, the next sequence is not a dream sequence nor flashback of doom: It's literally us seeing the ultrasound in action. I know this because it's been ten minutes in Peppa Pig time since they entered the room. Doctor Polar Bear darkens the room so only a lamp is lit. Doctor Polar Bear goes onto her ultrasound computer machine as Mummy Pig is lying down on the ultrasound chair, which looks like the hospital bed I laid on for 65 days when I had a giant abssess from the anal canal through the side of my groin. Mummy Pig bails to the dressing room to put on a special gown and sits down on the hospital bed. Doctor Polar Bear puts a special gel on Mummy's tummy which is so cold that it tickles. I say this because Granny Pig tickles Peppa Pig to force the point. Next, Doctor Polar Bear uses what looks to me a blue glowing microphone to rub on the gel as Mummy and Daddy Pig watch the baby be happy and healthy on the monitor screen. We return to the waiting room as Peppa drew the new baby wearing yellow, which turned out to be incorrect. George drew a picture of Quack The Duck, just to be George. Quack has more character development than the baby at this point. Granny Pig is about to cut a promo, but Doctor Polar Bear comes out to inform the kids that they are ready for the kids to see the baby on the ultrasound. Miss Rabbit understands your pain Granny Pig. The kids run in as Peppa is getting ready for the interview, but cannot find the child. Mummy and Daddy Pig scoop up the kids and they all sit on the bed to watch the ultrasound pictures of the baby with no animation whatsover. Peppa and George are in awe as Daddy Pig points out the obvious features of the baby. Granny Pig comes in and apparently, Peppa thinks the baby is waving like her picture. Everyone quietly chuckles as the narrator says it all to end the episode at 3:05. Not as hilarious as the first ultrasound episode, but otherwise a fine episode. *** (60%). I should note that the official video already has the baby's name as part of the title of this video, but since the baby still has no name in the video, I'm not going to reveal the name until the baby is delivered in the cartoon series and identified the name as such. It's only fair.
It's Finished!: Short opens with Mr. Bull in his crane on the megaphone, which is very dangerous. DON'T SPEAK AND DRIVE~! He declares that some house is ready and the Pig family all cheer as they do a countdown with Mr. Bull backing up as Peppa proclaims that "It's Finished!" with a yellow title card that has had it's font changed. Sadly, the old font was better. Wait a second?! There's a camper van and a car on the left side which looks like Daddy Pig's car and...The family goes inside as the narrator proclaims that this is their house. Yup, the house on the hill is not so little anymore, although the insides of the kitchen, sitting room and lobby aren't all that radically changed, although the kitchen did have the biggest changes. The outside of the house now has a garage house on the side. There is also a plastic blue slide on the hill. The sitting room seems to have no hallway to the east. I should note that now that the Cinema movie has run it's course; there is footage of the nine episodes, but it looks like it's in clip form and incomplete. At this point in the storyline, this is after the new house is built, but before the house is decorated since the sitting room is filled with cardboard boxes and literally nothing else. The sitting room now echoes for no reason as Peppa calls it empty even though there are cardboard boxes everywhere. Daddy Pig loves echoes and echoes are great when they are funny. This one, not so much. George's roar is much better as Mr. Dine-e-saur gets bounced off the floor for a while. Peppa calls the house different and Daddy Pig disagrees, which doesn't help my confidence any. Mummy Pig finds Peppa's sleeping bag and we scene change and return with a tent set up as family brings in pillows, sleeping bags, blankets and there is a top hat which I think is the lamp that was used in the last rant I did which also involved camping in a tent, only bigger. Also involved Granny Sheep in an episode that didn't end in rain. Mummy Pig is packing up more boxes as Daddy Pig wants to build a fort to reduce the noise, I don't think that is going to work. Peppa is blushing because she wants to create a cardboard slide. I don't know why since the slide is outside being unused. Is Granny Sheep already having an art class outside and it's pouring rain outside now?! Daddy Pig approves as the adults build the fort and Peppa pops from a top of a box to declare that the place is less echo-ey even though there's no echo. SUZY SHEEP~?!
