More Like Bad Theories No One Cares About Except Me!

Original Release: 02/11/2016

Ah; Federator! From creating one of the most popular and annoying series like Fairly Oddparents, the decently made Danny Phantom and the CGI Ed-Wood hit Fanboy & Chum Chum; they are a force to be reckoned with, regardless of how annoying and crappy their series can turn out to be. Federator does have it's own channel on Youtube which contains lots of cartoon shorts, most of them from shows shown on Nintendo Video for 3DS. They also have a segment called "Cartoon Conspiracy" which is basically Video On Trial crossed with Gravity Falls as they take on animation and stuff; thinking that they see something between the ink & paint. Most of the conspiracy theories are not believable and sound stupid. Then again; I have very limited faith in Federator doing anything right as demonstrated in this segment for TaleSpin. (2025 Gregory Weagle Says: Yup. It's no surprised considering how off-sync the video was in future releases.) So here's the plot of this segment: Some adult watches TaleSpin and thinks TaleSpin is a horrible sequel to the Jungle Book that implies that a mass human genocide took place somewhere in between. I thought Robot Chicken already pointed out that TaleSpin took place BEFORE the Jungle Book, not after; which sounds more believable even if that is not saying much at all. So; what secrets will be found from this show? Let's rant on shall we...?!

Your host is Chad Quandt who is your typical short haired man with a beard/mustache combination. Now; the preview for this show is notable due to the end of the preview where Emily Lynne Carson who looks like Debra DiGiovanni proclaims that this is the most notable great show on the internet, and having a huge fan base...and then we find out that she is talking about Gravity Falls. Now THAT's a great swerve! (Take a picture of this, this is the last good thing on this video.)

Segment opens with an poor man's eight bit sprite walking on a red screw box with a television showing a test pattern. There is a sky background saying "You Are Watching Channel Federator" as the eight bit sprite jumps over the television which gives him 100 points. Whatever. (Okay, this is the second spot I was amused at.) Chad is claiming that he was watching cartoons on Saturday while eating a jar of peanut butter, which he claims is a tradition. If we are going to blast Fanboy for having a favorite food being a jar of mayo, we might as well point out how gross it is to eat a jar of peanut butter since it is much a spread as mayo is. (You speak from experience I see, former self.) Chad (with cheese colored background) admits that he has a terrifying thought in his head. That he realizes that he works for Federator? Of course not. (Okay former self, that was funny.) You see, he has a conspiracy theory that TaleSpin is a really scary sequel of the Jungle Book. Not a nonsensical spin-off of the Jungle Book. Not a offensive parody to the Jungle Book; but a scary sequel to the Jungle Book. So, why is being a sequel to the Jungle Book scary? Is it because Michael Eisner green lighted TaleSpin knowing that he promised Walt Disney Feature not to use the Jungle Book brand in any way?! (Never mind that if Eisner did; then he's an idiot for keeping a promise that is really bad for business. Also, Jungle Book is public domain now? Remember that most artists don't care about making parodies or whacky concepts using Jungle Book characters. They just don't want AI doing it over them. Classic jealous motive for murdering AI.) Is it because of Walt's policy of "not topping pigs with pig(let)s"?! (Never mind that it's because he sucks at doing sequels...) Nope. It's because TaleSpin is a sequel to the Jungle Book with the premise being that animals taking over the world. Never mind that Jungle Book also had talking animals. They show the NES TaleSpin video game box; which I have a theory on concerning Ducktales. (Okay, this theory is shot out of the water with Ducktales 2017, but at the time the theory was somewhat plausible.)

