Beg, Borrow And Steal
Reviewed: 09/11/2011
KABOOM Us All To Hell Why Don't Ya?!
This is actually the eighth straight day I have ranted on Disney content (7 Gummi Bear episodes, two Fish Hooks episodes and two Kick Buttowski episodes) and I'm not exactly thrilled to be ranting on anything ten years after 9/11 either. At least Beg, Borrow & Steal is a safe episode to rant on as this is the last (for rant purposes) episode featuring those acorn machine gun nitwits: Nip, Tuck and Clutch. Let's rant on shall we....?
This episode is done by Rich Fogel, Mark Seidenberg and Duane Capizzi. The teleplay is done by Duane Capizzi. The animation is done by Walt Disney Animation Japan.
We begin this one in a cave with raindrops dripping down onto the floor and we get the title card about ten seconds after we start. This is probably the only time they did this and I didn't see them do it in any other series since. Oh wait; Darkwing Doubloon, never mind. We then see two moles looking at the collapsed cave and then bail as a mole digging machine break through the stones and we discover that Cubbi is driving the thing...with Gruffi being the backseat driver of course. Of all the backseat drivers I don't want; Gruffi is the top of the line in terms of wanting to strangle him. Cubbi is having his problems and Gruffi claims that he's doing fine...until the digging machine hits the mud lake of doom. Cubbi complains about finding an easy way of fixing the Quick Tunnels and Gruffi goes on a long rant about hard work, Gummi tradition and fun being so evil. Cubbi sulks of course. Now; I like fun as much as the next guy; but fun doesn't repair Quick Tunnels. Nor does it get a rant done either. Gruffi claims that getting out the mud is easy (Funny considering how he talked about the whole process being hard, but being the GUMMI WAY.) as he pulls and pushes the Gummi Bear lever (WRONG LEVER!) as we go full gear reverse.
Gruffi decides to let Cubbi take over and wants Cubbi to go forward. Cubbi has that look of “I'm going to make you pay for this” as he salutes Captain Gruffi and pushes the button on the panel. Gruffi panics like mad because that is the emergency eject button as Gruffi's chair flies back and through the wooden door and out of the digging machine mole. HAHA! Like I'm buying Cubbi did THAT one unintentionally. Gruffi springs into the mud and Cubbi is in awe. Yeap; he isn't even hiding that he did that one on purpose. Gruffi is all muddy as he asks why he bothers. Because it's the GUMMI WAY. That's why Gruffo.
Anyhow; we head to the surface as Clutch has his acorn machine gun set to profits (and is wearing a guard on his mouth which fails in keeping his cover. The green skin gives him away) as they rob a stage coach and today's ammo is peas. So now acorns are on the BS&P forbidden list? Why not just BS&P the machine gun sound effects while we are at it too. The horses gets hit with peas; panic and gallop away stage left with the stage coach. Clutch laughs as he orders Tuck to check the booty and Tuck pulls an old boot from the sack. HAHA! Clutch blows him off as Tuck dumps the spoils and the treasure looked more spoiled than Princess Marie on a Hate Calla binge. AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! POW! OUCH! Ummmm....Clutch wants a big haul and wants the treasure statched in their treasure trove. He asks for the map and Nip and Tuck point fingers at each other on that. So Clutch shoots peas at their feet to make them dance. Like I'm taking that one seriously guys. He doesn't care about THE MAP as long as they find the treasure trove. So we head to a sky shot of a tree stump as the map is fluttering in the branch of tree and the wind is blowing. Cubbi pops out and blows off Gruffi for all that work and the map flutters down and splats in Cubbi's face. I know he wants adventure; but the map doesn't have to act like a pie. That's insulting guys!