They also build the cardboard slide and apparently, in Peppa Pig's world, cardboard is more robust than steel. Okay, good to know. Peppa goes down the slide, George roars inside the tent with Mr. Dine-e-saur. We also have white Christmas lights being used. The family sits on the floor and Daddy Pig's tummy rumbles the second Mummy Pig claims that they forgot something. It's BEFORE HAPPY HOUR (sunset) as the doorbell rings and the family goes out to see Miss Rabbit on her pizza scooter delivering two cardboard boxes of veggie pizza, because meat is cannabalism, or something. Sometimes, I club BS&P! This is one of those times. Mummy Pig grabs the pizza as this was perfect timing and Miss Rabbit praises her and winks. I don't know why they bothered to whisper yell, Peppa and George wouldn't have cared anyway. There was no surprise to be had here, so why bother whispering?! Scene change as the family is on the floor in the sitting room eating the pizza. I'm guessing Mummy Pig's strange cravings are not in evidence today. Daddy Pig cuts compliment promos and this would have been funny if one of the pizzas actually contained pickles. Which is sad because pickles are just preserved cucumbers and thus perfect for pizza without being meat. The baby inside is kicking again which Mummy Pig claims that the baby enjoyed it. I don't think so, but whatever. George squeals in response as Peppa is hugging while the baby is kicking. Hey, I respect this baby; Peppa's trolling on her disguised as interviews might be funny, but that's just me. Apparently, the baby doesn't like this kind of humor. Everyone then yawns because it's time to go into the tent and get some sleep. Jump cut to inside the tent as everyone is in their sleeping bags with lots of blankets and pillows in the background. As I suspected, the top hat lamp is inside the tent on. Mummy Pig and Peppa exchange notes and Peppa is still trying to accept the new house, but she is progressing smoothly judging by the promo she cut. Everyone snuggles in the covers as the narrator tries to wrap this up, but George involves the SHADOW DINE-E-SAUR OF DOOM and shocks everyone. HAHA! The narrator finishes his promo as Peppa tickles George and tries a counter shadow puppet that lasts about a second. Mummy Pig proclaims that somethings never change to end the episode at 3:08. A funny ending to an otherwise okay episode. *** (60%).
Decorating Day: Short opens inside a blue room with Daddy Pig dressed in overalls either painting the wall, or gluing the wall to prepare it for wall paper. Zoom out to show Peppa and George in overalls watching on. I'm guessing this is going to be Peppa and George's room and then I was proven wrong because this is going to be the baby's bedroom. Okay. Peppa and George want to paint the room and after some teasing, Daddy Pig lets them. Peppa and George grab some brushes as the narrator proclaims that this is "Decorating Day", so this is sometime during the decorating in the mainline series. Mummy Pig informs them via cell phone that she's leaving to pick up the curtains. George grabs the giant roller instead, which I see trouble brewing. Daddy Pig takes the roller away and gives the brush back to George, lest everyone looks like they just got paint bombed. Then Peppa and George are having another falling out as Peppa wants a purple princess themed room while George wants a dine-e-saur themed room. We just cannot let the baby decide it's own path now, can't we?! Daddy Pig basically takes my side of things, and then chooses yellow just to not take my side of things. Daddy Pig puts the paint in the trays and it's ready, steady, PAINT~! George and Peppa run in as we jump cut to a shop where Mummy Pig is shopping and instead of having weightlifting issues, she has impulse issues now. Hint: She wants to add a cuckoo clock to the cart. I don't think the baby will end up like Baby Alexander, even if I shouldn't put it pass the mainline writers to have it as the baby's new gimmick. We head back into the baby's room as we brush up and down complete with the TEDDY RUXPIN SONG OF DOOM to waste time in a three minute episode. Then they just make a mess on the wall while song, I'm sure Granny Sheep would be proud of this.