The reason we don't see a lot of production stuff from the fans despite Ducktales having a much bigger fan base than TaleSpin is in part because: When they look fondly at Ducktales, they seem to be fans of the Ducktales video game from Capcom, most so the first one. They couldn't care less about the show that spawned the video game. Chip & Dale's Rescue Rangers is on the strength of Gadget and Dale. Darkwing Duck is actually on the strength of Darkwing Duck's catchphrases. TaleSpin is looked on fondly mostly for being Disney feature, which is a double edged sword since feature was pissed off at the notion of movie quality story lines on free television. Plunder and Lightning most of all. In fact; thanks to Laura Trombley, we discovered the Disney Channel cut of P&L and noticed all the edits made when the thing went into syndication. (Keep in mind that former self was the one who made up this theory and while it's believable from what former self saw during his time on the internet: Ducktales 2017 creators believed that Don Karnage was the reason TaleSpin was great. To be fair, Don Karnage was one big reason TaleSpin got over. When Don Karnage was confirmed for Ducktales 2017, it was to be expected. No one expected Kit and Molly to return, even with the early Cape Suzette reference and signs of the show taking place in TaleSpin's world circa 2017 were shown. Heck, Della Duck is more of a TaleSpin character than a Ducktales character and would stand out in TaleSpin since ducks and dognoses are rare in TaleSpin's world on television at least.) Then we get a still shot of Mowgli, Baloo and Bahgeera looking at the hard camera in the Jungle Book. Then we get the title card which looks like a Gravity Falls knockoff. Chad claims that the first piece of "evidence" is in that song called "I Wanna Be Like You". You know; the song King Louie sang in the Jungle Book that caused people to think that the writers were racist or something? (It was racist, move on former self.) We get still photos from the scenes with Baloo and King Louie from the Jungle Book dancing and acting all chummy. Chad claims that it's not a song about dancing animals in goofy outfits, it's about becoming a human being and taking over.

That peanut butter he's eating must be "high" as in "number of drugs to take this angle seriously!". Chad calls them being at an ancient ruins creepy; but seriously, is this any different than animals suddenly running in the neighborhood nowadays due to urban development?! Now; I thought that the creators were using still footage due to copyright laws. (Apparently, licensing fees were as "high" as that peanut butter Chad was eating.) However, on several occasions, they use live footage of King Louie taunting Mowgli in typical Disney fashion, which is holding the head in such a way to insult them for instance. King Louie took over mankind and eliminated them as we see Chad talking while showing a picture in picture shot of Baloo dancing with Mowgli, and then still footage of monkeys from some movie that no one cares about. Then we see still shots from TaleSpin, including the SeaDuck and Cape Suzette as Chad calls this a mass genocide. Look Chad; TaleSpin in the Ducktales world with the genocide thing is a hell of a lot more believable than this. (Ah, I see former self wrote this while conceding an idea for a fanfic called AeroCross that I quit caring about years ago because I realize that I suck at fan fiction writing.) Then more still footage from some movie showing a destroyed statue of Liberty on the beach. Chad basically goes on about the Cape Suzette wordplay for Crepe Suzette and claims that kids will never get it. Of course not; this show is an adult show disguised as a children's show according to Kevin Johnson. He's right of course. Yes; they shows us what Crepe Suzette look like in real life sprinkled with orange peel. Chad basically goes over the show as he doesn't think Rebecca is attractive. Maybe not; but Rebecca is a great character without it, so who cares? (What a sexist gasbag Chad is?!) Chad calls Kit Cloudkicker's sky surfing impossible, which is like James Storm's top rope Codebreaker in that it defies the laws of physics, but still looks cool. (If the top rope Codebreaker is possible to do in professional wrestling, even with the worked bumps to reduce injury, then it doesn't defy the laws of physics. You just suck at how vast the world is. It's not infinite which means "I don't know what the number is", and defining it that way might makes us more humble as a spieces. Or maybe not.)

Chad is green-screened after the Shere Khan promo because the show grinds to a halt because Chad cannot pronounce Shere Khan properly. What a doofus?! And I don't mean Doofus Drake either. Chad also talks about Bagheera's absence -- despite the fact that Bagheera's look has been cloned countless times in the series -- and makes a theory that he died in the Great War. Okay; that is believable in terms of an angle for TaleSpin at least. (Still doesn't explain the clones though. That DNA Splitter must have been invented by Professor Buzz.) Then Chad goes on and on about the episode Bygones referring to the Great War as canon, forgetting that the Great War was also referenced in The Old Man & The SeaDuck with Joe MacGee. Baloo's facial expression is priceless here as Chad claims that the Great War is a connection to the great animal uprising, which is the basis for his conspiracy theory. Then we move onto Baloo Von Bruinwald the XIII which was referenced in "Balooest Of The Bluebloods", claiming that he's the 13th baron in a long list of bears from The Jungle. Then there is a Gravity Falls-equse title card that says: "How Does It Hold Up?!" Spoiler alert: It doesn't. (The building is built on a wet deck of cards and collapses on the first sign of tears. Pronounced tear-s, not te-ars.) Chad also decides to talk about "facts" and he of course talks about Last Horizons and Flying Dupes being banned. Note that this episode aired well after TaleSpin Volume 3 was released. Flying Dupes is no longer banned! If an episode is released on DVD, it's no longer banned. Get over it guys! (Besides, I thought you "I got mine, fuck you" fans are happy that it's on a disc and not on digital channels that can steal your data?!) No TaleSpin episodes have been banned anymore. (Except on Disney+, which uses the Toon Disney edits which the DVD versions don't.) Last Horizons was reinstated on Toon Disney and Flying Dupes was played only once on Toon Disney after the show went off syndicatio, unless you live in Canada; then it played until it went off the air from Family Channel Canada. If you want a banned episode; how about the Disney Channel version of Plunder and Lightning (the one with "Home Is Where The Heart Is"); and that is asking for trouble.