Cubbi protests this outrage and then sees the map in awe. So we head to Gummi Glenn AFTER HAPPY HOUR (after dark) as the babyfaces is in the living room as Calla exchanges notes on her royal confirmation. She's inviting them to is while Grammi knits and Sunni has the Gruffi pose on. Oh; the irony! Princess Calla is going to get the crown jewels as Sunni loves this. So that means Princess Calla will soon be Prince Cavin. AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! POW! OUCH! Ummmm.... Calla feels lucky as Cubbi runs in with the treasure map and Gruffi naturally blows it off. Cubbi loves riches as Zummi tries to explain to him that Gummi Bears have no use for material processions. I'm guessing Great Book of Gummi isn't material. Why doesn't that surprise me?! Cubbi folds up the map as Sunni blows off the silly map. Coming from someone who is supposed to be a diva; you would think that SHE would have liked such a treasure hunt. She's more concerned about Calla's party tonight as Calla giggles on the hypocrisy. So Cubbi storms off looking mad as we head into the forest as Cubbi has managed to drag Tummi into this one. Tummi doesn't seem all that thrilled since it's not high on his to-do list. I'm guessing a second adventure with Gusto was too upsetting to do after The World According To Gusto.
Cubbi butters Tummi up and claims that it could be free food. Of course Tummi thinks that is absurd as he asks why anyone would want to bury food. BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Tummi obviously has no clue about animals in the wintertime. Then he realizes that they might bury it to enhance flavor. Cubbi drops several aging foods including the dreaded pickled peppers. Tummi doesn't want this food to go to waste and he follows Cubbi and asks where the stuff is. So we segue to Clutch who is NOT amused at all as Nip and Tuck are still arguing on the location of the treasure trove. Clutch gets up and he's been thinking. Oh lord Clutch; do you remember what happened when Louie did the same thing in For Whom The Bell Klangs? Nothing good came out of it. See; he wants a big haul of booty. Well; if Clutch's shoes are wearing out; I can see why. Tuck brings out the boot of doom and Clutch blows him off and slams the boot on his head. Okay; his boots are perfectly fine. Yes siree. Pay no attention to the sadist ranter behind the curtain. Clutch demands that he thinks big and Tuck suggests stealing the crown jewels. Clutch actually likes that idea.
So we scene change to Cubbi and Tummi following DA MAP in the forest as the two kids run into the conveniently placed stone cave and then inside. Cubbi proclaims that it's so close he can smell it. Tummi smells trouble as he tugs on the OUT OF NOWHERE rope trip line which sets up the Spike Ball Crossbow of Agony. Cubbi and Tummi duck and bail as the Spike Ball blasts into the wall. Cubbi claims that they could have been flatter than pancakes. Actually Cubbi; it's more like flattened pancakes and bleeding syrup. Or bloody waffles. Same thing basically. BS&P RULEZ~! Tummi wants to return home to have the most important meal of the day and Cubbi ponders it over and realizes that the treasure must be awfully big to set a trap like this. Tummi asks if they are too close to turn back and Cubbi nods in approval. Tummi sighs on cue as we continue on as they look at their feet to check for more traps. Sadly; the next trap trips when Tummi's head makes contact with the rope above....
We get rumbling and up in the ceiling is a hole for millions of walnut to fall. Ah; I see where Clutch was storing them. I see BS&P has reinstated the walnuts ammo after all. Tummi sums this all up as Cubbi blows him off and they slip and slide on walnuts (Damn; I need to recheck my nut guide after calling their ammo acorns all this time too). Then we run on walnuts to waste some more time and they grab onto the cave walls letting the rest of the walnuts fall into the abyss. Tummi wants to end all this; but Cubbi unfolds the map and he's going to find this treasure if it's the last thing they ever do. Tummi does NOT like that one either as we scene change deeper into the cave as Tummi complains and wants to take a break. Cubbi simply won't let him even do THAT. How ironic that Cubbi is acting like a stick in the mud and won't allow Tummi to get a breather? He claims that the treasure is around the bend; which Tummi blows off because he said that an hour ago. Tummi rests his paws on the cave wall; and that is placed on the conveniently placed panel and we got a cave in in progress! Cubbi and Tummi bail and the cave is sealed. Tummi thinks it's all over; but Cubbi claims that it's not as he bails. I think we know where this episode is going eh?
