TaleSpin Books: Pet Project Or Shiny Gorilla Transcript/Localization

TaleSpin Story Title - Pet Project

(The Shiny Gorilla Bird was my embellishment since I don't have an official English title and the Polish one shown is way too generic. The story itself is in Polish and this was translated and localized quite a bit for clarity. One big example is Kit's airfoil was literally called a wing. All descriptions of pictures are in bold.)

"Come, little ones.." Baloo said to Kit and Molly "Time for zoo-bee-doo to the Zoo!" Kit and Molly ran quickly. Molly put on her new jacket with chrome buttons.

Before they could leave, however, Molly's mother, Rebecca, stopped Baloo. "This urgent task has just arrived," Rebecca said to Baloo,"You must complete this at once."

(Rebecca is showing a rush order paper to Baloo, Kit looks amused. Molly is wearing a pea soup jacket with chrome button and does not look amused at all.)

"Please, Becky, can't that wait?" Baloo looked at Kit and Molly, who look clearly sad.

"I'm sorry," Rebecca said, stroking Molly's head. "It's a load of ice blocks to Nostralia. They've just had a massive heatwave and needed ice."

Rebecca agreed, however, that Molly could go along with Baloo and Kit. Soon, Baloo's plane, The SeaDuck, landed at Nostralia's tropical airport. While Kit was helping Baloo unload ice, Molly walked to the back of the SeaDuck, and sat down in the shade after a while. She took off her jacket and leaned against a tree. Suddenly, something pulled at the sleeve of the jacket. Molly fell down and was confused. It was pulled again. Molly turned around cautiously.

(Baloo, Kit and Molly are in the SeaDuck. Baloo is wearing silver headphones while piloting. Continuity Error: Despite the dialogue saying that Molly was wearing the jacket in the SeaDuck; she was in her regular clothes, sans the jacket.)

It was the strangest bird she had ever seen! It had a smooth neck, long legs and lumpy knees. It's wings were short and thick, and his large, round body was covered with shiny metal-colored feathers. This strange bird ate buttons from her jacket.

"Stop!" Molly grabbed her jacket, but the bird gladly pulled off more buttons. It looked funny, so Molly laughed.

"You are cute!" she said. "Do you want to be my pet?"

(Molly is struggling with the bird in a tug of war with the jacket.)

Molly brought the bird back to the SeaDuck. Baloo and Kit had just finished unloading the cargo and the back of the SeaDuck was empty. Molly quickly brought the bird inside.

"You should hide until we get back home," she said. Then she went with Baloo and Kit to the cabin. Soon, the SeaDuck was flying in the sky.

"Oh yeah, I like this kind work very much!" Baloo proclaimed, as he leaned back in his chair. "Simple and easy!"

(Molly uses the jacket to lure the bird into the back of the SeaDuck.)

Suddenly, Kit was interrupted by a loud noise coming from the cargo room. Kit jumped from his chair and opened the back door.

"Oh no! It's a bird!" Kit screamed as the bird entered.

"It's a Gorilla Bird! I've known about them before. They can't fly. They can eat anything. Especially anything metal!" he added, as the Gorilla Bird swallowed another screw.

"How did it get there?" Baloo looked at Molly.

"It came with me, Baloo." Molly began to fidget restlessly in her chair. "It ate the buttons on my jacket. So I thought he wanted to be my pet."

(Baloo and Molly are sitting in the cockpit of the SeaDuck as Kit is dealing with the young bird. Note: For TaleSpin world building sake, I changed "ostrich" to "Gorilla Bird and embellished some of Kit's lines as per Plunder and Lightning Part One.)

The Gorilla Bird broke into the cockpit, and is pecking out the indicators and the metal elements of the control panel.

"Stop it this instant, you metal muncher!" shouted Baloo. "Nobody eats my plane! That bird's going back to it's home!"

"But, Baloo, he likes me!" Molly threw her arms around the Gorilla Bird's neck. Baloo shook his head and turned the SeaDuck around. Unexpectedly, machine gun shots rang out.