Both kids now use the rollers and make a frame of Daddy Pig as well. Then we get abstract drawing of the naughty piggies. Peppa draws a mustache and Daddy Pig don't care, so the trolling failed. Peppa and George don't care and do the backsplash laugh. We return to the department store as Mummy Pig is tired because she overfilled her cart with everything except the one thing she promised to buy: the curtains. Now Mummy Pig has forgot and is forced to leave because the shop closes in one minute according to Miss Rabbit on the PA speaker. We head back to the baby's room as the kids have almost finished painting the wall cyan blue. Peppa is not thrilled because this actually was Peppa and George's room; so they wave goodbye to the wall. The kids paint the final part of the wall and then hug Daddy Pig as paint splats on him. They all chuckle. Daddy praises them for accepting that the baby has the room now. Peppa then has a plan since something is missing, whispers to Daddy Pig and Daddy Pig likes the idea. That means, more TEDDY RUXPIN SONG OF DOOM as the pigs are now painting plants and scenery on the cyan blue wall. There's a duck pond with ducks, clouds and a smiling sun. It's now BEFORE HAPPY HOUR as Peppa proclaims that this is their gift to the baby as Mummy Pig walks in with the new stuff in total awe of this, not realizing she's about to become the GEEK OF THE WEEK~! The family takes out the stuff from the bag and sets it up as Mummy Pig watches on. Peppa then checks the right bag and discovers there are no curtains in there. Mummy Pig blushes in embarrassment and the family laughs while the narrator says it all to end the episode at 3:07. Maybe it's just me being drained of life due to real life, but I wasn't feeling this episode much. It was okay. ** 1/2 (50%). The font is so generic now that it matches the AI song. It's almost like someone sued for infringement over the previous font, or something.
All The Doors: Short opens at the storage locker place with Peppa, George and Daddy Pig. My goodness, I'm already sensing Youtube Poop videos being made on this episode! Seriously, a self storage locker place is the place for a serial killer to hide stuff for goodness sakes, show! Miss Rabbit is here with her colored keys, and the red one is for murder. I won't make fun of the other keys because I don't want to trigger anyone at this point. Miss Rabbit dangles the keys as the kids are in awe, a sign of murderous intent. Apparently, the family is here to get the old cot for the new baby. George's teeth smile says "third degree manslaughter". Miss Rabbit opens the green sliding door to reveal balloons. HAHA! Of course, it's all the balloon left over from that party where Mummy Pig got screwed out of buying thousands of balloons instead of just the balloon cake and Miss Rabbit was the balloon store clerk. Daddy Pig is not amused, but George and Peppa don't care because they want to be serial balloon murderers. I don't think tossing them will kill them, kids! Miss Rabbit proclaims that she will allow Daddy Pig to check the other units because her watch pager beeps and is needed elsewhere, for lunch. Probably to eat another body. Apparently, Daddy Pig is taking the kids to Cheese World, which is amazing considering that we haven't heard about it since Mandy Mouse's birthday. The fact that the kids say "uh-oh" tells me that they are in on Miss Rabbit's murderous ways. Daddy Pig checks the keys as the kids are holding balloons, hoping to murder them before this episode is over. Peppa proclaims that the colored keys are "All The Doors" as per the title card. The kids let go of the balloons and they all pop in such a way that I'm guessing the cause is pop force truama to the airhead. Anyhow, it's time to open doors. We start with door #23 (red), which features a lot of trampolines and colored gym mats. The family bounces off trampolines to waste time. Next up is door #24 (blue), which is a giant ball pit and a lot of extra balls. Peppa and George inspect the ball pit, looking for bodies, found none. Next up is door #25 (green) and it's DISCO FEVER, DISCO FEVER, DISCO FEVER, YEAH, YEAH, YEAH~! Don't play Disco Inferno's theme song backwards, you don't need any pussy, trust me on that one.
The next one was another red door and it features lots of toilets, including a green one with a control panel. By the way, Daddy Pig used a blue key on a red door. SUZY SHEEP~?! Next up is a green door and it's a secret room for Officer Panda and the BBS OF LOGICAL SUSPECTS~! My goodness, the jokes just write themselves here. Apparently, Quack Quack is the murder suspect, and the the baby is going to be dead soon. Officer Panda tells them nothing to see here, so he must be an accessory to that duck. Daddy Pig closes the door, the only one he closed in this entire sequence so far. Daddy Pig drops onto his ass and gives up, claiming that he ruined Daddy's kid day. Peppa and George sit down to forgive Daddy Pig for murdering their chances to go to Cheese World. Daddy Pig is stressed out with the new baby. Oh come on now, babies aren't killers. We waste time by doing breathing exercises, the best part of the episode I should note. Peppa's miscounting was great because it led to the next spot as Daddy Pig realizes that it's Unit 42. Daddy Pig is dumb as usual. Even worse, the 4 and 2 are based on their ages, so that means the birth was planned from the day Peppa was born. That's a little creepy. They open up Unit 42 and they find the wooden crib for the baby, which is what a cot is in Britian I bet. It's George's crib since the mobile on top is dinosaur themed. Miss Rabbit casually says while walking past that it's always in the last place to look as Daddy Pig gets the joke, says it, and kills it. Peppa and George jump into the crib and they race out because it's time to go to Cheese World. Problem: It's AFTER HAPPY HOUR (after dark) and the theme park is now closed. Daddy Pig apologizes for being the GEEK OF THE WEEK, but George and Peppa don't care because this was all fun to them. After all, they did stuff in the storage lockers that it was better than Cheese World. Somewhere, Mandy Mouse is crying in her apple juice over that one. Or maybe not. Peppa and George want to do this again and since Daddy Pig has the keys, why not?! The family trampolines as the narrator says it all. Officer Panda chases a yellow duck to end the episode at 3:07. A good ending to a fun episode, although I'm sure Miss Rabbit is going to be someone's lunch after this one. *** 1/2 (70%).