So we scene change as the trolls have apparently returned to the cave somehow and Clutch notices the cave-in and that someone was here. NO?! REALLY?! Then we get rumbling and here comes the mole digging machine burrowing through the rocks as I expected it to be. The heels bail and get entombed in rocks in the process as the mole machine digs some more stage right. The heels pop up from the carnage as Nip and Tuck try to rationalize which animal is the digging machine as Nip thinks it's an animal that stores something in his cheek as Clutch pops up with rocks in his mouth which gives Nip the sight gag he needs to prove his point. Clutch spits rocks in Nip's kisser and wants them to follow whatever the hell that was. So we go to a sky shot of the treasure room which is a simple CHEST OF DEMONS near a cliff. Oh; if this isn't setting up an obvious trap; I don't know what is. The mole machine makes it as Cubbi pops out and proclaims that it was nice of Gruffi to let them borrow the mole digging machine. Tummi questions the morals of this; but Cubbi end arounds him pointing out that they were using it to clear tunnels as they slide down. HA! Cubbi does have a point there Tummi. Who sezs you cannot practice and have fun at the same time? Other than Gruffi of course? I thought so.
Cubbi embraces the CHEST OF DEMONS (oh lord that was disturbing indeed) as he thinks he has won; and then here comes the troll brigade as Clutch has the Walnut Machine Gun set to profits as Tummi and Cubbi are forced to raise their arms up. Cubbi doesn't like this at all as we scene change and see Cubbi and Tummi tied up on the ground. Again I'm going to repeat this until they get it right: TIE THE DAMN KNEES UP! Why is Don Karnage the ONLY one who gets this right?! Must be like calling an inverted DDT properly. It almost NEVER happens. The trolls look like the mole digging machine and they still have no clue what animal it is supposed to be. Clutch finally blows them off because this is his means of getting the crown jewels from Castle Dumbwin...ERRR...I mean Dunwynn. Cubbi and Tummi look at each other with looks of “We screwed up big time” and that ends the segment nearly ten minutes in.
After the commercial break; we see Tuck with a rope pulley as Cubbi and Tummi are in a net hanging from the rope. Clutch thanks them for being first class saps as Tuck lowers them into the abyss. The death trap is spikes of course. Cubbi protests this outrage; but Clutch blows them off and tells them not to do anything rash because they will die Mega Man style. Or bear kabobs. Same thing basically. Tummi doesn't like this food at all as we jump cut to inside the mole digging machine as Clutch plays backseat driver to Nip driving as we see the mole digging machine reverse in an improbable way and ram itself into the wall. The saddest thing about that is this is still an improvement from Rhinokey driving. Clutch screams and we go forward and the digging claws still need work as Nip rams into another wall and then rear ends another wall. The cave rumbles and a spike falls and misses the pulley wheel by five feet; but the power of suggestion allows it to turn Cubbi and Tummi down another five feet or so. Cubbi calls this terrible. I love real comments that aren't supposed to be real comments.
Tummi thinks about the treasure; but Cubbi is more concerned about the mole machine being seen by humans and therefore Gummi Bears exist. Personally; Cubbi, the bigger concern is that these trolls are going to steal the crown jewels. I think you are being infected with Gruffi paranoia today as Cubbi wants to chew through the ropes. That goes nowhere as Tummi calls the ropes tough. Cubbi reminds him of Grammi's noodles as we chew through some more and Tummi wants Grammi's tomato sauce on that. So we head to the forest BEFORE HAPPY HOUR (sunset) as we see the mole digging machine go through a hill and Clutch blowing Nip's driving. So you're telling me that Nip's grandmother is related to Rhinokey's parents Clutch?! I have a hard time believing even that. So we head to a farm and a garden as the STOCK FARMER OF DOOM makes another appearance using a hoe (NOT THAT ONE!). I swear to god; I see him in almost every Gummi Bear episode imaginable. Considering that he is human; I'm SHOCKED that he never made a cameo in Rescue Rangers to the best of my knowledge. So out comes the digging machine as it busts through the stone fence and leaves a lot of dirt; but kindly leaves the farmer's plants alone. How about that for being generous?! A tree gets uprooted of course as the BUGS BUNNY SPOT OUT OF CONTROL ensues as the digging machine heads to the far shot of Castle Dumbwin.