Also; Chad thinks Baloo is a terrorist due to the plot of Flying Dupes. Unwilling terrorist maybe; but no. (Mick of the Bomb Factory in Thembria was the mastermind.) Kit Cloudkicker was the terrorist of the group since he was a former air pirate. (Stop it former self! The joke is deader than my sex life.) He also makes fun of the TaleSpin spelling. Earth to Chad: Trademark sir. If they used TailSpin; they couldn't get it trademarked. Then Chad finally admits that this conspiracy theory sucks because people forget that TaleSpin was a rush job. (The citation they used was from Animation Resources even though the information clearly came from Ocean Glide who put the information on the High Flight Comment Board.) Along with the history of the series in terms of approving it, which is an amazing story in itself. (As per the opening to "I Only Have Ice For You" rant. Sadly, the link to the interview has disappeared into the memory hole.) I'm surprised no one except me makes an even bigger deal of it because the show was so well done that either the talent was awesome at what they did, of it was really good and used a lot of teams. I position it as the later, but still; why isn't point hammered home more outside of me of course. He decides that this is unfair to rate and thus no rating. (Coward!) He also asks for comments on rating the conspiracy -- after admitting that this conspiracy theory has no legs -- and I give it a DUD bordering on negative stars. Probably the only time you'll ever see me rate TaleSpin that way, and it's still no fault of the show. Then Chad; like a good conspiracy theorist is egging on the fans to say that it's a solid conspiracy. He also whisper yells to us that bears are scary. (Unlike leopards, they can eat your face.) That ends the segment; four minutes if that and the video/audio is completely out of sync, because Federator decides to add on footage without fixing the audio. Rinky-Dink! This was a total waste of time as the conspiracy theory was doomed from the start. That's because no one is going to buy that animals somehow can commit a mass genocide that would make all the despot dictators blush; plus most of the facts that are true have been well know for years now; thus nothing new under the sun. Also, there are still people out there that still believe that Flying Dupes is still banned?! That's a conspiracy! Jungle Spin is ** (40%); and the theory is a DUD (0%). (It's not even good enough to be a hideously hilarious theory and give us probably the only negative star on TaleSpin in history.)

THE REVIEW LINE

Geez; this was a total waste of time. Federator has never been a favorite of mine, but this was not good even by their low standards. The whole conspiracy theories is much easier to shoot holes into than Jeffrey Mika theories about Michael Eisner intentionally downplaying TaleSpin because he didn't get what he wanted, or my theory of Jungle Cubs. At least my conspiracy theories are written so that they are believable. This requires way too many logic and physics gymnastics to work. The only way animals rule the world today are if everyone were furry fans. Not going to happen! (Especially when the bigots rule the roost claiming that "God" loves them, while hating "God" and wanting to kill said thingie. Another clue as to why atheist do not believe in "God".) The segment was presented cheaply and the audio out of sync really hurts it as none of the pictures matched what Chad is talking about. The preview of this segment was better than anything else because of the swerve; and I have no problems yielding to Gravity Falls having a fan base. Oh; and remind Chad that information on TaleSpin has been updated to 2015; not 2000. So yeah; didn't like. So next weekend; I'll be working on the first comics which I have yet to decide on which. One chapter will be dedicated to comparing the television version of Plunder and Lightning to the comic book version of the same. I might do that one first. I'll also update Lapiz Azul, The Nelevana Four and add the two missing studios some of my sources were talking about. So, there is lots of stuff to do. So....

Thumbs down for this segment and I'll see you all next time.