Test Drive: Short opens with a palette swap of Granny Wolf in a suit (check the rims of the glasses and dress, they do not match Granny Wolf) with the keys as they beep since she's doing the car check. The Pig family gets in after the doors open along with the saleswolf with Daddy Pig driving and Mummy Pig in the passenger seat since the narrator has confirmed that they are taking the car for a "Test Drive" as per the title card. In other word, this episode took place during the episode where the Pig family is buying a new, bigger car for the baby. Apparently, in this world, the new cars are all electric and none of them are hybrids. Daddy Pig drives out as Peppa calls the car very roomy and just causes the saleswolf to do the hard sell on the car which even I don't care about. A lot of sciency words to say that it has more than enough room for anything, it might as well have TARDIS powers. This completely stresses out Mummy Pig as she fanning herself with a white piece of paper with a star on it. But wait, she's stressed out not because of anything to do with the car, her baby wants to become a real baby right now! Daddy Pig panics and wants to drive to the hospital, claiming that they need one more hour to get there. The wolfsales person agrees to do so and calls on her cell phone to cancel a 3 PM appointment with Daddy Wolf. I'm guessing that this salesperson might be Auntie Wolf in storyline and that's huge if true. Daddy Pig wants to call Granny Pig to inform her to be there to pick up the children if I remember correctly from the mainline series. Of course, the car contains bluetooth technology to connect to the cellphone even though 4G/5G is required on cellphones. Granny Pig screams when Peppa informs her that the baby is coming and she's on her way. Yes, the phone works. Anyhow, we come to a T part of the road. On the left is a gravel road, and the southern end is paved like the right side of the route where the car is now. Daddy Pig doesn't know what to do now as saleswolf pushes for Sat-Nat, which now has two features: The scenic route and the fast route and Mummy Pig is blushing and screaming for the fast route. That means it's time to go through the forest with gravel roads and big rocks, just to make Mummy Pig feel like she's on a mountain road. How fitting that the state of the art reclining seats are in fact the most manual thing on the car as a feature, as saleswolf demonstrates. Mummy Pig yawns as they are near a lake where Danny Dog and Granddad Dog are pushing a canoe boat as Peppa yells that the baby is coming. The dogs push the canoe aside which is on a flat on wheels I should note.