The farmer thinks that it's the field mice getting bigger every year. If only Dumbwin denizen; if only. So we cut to a closeup shot of the digging machine near the drawbridge leading to Castle Dumbwin as it digs underground again. And so we head to Princess Calla's room as he does her hair...and it's REAL BABEE! Calla asks Gregor about her hair and Gregor naturally likes it like a treasure. Then we get rumbling and Calla's mirror breaks. UH OH! She just got seven years bad luck; which in Disney terms means no DVD for at least 20 years. AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Gregor wants to know what the heck is all this as the mole digging machine rises into the castle street and the denizens panic and flee. Nice to see someone finally notice the animal behind all this too. The top pops and Nip and Tuck claims that it's a wart and a pimple while Clutch thinks they are both pains in the ass; in roundabout terms. Clutch drops them on their backs as Nip is on bottom indicating his overness with Clutch. Namely; not much at all. Clutch decides to play lookout while Nip and Tuck get the crown jewels which I think is a dumb move all things considered.
Nip and Tuck bail northeast as Clutch closes the hatch proclaiming that nothing will stop him now as we get a shot of a castle tower which teases a possible Cubbi/Tummi entrance; only we scene change back to the treasure trove as Cubbi and Tummi are climbing up the pulley. Sigh. Tummi looks down of course as we get a neat shot of Tummi's perspective and Tummi doesn't feel all that well. Cubbi tells him not to look down as he does some jungle gym climbing. Tummi's attempt is a lot more difficult for him as he grabs the rope; but that forces everyone down. Tummi catches Cubbi on the rebound and they fall down as the net catches inside the pulley and now they are only inches away from hitting the spikes. Of course; anyone who knows real life that if you spread yourself on a bed of nails; you do very little damage do to pressure. So this isn't all that dangerous anymore. Tummi swings around breathing a sigh of relief as Cubbi climbs up on Tummi's face and we scene change to Cubbi and Tummi making it over the abyss back onto solid Terrafirma. Cubbi and Tummi run to the cave hole as Cubbi wants the treasure first; but Tummi wants the mole machine back. Cubbi admits that Tummi is right and then stamps his foot in disgust...or would have...
…..if we didn't segue to Nip doing the same thing in front of a locked door in Dumbwin. Tuck wants to return during visiting hours; but Nip decides on the direct approach as he walks down and grabs the conveniently placed ax and mace on the wall. Oh heck, why not? Might as well has a sign saying “Conveniently Placed Weapons To Break Down Door” while we are at it. Or does that sound too much like Dave The CLEANING BARBARIAN OF LAUGHS for their well being?! So we cut to down the step in the street as Sir Lazybones Tuxford and three armed knights practice the fine art of not being seen so they can ambush Clutch and they find the digging machine and we have our ambush. Thankfully for Clutch; he notices them almost right away and pulls on THE SWITCH~! He goes backwards allowing the axe spear knight to pratfall on his back, natch. So we give chase and then cut back to Nip and Tuck with melee weapons. And we charge as they slash the door down and we segue into the digging mole machine ramming backwards into the castle walls and doing a fair bit of damage and destruction in the process. The shadow of the tower engulfs the knights and they are forced to bail like scalded dogs. They also kindly put their weapons down before retreating as the tower comes crashing down. Really; what was the point of having them disarm? Clutch has a machine that trumps all; so why bother?!