(Molly is hugging the Gorilla Bird; who is eating an arrow indicator much to Baloo's disdain. Kaczuche is the polish name for the SeaDuck and I had to embellish some of Baloo's insults since the translated version made no sense. Also of note: The guns were pulled out in a small children's book.)

"It's Don Karnage!" Kit shouted.

"Hold on tight!" Baloo jerked the stick and the SeaDuck began to fly like an arrow. But soon Don Karnage caught up with them.

While looking into SeaDuck, he sees glistening Gorilla Bird feathers. Karnage's eyes shine with greed.

"Give me the shiny bird!" he screamed.

"Come and get the shiny bird!," shouted Baloo in response.

The air pirate leader threw a long rope with a hook on one side and tossed it towards the SeaDuck. The grappling hook stuck into one of the wings. The plane tilted as the air pirate leader reached into the plane.

(Don Karnage arrives in his CT-37SE beside the SeaDuck, noticing the Gorilla Bird. The interaction with Baloo was localized completely for better timing. All references to Pirate are changed to the Air Pirate Leader. Don Karnage uses a grappling hook to snare the SeaDuck.)

"Give me the bird!" howls Don Karnage.

He was surprised by Baloo's attitude, whom did not protest.

"Take the bird, Karny, you old fiend," said Baloo, hiding a smile.

With the Gorilla Bird under his arm, Don Karnage slid down the rope to the plane, unhooked it and flew away.

"Baloo, how could you?" Molly started to cry. "Think about the poor, defenseless little bird in Karnage's hands!"

"It's okay, okay," Baloo sighed. "I would not worry about that metallic buzzard. It is far from helpless."

(Don Karnage swings back to his CT-37 with the Gorilla Bird under his arm.)

Baloo followed Karnage's plane.

"(It will take just a few minutes!)" he said to himself. Unexpectedly, Don Karnage's aircraft began to turn, tilt, shake, rotate and spin rapidly.

"Is that crazy pirate trying to scramble us?" He asked Kit.

"Nope. He's trying to scramble with a Gorilla Bird!," Baloo laughed.

Kit, Molly and Baloo both watch Don Karnage's waving his hands and screaming at the Gorilla Bird, who was thrashing around his plane, destroying the plane piece by piece.

(Baloo and Molly are watching from the cockpit of the SeaDuck as Don's plane is in a tailspin.)

While the SeaDuck's crew watched the events, Karnage's aircraft corkscrews down.

"Hey! Karnage, do you need help?" Baloo asked sarcastically.

"Take this crazy pigeon back!" Don Karnage yelled back as he shook his fist towards the SeaDuck, then threw the Gorilla Bird out of his plane.

"Baloo, he can't fly!" squealed Molly.

"I'll be it's wings!", Kit said to Baloo and Molly.

Kit opened his airfoil and jumped out of the SeaDuck. He dived down and caught the Gorilla Bird.

(Don Karnage shakes his fists in rage and then throws the Gorilla Bird out.)

Kit was holding the Gorilla Bird gently under his arm. (Kit gently lands his airfoil with the Gorilla Bird in his arm. Baloo lands the SeaDuck as well.) Gliding behind the SeaDuck on his airfoil, Kit and Baloo both approached a gentle landing. Baloo stopped the SeaDuck and jumped out of the aircraft.

"Today I have one more task to do," Baloo said with a smile, picking up the Gorilla Bird. The next day he woke Kit and Molly early in the morning.

"Time for Zoo-bee-doo-bee-doo!" Baloo said" I have a surprise for you!"

Baloo led Kit and Molly in between the elephants, giraffes, alligators and lemmings, to the great open space of the Zoo. There, behind a protective glass fence, stood the Gorilla Bird.

"Now walking to the zoo will look like a friend's visit," laughed Molly.

Baloo laughed gleefully. "I just hope he'll never ask us to stay for dinner," he said, looking at the Gorilla Bird eagerly eating a pile of shiny bolts and buttons.

(Kit, Molly and Baloo watch the Gorilla Bird inside the glass barrier eating metal nuts, bolts and buttons.)