Then they drive through Cheese World. HAHA! See, they did make it through after all. Miss Rabbit is there as usual as Peppa yells that the baby is coming. Miss Rabbit has the megaphone and informs them of a shortcut through the cheese tunnel which apparently is named after Edmond Elephant. WHAT?! Then we make through town as there is a wedding parade in progress with cars blocking the way. Cameos: Doctor Pony, Zoe Zebra, Granny Sheep, Mummy Sheep, Suzy Sheep, Mr. Rabbit, Rebecca Rabbit, Richard Rabbit, Mr. Stallion, Mummy Cat, Mummy Dog, The Panda Twins, Daddy Fox and Mummy Fox I think. Mummy Pig wants a wedding relocation device and the saleswolf is stuck, her hard sell isn't working this time. Thankfully, Mr. Bull is right there to help as Peppa tells him that the baby is coming and he goes to the front of the line to yell "STOP" complete with mini stop sign. Everyone stops and then goes into the conveniently placed crane with giant suction cup in the background. It picks up the car, lifts it up and swings it over to the other side and puts it down. Also present for this wedding is Mandy Mouse and Candy Cat in their seats. They show the bride and groom, but I have no idea who they are. The car finally reaches the hospital as Granny and Grandpa Pig are waiting for them with their car in the parking lot. Daddy and Mummy Pig run out and run into the hospital in a panic. Everyone else gets out as Granny and Grandpa Pig do the speech about the baby being born taking time and then within seconds, Mummy and Daddy Pig come out and Mummy Pig proclaims that this is a false alarm and it would take a few more weeks. Which makes sense since the family in storyline in the mainline series got the car, make a quilt and the kids went to Sibling School between now and the baby being born. It had to be a false alarm, that was the only booking decision the writers could have made. By the way, I missed this: the saleswolf wanted to sell them on the extended warranty before the chaos ensue. Peppa groans, George and the saleswolf are disappointed. Daddy Pig still loves the car and wants it as he addresses the saleswolf as Mrs. Wolf; so it is Mummy Wolf who wears glasses to make herself look smart. Okay then. The narrator says it as Mummy Wolf finally gets to the extended warranty part to end the episode at 3:13. This was a fun episode and not much else. *** 1/4 (65%). By the way, this would be the final episode in Peppa Pig Tales before the baby was born and in that context, hell of an episode this was.
Opening Moment #1: A new opening that is not LEGO Duplo! It's the same sequence with their new house on the hill with new car and new slide added when "Let's Jump In!" is shown. Nothing else to see here.
Evie Day: Short opens inside the new baby's room with lots of ducks, a blue rug and curtains at last! The narrator proclaims that it's a special day and even Mrs. Duck would be jealous of this room. The door opens as the narrator finally reveal that the baby is here! We waste no more time as the family comes in with a baby with white footy pjs, a yellow head ribbon and a heart formed cheek. Yup, Peppa yells "Evie" and that is the title card, albeit the real title of episode is "Evie Day". Yes, that is her name. I'm not going to reveal why she is called Evie since there is a full episode on the mainline series where they reveal the reason why they chose the name. Hint: It's a character that is in fact deceased on this very show and it's not the Queen. Peppa shows off the room to Evie, including the changing area to change Evie's clothes in case of poopage. Now that I think about this, Peppa Pig Tales was preparing it's audience for this moment since the very first episode of this series. From Baby Alexander being supervised by the family, to the always infamous Baby Bumps episode, it's almost like the creators planned this from the very start. While Peppa is excited, Daddy and Mummy Pig are exchanging notes. Mummy Pig's more excited to be home and wants some quiet. I would say "peace" but that means "death" to me, and quiet makes the first word redundant anyway. Sadly, the doorbell rings and Peppa's happy to announce it, and Mummy Pig is not happy to hear it either. Daddy Pig proclaims that this was quicker than expected and he's not thrilled either. Everyone goes to the door and opens it to reveal a mob giving congratulations on the new baby. Okay, I can understand Granny and Grandpa Pig being here and maybe even Suzy Sheep; but the group iincludes Danny Dog, Penny Polar Bear, Granny Sheep, Mummy Sheep and the Two Mummies~! Yes, Doctor Polar Bear and Mummy Polar Bear.Danny Dog has apparently stolen Richard Rabbit's dinosaur toy, for no reason. Worse, the red dino toy is smiling. Why do these creators hate Richard Rabbit so?! I don't get it. Richard's not a terrible character and is no worse than George Pig is.