So the dust settles and we see that Nip and Tuck were the ones in the tower as they pop out of the carnage. Nip (Paul Winchell in one of the final appearances in this series before he was put out to pasture by Disney) doesn't know his own strength. I agree with him; just not in the way he thinks actually. Tuck pops his head and he's wearing a pearl necklace with a diamond stone in front along with a crown. Ooookkkkaaayyy; this is getting silly now. Tuck proclaims that he has the crown jewels (those two items? Riiiigggghhhhtttt) as Clutch pops the cover and he wants to leave as everyone gets inside and drives out. We then cut outside the forest as Cubbi and Tummi run in as they are near Dumbwin Castle and Cubbi hopes it's not.....Castle Tower comes down in the background....too late. So we cut to the Quick Tunnels as a quick car arrives with the GANG OF GUMMI WAY as Gruffi is hoping that Tummi and Cubbi aren't having too much trouble with the mole digging machine. Sunni doesn't seem to care because she doesn't want to miss the action. Don't worry Sunni; we are just getting started.
So we head topside while the GANG OF GUMMI WAY is heading up the ladder and it's now AFTER HAPPY HOUR and the denizens are still running in the streets panicking. So Gruffi pops the street paver and blows Sunni off before the mole machine comes OUT OF NOWHERE and squashes Gruffi back down. HAHA! I've been waiting for something like that to happen to him and bonus points for getting the teenybopper diva too. We ram the machine into the castle walls for more mayhem as Gruffi pops up again as Gruffi notices the troll brigade coming out to clear rocks. Well; only Clutch isn't helping since he's too busy blowing them off for their bad driving skills again. BWHAHAHAHAHA! Projection much there Clutch? Gruffi ponders how they got their paws on the mole machine. Take three guesses Gruffi; and the first two don't count as the troll suddenly get in AGAIN and full gear reverse ram into the castle walls again before finally driving out as Grammi wonders where Cubbi and Tummi are. Gruffi is more concerned about the mole machine getting into human hands as we cut to the mole machine near the wishing well as Gruffi jumps on the well and invokes the LASSO OF BANE TO ALL ACTION CARTOONS EVERYWHERE as it's hog tying a mole time~! He manages to get it snagged onto the digging machine; but the bucket steel pole breaks free and knocks Gruffi into the back and we are surfing in the castle. The other Gummi's stop as Sunni waves for Gruffi and that ends the segment 15 and a half minutes in.
After the commercial break; we continue surfing on the streets of Dumbwin as Gruffi breaks some barrel of laughs and gets all wet. Gruffi's selling of this is weak to say the very least. Put more feeling into it Corey Burton! Now Gruffi has wooden skis on his feet for no good reason as he gets feathered by a bunch of chicken who panic and flee. This is turning into a Kick Buttowski episode now. The other Gummi's try to run in; but are forced to bail as Sir Lazybones and his knight return with new weapons in hand which makes the whole disarming scene pointless. I see only one knight decided not to get involved as apparently; the barrel of laughs have magically repaired themselves since the Gummi Bears are hiding behind them. Grammi pops up and wants Zummi to do something as Zummi gets his notes from his hat and wants to do a disappearing magic trick. Yeah; because we need LESS manpower to defeat that machine. LESS IS MORE see; in that logical thinking process. So we invoke the SPELL OF SATAN:
Zummi:
Momo Gummi Umup Nowmere!
Translation: Mom Gummi Up Now
Here!
I don't get that one as we cut to inside with Tuck losing all his moles from his face. Ooookkkkaaayyyy; that was pointless and dumb Zummi. Tuck wonders what is going on and his guess is as good as mine as far as I'm concerned. Nip claims that he looks different as Zummi realizes that he screwed up. NO?! REALLY?! How many episodes have you screwed up with magic already Zummi?! More hanging on and bad screaming from Gruffi as Sunni wants to help Gruffi and so she drinks her vial of roided juice. IT'S BUTT BOUNCING TIME~! Well; it took sixteen minutes before they had to resort to their crutch. Zummi and Grammi do it in stereo and we bounce as Gruffi's shirt is torn as Grammi bounces in and offers her hand. Gruffi actually extends it which indicates that he has had enough of this foolishness as Nip and Tuck cover their eyes since they are heading for the wall again. Geez; considering all the times they hit the wall so far; you would think they would be use to it. So the mole digging machine digs underground and Grammi cannot reach as Gruffi surfs underground. Grammi yells for Gruffi and.....
We scene change to the forest as Cubbi and Tummi walk around in search of the mole machine and it digs up behind their backs. The noise thankfully alerts them as the mole machine drives away as Cubbi ponders what Gruffi would do and Gruffi finally rises up from DA....HOLE (god bless Baby Plucky) and pratfalls on his face in the ground. Tummi gleefully sums up the situation for me. They help Gruffi up as he spits and then does his trademark pose wanting an explanation. Cubbi blows it off because there is no time as Tummi and Cubbi drink their vials of juice and it's BUTT BOUNCING TIME as they bounce stage right much to the protestations of Gruffi. Well good for them; we all know how it would have ended up if they DID explain to Gruffi right there. So we see the mole machine continue to dig up and down while the kids bounce and follow it. And another innocent tree gets down of course. The kids bounce over the tree as they bounce on top of the mole machine and leave it to Tummi to nearly lose his balance in the process. Cubbi grabs Tummi and actually loses his sandals in the process as we head inside with the heels as Clutch calls this real booty.
Then we hear noises as we see Cubbi and Tummi trying to pop the hatch up and Tummi has got his sandals back natch. It's locked as Cubbi decides to get them out somehow; so he goes upside down right in the front window and taunt Nip with the usual childish taunts. Okay; your mother wears chain mail did make me laugh though as Clutch orders Tuck to squash the bug on their windshield (god bless Kenny Blankenship). Tuck grabs a wooden wrench and opens the hatch which allows Tummi to hide behind it as he notices Cubbi and motions to him; but we see the hatch close and we get the FCC FRIENDLY OFF-SCREEN FIGHT OF DOOM with Tummi. Funny how TaleSpin allowed an on screen fight (however weak it was) in A Touch of Glass. Clutch takes it as Tuck goofing off and takes over the control while ordering Nip to check on him. Nip climbs the ladder as we head back on top and Tummi and Tuck are dancing?! Oh wait; they are having a struggle to get the wrench, my mistake. Tummi gets kicked down on his back (remind me never to ask Tummi to back me up in a fight) as Tuck walks onto the hatch and Nip opens it perfectly to allow Tuck to go flying off the mole machine and into the bushes. Heh.
Nip blows off Tuck as Tummi warns him to duck which I betcha Nip no sells and then gets MURDERED by the branch and knocked off. I check the video.....Damn; I'm good. Tummi gleefully sums that one up for me as we head back to the front as Clutch is driving very well. Maybe he should have been doing that from the very start. So Cubbi and Tummi climb down and Cubbi demands Clutch to unhand the mole machine and Cubbi tackles onto Clutch's back. We struggle for a while as more innocent trees get downed as a result. What does this mole think it is; a hurricane?! We do a pan shot as the GANG OF GUMMI WAY head to the cliff and Grammi panics because they are headed straight for Bailfull Bog. Okay; Grammi, what is so dangerous about that bog? I mean; after MegaMan-equse spikes; you think I'm going to take that one seriously?! The mole machine drives away in circles as Tummi and Cubbi play tug of war with Clutch inside the machine. Clutch shoves both kids as Tummi wants to interrupt these proceedings; but Cubbi and Clutch struggle with each other as they notice that they are headed for the bog and the mole splashes down and begins to sink. Oh swell; let's bring the uber dated death trap of doom AS a finish why don't we. The mole is at 45 degrees as Clutch grabs the jewels and Cubbi gets bounced off; but Cubbi grabs one of Clutch's shoes in the process.