Grandpa Pig has two balloons which are Teddy and Mr. Dine-e-saur even though Evie's theme is the ducks. We head into the new sitting room with the adoring group adoring Evie while Mummy Pig sits down in a chair. The sitting room looks much more different than I last saw it, but keep in mind that the family is in what is basically a new house. Mummy Dog has joined in so Captain Dog cannot even be bothered to show up. Sad! The toy plushies are on the coffee table along with two trays of lasanga for no reason. Mummy Sheep then breaks the ice about the birth and then recoils realizing she fucked up. That is the funniest thing on this whole entire set of shorts I should note. Peppa decides to really BS the story by Peppaplaining that there were rainbows as even Mummy Pig wasn't buying this. Dream sequence ensues as we see the Pig family outside at their big house on the hill as there are rainbow, stars and unicorn present. Considering how much of Peppa Pig is magic in that world, Peppa is being subtle here. Apparently, Evie kicked too hard and that was the time to go to the hospital. Keep in mind that we have had one false alarm in the previous episode of this show. Everyone has a hearty laugh because Peppa Pig is channeling Monteray Jack, and Peppa's story is much more believable actually. Mummy and Daddy Pig hold hands as Mummy Pig and Daddy Pig explain more. Now, is Peppa the one who is strong, or Mummy Pig the one according to Daddy Pig's promo? Nevertheless, the kids all sell it in awe. Then we get the funniest thing of this entire set: Mummy Pig lifting Daddy Pig on a hospital bed with one hand while Daddy Pig holds a backpack. I cried with laughter, it was such bullshit, but it was worth it. This is something "Hey Duggee" would have done with Duggee and Chew Chew on a regular basis. Maybe Duggee is making me realize that the days of bangers on Peppa Pig are over at this point. Daddy Pig's reaction to this was disappointing though when we return to reality (no, not really) as even Mummy Pig is blowing this off.
Okay, what happens next is so absurd that I couldn't help laugh at it: Peppa claims that the baby was delivered. Now, you would think that it's the old stork and baby in a white sack gag coming and it's so old and played out. Peppa Pig Tales found a way to make this whole thing even more absurd: Dream sequence to Mummy Pig breathing. In comes Mr. Zebra with a parcel with a green ribbon and Evie's bow. I'm like "no. no. nooooooooooooooooo!". After Mummy Pig swipes her debit card to pay for postage, Mummy Pig grabs the box and it disappears like magic to reveal Evie. Okay, never mind that Evie would have been dead in real life had this happened. I shouldn't have laughed at this, but I did because of the absurdity of it all. Fans, don't put your baby sibling in a box and mail it, it will kill the baby. Oh, and this all happened as the hospital bed is in mid-air and it falls down perfectly. Daddy Pig is fine, but I'm losing it now. The fact that Peppa winked afterwards tells you she's speaking bullshit and all the kids bought it hook, line and sinker. This is the funniest trolling Peppa has done since drawing a picture of Daddy Pig on the sofa watching television. Mummy Pig wishes it were eight long hours as the adults now have an awkward laugh. Sadly, it's all downhill from there as the story continues with Granny and Grandpa Pig's car having rocket boosters. I'm sorry, the whole baby in the post gag cannot be topped and it's time to mercy kill this episode. Grandpa Pig is teeth-smiling and knows it's BS, even Granny Sheep thinks this is sus. I guess she's an environmentalist as well. They make it to the hospital and ran in such a fashion that they stopped for juice at the vending machine, killing the whole gag right there. Mummy Pony and Doctor Brown Bear in scrubs made an appearance here. It's also 11 AM as the kids are still buying what Peppa is selling. She is such a grifting troll at this point. The story ends with the kids and grandparents meeting the baby as Mummy Pig calls it true. Daddy Pig proclaims with a tear in his eye that it was the best day ever to end the episode at 3:18. This was the best episode in the post-little house on the hill run at **** 1/2 (90%), much of that on the parcel baby spot alone.
Safety First: Short opens with Peppa and George going down the stairs which is probably the only thing in this new house that hasn't been radically changed in the final look. There is heavy rock music as Daddy Pig is rocking to a tube music box while installing a baby monitoring camera system on the wall. Also, there is a white barrier on the bottom step to prevent Peppa and George from escaping. Uh-oh! They are in proofing jail! No, not really. Daddy Pig cannot hear Peppa, but can see her and stops the music. He opens the barrier as Peppa calls it stairs jail. Okay, that was funny; but Daddy Pig is just making it safe for Evie, because "Safety First" as per the title card. Peppa and George want to help and Daddy Pig suggests picking up leftover toys on the floor, to make sure no one slips on them. Personally, this should be done regardless of a baby, but what do I know about children?! Anyhow, Peppa and George bail to the sitting room as Peppa enters and George comes in looking like Oscar Vandersnoot after his mother put all the gimmicks on him to protect himself in Captains Outrageous. HAHA! George forgetting to put the bubble wrap on his body instead of his helmet was funny. George is cosplaying a baby as Peppa and George are playing the game of prevention as the coffee table and Mr. Dine-e-saur are used and the toy has yellow teeth now. Uh-oh! That toy needs another visit to the dentist soon. By the way, it's the only toy on the ground to pick up as Peppa calls the toy too bitey. George plays with that toy all the time, you troll. Peppa's trolling continues claiming that George should not make it to the door due to the doorknob coming off, even though George cannot reach nor touch the doorknob to save it's life. Then they go into the kitchen as the car keys are on the table and this funny, but pointless game continues. Yeah, Peppa is disobeying Daddy Pig on him telling them to pick up toys from the sitting room floor, what a shocker?! Peppa takes the plate of crumbley cookies, and I'm guessing they are oatmeal raisin cookies since those cookies really crumble for real. Peppa and George eat the cookies as the narrator says it all.