Cubbi bowling balls Tummi good in the process as Clutch climbs the ladder and sadly; he opens the hatch with some effort and we have the BOG OF DEATH raining down inside. Real smart Clutch; NOT!! So Clutch gets stuck on bottom and Cubbi shoves him into the ejection seat and pushes the button which pops Clutch out of the mole's ass and into the air. Okay; that was more disturbing than I had intended. We then see Tuxford and his knight on horseback as the crown jewels (all two of them) land on Lazybones' head and neck and Tuxford is forced to stop. Clutch gets faceplanted on the ground in front of Lazybones' horse as Tuxford accuses him of training innocent moles to do his dirty work. Okay...BWHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA! I wish that the writers actually went with that instead of the machine mole. Clutch gets cuffed and taken away as Gregor arrives on horseback and I see Calla is also decent enough to get her own horse. Gregor takes the crown jewels and places them on Calla's head and around her neck in that order. The knights notice the mole machine sinking into the bog and they pay their respects to it and then ride off back to Dumbwin feeling bad. The GANG OF GUMMI WAY is behind the bushes as Grammi thinks that they are dead as Gruffi wants Cubbi to use the four wheel drive.
So we head into the mole machine (yeap; we are going to get the Cash As Catch Can Part Two finish and ending, sort of.) as Tummi is panicking as Cubbi isn't worried and he pushes on the lever (WRONG LEVER!) as Grammi looks like she's having an ice cream headache behind the bushes. Gruffi notices the bubbling as we head back inside as Cubbi will dig their way to safety. Tummi wants to go back to Gummi Glenn; but Cubbi wants the treasure and Tummi is not happy to hear that. So we head back to the cave of the trolls as Cubbi and Tummi run in and Cubbi opens the CHEST OF DEMONS. Tummi is hoping for food; but we find out that there are only two worn out boots and a couple of gold coins. Cubbi is not happy to see that at all as we head to the Gummi storage shed as the mole machine finally lands and stops near a door as Gruffi and Grammi enter and Gruffi is naturally not amused at all buy this.
Cubbi and Tummi finally pop out as they confess to looking for the treasure and didn't find much. Gruffi blows it off as a waste of time. Cubbi and Tummi slide down as Cubbi proclaims that it wasn't the treasure that was important because the adventure was the real deal as per the ancients. Gruffi seems pleased to hear that as Tummi wishes that they found something other than being heroes to return the crown jewels to Calla. Cubbi seems more content on wanting to dig more holes for practice and even Gruffi agrees to it as Cubbi wants to drive as Gruffi climbs down and before he can close the hatch, it's full gear reverse out of the storage room; and we circle fade out to end the episode at 21:10. Well; some of the stuff was dull, but most of it was great. Although I would have liked it better if they didn't pad it out with Cubbi and Tummi trying to escape though. **** (80%).
THE REVIEW LINE
Well; the final 22 minute episode of Season five of Gummi Bears is in the books and it's another very good Cubbi/Tummi episode in a series of them. While the episode was well written and some of the stuff made my laugh; I did notice some padding during the Cubbi/Tummi escape that really didn't seem to be needed. The whole mole machine thing was a blast though and the trolls actually looked like a legit threat throughout most of it, although the bog finish was lifted out of Ducktales. Still; a very good episode with most of the animation being dead on and Cubbi was awesome as usual. The “your mother wears chain mail” was a riot to say the least. So we only have two shorts left in Season 5; but I won't be working on either one until I get a reliable stream for My Kingdom For Pie and until after the Rite Stuff for The World According to Gusto. So next up is Queen of the Carpies and True Gritty in Season six next weekend. For this week; it's finishing up the remaining orphan episodes of Kick Buttowski available (unless Run, Oscar, Run) makes it before then. So......
Thumbs up for this episode and I'll see you all next time.