Jump cut to Daddy Pig testing the monitor. Onscreen is Mummy Pig and Evie in the adults bedroom I do believe judging by the bed in the background. They exchange notes and then Daddy Pig goes into the sitting room and sees Peppa bubble wrapping every object that it not nailed down. HAHA! The sofa and chair have wooly hats as Peppa proclaims that you cannot be too careful. Does Peppa realize that bubble wrap pops and makes noise that could disturb Evie?! Apparently, Evie hates bubble wrap because Evie is bawling her eyes out for the first time in Peppa Pig Tales. Get use to it, you're going to see a lot more crying in Peppa Pig in general and it's mostly on Evie's part. Mummy Pig tells Daddy Pig to get Quack Quack the duck from the car. Daddy Pig calls Mummy Pig a pickle and shuts down the monitor as now Daddy Pig has to ponder over where the car keys are. I betcha those car keys are bubble wrapped as well. I check the video....The family goes to the entrance as there is caution tape on the door, because Peppa Pig is a troll. Even more so when Peppa is proclaiming that this is impossible and even the narrator agrees with her! Damn! George is like "duck this!" and rams through the entrance to clear it. Yeah.....and also, damn I'm good! Because Peppa Pig is...you guessed it. Thankfully, the bubble wrap doesn't affect the button to open the door, so we head to the garage for the first time to reveal the big car and Quack Quack in said car. Everyone plays relay catch for a long ass whomping time to kill time in a three minute episode. We head into the kitchen, sitting room, upstairs and the adults' bedroom with George handling Quack Quack and getting on the bed. George gives Quack Quack to Evie whom is crying while Mummy Pig is sitting on the bed. Mummy Pig grabs Quack Quack and Evie calms down and sleeps. Peppa breathes a sigh of relief as Mummy and Daddy basically say to look out for Evie since Peppa Pig overdid it in the safety part. Peppa agrees to do that as George's inflatable raft pops on cue, Evie still sleeps. The narrator says it all to end the episode at 2:55. This was a really fun episode with the bubble wrapping everything spot being the funniest bit. *** 1/2 (70%).
THE REVIEW LINE
Well, this was a sort of disappointing set of shorts to close out the little house on the hill era and begin the big house on the hill era along with the birth of Evie, the new baby sister of Peppa. It's not that none of the episodes were bad, but most of them were average at worst to fun at best. None of them stood out and at this point, I am starting to get burnt out watching this show. Evie Day was the best one by default and it got saved by one of the most funniest BS stories about a baby being born, especially how the baby was born. It's so absurd that I couldn't help but howl with laughter. Peppa Pig's BS stories are funny, I won't lie. The rest were fine, but "Hey Duggee" just kills the enjoyment for me. The fact that I had to make murder jokes on "All The Doors" just to make the episode more exciting than it actually is means that maybe it's time to at least rethink doing this series. Again, the shorts were okay, but the sameness is starting to show and this series is far from over. Peppa Pig Tales is continuing throughout the summer which means Series Six for this series will happen as planned. I want to start focusing on moving all my TaleSpin material to 50webs from Livejournal, so that everything is safe and sound in July, so I'm going to move Peppa Pig Tales to Monday afternoons to rant on so I have something to do on Monday without ignoring the show. Yes, it will mean doing two episodes in one day, but it's like one episode of "Hey Duggee", so whatever. So...
Thumbs up for Evie Day. Thumbs in the middle for the rest, and I'll see you all next time.
